I can't even say I "checked in" here. Sis and I wanted Sunday brunch and I saw on FB post that they had affordable brunch options. Plus, I've wanted to try this place for a while. Parking was easy on the lot behind the building, next to the Big White House. The building must be having renovations as there was scaffolding all around it, with a main staircase entryway covered to protect people from things falling. We walked in and I was impressed by the look of the entryway. Rich architecture history from the old post office. We waited for a hostess to either take our name or bring us to a table but no one ever came. There was 2 women with 2 kids sat at a low table in the entryway, near the bathroom. And I could see the dining room filled with families with little kids. I observed that no one was eating but had water glasses filled. I saw a little boy (4yo??) walk out of the dining room, across the front entrance behind the hostess table and down an empty corridor.... no adult?? And then I watched one of the women at the low top table get up, walk down that same empty corridor and come back a few moments later a little perturbed. She muttered something to her table mate that piqued my interest. After seeing their empty water glasses and milk cups (kids), I asked if THEY had been served yet. The other lady said they had been waiting for over an hour. Everything was starting to add up. No one was eating. We hadn't been greeted after standing there for about 10 mins. I never saw any waitstaff either. Nope, not gonna do that. And we walked out. Maybe I'll try again, maybe I won't. Time will tell. read more

A great little venue inside a renovated former post office. The setting comes across as that of a very high-end restaurant, which is quite the contrast to the dinner menu itself. Their food is a take on Jamaican and Asian fusion, which lends itself some nice options, but I wouldn't describe any of it to be "fine dining." There isn't anything wrong with this, but it just feels a bit odd in the setting. For our meal, we started with the Egg Rolls, which blended a traditional Asian dish with Jamaican Jerk Chicken. They were solid. For mains, we tried the Red Snapper and Red Curry. Both were good, but not spectacular. In particular, the red curry was a bit overpriced - I've had better takes with heartier portions for less than half the price elsewhere in the metro. The Snapper was a good blend, and quite the surprise in a positive way! Very cool venue, decent food options, and a speakeasy beneath that make this a solid 3.5 star. Worth a try, just know it's not really "fine dining" IMO. read more

7:30 PM Reservation - showed up on time. The place had a good vibe (to start). Appetizer arrived in 10 minutes and the drinks 20 minutes later. Dinner showed up after 9:15 PM. The group sat in front of us received their dinners at 9:30 PM. We ordered two Ribeyes and a Filet steak dinners. Filet was 1" thick max. The ribeyes arrived in three pieces, cooked on all edges and definitely not to ordered temperature. Who precuts and cooks a ribeye steak like that?!? Brussels sprouts were burnt on one side. Service provider disappeared for 20+ minutes at a time. Disappointing all around. I would not recommend this place! read more

We had high hopes for Club 300 on our date night, but walked away feeling, well, meh.... The ambiance once inside is intriguing, but there are very simple elements they could do from a craftsmanship perspective that would make it fantastic. Attention to detail is important. Our server lacked knowledge of the menu, when asked what her recommendations were she pointed at other tables and rattled off their orders - not particularly what we were hoping for. We ordered the Prime Rib for me and the Tequila Shrimp Pasta for my beautiful bride. The starter salad was nothing spectacular - but sufficient. The Prime rib was cooked to a perfect medium rare, but it was very tough, not what you would expect from this cut. Flavor was ok, but the tough chew was hard to get past. The AuGratin Potatoes tasted like they were reheated from days before, no creaminess, no crisp, blah. Asparagus was good with a slight char, which I love. Was supposed to come with horseradish sauce but didn't, apparently they were 'out'. The pasta came with 6 nice sized shrimp a bit over cooked. The sauce for the pasta was buttery/citrusy, but hard to detect the tequila. Sauce was also very black pepper forward, too much for my wife's liking. Crostini was a nice addition. Club 300 is a Jamasian (Jamaican Asian Infusion) restaurant, there were no dishes that suggested this. It seems like they might have an identity issue. The outside of the building was also unappealing, weeds and tall grass everywhere, old railing leaning up against the wall right by the front entrance. All issues that could be rectified in a couple hours of upkeep. Overall this experience was disappointing for a 'supper club'. read more

