My friends and I went to dinner at Crafthouse on Sunday night. We had never been there before (at least, not since it was Fanfare many years ago). The food was okay but I absolutely have to commend the service! We arrived pretty late (it was after 10:00) and we sat at the bar. The young man working there was so incredibly helpful. It had been a pretty long day for us and we were just looking for someplace to go to unwide. He helped us decide on some appetizers and served us some pretty amazing drinks. We felt really bad coming in so late because it was obvious that the restaurant is incredibly short staffed. The young man tending the bar appeared to be waiting tables in the dining room as well. I myself work in the hospitality industry and saw that the staff was doing the best with what they could. Keep up the good work guys! We will be back! read more

Met some friends on a Sunday at 1:30 pm. Weather was warm enough that people were outside more than inside, but due to the wind, we decided to eat indoors. We were the only ones there at first. Ordered three burgers, chicken wings and drinks. Waiter was friendly, he may have been the bar tender as well. When it came time for the burgers, they all came back well done vs medium. It did take a long time for the burgers to come out as well. We requested the burgers be made as requested so we sent them all back. It took a long time again to get the burgers, but when they did come, two were served. The third one took even longer. Not sure why it took so long. I give this place a low rating for many reasons. To start off the fried pickles were not your typical fried pickles. They were larger in size and had more of a bitter taste. I ordered the chicken sandwich fried/spicy. It was a very flavorful chicken breast and seasoned really well topped with a sesame bun. I ordered onion rings as my side and they were nice and crunchy to complement the sandwich. Now let's get into the low rating .. the waiter Shannon wasn't the most approachable. Yes I understand she was the only server for the entire floor but she showed that in her attitude and body language when taking our order or when we asked for things. The pizza .. had no flavor . Reminded us of a cafeteria pizza. The "blue cheese" that is pictured had a chunk of "idk" floating around. We asked for another side of blue cheese and it tasted spoiled/rotten. I was at crafthouse on a Wednesday night with some friends. It was my first time there. First impressions, the location was not hard to find, And there was plenty of parking. When going in there was sign stating seat yourself, we decided to sit at the bar. There wasn't many people there. No music was playing just the basketball was on. Which was fine. I order the cheesesteak & fries and a drink from the bar. I currently can't remember the drink. My friend had one the grill cheese sandwiches and my other friend order the steak bowl and we had the Buffalo chicken dip. Everything was pretty good. I was thrown by the taste of fries. It was seasoned with rosemary I did request for a new fries without the seasoning but I was informed that they did not offer that and could only give me tater tots. I wish they had an option for regular fries. One of the bar tenders tried to say that tater tots are the same as fries. it's not. Lol. Other than my rosemary fries. Everything else was good. While we were enjoying our meals and drinks music did come and the they started setting up for karaoke night. We had no clue it was karaoke night. Although karaoke is fun, we was not expecting that and we could no longer hear each other talk. So if u want to go have drinks and chat with friends here try not to go on karaoke night. Pros: - lots of outdoor seating Cons: - no hostess when I went so I had to ask around if I was supposed to seat myself wherever I wanted. - food is nothing to rave about. - service was slow. Waiter left all our water at the table next to us and said all but 2 of the drinks were ours. - don't order kids meals. They are over priced. August 2021 - COVID Review: The Fairfax Crafthouse location has so much seating now due to COVID protocols in Fairfax Corner. They still have indoor and outdoor seating on their patio, but now the street adjacent to the restaurant is closed down to allow for more outdoor seating. The staff is attentive and nice the few times that I've been here! I also love that there's such an extensive food and drinks menu. They also have a weekend brunch menu option! Their beer menu features so many on there but unfortunately they don't offer beer flights. But there's definitely bound to be drink options for all tastebuds! read more

