We tried a couple of different coffeeshops around Santa Fe, and this one was our favorite by far. I got the Murmuration of Starlings and it tasted just like the name! It was sweet without being too sweet and the rosemary, thyme and cardamom gave it a unique twist. This place is on the smaller side and there's not a whole lot of seating, although they do have a few outdoor spots. Our coffee orders also took a little bit to get, but we enjoyed that time reading their newspaper and coloring in their coloring book! Would definitely return here if I am in the area. read more

The coffee here is stellar! The service, not so much. We were in Santa Fe for a week and this is one of the spots I bookmarked in advance, since quality coffee is important to us. I also care about the vibe of a place, so the breakdown is 5-star coffee drinks, but ho-hum 3-star service, hence the 4-star review instead of the 5 I would've loved to have reported here. The place is a few blocks from where we stayed and was easy to walk to and find, knowing I'd be looking for a sign with a few animals on it and it may not be obvious to some that this business is a coffee shop. I ordered the Crash of Rhinos, which fits their clever theme. The drink was just sweet enough and unique and flavorful. However, when we walked in, there was no barista or anyone at the front to greet us; we didn't mind waiting a minute or two for someone to show up since it was clearly open and there were a couple customers inside (and duh, we were on vacation and not in a hurry). When the nose-ringed hipster-looking girl came around the corner I was disappointed that we were not greeted with a smile or a good morning, or "sorry to keep you waiting" kind of phrase. She took our order, made our drinks, and did not say thank you (I did, and tipped her $2. Why, I'm not sure). That was that. Hubs ordered the spicy mocha drink and it was a bit much; he decided it would be better iced or he'd try a different selection next time. Yes, there was a next time. Different barista, same kind of treatment. Still tipped just because I was a barista for many years and know this really helps supplement a worker's salary and encourage good communication with customers. This time I ordered the Murmuration of Starlings latte, which has rosemary, thyme, and cardamom notes. It was delicious but similar to the Crash of Rhinos drink. The third time we visited we entered through the Chocolate and Cashmere shop next door. I found it funny that the nose ring barista girl happened to be in that shop talking to the girl who worked there, but when we walked in, she quickly exited back to the coffee shop to sit with the other barista at a table in the coffee shop. The chocolate shop girl was so sweet and we even visited their location in the Plaza a day later and she was just as nice, even though that day we did not make a purchase. Overall I do recommend Crash Murder Business for their coffee drinks, but don't expect friendly service. (If you're looking for that, go to Iconik up the street!) Just because you work at a coffee shop and you have a cool haircut does not make you above others. Especially when small businesses work to please their customers and should encourage their return. Kind of a shame...but I would still go back for the coffee if I were ever in town again. read more

This was a happy accident. I was walking to the train station to leave Santa Fe and this quirky little coffee shop was grabbing my attention. The logo drew me in, and I thought "screw it. I'll taste their drip coffee and if it isn't any good, I'll keep going to the one I had planned." Listen, it's becoming more difficult to come by a good pour over, but good drip is like finding a unicorn. Not at Crash + Murder. I ordered the iced unicorn. It was supposed to have whipped cream and sparkling glitter on top. When I got my drink it was more like a donkey. No horn, no sparkles, just a plain ol average latte with nothing special about it. If they couldn't make it the way it's meant to be made the cashier should jet you know up front and give you the opportunity to order something else special and magical.They have to know you're coming in for the aesthetics. A few weeks ago, my wife and I went with our son from Rio Rancho to Santa Fe on the train. He goes every Saturday to Santa Fe for the day. His first stop is here where he took us, Crash Murder Business, coffee house. He orders a specialty drink and works on his laptop for a while. The coffee house specialty drink menu is incredible, lots of creativity in their selection. My wife had the Streak of Tigers: espresso, milk, curry, black pepper, cacao and maple syrup, served hot. I had their Crash of Rhinos: espresso, maple syrup, grass fed butter, milk and cardamom, served hot. Our son had Skulk of Foxes: turmeric, chai and ginger. Now we know why our son goes there every weekend. The drinks are spectacular, cozy small funky place with great service, displaying beautiful art. read more

