Long benches await with built-in paper towel holders in each table. I ordered the Who Dat Special, which came with a pound of shrimp, two potatoes and one ear of corn. Shrimp were a nice size, and well seasoned. Corn was good too. Potatoes could have been better if the seasoning was stronger. The GPS will take you to some museum so be sure to turn into the right area. You just walk up to the window and order. Paper towels at your table. This place was such a treat. Biggest regret...we forgot our beer...'cause a cold beer to wash down this good food would've been perfect. So from the outside it looks like a shack...an extended shack...but its actually a really cool, clean spot. There are two lines...one for carry out and then one for those looking to eat at the location. Most of the seating is outside...but there is a small room for indoor seating. Decor is very southern with sports and various music albums. The menu is simple with shrimp, crawfish, crab legs, several combination plate offers, and tamales (which has to be purchased by half dozen). My table ordered the pound of shrimp, half pound of shrimp and the crawfish. All of us were satisfied. The corn that we ordered (it doesn't come with corn or sausage and must be ordered seperately) was amazing and went well with our food. The seasoning was on point. Tried Crawdad Hole for the first time today. I really wanted to sit in (or out rather) and eat but nobody was really up for crawfish so I enjoyed it from the comfort of my home. I read other reviews about how it's a literal "hole" in the wall & when I pulled up, it surely is. It's more of a shack with outside seating and apparently some indoor seating (I didn't go in) but I could see a single group of people sitting out on a picnic table enjoying their food. Ordering was easy. There's a white board right when you get to the window with their menu items and prices. I got the crawfish by the pound, of course, and the 'Krabby Plate' and also 1/2 dozen tamales for my mom. The Krabby Plate comes with what looks like a half cluster of crab legs, corn, 2 potatoes & sausage. It looked like a kids meal. The crab legs weren't that good (very basic) & the corn was awful--it tasted like it was spoiled if corn can spoil. However, the only reason I'm rating it 4 stars is because the crawfish was AMAZING! I guess that's truly what they're known more for. Spice level did not disappoint, seasoned to perfection, & a pretty decent size. It was so good I ate it in one sitting, which I never really do because to me, it gets old fast lol. But each bite brought new flavor; I would go again for the crawfish! First take on rolling by, we were like "is this it?" It is a wooden shack on the outside. We see a line with a bright "open" sign. Then we thought it was an order outside place. Well that line was take out side in the front. U go to the left side to enter where it says "entrance byob." Duh.. that's the way to come in. We seat ourselves. It's probably the only reason why they lose out on a star for me. The place can be a bit deceiving from the looks of it. It's literally a "hole"...they have to live up to their name "Crawdad hole." But seriously this place is the gem of Jackson Mississippi. We found a diamond in the rough especially from being out of towners, we were not going to miss out. We get the full Mississippi bayou experience here. This is the origin of crawfish and we knew we needed to have an authentic Mississippi meal. We came out extremely happy with our experience here. Heated outdoor seating and minimal indoor seating. Picnic table seating is the norm here. Apparently they get busy here often. The place is it's best for their seafood at its freshest. The hand sanitizers hanging on the sides are convenient before digging in. The spices and hot sauce are available at almost every table with a roll of paper towels. You line up at the entrance window to place your order of food. The menu has crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, turkey necks, tatters etc. We ordered the Crabby plate (1/4 lb crab legs) and the The Who Dat! with the shrimp all plates with corn, taters, and sausage. It was fast and ready to be picked up on the right side window. Ask for a big plastic boil container to combine the good stuff! I never had a Cajun bowls with tamales but it is a winner here!The place doesn't butter the food up much but I feel the seafood speaks for itself. They all came with sides of melted butter to drizzle onto the seafood. It must have been boiled in some mean cajun flavors because it was AMAZZINNGG!!! The boil isn't over cooked and neither under seasoned. The slight kick is perfect! They really know how to prepare their seafood! I fell in love with the southern Mississippi hospitality and the flavors of their seafood. People here are just super friendly and I love their southern twang! Worst shrimp I ever tried to eat. absolutely horrible and total waste of money. I will not go back. Shrimp were hard and rubbery and the seasoning was terrible. All the shrimp were over cooked but some had to have been leftover from days ago and rebooked over and over. A great example of what not to do when cooking and serving shrimp. Cocktail sauce was totally lacking as well. If people eat this swill and declare it good then they have never had good boiled shrimp. Literally feel like a crawdad hole. Shack with make shift tables and chairs askew like a hurricane picked up some furniture and dropped it. Lots of paper towels to use as you twist off the heads and discard in bowl. Ordered snow crab legs too, pricey for this shack @ 14.99/pd. This is Mississippi. Crawdads apparently are seasonal. Closing July 11 for the season. P.s. They were $4.99/pd. It was an experience but not likely again. I don't like splinters on my tush. read more

