I gave the restaurant over a week to respond to my two phone calls before posting a review. We ordered the brisket burger which was yummy. I however ordered a $14 roasted vegetable salad. Just the kind of place I need in my life. A hip place with good beer and BBQ on the North East side of town.

This place literally makes no sense. I feel like it's a poorly run inside joke. Where if you knew them this place would make sense and you could laugh at it. First of all the hours are listed from 9 to close. Wait when do they close? Is it 10 am? Or is it 1237 at night? Could be either. We got there at 448 pm so maybe after that? Then there's a list of numbered beers in the beer list but it's all jumbled. WHY HAVE THEM NUMBERED? Plus we never knew it was happy hour. No happy hour menus nor did our server tell us about it. We had to hear about it when a different server told a different table about happy hour. I just hope that the food isn't pretentious... Oh wait... 3-17-20 Last time I was here I didn't have a very good time. The beer was odd tasting. But in the year and a half that I was here they have improved very much. The beers I tried today were great. I don't know if anyone who worked there read my last review but I feel as if they made good changes and figured out what to do. great place to meet a friend for lunch. We ate outside on the deck and enjoyed the view with our food. This is a food only review. I had iceberg wedge salad, friend had pork belly cubano, boys ate mac n' cheese, hubs feasted on cornbread, oysters, pork belly lettuce cups and brisket burger. everything was delicious. I ate more of hubs' lunch than my own... it looked and tasted so good! A bit hot outside when the wind dies down and the umbrellas aren't always able to angle to shade all. Another time there was a 40 minute wait (we wanted to sit outside on the deck) for a table, but there was massive picnic-type table between the dining room and the bar that was empty. When we asked to sit there they said 'that's a different servers' section and we can't transfer tabs, so no. You can wait by the front door'; for forty minutes.... standing the entire time?!? Did I mention I have a blood clot and I can't stand like that? I sure as heck mentioned it to the hostess and they said I could wait by the door. I really wanted to try this restaurant, I did. When one has been tasting beer (and drinking wine and cider and swimming and bird watching and Ale Trailing) for three days straight... Brunch is definitely in order! After a quick stop in Crave while on the Bend Ale Trail for a stamp and a read of the menu, Darling and I decided to try the brunch. There were some snafus with the service... Understaffed and an inexperienced hostess; we waited it out anyway. And were happy that we did! The menu at brunch is varied and interesting with lots of house-made items and clever switches such as johnny cakes under the eggs bennies... And Tasso Grits... And a fried oyster omelet with fennel-arugula cream... But what tripped my trigger were the Patatas Bravas served in a small, cast iron skillet. Potatoes. Skillet. Mmmmmmmmm. Even better the crispy, organic, fingerling potatoes were piled on a bed of arugula (twice in two days!) with two perfectly poached, farm-fresh, eggs on top and TWO sauces. Yes. Two. And you know how I feel about sauces. I don't know why 'Saucetarian' isn't a religious sect... One was a smoky tomato sauce and the other was a creamy drizzle of magical, house-made aoili. I shared some of my saucy potatoes with Darling. But only because I really like him. Darling had Biscuits and Gravy and enjoyed them. He even ate all of the biscuit, which was light and fluffy, and gave the dish a three yum salute. We both had coffee because we were driving out of town. But I really wish we could have stayed for the $15 bottomless mimosa and watched the people drifting down the river from the deck for a few hours... Maybe next visit... read more

