Purchased a set of 8 Sonata "Leather" Dining Room Chairs. They are not leather! After about 5 years, the vinyl started cracking and peeling off the foam backing on all 8 chairs. The brown vinyl has peeled off on all chairs but wood frame still looks ok. Beware - these chairs look nice but the vinyl will only last a few years at most. Spoke with Manhasset customer service rep who informed me that these chairs are not meant to last beyond 5 years. They are made of a very poor quality leather composite, not real leather and it will crack and peel with normal use. read more

My friend and I only needed to pick up an item and we waited 20-30 min to be serviced. First, went to one associate and she asked us if there was anyone at the front and we told her we didn't see anyone. So then, she told us we need to wait because she's w a customer, fine. It took some time so we ended up looking for another associate available. We saw someone at the desk in the front and we told her we were there for a pick up. She sent us upstairs. Then, we asked an associate (Joan) 2 times to get someone to help us w our pick up and an associate came (Judy), but helped the wrong customer. She didn't even ask her colleague which customer was calling for assistance. She went straight to a white woman. Her colleague didn't seem to care either and did that point her to our direction. This is absolutely ridiculous. I didn't want to make a scene so whatever. I'm waiting...yet AGAIN. So now we're waiting even LONGER to get our items to pick up. With the amount of customers that we have here, there should honestly be more employees. I just also wanted to add that I'm a patient and understanding type of person. I work for retail too so I know what it's like. At my store, we have to make sure that every customer is okay. Even if we're w a customer, we still need to at least ask if they need help. That didn't happen at all in this store. Everywhere I looked, it seemed like no one even cared that I was clearly looking for someone to help me. I don't usually get this upset, but when I feel like I'm not being taken cared of like how I take care of my customers, I get really annoyed because the service that I provide is the kind of service I expect back when I am a customer. On a side note, the woman who helped me and my friend was very kind. I'm sad that I forgot her name. I was too upset by the other people so I won't be able to get a chance to mention her here. I had such a bad experience with crate & barrel in the Manhasset store with the customer service department. This high end store is nothing like it used to be. They treat the customers with a rude attitude and do not give five star service. I purchased an outdoor table which did not stand up to its quality. I didn't want to return the table, I wanted an exchange only. I am still waiting for any straight answer from the companies corporate office and this has been going on for more than a year. I must say, my experience with Crate and Barrel always seems to be the same. Great product, terrible customer service! So, they have no record of me buying a couch from them... even though I absolutely did (I bought two). No matter though... I called because their 800 number customer service line told me I had to visit a store to order new slipcovers for my sofa. I thought I would call first just to be sure they could help. I am glad I did- as I don't live close to the store at all! So, I get on the phone with someone and I start getting lectured about what "petite" means- because I said that I had am 83" inch couch but it wasn't the petite because that refers to the depth of the couch. Honestly, I couldn't care less, but don't ever be condescending to a customer like that. Then I was told that she needs to check if I can even order the slipcovers, as they may not make them anymore, and she would need to call me right back. Guess what? No phone call. read more

On 12/10/2019 I called the Manhasset Store to verify product availability before submitting an order online. I was told by Rachel that there are 2 items on hand, and we agree i submit the order online right away in which i did and the order will be fulfilled. The next day my order was not fulfilled and I have been given the run around to then just learn those items "actually sold out". NOT COOL. I was assured the item is ON HAND and the order will be fulfilled. I have not been to this store since June 11, 2016 but after reading some of the other reviews I feel inclined to comment on my experience. I came in with my husband because we specifically wanted the Crate and Barrel version of the Enclume standing pot rack to hold our many Le Creuset pieces in our new home. The store had one available in the box and employees were helpful in directing my husband to the elevator so we could more easily bring the unwieldy piece to our car. For the record, we do happen to LOVE this piece. We get tons of compliments and it is the perfect addition to our kitchen. However, our issue took place at the register, when the cashier was ringing up our purchase. She said: "You know this is $300.00, right? Is that OK?" with a tone of voice like there was no way that we could afford the piece. My husband and I are educated professionals - an attorney and an engineer - and we both felt insulted by this totally inappropriate questioning and the way this cashier seemed to be looking down on us. We came to get one specific item and we knew before coming in how much it cost - of course it was "OK" for us to pay that much. It seems like we are not alone in this type of experience (although we are not minorities, as some other reviewers have reported that they are). I think your staff needs a little lesson in treating customers with civility and respect. This is far and away the closest Crate and Barrel to our home, and while I love your products, I do not know how soon we will be returning. read more

