In November we ordered a side table from Crate and Barrel online. The order was confirmed and promised a delivery within 60 days. We just took delivery today. I called in March after receiving notice of delays as late as May. I asked to cancel the order and to get a refund. C&B refused. This was a $1200 piece of furniture, so walking away wasn't possible. C&B offered a gift card for our trouble, which was never delivered. When the delivery time finally arrived, I took a day off work to receive the delivery on 4/26. I got an email the night before confirming the delivery for the following day on 4/27. After 5 months (3 months beyond what was promised at the time of the order) and wasting day off from work, the table arrived. C&B and their affiliates have lost a customer. I would never take a chance on ordering something from them again. read more

I wanted to commend the associates on staff for a stellar shopping experience today (5/14) at this location (Santana Row). Absolutely everyone on the floor greeted us, checked in, asked if we were doing okay, et cetera. I wish I remembered everyone's names, so I hope that management sees this and passes the word along to all of the staff (literally all of them working today) on a job well done. Nick was the first to check in with us and showed us a few diningware pieces of interest-- thank you! Trevor L. was the associate who saw us through to the end, but Barbara also helped us out with finding an item. Trevor, who finished our transaction, was knowledgable about the products, and extremely kind and thorough in his attention to detail. Don't waste your time or money here. "Designer" Andrew promised delivery with "White glove service" and a week later they refuse to deliver to my house. The excuse? Their truck is too big. Thank God for Nest security cameras, the midget truck doesn't even come onto our property. Moments later a giant Brown UPS shipping truck does, no problem. Andrew over promised and literally, they did not deliver. The movers were rude and this will be the last time I walk into the Ikea on steroids again. Thanks for wasting my time. I got a refund, but no "I'm sorry, no discount, no solution to get the table." Crate & Barrel will become just that, an empty crate store as more and more people skip dumb customer service managers and move to purchasing online based on honest reviews like this. After many furniture purchases and years of patronage, I quit. I will never shop in this store again! Their furniture really isn't very high quality, so perhaps it is a blessing. We just had the worst customer service experience with a botched family room sofa and chairs order. The sales representative helped put the order together but was flimsy on the details and took no responsibility for the errors. We are now stuck with 4K In furniture that does not match or even fit in our family room. I got a nasty email from the assistant store manager telling us since it was a custom order, we now own it. One chair is defective and the sofa is too small in comparison to the oversized chairs. What a nightmare. I don't know how high quality their products are, but I am sure their sales associate (named Andrew) doesn't deserve even 1 star for his customer service. I called in March, and he told me if I opted for the cash reward, we must pay the due balance at once, so I gave him my personal credit card. (he didn't mention anything else). One month later, I called in to add more stuff to the order. The most surprising thing is he spoke his mother language to me instead of English, even though he 100% knew I was Vietnamese in the first place (which raised my concern about why). And now he told me the reward is only applied if I use the Crate and Barrel credit card. He constantly affirmed that I misunderstood what he said in the first conversation and denied taking responsibility for not providing me with enough information. (My husband and I were both on the first call, how can both of us not understand what he said? If we both misunderstood, he better consider his conversation-delivery ability as a sales associate.) I admit that I applied for Crate and Barrel credit card with the thought of getting a 24-month financial payment, but my priority is to get a 10% cash reward, and I made it very clear to him in the first place. That is the reason why I used my personal card instead of the Crate and Barrel one. After 15 minutes of denying his fault, he finally told me that he could help me switch my account to the cash reward program (hella). Thereby, I gave him my crate and barrel credit card. He also forgot to tell us that we have to expect one month extra for delivery since it is ground shipping. His colleague fixed the mistake by voluntarily giving me a 50% discount on shipping fees when I called in to check my ETA. Today, I called again to update my email address and ask them why I haven't gotten my cash reward even though I paid $5K at once. (another 5k will be paid when my order is ready to ship). Long story short, he jumped in my throat; and told me that he didn't remember which program I wanted to opt for like there was nothing wrong with his services. Bravo!!! If you didn't remember, why didn't you write it down? Am I in charge of reminding him that kind of basic things like that? Again, he took 10 for fighting me over the phone and ended up with, "do you want to cancel your order?" Holly shit, why didn't he ask me that question 3 months ago? I bought a dining table and two couches in this place in May 2019. I was told that the table was available but the couches were not. I told them I'd like to have them delivered together so the sales associate told me that she will hold the table for me and all will be delivered early July. To my surprise, on 7/11, they delivered two couches and said the table was sold out. I called and asked why it was not hold for me. CS on call scheduled me delivery on 7/28. On 7/28, 1 hour before delivery, warehouse called me saying that the table will not be