We are visiting family from out of town and any time I travel, I make it my mission to find local coffee shops to visit and try (rather than hitting up a chain). We stopped here and waited in the drive thru, placed our order, paid for one drink, and then proceeded to wait for said drink. By luck, I have the credit card we use linked to my email through Square, so I received the receipt via email, even though we weren't asked if we wanted one/nor did we have any reason to think we would need it. Lo and behold, there has been a tip added to our order, which at no point we were asked about or requested it be added to the order. (I asked if they had any specials, and was told no. Nothing offered or recommended, which is not necessary, but would have made the tip okay/earned.) We asked why the tip was added, and were given a disingenuous answer that the $1 option and the cancel option were right next to each other. I ALWAYS tip, when asked/prompted, but not when it's added in a deceitful way. In her defense, the girl at the drive thru asked if she wanted us to remove the tip, and at the time I said no. But as we drove away, it left a really bad taste in my mouth, so we drove back and I went inside. The person at the register inside seemed a bit concerned (and a little confused) with what I told them, but no apology was offered. They did refund the $1 tip, but at that point, it probably would have done better by the customer (us) to just refund the entire order. Needless to say, I have never had this happen, and don't know what to think. An apology would have gone a long way to save face. The coffee is fine, but not worth the time spent in the drive thru, or the bad experience that came with it. This just drives home the point to always ask for a receipt! read more

Change is good! Had to get away for the weekend, so Santa Fe is the hotspot of choice. We came for the vegan burrito on a Yelp review, and they have no vegan options. They had a good vegetarian breakfast burrito, with eggs and cheese, but no salsa or hot sauce. This is a place that celebrates diversity and inclusion and is groovy. Not your mega superstore coffee place, so always #ShopLocal and support your community. We really enjoyed the green chili croissant. 4 stars read more

Quick stop at Java Joe's before heading out of Santa Fe. Ordered a drip coffee + 1 espresso shot, and a latte. Also ordered an everything bagel & cream cheese & a green chile savory croissant. Drinks are piping hot (excellent!), the bagel was toasted and cheesed. The croissant was delicious though I wished I would have asked for it to be warmed but that's on me. The girl helping me there was super sweet and kind, and literally turned my last few uneasy days into a positive direction just by being thoughtful and kind. I've been traveling for days on the road and everyone knows how that can go. Acts of kindness never goes unnoticed and much appreciated. I wish I knew her name. Was September 8 I believe, right before closing. And whenever I'm in town again visiting, I'm definitely returning the act of kindness. I've been coming to this coffee shop since college. The espresso is robust and smooth, not as acidic as other coffee beans. My go-to is an americano, these are my favorite americanos in Santa Fe. This coffee shop offers legit breakfast burritos, pastries and bagels. Come here to study or just hang out. The ambiance is mellow relaxed environment, huge windows in the front provide an excellent natural lighting from those beautiful, blue Santa Fe skies. read more

Java joes is always busy with a line filling the parking lot. It's very convenient that they have a worker running to cars to take the order so it could be ready by the time we get to the window. Prices that would make Starbucks blush! Charged an extra $.50 for ice in my drink! No sign or notification of any kind, just an additional $.50 on an already overpriced drink. On top of it, it tasted like coffee, not sure why, perhaps they did not clean whatever utensils they use to make my chai. So I paid $6.21 for a try that I didn't even like, plus of course a tip is expected. read more

Fantastic! Visiting from out of town and needed a quick bite before heading to Meow Woof. Got their cold brew and a Blueberry muffin. It was all Fantastic and a great price. My fiance' got the chilli crescent and later a regular one. I tried the regular one and it was delightful! We are planning on going there again tomorrow. The atmosphere is nice and open. Lots of natural light. Different seating options for so single person, small or large group. Staff were all super friendly and helpful. Used the restroom and it was nice. Nothing super fancy but it was clean. Really a great place for coffee and a small bite! Check it out! read more

I have heard good things about Java Joes coffee so thought I'd give it a try today. Drive thru is only option for ordering - no biggie. Young lady came out to take my order she of course had her mask on and her clipboard and stayed well more than 6 feet away from a vehicle. I did not have a mascon because I was in my car she asked if I had a mask and I was a little confused but said yes while I was reaching for my mask she said she was going to go take another person's order and when she came back I told her that it was rude that she didn't even give me a chance to put my mask on. She then became argumentative and told me she wasn't going to argue with me and that I had to have a mask for service if I wanted to go to the window, as I was putting on my mask she said whatever and walked away so I drove off and I will never support Java Joe's again because of the customer service read more

Best in town, always has been. Unpretentious shop, friendly staff and no nonsense baristas. (The only downside are all the people who camp out with their laptops sucking up free internet.) I'm not sure where the chocolate chip cookies come from, but they are delicious. read more