Nestled in downtown Bend, this little gem cranks out stellar food and drink. On a beautiful summer day one can overlook the Deschutes River while enjoying your time. The beer is awesome, ranging from traditional lagers to experimental stouts. The food is just as amazing as the food and staff. A tentative staff and excellent food makes this a serious destination. I think it was awesome that he reached out to me, I wouldn't have given them another try if he hadn't. He recommended the brisket, so that's what I ordered. 7oz of brisket on a super fresh, soft roll. I had it with fries, but there were several other side options including slaw, green beans and corn bread. Nice size serving for brunch/lunch. If he hadn't recommended the brisket I would have never tried it, but it was pretty tasty. The staff is great. Friendly, quick and efficient and great follow through. I appreciate waitstaff checking in after the order has been received to see if everything is okay. Quick with drinks, food, clearing the table and my check. Not rushed on the check, but efficient after checking into make sure I didn't need anything else. I sat outside this morning, it's been wonderful fall weather and it was really nice. I sat inside the last time and while I didn't love the logistics of my table, I really do like the ambiance of this place. "Not the most inviting" Walked into Craft to catch the game this past Monday night like I have the past three four weeks on Thursdays and Monday's; different bartender... The game was on in the middle of the fourth quarter, bar was FULL, it was 8:28. Was told they had done last call, I asked "just one quick one?"--nope she replied, made last call... Wow! Please disregard any negative reviews. You can't have a village without a village idiot. This place is awesome. Sure there was some growing pains around us. We had to figure out our role versus their role... Mostly a silverware misunderstanding. With this sort of counter service you need clarity in what your expectations are of your customers. With that being said the service was ridiculously fast. The food was ridiculously delicious, the staff was ridiculously welcoming. They gave us a free brisket sammy just because they overhead us lamenting that we didn't order one. By the way the brisket is also......ridiculous. A welcome addition to Bend. Ironically I was craving a smoked turkey sandwich the night before and called another BBQ place, not dropping names.. sounds like schmaldys only to be told we are out of turkey for the next several days. Can't believe I've lived in Bend for almost 3 years now and just barely tried Craft. Amazing food! Kind and helpful staff and great beer. We got lucky and came on a slow night (during the snowpocalypse) so we were sat right away. Our server was very friendly and just seemed happy to be there. After a few recommendations we were served our drinks and food to follow. Holy smokes!!! We ordered the KC combo platter and it was delicious. The brisket and burnt ends were just as good as promised, and I can talk about the corn bread forever!! Best cornbread I've had in a long time. We even had someone in our party who didn't like cornbread (I guess people who don't like cornbread exist!) but became a convert after trying theirs.. so good. We had kids with us and their menu proved to be perfect for them too. Very well served, and just as tasty as the full meals! Also for the much smaller ones (5 and under maybe) they have a little playroom for them! I thought that was a nice little touch. It's filled with toys and play kitchen type thing. Really cute and the little one enjoyed it. As far as beer goes, we were also shocked by the tasty Sour voodoo thunder which we all enjoyed the most. We tried other ones but the sour was most definitely a stand out. I would recommend this place to locals and tourists alike. Just a wonderful atmosphere, kind folks, fantastic food and great drinks. In a city of outstanding breweries this is not one of them. The menu prices and set up is upscale, except for the kid room, silverware in a jar in the middle of the table and ordering counter If you are going to charge a high price, I either want a massive amount of food or make it so good I don't mind. But this one had low flavor, small portions, and the highest priced food of any brewery of our trip. When we ordered our food we told our server we were going to get several samplers and we wanted a minute to chose which ones. She never came back. after 15 Minutes (and I mean an actual 15 minutes) I went to the bar to order our beer. The bartender look kind of surprised and told me he couldn't serve me and that my server would take my order. Now that is some world class service. When our small portion-overpriced-unflavored food came, the server had no where to put it since she had never taken the menu off our table. She just kind of look at us like a deer in head lights. I cleared off the menus to one of the many empty tables so she could put the food down. Nothing says great service like when completely finishing a meal, stacking all of the plates, having no drink in any of the glasses and still having to ask for the bill and then wait some more for her to come back to run the card. We went to 16 breweries during our 2 weeks of travel & Craft kitchen and Brewery wins the worst beer award! Out of 6 samples covering all styles of beer they were all bland at best. Don't go! Don't do it! Throw a rock in any direction from there and you will hit a great brewery. read more

Friendly staff here and a nice food selection if you're into smoked meats!! A kid friendly place with a kids corner and reasonable kids menu! I normally avoid the kid friendly places but the setup here is great that I didn't notice any unruly kids at all. Eat inside or hangout by the gas fireplace on the patio. I don't get people that give five stars to a place like this. If this is five stars, then what do you give a flagship best-in-class nationally recognized restaurant with a James Beard awarded chef? Six? Five again? Why not just use four for a place that's solid but quite honestly not like, the best thing ever. Yelpers make Yelp meaningless. If everything is extraordinary, then nothing is. Anyway, sharp industrial/wood open plan space with a great south facing deck looking over the river and great seating setups with reclaimed wood tables and lots of big/common tables. Food is cajun/creole. I've eaten here three times and most of the food is really solid, and some of it needs work (or supervision). Good drinks, interesting service model. You order at the counter and get a number but then you have a server from there on out. Easy enough. Happy to come back through here again. Takes a minute to figure out what dishes they do well and which miss the mark but the good vibes floating around make up for it. read more

