1lb of snow grab legs and 1/2lb of shrimp with the head on.- very salty
    Nicole N.

I was craving seafood and decided to give this place a try despite the reviews already being low. I should have listened... There is plenty of free parking but the outside of the building looks like it is falling apart. The inside had a lot of fun colors, decorations and decor! Very fun! The service was just ok. Very quiet server and I felt like I got forgotten. There weren't many people there, so it would have been nice to have the server check in. The food: The pop here tasted like cleaner... I suppose it's good they are cleaning their fountain soda machine, but I shouldn't taste it. The fried calamari was very hard and chewy. It was also only rings when the picture shows the tentacles as well. I would not get that again. The snow crab and shrimp were good but the house seasoning is overly salty and no garlic! I love when there are bits of garlic in the sauce! Overall I would compare this to the same level as a red lobster. Nothing special and if you are craving a seafood boil, there are definitely better ones around!

    This is what we ordered.

My daughter had cravings for seafood boil late one evening and I looked up the nearest location. They are about to close in 30 minutes. I called the restaurant to see if we can place an order to pickup and the guy said sure. We showed up 10 minutes before closing and the food was just about done and packing. Order the seafood platter if you want a variety, otherwise if you're just craving one item they sell by pound. Boom seasoning is recommended. The restaurant is nice, decorated with fishing nets and sharks, lobster, and other sea creatures. Big dining room, can accommodate small and large parties. They have a parking lot as well.

Walking into Crafty Crab with a party of six, we were ready to roll up our sleeves, tie on our bibs, and get messy seafood boil style! And oh, did it deliver. Crafty Crab served up a fun, flavorful feast for our group of six from fresh, briny raw oysters to a massive, mouthwatering King's Platter with snow crab legs, crispy onion rings, and a surprisingly tasty chicken salad, it was messy, delicious, and a total seafood-lover's dream! Service was fantastic and attentive. Always being aware of our every need and checking in on our meal and seeing if we needed anything more. 9/10 Come hungry, bring friends and don't wear a white shirt.

This was the 2nd time we've been here and I was craving a seafood boil! We ordered to go as we don't live nearby and wanted to eat at home. We love mussels, but weren't a fan of the ones we got as the texture wasn't the way we've had them before. We called to alert the manager (we don't do this often!) and he made it right. We went back in and they replaced them with something of our choosing. My rating would have been very different if we didn't go back and swap out those. (It would have also been a 5 star without them!). We got the fried shrimp. OMG!!! This was the best fried shrimp I've ever had!!! You need to get them! Normally we wouldn't get a fried shrimp basket because I'm used to the frozen breaded style shrimp from most places. This blew my socks off! If Raising Cane's breading and a fresh juicy shrimp had a baby... that would be how good their shrimp basket was!!! We also love love loved the hush puppies. My grandmother raised us with southern style cooking and these were just like hers! I recommend getting the spice blend rubbed on them! So good! The fried catfish wasn't fishy and it was flakey and fresh. My hubby got a side of the gumbo and he really enjoyed. Overall, there is great management at this location and they really know how hospitality works. We don't complain often unless something is really off, but he impressed us! We will be back for that tasty fried shrimp... it's worth the drive!!!

It was something new to try. I always drive pass it so I decided to go try it. Honestly i was disappointed with the place. Food: The price of the king crab was unreasonable. The king crab was about $65 for only two legs and they werent even big. The sauce was super salty and when it came out of the kitchen the food was barely hot. It was just warm. The oysters sauce was salty and the oysters itself was small. Maybe it was just me, but I literally thought that 1/2 lb was a good decent amount of food, but honestly i don't know what their 1/2lb of crawfish or seafood was. Only ate like two crawfish and overall had only 6 crawfish. I was literally counting the crawfish . I am disappointed in the corn because the corn wss overcook. The boil egg was good to the seafood boil. But overall, the sauce and amount was ok. It is not the best place i have gone to and i am not sure if i would come back. I think the king crab was too pricey for only getting two leg. Overall, it is oka, if you want to try something go ahead. The services was ok, but it could have been better.

Great ambiance and great seafood boil. We got an order of shrimp to share and then two snow crab seafood platters. I loved that you could select your level of spice and mix and match seasonings. We did the combination seasonings, medium spice, potatoes, corn, egg, shrimp and crab. Such a fun experience.

This is a repeat visit for my family. We love the seafood broil here. We usually order the lobster special with lemon pepper and it is delish! The service is great, very attentive and always ready to answer our questions. The place is also nicely decorated and fits the theme!

This is my favorite Sea Food boil spot in the Twin Cities so far. Although the the price is a little steeper than other sea food boil places, they make up for it in the excellent quality of there Crab legs and Shrimp (what I mainly get) which for me makes it worth the price. Also the service is very nice and caring. It does get crowded sometimes, especially on the weekend which I understand why with the quality of this restaurant. The decorations and vibe of the place is really nice too, to match with the quality of the place. Usually stores have one or the other but Crafty Crab has both and better which is why it's my favorite sea food boil today.

The food was delicious and came super fast! The crab was cooked so well I didn't even need to use a cracker to get the meat out. The shrimp was large and easy to peel. The corn and potatoes were super tasty with the sauce! The service was great our waitress was super kind, quick, and attentive! The ambiance is great they have good music and the decoration is very cool!!

