I recently came here for the second time and I do enjoy it. I love the design of this place...very cozy, yet classy. We ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich and Brussel sprouts. The chicken sandwich was really good and I would definitely get it again. The brussel sprouts, however, were a bit too dry. I'm not sure if I'd order it again, but it wasn't terrible either. It was just okay. The service is great. The waiters/waitresses are very tentative and check on you a few times throughout your meal to ensure satisfaction. We went to Craft House yesterday for brunch (2 couples and one baby). Sat out in the patio, which was great. The restaurant was fairly busy, but not full. Nobody waiting outside. I'm going to break down the experience. Drinks: 1 Star "Spicy" Bloody Naughty showed up room temperature, barely any ice. Supposedly it uses bacon infused mix or vodka, but the only thing I could taste was the soggy piece of bacon at the bottom of the drink. The quality of the bloody marie's and size of all the mixed drinks were fully sub-par for $18 each. Food: 3.5 Stars Food was tasty. We had the fried chicken sandwich, vegetable scramble, chicken caesar wrap and all-American breakfast. No complaints. Service: Zero Stars Really, really bad. Our drinks sat at the bar for some time before showing up warm to the table. Ordered coffee at the beginning, it never showed up. Had to ask another worker to tell our server because she seemed to be ghosting us. Coffee didn't show up until after our drinks. When our food showed up, I asked for some hot sauce. "No problem, I'll go grab that" - nothing. Asked another worker, "no problem, let me grab that" - nothing. Third person finally brought an almost empty bottle of Tabasco after our meal was half done. Refills of coffee, never. Water glasses sat empty most of the time. Empty drink glasses never got picked up. We asked for a cup of hot water to help warm up a baby bottle "no problem, let me get that" -nothing. Had to go to the bar and get it. We asked for our last round of drinks and the check. They eventually brought them but forgot one drink. Had to go to the bar ourselves and get it. Our bill was well over $200 and the experience was awful. I would not recommend this place! The entrance smelled a little funky, their ceviche appetizer dish looked like mac and cheese. It was almost creamy and tasted like old fish. The pasta dish with the sausage was presented terribly. They did not even wipe the sides of the plate, marinara sauce was everywhere. The pasta was overly done, not al dente. You would think with all the staff members they have they would pay a little more attention to detail. Very disappointed!!! read more

First time trying the Craft House. We had an awesome seat on the front patio. That is about the only memorable part of the experience. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it had a ton of bacon fat in it. Giant white chunks of fat floating throughout the drink. I love bacon and bloodies (especially together), but found this pretty gross. We ordered the banana bread bites which were delicious, but took an hour to come out to the table. Once delivered we were not given any silverware or napkins so had to get up and snag them from the bar. My girlfriend and I split the avocado toast and breakfast sandwich, which came out a full hour and 15 minutes after we ordered. This seems like a pretty long time given the simple nature of the dishes. Not normally one to complain about wait times, but it is hard to overlook when people sitting next to you who sat down after you did get their food, eat, and close out before you get your starter. The icing on the cake was a giant black hair that we found in the breakfast sandwich. The Bartender was kind enough to comp the dish, but was rather off-putting. We never saw our server again after this and closed out with the bartender. For the price you are charging the service should step up. read more

After an initial 5 start review, that stood for their first year in business, I'm sad to change my review. We were at the craft house at their initial opening. It was amazing! The following three or four meals there were exceptional, and we brought more friends at each subsequent meant. Unfortunately the past year or so the food has slipped and the service has declined significantly. Tonight was a complete disappointment with bad food and disinterested/apathetic wait-staff service. The manager seemed to acknowledge the problems they're having. Blake is a very creative chef, but he needs to get his menu and kitchen staff under control. We will not be back. I would think twice before going for any meal there. read more

Dana Point is a sweet gem in south Orange County and Craft House is a great asset to the area. The food is excellent, there are many appetizer options for vegetarians, a few vegetarian entrees, and the happy hour choices are fairly priced and all yummy. It is obvious the food is thoughtfully crafted, presented and created by a 'real chef'. The front patio has a nice ocean breeze overlooking PCH and the Lantern District, the bar feels cozy & neighborly and they also have a huge back room for dining. All of the service people were friendly, our plates & drinks came out quickly. We will be back again soon. read more