I bought this product on Nov 14. I noticed that it was sent to the wrong address on my mobile device. It was sent to my mothers address in Hawaii. I tried to stop the order but customer service could not get Fed Ex on the phone so the y said they had to ship it to Hawaii but not to worry. I could send it back for free and get my money back. My mother tried to send one box and it was over $80. I called customer service and got Janet E at 3:40pm on Dec 14. She said that Crate and Barrel would do me a favor and refund one box but not the other. I told her the other box was heavier and I if I shipped it it would be more than my products. Janet said that this was my fault and they would not help me with the 2nd box. I am looking for a total refund on my order. Order # 138237911. I called back and the customer rep said she would help me but then she saw Janet's name and said Janet was above her. Her supervisor also agreed with Janet. This service is ridiculous. How can I ever shop from this store again if they hold me responsible for a shopping cart error which I immediately tried to correct. What a holiday nightmare. read more

This should have an option to put 0 stars. I placed an online order to pick up at the store. Arrived at 6:20pm, left the store after 8 pm. I've completely lost my interest to shop at this branch because there seems to be a serious management issues at this store as many of my friends have complained about this particular branch. I would never forget my experience today at Crate and Barrel: the way the workers raised their voice at me, talked to me in a demeaning manner, shaking their heads, talking to each other in front of me as if they're complaining about me, making me feel ashamed for trying to have them answer my simple questions, etc. I've never felt so frustrated and mortified while shopping in public. Went to Manhasset Crate and Barrel to purchase a sleep couch/ chaise, an ottoman, a desk and lamp. We chose items with Custom fabrics for couch and ottoman. Purchases made based on room size which salesperson had. We were told it would be approximately 6 months for delivery due to pandemic. I called 3x during those 6mo to get updates and not once a phone call back, left message after message for salesperson and store manager, got O response. Finally got email to schedule delivery ( yea!!!). The sleep couch/ chaise is perfection, beautiful work and fit perfectly . The ottoman on the other hand did not fit in the room, what I came to see was that it was " ottoman and a half" but was supposed to be an ottoman based on room size. I repeatedly Called Manhasset store with no callback. The worst store customer service I've ever experienced . Create & Barrel has beautiful items and this particular store has been very helpful. However the positive feedback stops there. The company is having difficulty with the warehouse and is unable to fill the orders in a timely matter resulting in a LONGGGGG wait for merchandise that has been purchased. I called today AGAIN to check on the status of my order. The only information create and barrel could provide me with was that the next two delivery trucks for today and monday have been CANCELLED. This was not the first time I was told the trucks were cancelled. The store could could not provide me with a date my merchandise will be available. If you go on twitter and look up create and barrel tweets you can view countless dissatisfied customers who are waiting for merchandise with no promised date of delivery. After 5 mos furniture finally arrived. Do not waste your time discussing issues with store either management or staff of the regular customer service line. They are both completely useless. Nothing was done until I contacted the customer service dept of the office of the CEO. Once I dealt with them the furniture miraculously arrived and they have given me gift cards totaling about 15% of the purchase price. Would never make a large purchas from crate and barrel again. Went here on a rainy Saturday to stroll around and possibly register for my upcoming wedding/new house. I love Crate and Barrel products and this visit did not disappoint. My fiance and went around and looked at furniture on the first level, which was nicely laid out and updated. We were asked by multiple store employees if we needed any help and if we did, that they would be available to answer any questions. Noone was pushy, which we love! We then ventured upstairs because I wanted to check out the registry options. We were greeted warmly by Beth, who sat down with us and explained all of the perks of registering with C&B. She told us about the credit card & the financing available. She also explained the app, which is how you scan products in store to add to your registry. How cool! We received a cute set of wine glasses for registering and we enjoyed some complimentary nespresso thanks to a demo that was done earlier in the day. Overall, it was such a great experience and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. We love Crate & Barrel and can't wait to come back again! Why I had to wait so long in line for an order I had placed and paid for online is completely beyond me. The fact that there were available associates who could've pulled my order from their storage room real annoyed me. The whole point of ordering online was to save time. I might as well have just planned to shop adding to my day's schedule. Instead we had to wait almost 20 minutes in line for a cashier to then call for someone to bring the order which took another 10 minutes. Bottom line: ordering online really isn't a convenience bit probably a tactic to get you in the store to potentially purchase more C&B stuff. My all time favorite place to shop for home goods from tableware to bathroom hooks. A little bit pricey but worth it. We also bought lots of glassware here for our restaurant. Went in to browse for some Christmas gifts and found the store to be surprisingly empty, which was not ordinary for this time of year. The store was clean and had exactly what I was looking for (scotch glasses and accessories). The sales associates were all welcoming and friendly. Special shout out to Bonnie who was super nice, helpful and wrapped up my gifts with care. I bought my parents some furniture there in which they hadn't had in 20 years. After 4 months, one built in cushion sags in the middle and wrinkles. I call them, they tell me they will call back and doesn't ...twice. Call corporate office, they do nothing. Their customer service could really use some help. Their products recently has also been on the decline. They look great, but quality suffers, unlike before. Maybe they are buying from China too! Nice store, knowledgable, personable & helpful sales people. I've been a loyal C&B customer for years, buying the items you can purchase and walk out of the store with. In March I purchased a custom sofa, waited the usual amount of time for delivery and on the day of delivery, the window came and went, with no sofa and no phone call. It turned out that at the warehouse they'd opened it and found a hole in the sofa and determined that they could not deliver. No one called me, even though my phone # is the key identity on the order. The whole 'damaged at the warehouse' thing sounds fishy to me, like someone really just wanted the sofa, damaged it, and has it set aside. The process isn't done - the store will be getting back to me about next steps. I may end up with my sofa yet.... after another day of lost wages. I think I will NOT do custom furniture with C & B. read more