delivered that day because of quality issue. The next earliest delivery is going to be end of August. I waited for almost 4 months for this table to be finally delivered. I had to ask for PTO 3 times to wait for delivery that never happened. After this table fiasco, the CS manager contacted me and offered me a gift card that's 15% of my table price. Foolish me thinking this is nice of her doing so. I used the gift card on a dutch oven in November 2019. This backorder shit happened all over again!!!! I was promised delivery in December, but didn't happen. Now 2 months after purchase, they simply say that the manufacturer is delivering and there's nothing they can do. For this price, I would expect better logistics and service. Went to crate and barrel with a martini shaker we had purchased in December that had been defective since we got it, leaking pretty badly. We understood that they might not let us return, we were hoping for a credit. We went in understanding that they might not give us a credit either. I visited the Santana Rows Crate and Barrel in August. I was completely appalled by their customer service, so much so that I created a yelp account to share my experience. My husband and I entered shortly before the store closed and automatically we felt as though we were not welcome, especially upstairs in the furniture area. I laid down on the bed trying to feel the firmness of the mattress, and the lady just came to me with a very cold face, stared at us and said "can i help you". Crate&Barrel has some attractive features, but it has some drawbacks, as well. I purchased a living room sofa and matching chair, both covered with a fabric. They are attractive and at a reasonable price. The other positive feature is that the Crate&Barrel showroom in Santana Row is quite attractive, clean, and well-lighted that makes for an inviting customer experience. Unfortunately Crate&Barrel has some negatives for me as a consumer. I asked the salesperson how long the furniture would last. She replied: "Five years." That was disheartening. The documents that Crate&Barrel gave me did NOT mention a warranty and that was not encouraging. Crate&Barrel will not get rid of the old, existing sofa and chair; nor were they willing to take the old furniture out to the curb so I can have the city pick them up or allow them to be given away to someone in need. But I recently saw that one other furniture store in the Bay Area is now offering to take away the old furniture! Once the purchase was completed, the sales person appeared to lose interest. 1) She promised to keep me informed as the delivery date approached, but she failed to do that. 2) She said she would be glad to offer suggestions for purchasing pillows and throw blankets to accessorize colors in my living room, but she never reached out to me after delivery; nor did she respond to my email requesting help. Previously my living room furniture was leather and that was easy to maintain and clean. This new sofa and chair have a fabric cover and I have zero expertise in cleaning up stains with that. I sent an email to the salesperson asking for specific details on spot cleaning. The legal document that accompanied the delivery said to not use water-based cleaners. Heck, I had no idea what that meant so I wanted the salesperson's help. I have Resolve spray carpet cleaner, Woolite, and club soda, and wondered if those should be used. Salesperson never replied to my email for help. Eventually I had a small food stain on the sofa, so I called Crate&Barrel. When I asked for the saleslady the employee said she was out but she would assist me. I said that I need advice on spot cleaning my new Crate&Barrel furniture. All she would say was for me to look it up online. I expected more from Crate&Barrel. Plus, the employee on the phone treated me condescendingly and that was offensive. Bottom line impression: After I bought the furniture, Crate&Barrel employees were not inclined to be helpful. So I cannot say whether or not that I recommend Crate&Barrel. My husband and I found an arm chair that we both liked, but we were hoping to find it in a different fabric. I was sitting in the chair while he was looking at the fabric options on the panel when a woman walked over and asked if I needed help. I said no. She then asked my husband if he needed help, and he said no. As she turns around to walk away, she scoffs and says "enjoy the free seating" in a demeaning and bitchy tone of voice. She then stops to turn around to glance at me and scurries off before I had the chance to reply. I was stunned by her comment and just got up and left the store. I'm sorry I didn't want your help and wasn't dressed in an evening gown while shopping in Crate and Barrel. But, when you approach a customer with that tone of voice and your resting bitch face on, who would want your help? I get that the employees who work in the store are surrounded by expensive items, but does that somehow make them better than the people shopping in the store? read more

Well Crate and Barrel - you blew it again...more to come See today's updates at the end. This is a follow-up to my previous post...see additional comments at the end....... On November of 2020, we ordered a sectional couch. We were told it would be delivered by the holidays. Didn't get the couch until the end of February. While the delivery crew was unpacking the couch, several roaches jumped out from the packaging. Obviously, we refused the delivery. Called management, promised to deliver a replacement couch in 2 weeks. 