I just ate the samosa and the butter chicken combo for dinner, and I immediately felt the urge to Yelp it because it was so good! The naan bread was flaky, soft, and moist in an amazing way. The samosa tasted very fresh and homemade. The butter chicken had big chunks of good quality meat, and the lentil soup was spicy and full of flavour. The menu has many options for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The place is better suited for takeout because it's very small and it's a bit dark. I think the price is very fair for the quality of food. I live close by, but I did not discover this place until now probably because the location is a little sketchy on Granville street. I will be back to try the rest of the combos!

Came here on a recommendation of a friend. He mentioned the Indian food here was VERY good, and that his Indian food cooking instructor recommended this place. Maybe I came in with a bunch of expectations as a result, but it definitely wasn't as stellar as I had hoped. Wow, this place is kick-ass GHETTO. There are 4 tables (8 seats in total) with mismatched chairs. The front is open (patio-style) so if you're sitting with your back facing the front of the restaurant, be sure not to accidentally fall backwards through the open window and break your head open on the sidewalk. There's a (ghetto) plastic utensil holder nailed to the wall, and you know the place is authentic when there are black specks all over the spoons and stuff. Awesome! The staff were very quiet. It looks like a husband + wife (or cousins) team. Today I went all out and had the lamb curry with samosa upgrade. The food came somewhat quickly, and it was brought to us.. in the cheapest plastic trays I have ever seen in my life. The plastic was so thin it was almost transparent! The flimsy containers you find in bags of cookies are thicker than this. As for the food itself.. the curries were quite good. Unfortunately, the dish was cold. As in barely lukewarm. So was the naan bread. Good thing I'm used to eating cold leftovers at home, or I would've sent it back. The samosa tasted.. creamy? But this is not a bad thing. Normally they're way too dry. As for the lamb, it was DRY. Like sand. Yikes! One last thing: you can collect customer loyalty cards. Buy 10 meals, get a free one~ Overall it's not bad, but I'm not sure if I'd come back.

Yay for good affordable Indian food downtown! I haven't started eating Indian food until recently. All the curries have different flavours, all which are wonderful. The butter chicken combo ($11) includes a small salad, rice, daal and butter chicken. It's not a lot of pieces of chicken, but it really is filling. It is a slightly sweet tomato sauce. Chicken tikki masala is good as well, but I cannot comment as it was a tad too hot for me. Lamb curry was also nice, not that gamey. Naan ($2) is made to order in a tandoori oven and it's so wonderfully fluffy and crispy. Limited seating, around 10-12 spots.

Always great service whether we dine in or take out to go. Food is amazing, the decor and service are simple and not overdone. Very comfortable. There has never been a time where we did not absolutely rave about the quality to our friends. We dine there about once a month. A treat not to be missed!

I went here with a friend the first time and had just rice and paneer curry and I was not that impressed. But tried their lunch plate once and it is 10$ and loved their naan and the spread. A good Indian place in downtown to try if u are craving for some naan and curry. The only suggestion would be a bigger place as it is too too small.

I absolutely love Indian food and I don't think that fact skewed my opinion of my experience at Crave India. I visited this establishment a couple of nights ago and intend to go back tonight. It's the best causal dining Indian food establishment I've been to in Vancouver. It gets a solid five stars from me. If you read my previous reviews you'll learn that one of the things I am consistently looking for when I review different restaurants is value. Crave India has tremendous value. I truly felt like I got my monies worth in visiting this establishment. The restaurant itself isn't one that allows for you to sit and enjoy your meal. It has about three small tables inside, so the idea is that you get your food to go. This isn't a deal breaker for me. I will say that I had to reheat some of my meal when I returned home, but it didn't negatively impact the taste. My favorite thing about this establishment was the gentleman making naan bread from scratch! That was a big deal to me to see that the food was being freshly prepared right there in store and not being warmed up out of a plastic bag that was bought in bulk at Costco. The taste of the food was great. I ordered the chicken tiki masala and it was absolutely delicious. The meal came with jasmine rice, salad, naan bread and lentil bean dish. It was flavorful and filling. I loved that the masala had fresh peppers in the dish; again proving the freshness and quality of their food. I also had their chicken stuffed naan bread. This, too, was a delight! All this and I spent under $20CAD. Treat yourself to Crave India. It's not a suit and tie kind of establishment, but it's damn good and the value is impeccable.

I had their food in the past for lunch, and it was fairly priced and tasted good. This time I ordered through their website for takeout. And it was surprisingly expensive. As you can see in the picture, they gave me only 2 pieces of tandoori chicken and I paid $8.00 for them. Is this normal? Or is this because of COVID-19 situation?