This coffee shop sets the bar really high! Every detail is well thought out. This includes everything from the name of the business, decor, and flavor combinations inside of their beverages. Several of the coffee drinks caught my eye and I think I would have been happy with almost any of the ones they had on the menu. I ultimately ordered an iced version of the Streak of Tigers (Espresso, milk, curry, black pepper, cacao, maple syrup). If you enjoy flavors that are more on the spicy side and bolder, this drink would be a wonderful option for you. I took my drink to go, but the atmosphere inside the coffee shop was very calming. On a recent trip to Santa Fe while we were waiting for our chosen brunch spot to open right now the street, decided to stop in Crash Murder Business to kill some time and start the morning off with a good cup of coffee to combat the chill from the snow outside. We are going to this great little cafe at least three times while we're in Santa Fe. The coffee is great and they know what they're doing. You'll need to go into the cafe to fully understand the menu; we enjoyed a Rafter of Turkeys (a seasonal pumpkin spice latte), a Murmuration of Starlings (rosemary and thyme latte), and a Streak of Tigers (curry latte). All were amazing, with subtle flavors and nothing too strong or sickly. They don't use syrups here - everything is house-made. It's a small cafe with interesting seating. This place perfectly encompasses what Sante Fe is all about. A small very quaint coffee shop with a variety of seating areas. The specialty coffees are obviously what I came for and they delivered! The baristas were very kind and offered help when needed. The tiger was the most unusual coffee I've ever had, had a curry flavor, it was lovely if you like curry. The rhino would be the one I'd offer for those who want something unique but not too unusual. If a place ever has a cardamon latte, get it! I love the ridiculousness of the business name and menu. Santa Fe has a great sense of humor and this fits in perfectly. It took me a while to get from my first impression of the name, "How funny, an anti business business" - very Santa Fe - to the animal flock theme behind it, with the various coffee and tea flavoring combos being named the well known - Murder of Crows, Crash of Rhinos - to the entertaining, like the Maelstrom of Axlotls, Glory of Unicorns, and Skulk of Foxes. They were perfectly fine with me working on my laptop in there, with good wifi and a quiet environment, occasionally punctuated by, "Hannah, Parliament of Owls?" It's just the right amount of entertainment when you're busy working. The coffee was good and as you expect in New Mexico the spice in coffees that add it, is real. read more

Unlike the other happy reviews, our experience was mostly frustrating. We had driven to the location, and once we reached the address, we saw nothing resembling a coffee shop or any signage to that effect. We saw a sign for an artists gallery and a sign for chocolate and Kashmir, but we saw nothing having anything to do with coffee. And the name was just so bizarre that we were pretty sure Google Maps had led us astray, and that this was in fact, not a coffee shop. Ultimately, we got out of our car and started walking and came upon the sign near the door, which is not visible from across the street when Parking one's car. And the signsign that hangs over the sidewalk simply has the company logo on it which just looks like a rhinoceros with a raven and whatever the other animal is. It meant absolutely nothing to us. It has zero lettering on it. Not the name of the company not the word Coffee. It like a cruel inside joke. Why make your place a business so hard to find!? And once we got in to the establishment, there was no one at the register and then when she finally showed up, she said "I recommend the number 4", but there were no numbers on the menu. And there was next to nothing to eat to go with our drinks. The drinks were yummy, but there was not much room in the establishment, and our table was dirty. All in all, I probably will not go back. The obtuse name and the utter lack of signage for newcomers, turned me off. It felt like a place that was for intended only for locals. read more

My husband had a regular Mocha which was made with Ghirardelli's sauce. I was a little disappointed in the limited pastry/breakfast options, so we ended up just grabbing our coffee and going to another shop for food. I really liked this place. Unique little coffee shop with a poetic feel. They offer very unique, earthy flavors that immediately captured my attention. We went with a latte - Murmuration Starling - iced and hot, both delicious. Flavors were subtlety sweet and did not mask the delicious coffee flavor. On this day service was sweet but slow. Only one person taking orders and make the drinks. With several customers in line and limited seating the place was quickly crowded. From what I could tell, limited parking as well. Visited crash murder business when I was in New Mexico in November and have thought about their coffee everyday since (it's currently February). Ordered their Streak of Tigers and it was uniquely decadent and delicious. The coffee shop vibe was cozy and whimsical, a spot where you could definitely sit for a while with a book or catching up with a friend.