4 weeks later a replacement couch was delivered. After the installation and a brief inspection, there several defects were identified. Crate and Barrel sent an inspector. Inspector confirmed the defects and ordered another replacement couch. Today, May 10, another replacement couch has been delivered only to find it that it was our original couch (with roached) packaged and shipped back to us. This is unbelievable. What kind of business Crate and Barrel is running now. Used to be a very trusted company.. Additional info - Obviously, we refused delivery on May 10. Received several calls. It was somewhat a surprise when we were told we would get you another couch within a week, so delivery was scheduled on May 19...Well, hold your breath...there is more to it. On May 19, about an hour before scheduled delivery, we received a call to let us know that only one section of the couch is available, and they are planning to deliver it to us...what a joke!!! Several more calls, now we told they need a month to deliver a new couch... At this point, we are not sure what to do...Again, surprise Crate and Barrell isn't able to deliver June 2 updates. Crate and Barrel delivered what was supposedly a replacement couch...this time; they delivered only one section and not the full couch. And the funny thing is they delivered the perfectly good section and not the defective one. Crate and Barrell - what is next? We are 6 months into it. read more

Who knew of all places I would be a regular at Crate and Barrel. This is really not my kind of place, fancy, icky, pricey. I feel like it's almost IKEA but one step up in decor and 3 steps up in the price ladder. However, I did find many useful plates and gift items here for some recent housewarmings as well as to replace broken "quirky" cups that the bf broke that I couldn't find anywhere else. The selection here is pretty unbeatable if you're looking for any type of glass, servingware, dinnerware, plate set ... etc. but do expect to fork over both your arms and at least one leg for any of their nicely polished items. I do like that they give you a pretty cool "gift box" when you buy any items that looks super presentable out of the store so no hassle for gift giving ... but other than that ...buy it elsewhere! read more

I thought I was well off until I walking into this place. We typically don't shop during black friday but my wife wanted to feel the "holiday spirit" so we went to Santana Row just to walk around. As we walked over from Valley Fair, we passed by this place and saw a lot of holiday decor so we decided to walk in and charge our holiday battery. The first floor was mostly kitchen/decoration and was filled with decorations and gift packages. It was like an elf's factory with the elves replaced by well dressed human running around for deals. I drifted towards the section that contained my new hobby - collecting cookware (although we don't cook at all, beside the occasional heating of takeouts). My eyes were immediately affixed on to the ScanPan collection they had and my tiny eyes got 2 sizes bigger when I saw the sales price on the 5 piece combo. IT WAS 30% OFF!!! It took all the will power I had not to start yelling and running like a mad man to the checkout counter. Needless to say, I convinced my wife that I needed it. The customer service was great and they packed everything for us. So far everything was OK, then I made a mistake of going upstairs. As the escalators moved, I was uplifted to a place of treasure and wonder, where beautifully made modern furniture were masterfully placed to complement each other. At this point, if I walked out, I'd still be OK. Then I made the mistake of turning the label around and read the price. OMG!!! a small bar cabinet costs the same amount as the average monthly income of a American family!!!??? I couldn't believe my eyes, perhaps they put the comma in the wrong place, I told myself. I flipped the label on the sofa next to it, WHAAAATTT this cost as much as my bathroom renovation???? I ordered a shower curtain and rings, both were listed as "In stock" at the santana row location. I got an email the next day saying, actually those rings are on backorder so you wont be able to pick them up for 10 days. I've liked C and B for many years. Recently, I ordered some wall art and was very pleased at the quality and look (reasonably priced too!) of the pieces. Ordering online and picking up at the Santana Row store was quick and easy - I just drove up to the back of the store, rang the bell and within minutes was loaded and driving away (I didn't have to go into the store - works great when you are pinched for time.) Spent almost $4k on an indoor/outdoor table and 6 chairs. When table arrived, were told 2 chairs were damaged in shipping. Rescheduled chair delivery. On second delivery, only 1 chair. I am very disappointed in their poor customer service. Yesterday I picked up an order at the Santana Row store in San Jose, CA. It was a custom order for new slipcovers for Crate and Barrel chairs and a sofa. They took my money ($2136.09) but when I complained that they had sent the wrong color, I was stonewalled by every person I spoke with. They kept saying, "You can't return it. It's store policy." They turfed me from one person to another including Connie, a guy (didn't get his name), Emily, and Caroline. All the while the manager, Alina, refused to speak with me, even though I saw her conferring with her underlings. Shame on you! More goodies than you can shake a stick at. The first floor is mainly your goods like glassware and eating ware, while the second floor is almost all furniture. This is located in Santana Row, so you already know things are going to be overpriced for all the dot.com workers who make a million bucks a year, so regular Joe's might have a hard time justifying buying something here. Sometimes, I have to slap myself and realize that the majority of the world can't afford this stuff and it makes me feel a bit better. Still, they do have A LOT of nice things that are somewhat affordable. They have pretty much everything you need in your kitchen, including all many different types of beer glasses. Can't go wrong with making sure your glass matches the beer you're drinking! The staff is very friendly and they do have a set of knives that cost about $899. Oh yeah! When I went to initiate a return, no one called me back. No one emailed me back. No one answered the phone. It's been weeks.