Wow, just wow. What an amazing culinary experience. We ordered so much food and every single bite was delicious We had a party of five and ordered a bunch of appetizers and shared everything. Then we ordered some mains courses and shared those, too The calamari was lightly battered with a great remoulade dip. The fondue was outstanding, just gooey pleasure spread on fresh bread. The pork belly with curried carrot puree was my personal favorite. The wife loved the Mac and Cheese We also got the brisket and I can't stop thinking about it! Smoked for 12 hours, my fork slide through it like butter. Melt in your mouth amazing! Fries were perfect Don't miss the craft cocktails. I had a concoction of rum, campari and house made grapefruit soda that was the bomb. I followed that with a Trader Vic's Mai Tai that was just like the original. There were a few Moscow Mules around the table and a vodka martini that was more than a generous pour. No complaints! The service was phenomenal and so friendly. I can't wait to go back! read more

Have been here on and off over the years that Craft House has been open and the food has steadily declined in both options and quality. Had dinner last night, the Wagyu steak as described by the server should have been nothing short of heavenly. Described as a huge plate of food (for $54) two of us decided to split an order. We were told that the kitchen could not handle splitting it because it would affect the integrity of the meat. Bull pucky... the order came out with 7 little chunks of what could only be thought of as stew meat,tough and definitely flavorless, sides served were very,very bitter collard greens and a silver dollar sized piece of fried cheese. A small dish of beans were the only redeeming feature. So sad. Won't be going back. Short pours on the wine also. read more