Omg this place is fabulous. BYOB! Kevin makes his own boil spice and everything is spiced EXACTLY RIGHT. Just the right amount of burn and really tasty. We had crawdads and shrimp and taters and corn and sausage. DO NOT MISS THE GUMBO. We ended up getting more gumbo to go after tasting it. Crawdads were sweet and succulent. I spotted this place while exiting LeFleur's Bluff State Park (awesome). Just a moderately sized house, not flashy, kind of blending into the scenery. Big sign facing the road - Crawdad Hole. Bloody hell, how can I not stop! Glad I did. It was a messy, delicious experience. I ordered a pound of crawdads with corn, sausage, and potatoes. Each extra is priced separately in case you want more sausage than corn or potatoes, or vise versa. I liked this way better than just getting whatever they throw in the bag. The crawdads were wonderfully spiced and even though the extras were not boiled with them, once they all got cut up and rolled around in all the crawdadiness, they were fabulous. They also have shrimp and crab. The woman at the window was super cute and friendly and welcomed me to Mississippi. Simple, great food and southern hospitality. Large parking lot, nice patio, and BYOB. I would have sat on the patio, but I had to go pick up my friend at work. Unfortunately, she caught me messily eating crawdads in her car. Oops. I am still upset over my experience here and want my money back. Long story short, we were told when we arrived at 7:50 pm that if we paid $3-5 we could bring in our own beer. We were also told if we ordered before the kitchen closed (@ 8:45) we could stay and finish eating. we ordered well before 8:45 and finally sat down to eat when we were told by the manager/owner that we needed to pack up and head out (around 8:40). We felt mislead and misinformed. We just spent over $400 on food and were verbally assaulted by the manager/owner. He told us that our money didn't make or break his restaurant, and had security approach us telling us we had to leave. Overall, my issue with this restaurant, they had NO issue taking our money at 7:50 so we could bring beer inside. They also had NO issue at 8:20 when we placed our order and sat down. If the restaurant had such issues with people staying past 9, they should have turned us away before we even came inside. they KNEW we had a large group, they KNEW we ordered a lot of food, and they KNEW we would likely stay past 9. We were verbally assaulted by the owner/manager, his kids, the security guard, and other staff. we felt THREATENED for our safety leaving the restaurant because not only did the manager/owner have a gun strapped to his waist, the manager's son got in one of our parties' faces threatening us over the altercation. OVER 20 MIN. This is over 20 MINUTES we stayed past the closing. the owner said EVERYONE in the area knows that they close at 9 and we should have left. we are NEW to town. I just moved to the state and was checking out the new restaurants. I'm extremely upset and would not recommend this place to anyone. This is unfortunate because I liked the food. read more

I WOULD HAVE FELT MORE RESPECTED IF I WAS SPIT ON. After being met with a warm smile from an older gentleman at the front, he assured us that we were on time and were guaranteed a place to eat as long as we ordered by 8:45. Not only did we order by then, but we had our food by then and were eating away. During that time, we had MULTIPLE employees harass us about it "being a long day" and that "we needed to wrap it up" because they were ready to go home. Not only did we order our food on time, but we spent OVER $500. Additionally, an employee that was clearly a minor (as verified by himself) came to the table and slammed down bags, and said he was ready to go home. Not only did we keep eating, but we tried to eat with a purpose and be respectful. Things quickly escalated when the manager (an older man with a pistol on his hip) came over multiple times and told us to hurry up. The older gentleman at the front even took up for us, but the other man was VERY disrespectful. From telling a woman to "shhhh" to telling us that "$500 wouldn't make or break the place" to saying "fine, if yall wanna keep my staff here after 12 hours then ya'll go ahead," I have NEVER felt apprehension in such an utterly disrespectful way. If you are thinking of eating here...go to McDonald's or Captain Ds, because they won't be as disrespectful as the manager at this restaurant was! read more

I went here the first time for a Special Olympics event a few weeks ago and was impressed by their tasty peel n eat shrimp and their support for the community. She told them her husband had and They promptly applied a significant discount! She decided to try the crab legs today. Good call! They were perfect! Each section snapped right open yielding whole sections of crabmeat. No soggy, mushy, hard to extract over cooked meat here! They applied the military discount without asking. Then, the bottom fell out and it started pouring rain. They told her to wait a second, got an umbrella and walked her out to the car! That's above and beyond service! We came here with a good sized group of people. It was super fast, friendly, and all around cool place! We're from Iowa and have had crawfish in several southern states, and these were by far the freshest and best-tasting! They were huge, well-seasoned, delicious crawfish. Some of the kids had crab legs, fantastic as well! The gentleman who served us also had great suggestions for places to go on the coast for the rest of our trip.