Another late night, we were on the hunt for food. We didn't want hot dogs, fries, or hot dogs. We walked by this place and it still looked open. We peered inside, and spotted butter chicken on their menu. "We could use some butter chicken.." Then the lady in the shop came to the door and unlocked it for us to enter. She offered us a butter chicken & rice combo for $5.95. We were sold. We took a seat at one of the tables. This place is small, with only 8 seats. Within minutes, a bowl of butter chicken on top of rice arrived. Verdict: Butter chicken wasn't bad at all. Smooth creamy sauce, but lack of chicken pieces. It was a bit more spicy than I'm used to though. The rice was fresh. This was seriously the perfect late night eat!! They also have lots of other options on their menu. A good place to also try take out. Friendly server + decent food, now I know where to come on a late night hunger hunt!

Cheap, delicious friendly service. Samosas are spicy and crispy. Butter chicken bursting with flavour and lots of chicken. My favourite thing is the garlic nann huge, fresh and cheap. I only walked a block from my place and I swear I was being followed because of the aroma of fresh garlic nann in my take away bag!!

Sometimes you just crave Indian food. But, sometimes you don't want to spend a lot of money for it either. At $6.50 for a rice curry bowl, Crave India hits the spot! The portion size is perfect, especially for the price. I love that it comes with a ton of sauce as well. I tried the Butter Chicken and it was creamy, spicy and super tasty. Definitely not as authentic as other Indian restaurants, but it satisfied my craving for Indian food. The restaurant itself is quite tiny. I recommend Crave India for takeout, not for dining in. The staff is very friendly and my wait time was next to none. I put my order in for the Butter Chicken rice curry bowl and less than a minute later, it was in a bag and ready for me to take back to the office. This is definitely my new go-to spot when I want some quick and decently priced Indian food.

I have been here a few times and every time I am impressed. Usually have their chickpea masala and garlic naan and although the portions aren't large I'm always full. The first two times I came here there were line ups out the door and for waiting I got a free samosa on the house (which was also really great.) excited to share this place with friends and family. read more

I'm so glad I can get perfect curry, in hurry, without the fine dining milieu and service premiums required at most other Indian restaurants in Vancouver. The best cheap eats are found in holes in the wall and Crave India is a rare gem found in this sterile city of high rents and overpriced food. My favourite at Crave is the chicken tikka masala. A perfectly spicey curry rich in texture and tomato that does not cause upset stomach after so you can leave the pepto at home. The best side is their naan. You can watch them kneed the dough and bake fresh and fluffy for you. read more

This is THE place for good, affordable, take-out Indian. It is not fancy, but the naan is fresh and fantastic, the butter chicken is good, and the shai paeneer is delicious. (I flip-flopped between 4 and 5 stars, but ended up giving 4 by comparing this place to Rangoli.) read more

Seriously, I don't understand what's wrong with some of the reviewers here on Yelp. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with this great East Indian food restaurant on Granville Street. You get a delicious, nutritious Indian dish for DIRT cheap! Great personalized service from Deepak, who takes the time to get to know you, ask you how your day was, what you do for a living and all that... and serves your food with a sincere, friendly smile! He really cares!!! The food is excellent, way more than what you would expect from a tiny, little place on the busiest street in Vancouver. If you want to stay and eat, there are several tables and chairs available for you. Most of the time, the place is only 10% full, so LOTS of room to stretch out and watch the professional darts, soccer, auto racing or whatever else is showing on their two TV screens. The food is delicious. Good portions, beautifully spiced, well balanced meals presented in a neat, little take-out tray. Plastic utensils hang off the wall for your convenience. Anyone expecting a full-body massage and hot tub will be disappointed. This is NOT a five-star luxury hotel! That will cost you roughly seven hundred times more. I am Indian and this is my go-to/fave Indian food joint in the city. The chicken tikka masala is delicious paired with their garlic naan. And it's cheap! We usually do take out as there is minimal space inside One thing that bugs me: they pick and choose when they're making garlic naan. The last 2 out of 3 times I went, they didn't have garlic naan. Annoying. Their naan is still good, but when you have prepared yourself for garlic naan, it's just a let down lol read more