I had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant that words can barely capture. We had 6:00 dinner reservations for a party of six to celebrate a milestone birthday. We started our evening downstairs at the speakeasy at 5:00. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks, though we were able to carry them upstairs. The dinner service was chaotic. Two chicken marsala dishes arrived first, followed by three more meals about 10 minutes later (beef stroganoff x2 and chicken parmesan), and finally, the last dish (prime rib) arrived 15 minutes after that. When we pointed out to our waitress that the chicken parmesan was burnt to a crisp and inedible, she promised to have the kitchen prepare a new plate. By the time the replacement arrived 40 minutes later, everyone else at our table had already finished their meals. The cut of meat served as prime rib was not prime rib--it had grill marks on both sides, a tendon running through the middle, and was extremely tough, resembling a sirloin. Despite walking through the restaurant on three occasions to find assistance from any employee, we were unsuccessful each time. We are professionals in the food industry, so we extend a great deal of grace, but this experience was unlike anything we've ever seen. Our waitress did not return until the end to give us the check. We were never offered drink refills, including water. How can the kitchen serve panko-crusted chicken that is black on all sides? How does the kitchen not know what a prime rib is, or willingly serve another cut of meat in its place? This is simply unacceptable. For parties of six or more, they automatically charge a 20% gratuity. We expected a higher quality of food and service for the price. read more

We had a group of five for a birthday dinner; had made reservations days earlier. It took a while to be seated, despite the restaurant being only a quarter full and having a previous reservation. Our waitress was sweet, and it seemed was really trying, but was clearly overworked as we saw her downstairs in Nukkys afterwards tending to the bar patrons as well. They were out of many of the staples on their menu. No walleye, no top sirloin, no shrimp cocktail to name a few. The food overall, was good when it finally arrived 45 minutes later. We went downstairs to Nukkys afterwards. My daughter and I have been coming to Nukkys at least once a month since it opened. It was a special place. Now the service is poor, under new management. The owner tried to offer us a shot of tequila because we had been waiting for service for so long. We did not get our drinks for 30 minutes. There is also pull tabs now when there used to not be... It just feels like a cheap VFW at this point and not a cool quintessential speakeasy like it used to be. No longer my favorite place to go. I won't be back for a long time. And I have definitely will not go to club 300 again. read more

We wanted to like this spot, but it was so underwhelming. The first thing I noticed was the old smell of the building. I don't know why, but it was super unappetizing to me and just didn't give the best first impression. We ordered the truffle fries as an appetizer. They were not crispy fries, nor were they truffle flavored. They were, however, tasty. Our salads tasted like leftovers, with wilted greens and onions and stale tasting dressing. Our steaks were cooked well. We ordered au gratin potatoes, which were a combination of cooked and crunchy. Our asparagus was green and brown. Overall, it is nice to have an alternative to Texas Roadhouse for a steak dinner in this neck of the woods. That said, there is a lot of room for improvement. read more

My wife and I chose the Club 300 in nearby Anoka to celebrate our 25th anniversary. I inquire well ahead of time to be sure of the best possible table, etc. and the hostess was more than accommodating. In fact, she made it a fun and enjoyable process. When we arrive for our reservation the place was quiet and cool, just perfect. Our hostess, who had helped me a few weeks earlier, was cordial and welcoming, giving us a variety of options for table location. We liked the one she had picked out, sat down and ordered appetizers which were fabulous. We had to ask for bread to be brought to the table because the wait got a bit long for the appetizers to arrive and when the bread came it was warm and moist, perfect. Our meal was delicious as was our dessert. Our hostess/waitress was super about attending to us. Overall we had a most delightful evening and would recommend Club 300 to anyone. read more