After two visits on back to days to Crafthouse I'm going to unload a full 5 Stars for the small local chain. Find them in the upscale Fairfax Corner shopping area among shopping and restaurants. You can find lots of solid fast casual and full service dining options which drew me to the area. The parking lot in the outdoor food "court" type area was spacious and tidy. The Crafthouse has a couple of local restaurants in the DC area. From looking at the outside with large patio I did not get the feel of chain and that's a good thing in my book. The walk up to their door was tidy. The interior has a fabulous sports bar vibe with large bar, tv's and plenty of large wooden tables. For a Friday/Saturday lunch they were quite busy. Restrooms are right rear and I found the men's room clean with proper supplies. The highlight is beer and more beer. They do not play when it comes to selection, or the amount of taps offered. Over 50 brews can be found on tap and hundreds of bottles in nearby well lit visible coolers. The exposed brick work behind the taps is darn sleek. An example of a more rare type of bottle I saw was Bourbon County and variants. This is a beer nerd paradise. On both occasions bar service was strong and of special note Chevy who was friendly and more importantly knowledgeable about craft beer. Recommendations on beer and burgers were perfect! I felt like a regular on my first visit and I can tell you that is a special feeling in my book. On both visits I had burgers and fries. Short Rib Brisket w/ fries was juicy, flavorful and packed a punch on the size. The Cowboy equally packed a punch and was juicy. The bread on both sandwiches fresh and fries hot and seasoned to perfection. The beer from The Bruery, 11 Piper's Piping on draft was phenomenal! Home run on food and drink pairing. After two great visits of service, food and beer I see no reason to hold back. I must say the sub 4 composite score is puzzling. We walked into the restaurant on a beautiful Saturday early afternoon.. As soon as we walked in noticed it was empty, and what appeared to be employees all sitting around a hightop table and one lone person at the bar. It was very warm inside-thought about going out, but the level of disinterest coming from the employee at the bar (male, dark hair, glasses, hefty) to even acknowledge us, and then to say they don't have actual menus and requires use of a CR code (think COVID) turned us both off. For me, he wouldn't even stop chopping the limes or whatever he was doing to acknowledge us as customers, and just as I told my hubby "let's go" a customer came in from the outdoor seating area and asked if he could get service. Wanted to check out quick a local place to grab some food and drinks before a concert. This place has a great selection of beers and happy hour specials that run until 9pm. The menu has a wide selection of food ranging from burgers, pizzas, salads, and appetizers. We decided to get a few flatbreads (chicken Florentine and spicy sausage and pepperoni), and the fried Mac and Cheese. The flat breads were a good size enough for two people and tasted great! Pizzas with this many toppings tend to be very oily and falls apart upon the first bite. But they did it right here. Every bite held together and the flavors worked well together. The fried Mac and Cheese, although a great concept, was bland. It would have probably benefited from more seasoning in the breadcrumbs so make sure you eat it with a lot of the marinara sauce if you decide to order it. As far as the brews, they have something for everyone from your novice beer drinks to the frequent microbrewery visitors. You can't go wrong with the Port City Optima Wit and really any of their IPAs. The service was okay. It was self seating and we had to ask for refills frequently. They were busy so you can't really ding the servers too much. Overall, good place to go for happy hour if you are in the area. Great location and good specials. Came to Crafthouse to causally celebrate a birthday and play trivia (every Tuesday). We had a fairly larger group of 9 people but easily found 2 high tables to merge as 1. Our waiter was attentive and made sure we had whatever we needed. The trivia was so so fun! There were I think 10 rounds - they would switch off from a round of trivia questions asked through the mic and a round on paper with all the instructions on that. My team ended in third place which was pretty cool! I ordered the 2 tacos for $7 (Tuesday special) with Chipotle Chicken and Ahi Tuna Tacos. They were both pretty massive especially for such a cheap price! Both were delicious, I think I liked the chipotle chicken a bit more just because it was a little more flavorful. I intended on just having one drink, but the bartender (I wish I remembered his name) was very personable and had the attitude I like on a bartender. My wife and I were struggling to decide on which brew to drink, so he took it upon himself to offer several samples free of charge. He would go on to provide us free samples all night - what a guy. We eventually settled on our beer of choice, but we ended up having quite a few. And to top it off, the bartender even gave us a discount. Safe to say I opened my wallet wide and left him a very generous tip. But I can afford it, I'm a very rich man. Sure I got another DUI on the way home, but no need to worry. (Think you need to reformulate your recipe...) - The Mini Cheeseburgers were meh tasting and did not come out PIPING HOT - Fries came out lukewarm and not piping hot - My fried shrimp taco COULD HAVE BEEN a winner - shrimp was crispy and sauce was tasty but the tortilla it was wrapped in was thick, bland and cold (I.e., not warmed) which detracted from the overall taste and enjoyment of the tacos. The icing on the cake was the final bill of almost $60 BEFORE TIP (see pic) - completely not worth that for what we got and for the service we received. When you spend hard earned money and have a