Finally The granville strip offers quick pick, fast food with Indian flavor and does it do it handsomely. I found out about this during the halloween granville crawl, they had just opened a week ago and was i surprised !! The Food is really really good. Getting authentic Indian street food (wraps are called Kathi rolls) is awesome but the taste is really sumptuous that most lower mainland Indian restaurants fail at. I had the Paneer kathi roll, there is also a Tofu option. Other dishes i havent tried yet but the other customers who did were all praises for the new eatery. I went there the next day again ! I guess that speaks of the quality and I cant wait to be in Downtown again to try the other goodies there. I did try the Shahi Tofu/Paneer and it was one of the best Shahi sauce i have had in Vancouver. Infact the only shahi sauce comparable was available at a few treasure restaurants in India. The Butter Chicken fans HAVE to try this as all the carnivorous customers i saw during my brief time there couldnt say enough good things about it. The curries were sumptuous and not oily and really a delight. Its a quick grab place as there isnt a lot of space. The owners are very friendly and suggest good options. The owner being a well travelled person from all over India knows his stuff and easily brings the best from India right in the Middle of Granville st !!! Best Indian food ever. Lots of flavor and just spicy enough. My wife is from Hyderabad and she says the samosas taste like the ones her mom makes. It tastes like home made food to me. Many restaurants at least in the states use a lot of heavy cream and not enough spices. It often doesn't have the flavor but this place does. It is also very inexpensive, although it small and better for take out. There are a few tables for two. Space wise it's that of a carry out pizza joint read more

Some seriously good Indian food! It's not fancy, it's not expensive, there isn't a wide menu to choose from, but it doesn't matter because the food is made in front of you and so good! I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Shanhi Paneer, samosa, rice and naan and it came to just over $25. A steal of a deal. Have I mentioned how good the food is??? Definitely worth a visit. read more

With a fast food like appearance, you expect mall style Indian fast food taste. Not with this place. Here you get fast food speed and price minus the watered down fast food taste. The food here tastes like real homemade Indian food with just the right amount of spice. The chicken tikka masala had well cooked good quality chicken, and they didn't skimp on it either. read more

The reviews don't lie. This place is really good for really cheap. I went in expecting the worst since it felt like it was just going to be cheap fast Indian food (which is usually pretty bad), but I left extremely surprised and satisfied. The combo platters will run you $10-13, but the added naan is worth it. Everything on the combo was really tasty and it was a lot of food. Everyone that was working there was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving Indian food! read more

I don't care if the utensil holder is hanging off the wall, I don't care if this place is "ghetto"....I prefer the little hole in the wall places anyway. The food is delicious, the people are friendly and you get the added bonus of all the wonderful smells coming from the cooking area. What more could you want?? We were desperate for vegetarian food, having eaten Lebanese good at lunch, we're looking for Indian for dinner. The place is more a take out place and has just 8 chairs. The food is freshly made, at least the naans. The spice level was intense. Can't expect subtlety from a take out place. The naan was very good. read more

Brought there by my Indian friend. Best naan bread I've had! Butter chicken was creamy and tasty. Best Indian food I've tasted in Vancouver so far. I can only give 4 stars for I'm not Indian and haven't tried enough other places. Note if you plan to go in big group, space is very limited in the restaurant (3 or 4 small tables). read more

This place has the best Indian food in the lower mainland. I've tried restaurants in Abbotsford, Surrey and Vancouver and out of the many many places I've tried nothing comes close to Crave India. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, it makes you feel like you're eating a home cooked Indian meal prepared just for you! It's a small place and there isn't a lot of seating but it's very cozy and cute. I love it. I've brought all my friends and my family to try there food and they loved the food too. The food is so tasty! it has all the flavour it needs and it isn't super spicy! It has just the right amount and mix of spices. I've tried the Shahi Paneer (vegetarian version of butter chicken), Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala with rice, garlic and plane naan. My favourite is the Shahi Paneer but they are all delicious. If you've never been here and looking to try Indian food then you definitely need to come to this place. read more

We particularly like Channa Bhatura because Seattle hasn't been able to get this dish right. Staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating as well. Food came out fast. The only time we had to wait was to get the check. Very highly recommended if you like Punjabi food and are visiting Vancouver.

The curry was nicely spicy, with onions and peppers and the rice, delicious. The naan was a half piece and I would have liked the whole piece --it was so buttery and the perfect dipper for the thick curry sauce. The mango lasee was cold and the perfect accompaniment for the curry. Service was attentive and our food was served quickly.Would recommend!

We got the look as if we were sure we were in the right place not in a bad way but as if we were sure that was what we wanted. Every time we have visited there was no wait to get seated in fact the place is almost empty. Just a few people at a time. They are very friendly and feels like family vibes and I love that. Like mom is in the kitchen. Dad got the front door and the boys are bringing in the produce from outside. Service is great and the family is very humble and proud as they should be. Food comes out pretty quick and you can always get a drink to keep you comfortable. I got a glass of Malbec my favorite. Two people two dishes we were reminded that it is a lot of food and would be satisfied. Thankfully! Wife loves butter chicken and I love korma but got the saag my second runner up. Garlic naan and rice... we were full! End of the meal my man tells us they just finished making dessert and brought us some great bread pudding. Unexpected but they did not charge us for it and seemed very gracious for us dropping in. I would also love to see more businesses like this! I hope they thrive in 2026 and continue to do so.

