Absolutely horrible. We just spent $75 on our meal and it was absolute garbage. We got a very tiny order of Brussels sprouts that were a quarter of the size of normal Brussel sprouts loaded with fish sauce and sugar to the point where it was inedible. The sticky rice was old and was basically like white polenta. The Thai salad was supposed to be made with greens and we got a small salad with white romaine and iceberg. Ridiculous! The chicken satay was dry, dehydrated and thin. I was disappointed the last time we ate here and thought we'd give it one more go. The soup was full of sugar. Inedible. Same peanut sauce for everything.Horrible. Never again. I want a refund. We are absolutely furious and I suggest anyone that orders from this place check their food before they leave. If it looks like this and taste like it's loaded with sugar, demand your money back. read more

Solid Thai food in an area where Thai food is hard to find. Delicious and they do take out!!

The drunken noodles were delicious. Like, surprisingly delicious. Especially for a Thai place in a town with a total of 2 restaurants, without a single Thai person in sight (maybe the chefs were Thai, but we didn't see them). We asked for extra spicy and it was perfect. The pad basil (with chicken) was not quite as flavorful - a more subtle dish, but also solid overall. This place gets crowded around dinnertime, so it looks like reservations are needed on the weekends unless you come early. The service was pleasant but not super attentive (water glasses not refilled, took a while for us to get their attention when we needed something). I think Thai Nam Phet is still my favorite Thai in the area, at least in terms of the stir fried dishes (Pad Prik Khing)... but maybe the noodle dishes here are better. We will definitely be back for those drunken noodles. read more

Buyer Beware.... We recently visited the restaurant. Be very careful about the specials... we ordered 2 bowls of butternut squash soup ( maybe 12 ounces in each ) my fault for not asking the price, the other soups on the menu were between $6.00 - $8.00. When are billed arrived we were charged $30.00. I questioned the price and the server said, yes that's the price. I feel that is completely insane, it's butternut soup, not Lobster Bisque. They also charge for a regular soda every time you order one. Even though the service and the food was good, I doubt I will go back. 2 entrees, 2 soups, 4 sodas = $100.00 plus tip..... I can get 2 prime rib dinners for less. And still have $ in my pocket. read more

Cravin' Thai was delicious - and so unexpected for its location! My boyfriend and I came here for the first time last week and I can't wait to come back! To start, we ordered the sampler which has: 2 chicken satays, 2 spring rolls, 2 curry puffs, 2 fish cakes, and 2 shrimp wraps with a selection of sauces: cucumber, peanut, plum, and chili. The curry puffs were absolutely amazing, I'm going to get a full order of these the next time we come and not share, mwahahaha! We also got the thai fries to share, which were so interesting! Crispy fries covered in thai spices and a hint of lime. My boyfriend enjoyed these more than I did, but he really enjoys spice. I liked them once I started dipping them in the leftover plum sauce from the sampler - yum! For dinner I got the massamum curry, which was described as mild. There's the absolute tiniest kick of heat to it - but if I can do it, so can you! The texture of the peanuts was a nice surprise. He got the fish basil, which was literally an entire fish. It was delicious! But, for a first timer eating a whole fish like that, a little bit difficult to eat. "Food with obstacles" is what he said when he kept pulling little bones out of his mouth. That definitely won't deter us from coming back though. The staff was very helpful and gave us lots of recommendations. The food took a little bit of time to come out, but it's so worth it for the wait because everything is lovingly made in house. Happy Day my Adventurers! This place is the BOMB! Amazing yummy true to Thai food taste. Yes I can say this because I took a class on Asian cuisine for a class in college. I also want to say the drinks are pretty strong, especially the second round. Walking in the place isn't that big, enough to fit maybe 50 people plus waitstaff. Which by the way because there were so many tables open with no reservation signs the host looked a little flustered scrambling to figure out where she would be sitting the walk ins. I would suggest signs if they don't already only because we heard it was about 45 minutes wait and didn't understand why the open tables. After seating us our waitress was attentive and sweet, a little funny too. She quickly took our drink order (I ordered the Siam Sunrise that has hot pepper flakes), the others ordered a ginger based drink; a little too sweet for me. I ordered the duck, which is my go to dish for Thai cuisine, as well as Pad Thai. It was plated very nicely and tasted even better, crispy but still tender. This came over a bed of white rice and enough sauce to keep it moist and a ton of sautéed veggies. The dish wasn't heavy, but having appetizers really filled me up. They also sell a fish dish that literally has the eyes, so don't be surprised. This was also over a bed of rice and a variety of green veggies. Everything I swear was made so colorfully! My co-worker ordered the salmon which he said was delicious, cooked perfectly. Unfortunately we did't get dessert, so I can't really speak of it. Next time I visit though I definitely will check out there menu. read more