Worst customer service and service period! I purchased a sectional sofa at Crate and Barrel which used to be one of my favorite stores. The purchase was from the Manhasset store. The merchandise came damaged as the salesperson I dealt with told me happens often. Because there was supposedly trouble with the warehouse, the furniture did not get picked up until two months later when I called the corporate office. I did not receive a refund as promised on the entire order. Crate and barrel claimed the "online store" was separate so they could not refund me.. For three months I made weekly calls. Customer service people say they will check into it, but in the end, you do not get what you paid for and the time and trouble you go through is absolutely not worth it. We purchased a rug to be delivered later. Two issues: First, I asked the sales person if the credit card would be charged when the rug was shipped. No, it was being charged that day, in essence providing an interest free loan of several hundred dollars to the company. Second, after I received the paperwork, it turned out that the delivery date was a few weeks in the future, which the sales person neglected to mention. I was expecting a quicker delivery. Maybe I'm just old school, expecting a bit more transparency. On the plus sign, you can "rent" swatches of rugs to take home and return for a refund. They have a huge selection for kids bedroom, bath. This store is very big it has two floors,, They have a huge parking lot. The people who work hear are nice and helpful. The furniture here is beautiful. If I could, I would decorate my whole house with it. They have many different types of furniture, indoor and outdoor items. They also have a large collection of kitchen utensils which is why I came here. I got an (2) 8-inch round baking pans and a frosting knife and the total was $25 which isn't bad. The staff are really great and sweet here. I walked in to get my brother a coffee mug and a male associate cheerily offered to help me find the particular mug I was looking for within less than 5 minutes of my walking into the store. After I had the mug in hand, I went to the cashier to get rung up and asked if they had a box at the end of my transaction once she handed me the bag with my purchase. She asked if it was a gift, and when I responded that it was, she said it was absolutely no problem, that she would package it up for me. Mind you, by this time it was already in the bag ready to go, and I told her it was fine that I would box it up later. Despite this, she insisted, and said it would be no problem, and did a great job boxing it up for me. The staff here are very genuine with great personalities and it made for a great shopping experience.