If I wanted to clean my teeth with charcoal, I would've visited Walgreens. It would be much cheaper! We ordered two ribeyes, risotto, and filet mignon fillet mignon. These so-called risotto was more like something you would get a Chipotle and was served with guacamole and sour cream and black beans. The menu describes the risotto as "arborio rice cooked down with stock, wine and seasonal vegetables." What you actually get is basically somebody ran down the street to chipotle. The ribeye was pretty good, but exceptionally salty. This ribeye was definitely a choice and not a prime cut of beef. We arrived at about 7:15 PM, and by that time they had already run out of prime rib, which was one of the cornerstones of their menu. We kept dabbling at other items on the menu, and learned that they were not only out of side salads, but also out of mashed potatoes. The $10 appetizer of grilled bread was basically some slices of bread thrown on a grill and was not served with any bread or oil or anything else. All hope was not lost though, when the cocktails arrived, all be it 30 minutes later after we ordered, they were sufficiently boozy and delicious. We were a party of four persons. In spite of that, a 18% gratuity was added into our bill. This is definitely not customary. I cannot make a positive recommendation for anybody to come to this restaurant. Even though we felt sorry for the servers, because they are not the people who actually cook the food, the servers in spite of all that still didn't even manage to fill up our water. We really like to support local business, but it just doesn't make sense in this case. Waiter warned us that there was a large party, so the kitchen was slow. 20 minutes after we ordered, they came back to tell us that they were out of my entree. I was not expecting all this renovated US post office had in store for us! I walked in and was WOWED right off the bat. The lobby is grand and just plain amazing. The dining areas were stunning and the tables were "dressed" to perfection. The staff was professional and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. We passed on the alcohol and wine but they had a sophisticated collection of wine choices and some incredible cocktails, almost too beautiful to drink! The food was delicious as you may have guessed. This is a goofy place - underwhelming and contradictory - I won't be back. Club 300 portrays itself as a white linen, top shelf place with 5 star Jamaican Asian fusion style cuisine. Everything is white, glass, silver, crystal, white linen...you get the idea. I literally had 4 forks, 4 spoons, and 4 knives at my place setting! This isn't chef made top shelf food though. The food is mostly underwhelming and moderate quality...more like bar food. (Actually, I've been to bars that were a lot better.) And the service was weird. My Sampler Platter was really a joke for 14 bucks. The first thing I noticed was that everything was very small, about half the size what I would expect. The wings were decent. But the steak bites were boring and chewy (a higher grade of beef, please), the pot stickers were tiny & bland, the cheese rolls were little stuffed cream cheese things about the size of Chapsticks, and finally, the "beef patty" was just strange. They were lacking in spice, super flat, breaded things with a thin layer pate inside. To top it all off, my server forgot the dipping sauces. He brought them out after nearly half my food was gone. My Rasta Pasta was underwhelming. It was lacking...something. It just really needed more flavor and spice. Even a little salt would have helped things along. Someone should have consulted with a professional chef on these recipes. Surprisingly, my coconut chicken soup was excellent! It was Southeast Asian style with lemon grass - yum! Then again, I can get that at any Thai or Vietnamese joint around the Twin Cities. My pastries were great too. I ordered the Concerto. Then again, they're all from Truffles & Torts the next block over. So I could just go there and cut out the middleman, right? The service was weird too. My server was overly friendly and casual. He hung around my table too much & he blabbed too much. Then he played birthday guitar for another table, "Happy birthday to you - cha, cha, cha!" The "cha, cha, cha" thing was an odd spectacle and out of place when set against all the fancy white linen & silver. Make up your mind. Are you a 5 star restaurant? Or are you a local bar? Finally, my server managed to really piss me off and he refused to put my extra entrée in a container for me. Why? This has never happened to me before. He just slapped the container on my table and expected me to scoop from an oversized serving bowl. I tried to insist that he do it for me. But he resisted and said, "It's okay if you spill." Is this white glove service? I don't think so! My shirt and the table linens say otherwise! Again, are you a 5 star restaurant? Or are you Denny's? I think I liked the antique store that used to be here better than Club 300! I won't be back to this one. I don't wish ill will on anyone. We tried two meals as a take out for my husband's birthday today. We tried the Island Ribs and Tropical Chicken, both were good and came with seasonal vegetables. The carrots in the mix were beautiful and artistically cut. The French Fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and were very tasty. It was easy to order and pickup the food. There is parking in front on Main Street, or pull onto 3rd and park in the parking lot next to the building. There are additional meals I would like to try and we'll go back again. What a disappointment!!! We had really high hopes for our valentine dinner date. We walked in and it was okay and from there it went downhill. This old lady who was the hostess sat us right next to the bathrooms. At first we didn't say anything, but then we could smell the bathrooms, so we asked if we could sit somewhere else. The old lady came back and said we can follow her so we were happy but as we were getting up she made a very passive aggressive remark she said and I quote "oh it smells fresh over here". She thought we didn't hear her but we did. From there we left because I did not want to give my money to a business who workers are rude and who don't value their customers. Went for the first time tonight with my husband. We ordered the chicken jerk egg rolls and they were fantastic! Loved how crispy they were and the dipping sauces. I ordered the chicken curry pasta and the sauce was flavorful, veggies cooked well, but the chicken was dry and tough to eat :( The service was excellent and the cheesecake was tasty. I just wish for a $19 dollar entree the chicken was cooked better and tasted more fresh. We live close so want to try it again because overall it was a great dining experience! read more