My fiancé and I were visiting for a wedding in the area she grew up in & she used to come to this spot back in the day. We decided to take a trip down memory lane for her and hit up this spot. Now sometimes when you head down memory lane, restaurants that you thought were really good may not have that same effect trying them down the road. Luckily for my fiancé, Cravin Thai lived up to her memory hype. For starters we got the curry puffs & brussel sprouts. They were great because they both are non-traditional Thai dishes that had Thai elements infused with them. For my main, I ordered the Red Curry with Chicken & it was a solid dish. The balance was a little off where there was too much coconut milk and not enough heat to the dish. If they figure that balance out, then you have an all star dish. All in all we were pretty happy coming here. Everyone working at Cravin Thai was extremely friendly and service was speedy. Mix that with good food & nostalgia, you're in for a good time. read more

Tried Cravin Thai today and was very impressed. Appetizers were delicious. We had Tom Yum soup, sweet chicken wings and spring rolls. All appetizers were wonderful. Mains were Pad Thai, Massumun and chicken & broccoli. All were just ad good as the appetizers. Side note: all employees were properly attired with masks. Bathroom were spotless. Thai cuisine is one of our favorites. . . .when it's done well. Cravin Thai goes beyond "well," to the next level (terrific)! Although a bit hard to find (even with GPS) and less than desirable street parking, Cravin Thai is worth the effort. The ambience is a sort of Thai and saloon mashup, with metal ceilings and wood wainscoting. But it all seems to come together nicely. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Friendly but not fawning. The Thai chicken wings were spicy, and the tamarind often used in such sauce was not overdone. We loved the Thai calamari, light and crispy. The shrimp wraps were excellent, although the serving was a bit scant. Pad See Ew was terrific, although there could have been more noodles. And the basil spaghetti with smoked tofu was outstanding. My wife and went to Cravin Thai on a recommendation by our son and his gf. Our expectations were exceeded and we will go there again. The Pad See Eew is wonderful, my wife's Pad Broccoli with Chicken was excellent. The curry puffs and Thai spring rolls were the best. Now the real treat is their fried ice-cream. I never wanted it to end. If you like Thai this is the place to go. This place has gone downhill Been here several times over the years and even supported them during covid with take out (which always took longer then they said it would be for pick up and almost always was wrong somehow or cold ) with that being said me and the hubby went out for a date night and the place was so load you couldn't even enjoy the dinner or have a conversation. When we asked to have our table moved we were told no and when we complained we were told that is it a bad thing that people are having a good time and enjoying them selves having a good time and enjoying them selves is great but everyone in the restaurant has that same right But i guess a little party of two doesn't give as big of a tip as a party of 15 Never going back again if that's the way they see it Thanks for a wonderful date night (NOT ) And to top it all off watch out for the extra 3.99 they charge to use a card to pay that they don't tell you about before hand. Went here for the first time yesterday, couldn't have been happier. In terms ONLY of food quality, I suppose if this restaurant were in a major city (NYC, L.A., etc.) I wouldn't give it five stars. But come on, this is far northwest suburban/rural NJ -- the food is great and perfectly acceptable. (In fact, given the location, I was surprised by how good it is. It's much better than just 'phoned in.') In terms of things other than food quality, I'd give it five stars anywhere in the world! It's a lovely, tasteful, comfortable, welcoming space. The young staff is intelligent, attentive and friendly but professional. By chance, I was able to have a conversation with one of the owners, Toula, who struck me as a *really good person* and exactly the kind of entrepreneur one would like to support as a business owner and civic participant. My impression is that the restaurant does contribute positively to the community. Given all this, and that their kitchen can prepare "non-Thai" dishes (i.e., if you hate Thai food), I highly recommend patronizing this restaurant. read more

Stopped in for lunch after avoiding this place for a year.I love Thai and it's close to my house so I gave it another try. Our server was nice and efficient but the kitchen is very slow even though there were only a few tables.If you only have a limited lunch break I would give eating here a second thought. We both had the drunken noodle lunch special and enjoyed it.The tea they provided with our lunch was Lipton green tea.I know it's Sussex County, but maybe you should have better quality! I think this place could be 5 yelp stars with a few tweaks,but it's been run this way for a few years now,so I expect more of the same. This place has so much potential to be great, it's a shame they can't get some consistency in the food and service. Our last lunch order consisted of Panang Curry, Pad Thai, and Pineapple Fried Rice; all with chicken. They must have forgot both the peanut sauce and the chicken on the Pad Thai rendering it a bowl of plain noodles with a few piece of broken-up egg. The pineapple fried rice contained a few small pieces of pineapple and chicken but otherwise was a bowl of fried rice. The panang curry had very good flavor and heat, but again very skimpy with the vegetables and chicken; definitely not enough for a lunch portion. The few times we've dined in the service has been spotty; there appears to be a large amount of turnover with the waitress staff. They do have to creative tasty cocktails if you're find yourself dining in. With a Groupon deal outstanding for a while now, beware of quantity over quality which is what we've been experiencing. read more

