I was a bit timid when I went in to try this place for the first time, but once I spoke up the lady at the counter was very kind and more than willing to help me with suggestions! I went ahead and tried the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken plate lunch, which came with a ton of bbq chicken with the most delicious sauce on it! Talk about finger-licking good!!! For our family of four I would two of their mix bbq plates that includes the chicken katsu, the bbq short ribs and the Mac salad and the loco moco. The color was this yellow to green tint that the picture didnt pick up on and I would be cautious of ordering it again if that was the normal seaweed that is used. I wish the portion sizes were slightly bigger but it was good food. I traveled a bit of distance as I saw the great reviews and I do think it was good but its definitely a place that's best if youre in the area versus traveling out to try. Good ratio between the rice and spam, and it was wrapped tightly in the seaweed. I got the combo plate, crab Rangoons, and extra Mac salad. Combo plate 10/10. The chicken was so juicy and tender, short ribs were flavorful as well as the beef. We've gotten take out from here several times since they opened and we've had only minimal issues. We recently got several of the combination meals and an order of the egg rolls. Everything was wonderful including the egg rolls. Unfortunately they have changed the size, amount per order and the fillings on the egg rolls and I was really looking forward to the pork lumpia-style they used to have! Lastly, they have a macaroni salad that is absolutely amazing! My grandmother, who passed away about 15 years ago, used to make a macaroni salad almost identical to this. I ordered here through DoorDash and the food was fresh and still hot when it arrived. We ordered a combo plate and a katsu mini meal and it was so flavorful and a good amount of food. The mini meal is a good size and I would not call it small at all. It is enough for a decent sized dinner. The katsu was crunchy and cooked just right. Don't forget to dip it in the katsu sauce they give you. It makes it way better. The combo meals come with a lot of food. It is almost like two meals in one for someone who is moderately hungry. The bbq chicken was my favorite, but all the meats are full of flavor. Each meal comes with rice, macaroni salad, and cabbage. I stopped by cause i was at the fish store, decided to give it a try it looked closed and intimidating but i went in and it was chill. I was the only customer in there the cashier was friendly. I'm familiar with Hawaiian bbq and been to most of them except this one, i ordered to go. Took a bite in the car and was so shocked it was so damn good, i legit had to turn off my car and eat it inside the restaurant lol i did not want to let it get soggy on the 33 minute drive home the cashier laughed and even offered me water. Saw this new restaurant and thought I'd try it. Never had Hawaiian food and was pleasantly surprised! They have some unique items, like a spam/rice/seaweed wrap appetizer (it was really good), as well as some traditional food, like grilled shrimp! We had the garlic shrimp and fried shrimp, and both were delicious. Their homemade sauces really kicked it up though! Their rice and cabbage, which are a mainstay of their dinner plates, were also perfectly cooked and flavorful. Their plates also come with a macaroni salad, which is not something I normally like, but it was actually a great complement to the entire meal! The portions were also extremely generous (there were at least two scoops of rice and two scoops of the mac salad) at 12 shrimp. Just ask for extra sauces, because they really add a great dimension to already great fresh food. The prices were very reasonable, especially given the portions. I believe the shrimp plates were around $12, and as I mentioned above, you get 12 shrimp! So, overall, I think this is a reasonably priced place, especially for a family. Three to four children could eat from one of the dinner meals. The decor has a fun Hawaiian vibe, and they're still putting on the finishing touches (they've only been open a week or so), and I can tell it's going to be cool. Finally, it doesn't matter how good the food, the decor or the price, if you have to deal with crabby or rude waitstaff, you won't want to bother. Luckily, Aloha Hawaiian has a lovely young waitress (Brie), who was exceptionally friendly, happy and helpful (she is part Hawaiian and was able to provide added details about the food, the culture and the restaurant). She actually had me sample some of their sauces while my take-out was being prepared and explained how they were made fresh daily and on what foods they were used. However, at the end of the day, they were so delish, we put them on everything! LOL I hope you'll give this new restaurant a try, which will be supporting the local small businesses in our community. read more