UPDATE: 4/18/2021 - One of the partners called and texted me, not to explain what happened but to offer a meal to our group but suggested coming on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night to ensure a good meal and service. WOW! We have jobs, our free time and money is spent on the weekends, like many people. If you can't expect your staff and kitchen to deliver every night, especially on the nights the majority of people dine out, then you will not survive. Was really looking forward to trying this place after hearing great things, enough to book a reservation a month in advance. Apparently we came the night the wheels fell off. Our group was ready and ordered drinks and food at the same time to help the process move faster, it didn't help. Not only did we wait for over an hour and a half, when we were finally told our food was 3 minutes out, it never showed. Our entire seating area (a total of 3 tables and 12 people) waited over 90 minutes, only one of the tables actually got their food after two hours. The worst part, it was like our server was hiding somewhere, never really checked on us, no one explained what was happening. I had to go tell someone that we were leaving and to cancel our order. Really wanted to like this place, but so much was wrong that there won't be a second chance. read more

The food is a mix between Asain and Jamaican. The servers upstairs are also working downstairs and I'm just guessing that the bar downstairs serves upstairs. We started off with the sample player and we loved everything on it. For the main meal I had the rasta pasta, it has a little kick to it but not too bad for my weak taste buds. We had a good time. Like others on here, we had an eclectic experience. We started the night having a drink at Nucky's downstairs. Raves about there! Service was attentive, and the staff were all dressed in peiod garb to add to the experience. The drinks were great and less pricey than you would expect for a place like this. Club 300 was different however. We were seated quickly and asked for our drink order... But then things went a little off.. The hostess came back after 10 minutes and said our waiter was busy and she would take care of us. After taking our order she was gone again for a good while, and did check in on us maybe once more. Didn't put a stopwatch on our order but it was definitely a good 40-50 minutes before our dinner was ready-- even though only less than half the tables were full. Restaurant speed needs a little work. No complaints about our food however, I had the spicy Thai basil and the beef was tender and flavorful and portion size was good, and my wife also was pleased with her order. We've been to a number of the fancier restaurants in the Cities (Forpaughs, Ruth's Chris, Ocean aire, etc.) so we know what fine dining looks like-- and would have to say they don't match up to them and seem to have some things to learn in the little things (finer silverware, attention to detail by the waiter, etc.) but they seem to be trying and learning. So glad this restaurant is in Anoka and in a great spot with lots of character. The food is a 5! The service was a 3 for a fine dining restaurant, though I am nitpicking. The menu had a variety of unique offerings that were enticing. The coco bread starter was different and I thought might be a street food in jamaica. The red snapper was cooked perfectly -- moist, tender and flaky -- with curry sauce that was the perfect level of flavor and spice! The rasta pasta was a generous portion. We ended with beautifully plated mochi ice cream in 3 different refreshing flavors. But I had to practically jump out of my seat to stop the server to ask what the flavors were. When placed before us she should have stated what these flavors were. I expect that at nicer restaurants. The service was less attentive than I would have liked for a fine dining experience. My plate was removed while my dinner partner was only half finished. I was taking a portion home so I sat with my to go package on the table while he ate. I expect at a fine dining place that my plate would remain until all guests are finished. I wanted another glass of wine while he finished eating but the server didn't seem to have that on her radar and never asked and I wasn't quick enough to ask before she vanished. I did finally get the wine but had to interrupt her. I will have to be more proactive next time but that's not the experience I expect at fine dining; I want it to be completely relaxing and my needs anticipated. We were asked by the chef and others how we were enjoying the food and that was nice. All this being said, we enjoyed our meal very much will definitely return to try other menu items. read more

I knew this was going to be trouble when there was a table of ten people right out in the lobby, next to the front door and the bathroom. Then as we turned the corner, a waiter clearly saw two people trying to get out, and an employee and the two of us trying to get in, both through the wholly inadequate walkway, and decided to block all five of us in to talk to his table. I really should've just turned around. I sat down and waited fifteen minutes before our waitress asked about drinks. While our salads and bread were timely, the bread was old and stale and came without any butter. The mussels arrived at forty five minutes, and the drinks we ordered at minute fifteen arrived about a minute after the mussels. So that's thirty one minutes to pour a glass of wine. I ordered wine because the only beers on the menu were IPAs. The mussels arrived without a spoon or a bowl for the shells. We asked for a spoon and the waitress didn't understand why and gave us like an ordinary spoon, not one big enough for serving mussels. I was so hungry at this point that I actually did open a few by hand before the soup spoon arrived. Now our steaks were not bad. It's the only bright spot in an otherwise mediocre meal. They came with lumpy potatoes and burnt asparagus. This is the only restaurant where I ever didn't finish the asparagus. During the half hour wait for our drinks and starters, we took a close look at the menu and found at least four typos. Mainly these were the same couple of ingredients described in slightly different ways. Later we decided that "grilled crostini" on the description of the mussels was also an error because that bread was not crunchy at all and had probably not even been microwaved. We didn't order dessert because we thought they would take a half an hour and come with no spoon. read more

