This is a really good place for brunch. The burger was good, corned beef melt on rye was amazing, but the fries really stood out. Staff was nice and quick on a busy morning, very attentive. 10/10 My family and I ate here TWICE during our three day stay. This place has so much charm and the coffee is a must. It's a very nice and cozy atmosphere when you walk in. We went for the dinner service and were served very quickly. I ordered the elk tacos which were enormous and covered almost the entire plate. The elk was very good and lean and I definitely got full off of this plate. I also ordered the huckleberry sundae without the chocolate fudge. While visiting Whitefish during the UTBS music festival, my husband and I came to Buffalo Cafe for a bite to eat. We understood how absolutely slammed they were that weekend with so many visitors and people in town so we appreciated their hospitality and kindness. We ended up taking a seat at the counter and enjoyed our breakfast there. This good old-fashioned diner serves up some tasty and hearty breakfast meals. I decided to try what they called a "Buffalo pie" - the morning glory - which was a stack of breakfast goodness. It had hashbrowns piled high with gravy, cheese, onions, sausage, and eggs. My husband also ordered one of the Buffalo pies, but I don't recall which one. The service was fast and friendly, and they definitely kept our coffee topped off. Met an older gentleman who was interviewing me for a wife here at 7a on a Tuesday. The lady taking care of us was full of energy and joy, consistently making sure my cup of Joe was topped off. Portions are massive and packed with flavor, great American comfort dining to say the least. Place gets absolutely buzzing as it's clear it's a Whitefish classic, but we were never rushed or alienated as we enjoyed a 3 hour meal together. Dale our server was so fun and engaging it just started the entire experience off positive. Seeing all the food fly by made our decision easy - we ordered parm fry's and burgers. The meat in the burger was so tasty and different. It had to be the area because it was flavorful and cooked right. Dale explained different local beers and how they support local farms. We loved the entire meal and experience. When we saw the milkshakes being served with a pile of whip cream we were so tempted but full. I could see why this place is a local favorite. While vacationing with my daughter, we were recommended to go to this restaurant by two different people. The wait was about 25 minutes which I honestly didn't think was a big deal for a Sunday morning. The host was great, got our phone number and said they would text us when the table was ready. We walked around and looked at the local shops while we waited. Our waitress was lovely, gave us some recommendations. We both ended getting an omelette which was so good. Visiting town for a half marathon and worked up an appetite! We actually stopped by a different restaurant who was closing and suggested Buffalo Cafe. There was a short wait, about 5 min for a two top. They had a large variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items- breakfast served until 2. We both ordered breakfast, it was quick, fresh & tasty! We ordered two versions of the "Buffalo pie" (a hash brown specialty) which came with your choice of toast, a side of biscuits w/gravy and a side of french toast. I personally would have liked the hash browns more well done, but I also didn't ask for them that way. Service was excellent, we had a couple people check on us and offer coffee/tea refills which we really appreciated. Great experience! read more

This is a cute lunch spot in downtown Whitefish! We stopped here for a quick bite after a trip to the bookstore, next door. We shared a juicy jalapeño burger, the light, fluffy bun is made in house ; loved the diced charred jalapeños on top the charred, juicy burger. The strawberry banana shake was delicious, it was a pleasant surprise to taste the fresh fruit with the creamy ice cream , compared to the fake syrups you typically see. Just spending one night here in Whitefish on our way to Glacier National Park to hopefully see the Northern Lights we saw this restaurant in Google and it had 4.7 stars, so we stopped in for dinner. Quite busy but we were seated immediately in a comfortable booth. Ice water was served within one minute without having to ask for it. The menu has a respectable sized drink menu, but we didn't see any sweet wine such as moscato so I ordered the hot chocolate and a Lil Honey beer. The hot chocolate was the best I've ever had and I'm 60 years old and grew up in the Midwest where it gets cold in the winter. My wife really liked it as well but claims to have had better. The beer was good as well. We got an order of onion rings to share and the two of us couldn't eat half of them but they were absolutely delicious and came with ranch and chipotle ranch sauces on the side and both were great. They also gave us a bottle of ketchup but we didn't use it. I ordered the bison meatloaf which was different (because it is different, it's bison) but absolutely delicious. My wife wasn't thrilled with it. The mashed potatoes and carrots were also delicious. My wife got a sourdough patty melt (she's a patty melt connoisseur) and she really liked it. It came with fries, onion rings or mashed potatoes, she got the fries and they were really delicious. They were rectangular, flat, wide, and curved, cooked and seasoned to perfection, slightly crunchy on the outside and soft center. Just so good. Our water was refilled without us having to ask and before they were completely empty. We ended the meal by sharing a Sweet Peaks wild salted caramel milkshake (to go) which was also delicious. We took home our leftovers to enjoy it again tomorrow. We met the owner as he was very actively engaged throughout the restaurant, bringing food and drinks to various tables. Bottom line: if we're ever in the area again, we will certainly return to this restaurant. TLDR: Superb, highly recommended. read more

We came back for the second day in a row for breakfast. My companion went with the veggie scramble with extra crispy bacon and I chose Leslie's Buffalo Pie, which is a mountain of fluffy hash browns with sautéed veggies and cheese with poached eggs on top. It was a hearty delicious generous breakfast. Though to be honest, I'm still thinking about the Higgins Scramble from the other day. Friendly, neighborhood feel with nice people and great food. We had to wait for an unusually long time to even get acknowledged and a table before we came in. The hollandaise sauce was horrible so happy I asked for a taste of it before I ordered it. I went alone for a quick dinner and was met with friendly staff who took great care of me, got in my special requests and made me the best damn patty melt I've ever had. I think the most notable thing about this place is the fact that they bring in high quality ingredients from local shops (local bread, local meat) and they don't skimp on what the offer. My melt came piled on top of a the biggest heaping portion of fries I've ever been served as a side order in my life. The Parmesan fries were amazing and were worth the up-charge. A very good meal at Buffalo cafe. Went in for brunch on a weekday and man they're busy. A 35 minute wait at around 1 PM and they close at 2. We eventually sat at the bar because we didn't want to wait any longer for a table but we didn't mind the bar.