First visit for us. Good - The view and the seating from the outdoor deck was really nice, and I thought the beer was great. Not so good - When we first got inside there was no one to greet us, so I headed over to the counter where you order (apparently) while my wife headed outside to find a seat. She was quickly located by a staff member who "chastised" her for sitting down with no "food order number". She was told she needed to order indoors first, then find a seat. She explained her husband was inside ordering, and he told her that's not how it's done. (I was the only one ordering by the way so it's not like we were trying to jump into better seats) The problem is we often order drinks and enjoy those first, then study the menu before deciding what to get. Here, you have to order it all at once I guess before sitting down. Almost a deal killer - Now, the odd method of ordering wouldn't be a big deal if the food was great, but it wasn't for me, a really dry sandwich with no condiments (meat and bun only) that was a bit overpriced. My wife had a blackened shrimp bowl, and she loved it. Again however, it was really a spendy price for what she got. Not ready to walk away yet, because they're fairly new. One more try because I like their beer, but really, I can say that about a lot of places in Bend. Update - Have been back with much better results since first visit and changed this from 3 stars to 4 stars. read more

I went inside and there was no one inside. Stood there for 5 minutes and no one. Had to peak around back and holler for someone. A guy came out and seemed like he was in a really bad mood. Pros: Parking, kid friendly, seating is typically available, great view from patio, tasty food Cons: Small portions for the price, mediocre beer We've eaten at this place several times and most of them have been negative...issues include hair in food, meat in menu items not indicated on said menu, and small portions. I really want to like this place since it's out of downtown, there's parking, no wait and a spot for kids to play, however it's usually a letdown. The family sized salads are really small for the price, and yes I know Bend is expensive, but you're only as good as your competition. Regarding competition, the beer-bar is high in Oregon and this is one of the worst. I wish this were different since their beer list is creative, but most are uninspired. If they address what comes out of the kitchen they could easily get a few more stars. I hope it does improve, because it's a nice addition to Bend dining in a cool spot. read more

I had high hopes! Having said that, it was not a great visit for our party of three on a summer Friday evening. The ordering process is a little awkward, yes. The space is nice, if a little noisy from all the hard surfaces being banged and clanked together. The deck looked like a terrific spot to watch the river and maybe listen to a little music from the concerts going on at the amphitheater, but we were kept inside by sudden rain and wind gusts. Service was....strange. It was challenging to figure out just who worked there and who didn't, because there seemed to be a lot of wandering around being done by people who turned out to be servers. Our entrees and sides dribbled out of the kitchen one item at a time, which was not a good thing. Servers were walking around with food and asking if tables if they were waiting for whichever item they were carrying. Food. Hmm. I had a muffaletta, which is classic southern food, imo. The olive tapenade, pretty important to this sandwich, was more like rough chopped vegetables or a salad than the finely chopped olives, peppers, and capers that make up a tapenade. Disappointing. The meat had an odd, overcooked texture. Our sides, cornbread, slaw, beans...all okay, not worth tackling that passing waiter to grab. I love the idea of a pub menu that's dedicated to southern food, but guys...it needs work. So does the beer. Two of us at this dinner are true Oregon beer geeks, and the taplist was uninspiring. If the brewer is the person I think it is, I don't hold out a lot of hope there. We probably won't go back, which really does make me sorry to say. At the end of the evening, we gave up on Craft, and went over to Crux for desserts, which came with some inspired beer pairings. Should have gone there first. read more

Great place! The turkey sandwich was moist, the poppy slaw was absolutely delicious and the side of cornbread was great, crispy with butter. Their fries were salted to our liking. Our waitress was wonderful and she delivered my iced tea just the way I like; 1/2 regular & 1/2 sweet tea. Lots of ice and she brought extra lemons in a small dish, not on a toothpick by hand! First time in today and I don't understand the negative criticism. This is a great and undiscovered spot in Bend that is very kid friendly! The food: Had a combination of their weekend brunch items and their standard lunch fare and both were excellent. Good flavors and overall delicious. In addition to the good food, friendly staff, and great view they have a great kids play area where your little ones can play and have a good time while waiting for your food.