We weren't greeted when we walked in and were left standing at the front wondering if we had to seat ourselves until someone finally came out and just brought us to one of the empty tables. There was another empty table that hadn't been bussed with the plastic bag containing seafood boil and half eaten corn by us, and it was clear that this place was short staffed. Now, to be clear, the biggest faults of this place don't stem from them being short staffed (like the unbussed tables or the wait to sit down). It comes from the mediocrity of the food and the filthy bathroom. We ordered some beef skewers (5 pieces) which were just fine. We also ordered the seafood boil with medium spice garlic sauce, peeled shrimp, snow crab cluster, and added sausages. When I asked the server how spicy their "spicy" is, I was told "it depends on what your spice tolerance is," which was entirely unhelpful. When the boil came out, we didn't receive a lobster cracker despite ordering crab legs, and just had to crack them ourselves. The sauce left no impression besides being mostly garlic and whatever nondescript sauce that provided a slight modicum of heat. The best thing was the sausage, which probably came out of a package. The worst part of the visit was when I had to go to the bathroom, which I walked into a dingy, dark bathroom where one stall was "out of order" and the other was so filthy that your average frat bathroom in the middle of a rager party probably would have been cleaner. I just made a beeline straight out of the bathroom. I try to give small businesses the benefit of the doubt, as I realize that many improvements require $$$ which means that you need more customers and you need renovations to get more customers etc.. etc.. but for now I think I would tell my friends and anyone reading this to steer clear.

We walked in to see a staff member who clearly didn't enjoy his job. He didn't greet us and made us approach him before he asked how many people would be dining. Looking into the dining room, there were several empty tables that had not been bused, and there was only one other party dining at the time. This was already a red flag, indicating that the staff didn't care about the cleanliness or appearance of the dining room. The menu is very extensive. From the outside, it isn't clear, but The Cajun House is a Chinese restaurant first and a seafood boil restaurant second. The first page of the menu is entirely dedicated to dim sum. I was surprised to see that they were serving dim sum late at night, and I questioned how fresh everything was. Flipping through the menu, about two out of ten pages were dedicated to seafood boil or Cajun dishes, which was a bit unexpected given the restaurant's name. Anyway, we decided to go for the seafood boil, and ordered a side of beef skewers to try. From former reviews and pictures, it seemed like these were the most popular items. The beef skewers came out first. One order was 13 dollars and came with five skewers. This was on the pricier side but not unfair. We split the dish. The beef had decent flavor, although nothing crazy. It wasn't fatty, but it had some seasoning on it to make up for the lack of quality. The beef was also relatively tender. It had a bit of a chew, but in a pleasant way, pretty much the texture I would look for in a noodle or fried rice dish. I was somewhat satisfied with this dish. For the seafood boil, we went for the combo. Every combo comes with two potatoes and two pieces of corn by default, each of which can be added on for two dollars each, a sauce, and a selection of two different seafood components. We went for the shrimp and "crab cluster" for an additional three dollars, adding on a dozen sausage slices and the garlic butter sauce. Right off the bat, it was easy to tell that the seafood wasn't very fresh. Both the crab and shrimp had a weird, off-putting flavor and aftertaste. It was slightly fishy and didn't sit well on my palette. We also weren't given anything to crack the crab shell with. We resorted to just using our teeth and trying our best to pull it apart with our hands, and using the skewer sticks from the beef to push out the meat. The garlic butter sauce wasn't great either. The meat wasn't picking up the sauce very well and retained very little flavor. The highlight for me was the sausage. It was surprisingly smoky and burst with flavor. It picked up some of the sauce, but the flavor I liked definitely came independent of the sauce. The potato and corn were both fine. They had decent texture, especially the corn. The potato was on the mushy side, but still served its purpose. For a lot of our meal, there were no employees in sight. It was impossible to wave anyone down. Our waiter was sitting down out of sight, and the only other worker we saw seemed to be working the back of the house. When we finished our food, it wasn't clear if we were supposed to wait for someone to bring us the check. We waited about five to seven minutes before someone came in to pick up an online order. When our waiter popped out to give the customer their order, we walked up to the front and paid out. We weren't given a check to make sure there weren't any mistakes, and just had to go with what he said. From start to finish, the service was really bad. The only time we got a refill on water was when our food got delivered. Other than that, we were never checked on. It just seemed like our waiter didn't care at all. The dining room was messy and unorganized, and the food was generally mediocre, with the seafood leaving a lot to be desired. There was plenty more on the menu to try, especially the Chinese food, but everything seemed dirty, and I didn't like how I was questioning the cleanliness of the food. This combined with the very unpleasant experience I had with the service will definitely discourage me from coming back.

We also shared combo 1 and added 1lb of snow crab (two clusters). The House Cajun sauce was good, but heavy on garlic/"jarlic" and could have been saucier. Next time I'd ask for/order a side of extra sauce for dipping. The dish could have used more than 2 (halves) or corn on the cob. Everything in the boil tasted good! Some other highlights: 1) there's a shared parking lot to the side of the building as well as metered parking in the front. It was busy when I went, so I parked around the corner- for free. 2) I wasn't a fan of the ordering process. Before I get into why, I'd recommend browsing the menu ahead of time to determine what you want. That said, we had a reservation (on Valentine's Day) and the place was understandably busy. There wasn't a hostess station so we headed to the register to check-in. That's where we learned that before being seated, we'd have to first order (and pay). With how extensive the menu was, and crowded the immediate area was- the process felt a bit chaotic and overwhelming. 3) The space is cute. A good amount of tables, and simple but cute decor. After being seated, staff stopped by at different points with bibs, gloves, and disposable plates/utensils. 4) Food took a long time to come out, but I won't ding them because again... it was busy. However, having to remind and re-remind staff of missing items (rice, garlic bread) did leave an unfavorable impression. My hope is things are more buttoned-up on an average day. That said, while I'm giving grace for the cons I still rate it as okay. I'd be down for giving it another shot during a non-peak period to see if the experience is better or the same.
