MM3 - Chicken Katsu Lunch Combo Special
    Chee Keat F.

$6.99 for a lunch combo special, including a drink. And on weekends? In 2025? Impossible! That's even cheaper than most fast-food places. And yet you can get it here at Maika'i Hawaiian BBQ. There are 9 options for this value menu, which includes options such as fried shrimp and BBQ beef! For this lunch menu, you get a 'mini meal' which includes some sort of meat, about 1/3 cup of rice, macaroni, cabbage and a soft drink. Much more than we expect for this measly price, and enough to fill the tummy. And it was yummy to boot. We tried the BBQ beef, chicken katsu and curry chicken katsu. The last two options are essentially the same except for the sauce that they provide. This is a self-service restaurant, and the ambiance is very pleasant, with a big open space and high ceilings. Staff was friendly when we had questions about the menu. Very glad we discovered this place. We'll be back.

It's time for the conversation. Are we in a relationship? Maybe so. This food is legit! Maybe I'm a sucker for Hawaiian BBQ - okay, I am. Stopped by for some Hawaiian grub and ordered the H2 combo. The price was reasonable, the place was clean, and I was hopeful. When the food came out, it looked amazing so my anticipation needle went even higher. Then came the first bite. It legit had me at hello. The food was delicious. I was full halfway through, but I powered through. That beef. That chicken. The ribs. Can't forget about the mac. Or the rice. Oh my gosh, it was tasty. Can't wait to get back and work my way through the menu.

Ambiance: Hawaiian inspired eatery with quick counter service and lots of tables - perfect for dining onsite or ordering to go! The macaroni salad tasted just like the one I had in Hawaii. Loved the chicken katsu! Affordable pricing, quick & friendly service. They give you a little flower pin for your hair and the music is peaceful for the ambiance. Parking onsite & clean. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Hawaiian BBQ!

Woooww! I've been hesitant to try this place because of the low number of reviews but I highly recommend! I ordered the H3-BBQ and Katsu plate. It came with BBQ Chicken, BBQ Beef, and Chicken Katsu. Sides included macaroni salad, slaw (cooked cabbage), and rice. Sauces included Katsu, teriyaki, and Sriracha. I ordered it to-go and as soon as I got into my car I knew I was in for a taste of heaven. Longest ride home and I only live less than 10 minutes away. The BBQ meats were cooked to perfection, seasoned very well, and extremely tender. I'm not a of macaroni salad but this left me wanting more. The cashier told me the plate came with slaw but it was more like a stir fried cabbage. If you don't want any of the sides you can substitute it for any other side. The plate is enough for two serving or one hungry person. Don't let the small location turn you away. I'll be back!

Lumpia, quite crispy how I like it!

I happened to be in the Cypress area on a Wednesday. The memory is vivid as it was 9/11 and I had just finished a long walk. While considering tacos, this place popped up in my YELP feed so figured I check it out. Gotta give credit for those algorithms on the app, otherwise I never would've considered coming here. Rolling here about 20 minutes before closing, at first I was taking aback that there was no one in here. Walking in, the place is very clean and the staff was friendly and gave me some recommendations which were the Hawaiian BBW Mix plate and an order of lumpia (egg rolls). Since they were about to close, I ordered my food to go and they had it ready for me in less than 10 minutes. Went back home and dug in. The BBQ platter is a ton of food and the meats are tender overall. The chicken and beef are filled with flavors from the grill and juices. The short ribs can be a pain to eat with the bones attached so I had to use my fingers. Yet I found myself licking the fingers afterwards due to the sweetness and that grill taste. Meanwhile, the macaroni salad was my favorite of the sides, probably would get more of that over the rice. The lumpia is crispy and comes with roughly 6 pieces. I was in a food coma after eating all of it; thank god I did a long walk prior to that. Look forward to coming back here when I'm in the area to try their other items. Aloha!