I had a 'Jones' for Thai food and we were in New Jersey... this is the only Thai place for miles and what a find! This cozy place serves up delicious food and the wait staff is incredibly attentive. Michelle was our server and she is an absolute doll. She even filled my service dog's bowl with water for me.. So I'm with my buddy who is half Lumberjack and half Neanderthal... needless to say he'd never had Thai food. He remarked that in the day I had been up visiting him, he's been exposed to more culture than at any time in his life. He's the fast food kind of guy, so I wanted to show him what good food tastes like. I started off with a Thai iced-tea with a splash of cranberry juice.. it was heavenly. He had a diet Coke... what a shock. But he did take a sip of my iced tea and liked it... so I'll take that as a victory. We also had Chicken Satay and it was some of the best I have had. My buddy liked the peanut dipping sauce so much, he saved it for the meal - yes, he dipped the broccoli in the sauce and remarked, "This peanut sauce makes the broccoli worth eating." Since he's a Thai food newbie, I suggested he try what I was having - the Pad Se Ew with chicken. He's in culinary love... Loved every morsel and had some of mine because I couldn't finish. Afterward, he had the fried ice cream and commented that is was outstanding and far better than he anticipated. I would most certainly eat here again. Awesome place! Totally not what we expected! The inside looks like a dive bar but the food was amazing!! Better than some of the thai places in NYC!! Very authentic. Loves the pad see ew and the pineapple fried rice. The massaman curry was very flavorful and the curry puff was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The soup was very flavorful too. My friends live out here and love this place and wanted to eat here. I'm from NY and know what excellent Thai food is and this is not in part because it's fusion but I'm surprised by the star rating at this place. It's good for out in this part of NJ but it's missing that simple authentic flavor. We ordered a bunch of things from a menu we saw online to share: Thai spring rolls: we got 2 orders and the menu says there are 6 in an order, we got only 3 in each so it wasn't a mistake! $6 for 3???! I get a whole meal for that in NYC. Rip off of $12 but at least they were good but still. Thai chicken wings with (not so) spicy sauce: 6 wings for $7 were very good but if I order something spicy at a Thai place, I'm expecting really hot, this was more like medium. Mixed Veg soup: friend ordered cause she wasn't feeling well and she said it was good. Thai salad: friend raved about this special salad I just HAD to have...I can't tell you what was so special though; mixed greens, tomatoes, red onion, tofu, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs but the peanut dressing was good. Not worth $8 for a small tin. Drunken noodles: really soft broad noodles with tomatoes, onion, bell peppers, carrots and basil in a midly spicy sauce, I like this one. $8 with no meat and portion for entrees are a good size. Chicken pad thai: pretty good but not great, $12 Beef pad see-eew: my friend loves this and always orders it, I dont care for it. Soft broad noodles w egg, broccoli in a black sweet soy sauce, $12. Beef green curry: Thai spices blended w hot green chili simmered in a coconut sauce w eggplant, bamboo shoots, bell pepper, string beans and basil. This one was pretty spicy but the sauce was watery and lacked enough beef for an entree and also that rich flavor, $12. The restaurant doesn't have a site so I found another menu online different from the one we saw but the prices are still not correct so I don't want to share it with you. I don't think this place is bad but don't mistake it for REAL Thai, it's just good for far out NJ where getting to NYC is a task. read more

I LOVE Cravin Thai and feel fortunate to have this cool intimate restaurant nearby. When I dine in Tula the owner and staff are always friendly and warm. The drinks are the most creative, ginger drinks, pear martini's, kama sutra's, with great flavors. The bartender is really nice and the servers will remember you. The Thai dishes all are DELICIOUS! so the combinations are very delightful! and they have wok items too. Ambiance of the green metallic ceiling and good lighting is always perfect. Music is nice and sometimes a cooking show on TV, get comfortable in the seating. Any reviews that are ultra picky are missing the the boat on this place. Thanks Cravin, your awesome!!! Why the bad reviews yelpers? Was I in a different restaurant? I was in a nicely decorated place with fantastic sangria and friendly service. They accommodated eight of us and did a great job with a large party. We started with a sampler and I enjoyed everything other than the fish cakes, I'll admit, they need work. Very nice Thai restaurant just outside of Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge in Northwestern New Jersey. This is that part of Jersey you probably don't know. I love Thai food, and knew what I was looking for walking in...it was the duck panang curry. It wasn't on the menu, but they made it anyway. I'll get back to that in a minute. I ordered the spring rolls, which they did a very good job on, and it came out in about 5 minutes. I had the Thai iced coffee to drink, which was right on target. Now back to that duck. As I said, it's not a normal dish on their menu. I asked them to combine their duck with their panang curry, and to make it Thai hot or super hot. The owner smiled and said, "I can do that". Her name was Toula. For it not being a typical dish, they did very well with my favorite Thai food. They nailed the heat level for me, hehehe. The one drawback was that they do not have hot Thai tea, which is another favorite of mine. I would add that and duck panang Toula. We happened upon this restaurant a few weeks ago and decided to try it for takeout. Most of the food we've tried has been excellent. The massaman curry, the spring rolls, the grilled shrimp salad, and the pad Thai were all delicious. We weren't huge fans of the pad see ew. Coming from NYC where delivery is quick, it has been an adjustment to call at 6pm and be told it will be at least an hour for pickup, but I'm glad they're busy so they'll stay in business! read more

I had the green curry chicken. It was loaded with fresh vegetables and just the right amount of heat.