The Yelp crybabies are out in full force I see. The restaurant business is something I could NEVER do. Orange county isn't what it used to be. The level of butt-kissing required to please people is completely off the charts. The Millennial / PC culture has doomed our society and it will never be like it once was. I've been to The Craft House 10 or 12 times and I've always found it to be a pleasant experience. Nothing like what Vanessa R. describes. I know the servers and the bartenders and their all outstanding people. The only irritating thing to me is watching all the people or "customers" try carry on and pretend that they have money when in fact they do not. What they wear, what they drive, the places they live and the way they talk, I know everyone. I've lived in this city since 79' Everything about them screams "look at me" like the all want to be celebrities. Came to this place on a whim with a couple girlfriends looking for a place to eat on a Saturday night. Was busy when we walked in but as the night went on it emptied out. We weren't rushed at all and the service was amazing as well as the food. Even as they closed the server didn't rush us out. We ordered one thing at a time and split everything. A soup, salad, appetizer, two entrees and two desserts. We didn't like the pecan pie so he took it back and replaced it with the better than nicks strawberry dessert, which was great. We had to ask her to check for a table inside because the outside was so cold and she seemed "inconvenienced" by this.. the main reason I'm giving this a 2 star review was the price. $16 for a kids meal is astronomical. I'll start by saying the food and waitress was great. It's hard to give such a poor review but we had a large party book here and were told they would accommodate our party of 16. Without explaining lots of details many of the verbally agreed on promises by owner and manager were not delivered.We were treated poorly by the chef/ owner And they lost the business of 16 couples. I absolutely love this place. My husband and I didn't plan my birthday dinner well. We tried to go to Truly pizza down the street and they don't take reservations but weren't taking anymore customers for the rest of the night as of 5:45 pm We walked over to Craft house and the hostesses were so nice but there was a private party that had booked the patio and limited seating with a bunch of reservations coming in at 6 and 6:15. I told them we hadn't planned well for my bday and asked for restaurant recommendations nearby. A manager was standing there and overheard me and said "We got you." Sat us right away and wow the service and food was absolutely amazing!!! We shared a bunch of small plates- shrimp, short rib egg rolls, blue fin tuna poke and Mac n cheese. Every dish was phenomenal!!! We then shared their marble butter cake with ice cream and O.M.G!!!! I'm not a sweets person but this was my bday and I want to go back as soon as possible to get this again!!! We brought our kids (6 and 8) and although no kids menu is listed they do serve your typical kids items- cheeseburger, chicken strips, grilled cheese etc. I'm so happy we came here, such a fantastic night and gracious people who work here. We went to Craft House this evening and everything was amazing! Their new patio seating is so cute and intimate. The staff was incredible and made us feel very safe. The food and drinks were amazing as well! We watched each staff member washing their hands after touching anything, they're all wearing masks and gloves and they have hand sanitizer at every single table. Our server Kelly and the manager were great and always coming by to make sure our drinks and food were perfect. I would highly suggest giving them a try. We visited Craft House a few weekends back. It is located in the calm & picturesque Dana Point. There was parking available on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm. The ambience is tastefully done and there is nothing outdoor and indoor seating. For an upscale trendy restaurant you would think that the staff was a bit more welcoming. This was not the case We entered and were not even acknowledged. They were not busy and I noted their staff just milling around doing absolutely nothing. We asked if we could be seated outside we walked ourselves to the table. We waited another 8 odd minutes to be given the menu. We ordered a couple cocktails. Our intention was to have drinks and food but we ended up just getting drinks which were not that impressive. Sorry Craft House we had good intentions but you just didn't live up to the hype. Delicious food and great atmosphere! Came here with my sister for dinner and was very pleased! We went on a weeknight and were luckily seated quickly, but it was pretty busy and got busier as the night went on. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The food was so delicious. Finger lickin', plate lickin' good haha. Even though this isn't the type of restaurant to appropriately lick your fingers and plate, but I was very tempted haha. I didn't get a traditional entree, instead I ordered a few sides. They looked delicious so why not! I had the spicy tuna crispy rice, roasted Brussel sprouts, and fries. So delicious!!! The Brussel sprouts were so dang good, who knew Brussel sprouts could be cooked to such perfection. The spicy tuna was too good to share haha. Went out the other night here for a family evening. They have the restaurant thing down pretty tight. We were greeted and seated right away, with no delay. I had called in a reservation earlier, and then we realized we were able to make it half an hour early. So on a Saturday night at 6:30 they were still pretty empty and it was easy to accommodate us. The waiter was fairly prompt, but it was pretty obvious they were not rushing things and the timing of each of his arrivals was fairly laid back, though it was easy enough to get his attention when needed. He was around but not overbearing, fairly suave in manner and new his stuff well. We started with some Thai Style chicken wings, which were zesty and nicely seasoned, 6 on a plate, with some tasty spicy pickles too. I had the deconstructed chicken pot pie. The filling itself was super tasty. It came with a good wedge of phyllo dough, I think seasoned with some sage leaves between the layers. Whatever it was it was a nice touch. However, I think it could have been browned up and crisped up a bit more-I think by sticking it over the steaming hot (as it should have been) filling, it may have lost its crispy edge from the moisture. Maybe serving with a base plate and the wedge on the side would keep it crispy. Details, details. Nonetheless, the pot pie was delicious, with beautifully diced carrots, shredded and tender chicken, and a very tasty base. My wife had the mushroom risotto, which while good, I would have served on the more creamy side. I guess every chef may have his/her own interpretation of how risotto should be served, but by my standards this risotto was a bit on the dry side. My son had the spicy fried chicken sandwich, which was super tasty, though the biscuit was a little heavy for an already heavy dish. I would have rather had a light brioche bun or something like that, but if you are looking for a heavy and tasty dish to fill you up this one would sure win a prize. The hand cut french fries were tasty too. We had a pecan fudge brownie for dessert. The caramel sauce was rich and decadent like it should have been. All in all, one of the better spots I've been to in Dana Point, and worth it. read more

Disappointing experience. We had made a reservation for Sunday lunch and had to wait far too long. After suffering through a long explanation by the hostess (just seat us already!) when we were finally seated it was a crapshoot to find who out server was. I ordered a 'mild on the spice' Bloody Mary, the server omitted to mention that they're premixed-not only was it too spicy but it actually tasted awful as well. The server was not happy to take it back after 1 sip snd did not offer me an alternative cocktail. We waited 45 minutes for our salads to arrive and had no silverware to eat with because they had 'run out' of clean silverware! The Caesar Salad - a dish I frequently order elsewhere - was the poorest example of a Caesar I have had anywhere - bar a cafeteria! The picture does not show the oil on the charred romaine or the dryness of the grilled chicken. The dressing was a Mexican flavored cream - no evidence of Caesar flavoring at all. Crafthouse is a mis-managed disaster and with all the better options nearby we will not return. read more

We just had a post-wedding party at the Craft House for 40 people! After only giving them 24 hours notice... THEY RALLIED AND THE RESTAURANT WAS AMAZING! The service was above and beyond, and everyone worked so hard to help us. Our main server, was a nice, kind, very helpful waiter. All of the staff was great!!! The drinks were AMAZING as well, and the bartenders did a phenomenal job. I had no idea that the pasta was made in house, and it was really good!