multitude of choices of where to spend it, you expect at least a MINIMUM standard threshold (you hope for more than that!) of ambience, service, food quality / taste and overall value of the dining experience for your hard earned cash! It's really that simple and not hard to get right. Granted we didn't come to Crafthouse to 'drink and be merry' so perhaps we were the wrong 'client profile.' Crafthouse actually consists of three restaurants and bar facilities. I will focus on Crafthouse - Fairfax which is behind Ozzie's and is in the Fairfax Corners shopping area. Crafthouse is focused largely on supply good beer to its clientele. It does not manufacture its own brew, but it keeps approximately 80 lines of constantly changing beer. Follow that up with a relative small wine selection and a respectable distilled spirits collection and Crafthouse fills an important role in Fairfax Corner. They also have a pretty nice food menu as well. It is worth checking out! read more

This place has great outdoor seating, live music and a variety of drinks. That's where the positives stop. We asked for a high chair and was given one for the bar. The food was horrible. Crab dip with no crab, pita chips overcooked and greasy. The nuggets were also burnt. The manager came out when we said the asked for chips to replace the pita and he asked what's going on here? He said he wouldn't charge us for the chips. We ended up getting charged. It took 4 cycles to get the bill taken care of. I really liked this place! The layout was nice with a long bar, outside seating, and main dining booths and long tables (in the fashion of a cantine cafeteria style). This place is a solid 4/5 stars because the food is only reasonably priced during Happy Hour. Regular hours, I would not be satisfied as the prices are way too high for the quality of the food. This place is perfect for if you want to just get CRAFT beers or a nice array of bourbons, whiskeys, etc. The food is just like an afterthought (in my opinion). It's not to say that the food is by default bad, but I'd argue that people come here more for the overall environment and the drink selection. My dining companion and I decided to sit at the bar as it was later in the evening and it appeared that the restaurant was trying to close up the normal seating areas. The nachos were stereotypical of any nachos that you'd get anywhere. Nothing special, but nothing bad. My dining companion really liked the Spinach & Artichoke Dip. I thought it was okay. It wasn't the greatest but it wasn't bad. I didn't really like the bread that it was served with. I preferred using the bread bowl that was holding the dip. The Mac & Cheese Bites were huge and they were pretty good! But again, nothing special about them. It tasted like it could have been the Velveeta Mac & Cheese. They just rolled them into balls and deep-fried it with some crusting. The marinara sauce was a nice addition and provided a complexity in flavour. Since I'm back and forth between the area every so often, I'm really happy to find Crafthouse as a new place to hang out and grab drinks or even catch up on notes. There are three floors with plenty of seating. My friends and I came on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and although is was pretty full we were able to find a place to sit among their ample amount of tables and chairs. We ordered our things at the front then sat down so our waiters could find us and hand over our food-- which consisted of the grilled cheese sandwich with fries and an order of brussels sprouts. The grilled cheese and fries were exceptionally well. I mean you can't really mess up grilled cheese but honestly it was one of the best grilled cheeses I've had. The fries however literally looked and tasted like mcdonald's fries. I'm not complaining though-- I love those fries, I just found it interesting. The brussels sprouts themselves were tasty as well, though I feel like they were made a little too burnt. However, I did like the surprise raisins that they had in there. I'm not sure if their sangria was a special seasonal flavor or something but it had the hint of that fall spice that was really warming to me, especially since I spend a lot of time on a tropical island. We came in around 2pm for a late lunch on labor day, it was not busy at all which made sense since I'm sure people were at work or at a labor day event. I tried a $5 dirty martini, their special on Mondays are $5 martinis and burgers, I chose not to get a burger because I'm cutting down on my beef consumption. I got the chicken sliders with fries, it's listed as an appetizer, but I got it as my meal because it looked delicious and it was! It was a perfectly portioned lunch for me, 3 sliders with a small side of fries. The dirty martini I got was strong and tasted good. It was my 1st non-sweet martini. I may stick to the girly/sweet martinis from now on though, but if you don't like sweet alcoholic beverages I recommend trying a dirty martini. My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich and liked it, it came with a small side of fries which he was surprised by, but he ate everything and was full. I like this place when it's quiet, when it's loud, it's LOUD. It can get overwhelming, but I guess it's the nature of places like this when they're crowded.