When it was my turn to order, it was quick since I had already selected beans that I wanted to purchase, and my oat latte. Option was asked if I wanted to dine in or takeout, and I went with the latter. After I got my drink, I took a seat on one of the benches they have outside the store. There's also a decent amount of indoor seating and an outdoor patio section in front of the store. Not my first time trying Nemesis since I've been to Vancouver before, but definitely a reminder of why they are listed as one of the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops. If I wasn't so full from brunch, I would have also gotten one of their pastries. Seeing them all was very tempting.

My experience was so bad I have to write a review here which I never do. So think about how bad it was. Incredibly ignorant, rude and overall shi**y people work here. They wont know what customer service is if it bit them in the a**. If a rating lower than 1 existed I would give them that. First they give you the wrong order then say you're lying. Because professional mature BUSY people like myself running a business in the city have nothing better to do than lie over a shi**Y piece of $10 chicken takeout order. I found this place a month ago for relatives who were visiting from overseas and would only eat indian food. I would walk 30 minutes to get this food as I read good reviews. A few days ago I ordered a ton of food with Chicken Tika Masala. The guy repeated the order over the phone. Then he called me to say pick it up because we're closing at 5pm. Which is NOT what their timing was on the web. So I had to leave work quickly and go pick up the food. Food turned out to be different. Instead of Chicken Tika they gave me Saag a vegetarian dish. I still have it in the container because no one ate it. When I called today to order again I politely reminded the guy what happened before. I wanted to make sure he got the order right this time. He was extremely rude and acted as if HE had done me some great favor by giving me the WRONG food. As if I was lying to steal his $10 chicken plate. LMAO! Not only is this place dirty, its customer service is even worse. If you don't order over the phone, they make you wait 20 minutes like a fool. And if you order over the phone they give you the wrong food and then accuse you of lying. Health Service Canada needs to pay a visit to these idiots. I will add to this review if I get an apology. The ignorant fool on the phone needs to learn basic manners and customer service and realize not everyone is out to steal his $10 chicken. Not only have they lost a customer for life, they've also shown their ignorant a** to the world. This review will be read by countless people so they can be warned about what they're dealing with. I would never order food from here again and don't recommend it to anyone else either. If you get the wrong order, which happens at other restaurants too, not only will you not be compensated by these people they'll also accuse you of lying. The only right way to deal with the issue was for the fool over the phone to act like a professional, apologize for the wrong order and take my new order. Even after the wrong order I was willing to order again because I thought they made a mistake. Which is okay. Its okay to make mistakes and mature adults apologize for their mistakes and try to fix them instead of accusing their own customers of lying. Overall, horrible experience. Wont recommend it to anyone. None of my relatives and friends will eat here. The good food is NOT worth the bad customer service experience and being accused of lying over a $10 chicken. My only message to the idiot over the phone is; Buddy, you can keep your $10 chicken with this review for the entire world to see. I hope accusing me and being rude over the phone was worth it. This place is awesome. The curries and kathi roles are delicious, the spice level is just right-- you can order to your taste-- and comes closer to eateries I've visited in New Delhi. The naans are super fresh, chewy and made in front of you... absolutely the best naans I've had in Vancouver. My partner is east Indian and she agrees that the food here packs that authentic taste everyone is after. The owners are great, you can glance over the counter and see the chef preparing your food and extracting savory naans from the tandoor oven. And perhaps equally as important, the food is reasonably priced and served to you quickly. I used to live 1 block away from one of Vancouver's number one Indian establishments and I've waited in line like a dope to eat there. The atmosphere is nice, if you want to impress your date... but is the hype about the food all that? I think not. I'd gladly skip the high price tag for the authentic tasting food they're serving up at Crave India. Kudos. Can't wait for my next visit. read more

The first time I went there the food was good. We had their chicken tikka masala, lamb curry and their tasty garlic naan. The main reason I am giving it two stars is because the guy in the front (the cashier) is pretty rude and not helpful at all. Also this last time me and friends went to this place was today (a Sunday) and their food was not good. The butter chicken was a little saltier than needed, the meat was not tender and there was not enough butter in it either. They also did not have garlic naan which is what we wanted. So their quality and the availability of certain things is not consistent. I will definitely not come here again. There are many other better Indian restaurants in Vancouver so do not waste your time here. read more

Loved their Butter Chicken! Usually Butter Chicken is not so spicy at other places but theirs had full of flavor and nice spiciness. I think this is what Butter Chicken should taste like.