WOW this was the best place I tried in a long time. It's so beautifully decorated, clean and elegant. The service was wonderful. We were greeted as soon as we stepped in and shown to our table. The server came and took drink orders. The drinks too awhile to arrive but we're good. Very helpful with our picking food selections. Food was great. We were visited by both the manager and chief. We even shared a dessert that our server recommended. We went to the speakeasy downstairs for a delightful end to our evening. The jerk chicken is amazing. read more

We have been curious about this place so decided to check it out for dinner. Made reservations specifically for a private table (covid aware) but when we approached the hostess she appeared to be confused and without any acknowledgment or clarification they placed us at a table with high traffic. We did get an apology from the girl that sat us stating the table reserved for us was given to a large party already. (The hostesses never said anything to us... not good). The generous pours of wine were a nice touch. We ordered appetizers, sampler platter and tofu. Our party enjoyed the platter but when we finally got the tofu sticks we had no peanut sauce or any sauce, which is a necessity with tofu. The waitress did bring "a sauce" eventually but it was sweet and sour type sauce instead of peanut. The waitress never said anything to us, just slide it on the plate. When she returned we asked about the peanut sauce and she said it was "frozen". Not sure how sauce can be messed up, but seemed a little odd. I've made peanut sauce before...pretty easy to make a quick batch up. Husband has the Jamaican chicken (warning: large quantity ; expect leftovers) He enjoyed it! I had the red snapper in a yellow curry sauce w/veggies. Curry sauce was amazing, red snapper was over done..not the traditional flaky style I'm use too. Overall, the ambiance was nice (besides the reservation mishap), wait staff pleasant and food was ok. No dessert but found out they have a speak easy downstairs (little hidden secret shared by the waitress) so we tried that for a night cap. Fun atmosphere, yummy cocktails. The new menu offers finely prepared offerings that will please the palate. Personally I miss the uniqueness of the previous Jamaican-Oriental fusion menu but chef's skill at preparing the new items is very much evident in the quality of the cuisine. read more

Yes! A must go-to nice place! FINALLY the northern suburbs didn't produce another sports bar. An Asian and Jamaican diverse menu. We can't wait to go back and try more. Our group ordered potstickers and lettuce wraps, loved them both. The Red Curry was perfectly spiced for my Minnesotan palate. All the entres were wonderful and surprisingly affordable. I had a bad experience and reached out and told them. They were great and offered to recovered with 2 complimentary main courses. I've spoked to a Rowan Brown twice and I can't tell you how rude he's been and insulting that I was making it up. Facebook messenger has the history recorded and still such RUDENESS. Just ordered takeout with high hopes. No luck. Ordered five entrees and three appetizers. Only the coconut shrimp was worth purchasing again. Huge disappointment. I will not be ordering from here again. Sad. I was hoping for another option in Anoka. read more

Must go Resturant!! We loved the variety of food from appetizers, main meal and desserts. They are known for their Jerk Chicken. Others had red snapper, beef ribs, pepper steak and shrimp scampi. All delicious and cooked just right!!! Prices are very reasonable. Relax and enjoy yourself...we certainly did. read more

Absolutely worst meal we've had. We ordered an appetizer, the server commented on how we split the appetizer between the three of us, I'm not sure if this restaurant expects somebody to be able to eat both an appetizer and an entree but I guess with our entree experience that makes sense. Our entrees did not match the menu description, they were way too spicy based on the description and we were not offered a level of spice. Two of us ordered the Rasta pasta and it was basically them dumping a can of curry on pasta. I complained to the server about my meal but he assumed I was talking about one of the other people's meals and replaced that meal and immediately walked away. I then complained about my meal and he did absolutely nothing to fix the issue. We ended up pay $70 for a bad experience and disgusting food. The restaurant was very nice. The food and service not great. We started with coconut scrimp it was premade and kind of fishy. If you are going to serve Jamaican Jerk Chicken you have to compliment it with fried plantains. My chicken was dry and needed some extra jerk sauce. I heard the lady at the table next to me also order some extra sauce. It comes with a scoop of white rice also very dry. My husband ordered ribs, they were cold and very chewy and dry. No sauce on them either, so we ordered some on the side. We also order dessert which was not home made but very cute and delicious. The service needs a little help. Our plates were not removed as we finished, lots of waiting time for food. We saw the owner and he never came to our table to see how things were. We were not asked if we wanted more water or even coffee with our dessert. Pretty disappointed I was so excited when I saw we were finally getting a higher end restaurant downtown Anoka. I wish them luck and we will be back in a month to see if things have improved. Thanks read more