I stopped by this drive-through last winter on a road trip and was instantly smitten by their divine Mexican (iced) mocha and the jalapeño-cheese croissant. I finally had a chance to drop by just after noon on a Saturday on another road trip, but they had just closed up (staff shortage). Nooooo! I told the proprietor how I'd been looking forward to this stop for hundreds of miles--and lo and behold, he went the extra mile and got me a drink and croissant, even though I knew he and his colleagues were ready to close up. Yesssss! Both were just as delicious as I'd remembered, and the kindness made the stop even nicer. This place is a Santa Fe mainstay for good reason. Check it out! read more

When possible I prefer to seek out non-commercial coffee businesses. This is a sweet place now serving drive through only due to Covid restrictions. I predetermined an Americano. This coffee tends to be all over the map in terms of flavor. This one was rich, flavorful and served nice and hot. One of the best I e had in awhile. Much better than Starbucks. They are nw making a limited number of baked items (onsite). Cinnamon bun was fabulous! read more

Incredibly tasty coffee and pastries, I am a daily customer and somewhat of a coffee connoisseur. After trying multiple spots in Santa Fe, this is by far the best place to get coffee. Locally owned, tasty drinks. The only issue is that a few of the workers are very snarky, and made snarky remarks about not being able to leave a tip on an already overpriced drink. Management needs to deal with some of the workers attitudes towards the customers, because it really drives loyal people away. read more

Wow, I had almost forgotten what good coffee tasted like after getting it from all these large chain, mass produced coffee outlets... these guys seem to know their coffee. great friendly service, really fresh great tasting coffee ( locally roasted the day before i was told ) this is the perfect spot if you like your coffee fresh and tasty. I ordered a breakfast burrito warmed up, 2 coffee drinks, muffins and tipped them $5. they had me pull around the side because the burrito was taking a little while. I sat there for 20 minutes before I called them to remind them I was still waiting for my burrito. I ended up being late to my engagement. My co workers and I recently resigned, four of us, from a local, well-established coffee shop here in Santa Fe, NM due to unfair management/owner practices. For the past week, I'd been in search of a coffee shop that could pull excellent espresso shots and make a true Cortado. I had visited another well-established, local coffee shop, a couple of days ago, and was disappointed with the weak, verging on sour, espresso shots. My former Staff Manager suggested Java Joe's so I ventured over to the Rodeo Road location this afternoon. What a delight! The vibe is welcoming, inclusive and relaxed. The baristas were very kind, as was the young man who ground a bag of East Timor for me, and the Cortado was excellent. Now, I know where to get my coffee and my Cortado and both so much more reasonably priced than the other two places. What a gem of a find! read more

I think Java Joe's had the best coffee of all the coffee houses we visited on our yearly trip to Santa Fe last week. They had plenty of seating and plugs for the computers, which I also appreciated. The wifi seemed to work ok, though not amazing. The room was a little bit darker than I like ambience wise, but not to cave troll levels. I'd definitely come back. read more

I ended up getting a breakfast bar that contained egg and green chile and a personal-sized cherry chocolate bread pudding. There weren't prices posted which I hate. Please put prices on the case. Those two items together were $14.58!!! Unfortunately I wasn't offered a receipt so I'm not exactly sure the breakdown of the price of each item. Seating was only available outside of the bakery as it is a very small operation, which is fine. As someone from out of town, I didn't have a kitchen or anything, plus I wanted to eat the breakfast bar immediately. I wasn't asked if I wanted the food warmed up and just assumed they would be room temperature, which is fine. Unfortunately the breakfast bar was ice cold. I definitely didn't enjoy eating ice cold hard boiled egg in the breakfast bar. It was so disappointing that at this price point, there just wasn't care from the staff to even warn me that the breakfast bar needed to basically thaw before being eaten. Prices need to be displayed and receipts offered by staff automatically, prices are one-off treat level, not affordable enough to be a weekly option for a celiac and lastly, food should be offered to be warmed up if they're going into the case frozen or refrigerated. It's always build a bowl from La Finca. They have local, organic, farm to table ingredients. The staff is incredible, helpful, and always so welcoming. They make great suggestions and offer advice on what's been popular or is new on the line. They have a rotating selection of seasonal vegetables and local meats. It is a very small space, but they have great outdoor seating and they really make it work with what they have. They temporarily closed a few years ago and I was sincerely devastated. They have since come back better and stronger, with a cheese shop just down the street. I'm so excited about their success and look forward to eating there every chance I get. Only the top of the plate had sauce and cheese. I asked for some extra sauce and they came out with a little one ounce serving cup. When I asked for another small cup, they said they would need to charge me two dollars for more. The pasta under my chicken was so dry I decided to take the rest home and add my own sauce. This was a huge disappointment for me and I didn't want to offend them by saying the pasta had no sauce underneath and was very dry. I guess we won't be coming back and will try other places in town that are more affordable and nickel and dime people for bread and sauce.

The Spicy Chai was very authentically spicy. It didn't taste like a premade mix. I haven't tried their coffee, and there were no vegan pastries so I didn't try those either. Great locally owned coffee joint. Both locations have a great staff and great coffee. I wish the downtown store had a drive through. If you are downtown and going to Starbucks, drive to the other side of DeVargas Mall and check this place out. read more
