We are visiting family from out of town and any time I travel, I make it my mission to find local coffee shops to visit and try (rather than hitting up a chain). We stopped here and waited in the drive thru, placed our order, paid for one drink, and then proceeded to wait for said drink. By luck, I have the credit card we use linked to my email through Square, so I received the receipt via email, even though we weren't asked if we wanted one/nor did we have any reason to think we would need it. Lo and behold, there has been a tip added to our order, which at no point we were asked about or requested it be added to the order. (I asked if they had any specials, and was told no. Nothing offered or recommended, which is not necessary, but would have made the tip okay/earned.) We asked why the tip was added, and were given a disingenuous answer that the $1 option and the cancel option were right next to each other. I ALWAYS tip, when asked/prompted, but not when it's added in a deceitful way. In her defense, the girl at the drive thru asked if she wanted us to remove the tip, and at the time I said no. But as we drove away, it left a really bad taste in my mouth, so we drove back and I went inside. The person at the register inside seemed a bit concerned (and a little confused) with what I told them, but no apology was offered. They did refund the $1 tip, but at that point, it probably would have done better by the customer (us) to just refund the entire order. Needless to say, I have never had this happen, and don't know what to think. An apology would have gone a long way to save face. The coffee is fine, but not worth the time spent in the drive thru, or the bad experience that came with it. This just drives home the point to always ask for a receipt! read more

Change is good! Had to get away for the weekend, so Santa Fe is the hotspot of choice. We came for the vegan burrito on a Yelp review, and they have no vegan options. They had a good vegetarian breakfast burrito, with eggs and cheese, but no salsa or hot sauce. This is a place that celebrates diversity and inclusion and is groovy. Not your mega superstore coffee place, so always #ShopLocal and support your community. We really enjoyed the green chili croissant. 4 stars read more

The girl helping me there was super sweet and kind, and literally turned my last few uneasy days into a positive direction just by being thoughtful and kind. I've been traveling for days on the road and everyone knows how that can go. Acts of kindness never goes unnoticed and much appreciated. I wish I knew her name. Quick stop at Java Joe's before heading out of Santa Fe. Ordered a drip coffee + 1 espresso shot, and a latte. Also ordered an everything bagel & cream cheese & a green chile savory croissant. Drinks are piping hot (excellent!), the bagel was toasted and cheesed. The croissant was delicious though I wished I would have asked for it to be warmed but that's on me. I've been coming to this coffee shop since college. The espresso is robust and smooth, not as acidic as other coffee beans. My go-to is an americano, these are my favorite americanos in Santa Fe. This coffee shop offers legit breakfast burritos, pastries and bagels. Come here to study or just hang out. Prices that would make Starbucks blush! Charged an extra $.50 for ice in my drink! No sign or notification of any kind, just an additional $.50 on an already overpriced drink. On top of it, it tasted like coffee, not sure why, perhaps they did not clean whatever utensils they use to make my chai. Fantastic! Visiting from out of town and needed a quick bite before heading to Meow Woof. Got their cold brew and a Blueberry muffin. It was all Fantastic and a great price. My fiance' got the chilli crescent and later a regular one. I tried the regular one and it was delightful! We are planning on going there again tomorrow. The atmosphere is nice and open. Lots of natural light. Different seating options for so single person, small or large group. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Used the restroom and it was nice. I have heard good things about Java Joes coffee so thought I'd give it a try today. Drive thru is only option for ordering - no biggie. Young lady came out to take my order she of course had her mask on and her clipboard and stayed well more than 6 feet away from a vehicle. I did not have a mascon because I was in my car she asked if I had a mask and I was a little confused but said yes while I was reaching for my mask she said she was going to go take another person's order and when she came back I told her that it was rude that she didn't even give me a chance to put my mask on. She then became argumentative and told me she wasn't going to argue with me and that I had to have a mask for service if I wanted to go to the window, as I was putting on my mask she said whatever and walked away so I drove off and I will never support Java Joe's again because of the customer service read more

I stopped by this drive-through last winter on a road trip and was instantly smitten by their divine Mexican (iced) mocha and the jalapeño-cheese croissant. I finally had a chance to drop by just after noon on a Saturday on another road trip, but they had just closed up (staff shortage). Nooooo! I told the proprietor how I'd been looking forward to this stop for hundreds of miles--and lo and behold, he went the extra mile and got me a drink and croissant, even though I knew he and his colleagues were ready to close up. Yesssss! Both were just as delicious as I'd remembered, and the kindness made the stop even nicer. This place is a Santa Fe mainstay for good reason. Check it out! read more

When possible I prefer to seek out non-commercial coffee businesses. This is a sweet place now serving drive through only due to Covid restrictions. I predetermined an Americano. This coffee tends to be all over the map in terms of flavor. This one was rich, flavorful and served nice and hot. One of the best I e had in awhile. Much better than Starbucks. Incredibly tasty coffee and pastries, I am a daily customer and somewhat of a coffee connoisseur. After trying multiple spots in Santa Fe, this is by far the best place to get coffee. Locally owned, tasty drinks. The only issue is that a few of the workers are very snarky, and made snarky remarks about not being able to leave a tip on an already overpriced drink. Management needs to deal with some of the workers attitudes towards the customers, because it really drives loyal people away. read more

My co workers and I recently resigned, four of us, from a local, well-established coffee shop here in Santa Fe, NM due to unfair management/owner practices. For the past week, I'd been in search of a coffee shop that could pull excellent espresso shots and make a true Cortado. I had visited another well-established, local coffee shop, a couple of days ago, and was disappointed with the weak, verging on sour, espresso shots. My former Staff Manager suggested Java Joe's so I ventured over to the Rodeo Road location this afternoon. What a delight! The vibe is welcoming, inclusive and relaxed. The baristas were very kind, as was the young man who ground a bag of East Timor for me, and the Cortado was excellent. Now, I know where to get my coffee and my Cortado and both so much more reasonably priced than the other two places. What a gem of a find! read more