This is a newly opened restaurant in a plaza across from another plaza! There is construction going on, so the roads may be difficult to enter and park. It is clean inside and there are plenty of tables to seat people. I ordered the BBQ and Katsu mix which came with chicken katsu, BBQ chicken, and BBQ beef! The meat was juicy and delicious! I love the macaroni salad too.

Wanted try this place for quite some time but the road construction makes it really hard to get into right now. Finally made my way in going to finally only accept cash at the time. Computers were down and the cashier assumed I knew what the menu was. When I kept staring at her with a blank star she finally said oh do you see the menu well duh. I said no macaroni salad and no cabbage. They were in all three of our meals $52 for three plates seems kinda high and everything was burnt and dry. However, the rice was OK. Probably better options out there.

    Grilled Fish plate

Forgot it was Ash Wednesday and I ordered the grilled fish plate. No utensils, soy sauce or napkins. Only tartar sauce. Portion was small not only for what I paid but for Hawaiian food in general. I'll stick to L&L or Aloha Hawaiian BBQ

I took myself here for my birthday yesterday. I got the Kalua Pork. When I say flavor, it's tender pork on top of a bed of cabbage--yummy. It's two scoops of rice and the most seasoned macaroni salad. But I forgot to take pictures of my food, which should tell you how good this dish was. Now, to be transparent about how I discovered Maika'I. I stopped by a client's house the day before, and she offered me a bite or two. Let's say after the third bite, she made me a bowl. But when I got to the Maika'i the next day, I didnt know the name. The two guys working behind the counter were so sweet to go down the menu until they landed on the Kalua Pork. As you can see from the pictures, I got caught up in how colorful and cute this place is. I truly felt like I was in Maui.

This new restaurant opened a couple of months ago and I recently visited for lunch. It's in a new space as part of a strip center at the corner of FM1960 and N. Eldridge with parking in front. Inside its a counter service eatery that has a big and airy dining room with big windows. I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken meal for $10.75 and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. It was a typical Hawaiian lunch plate with plenty of chicken, two scoops of rice and another scoop of macaroni. I thought everything tasted very good and was pleased. The meal represented very good value and I plan to return to try one of their beef and seafood protein plates. Most menu items are in the low teens $. They have a self service Pepsi machine with ice tea available too.

    H1 - Chicken Combo

I am a big fan of Hawaiian restaurants and have been trying all of them in the area. This is my favorite. My previous favorite was L&L Hawaiian BBQ in Katy, but this place is sooo much better. I got the Chicken Combo which is a combination of the Hawaiian BBQ chicken and the chicken Katsu with the side of rice and macaroni salad. It came with a refreshment as well. The chicken Katsu was crispy and FRESH! No old tasting fried chicken at this place. The Hawaii BBQ chicken was really good, I am glad I got the combo to try it out. It isn't too sweet, just right on the BBQ sauce they marinate it in. The spam musubi came with two, only 1 is pictured in my photo because I ate it so fast. It was really good! The spam is fried well (some places under fry the spam, not here, they did it right) and they have a bit of Katsu sauce inside as well, it's really flavorful. The prices are really great here. I had lots of leftovers, enough for another meal. They do offer a lunch special which is 6.99 for a "mini meal" with a drink which is an amazing deal. I did not purchase this but my friend I dined with did and it was adequate food, she was full and finished everything. The cashier was very friendly and personable. The restaurant was very clean, and so were the bathroom. We will be returning! Very happy we tried this place out

Once I tried confronting him about his behavior he literally rolled his eyes and muttered "fuck off fatass bitch" under his breath. As our first time ever being in a Jason's deli, this was a very uncomfortable and just an utterly unpleasant experience. Terrible to see that Jason's deli does not serve or even try to hire decent individuals. The guy was also noticeably under the influence of mariguana as he had reeked of it. Please do better.

Here's what I ordered: Turkey burger- 4/5 pretty good. They were able to get the turkey patty crispy on the edges and had a delicious char to it similar to a regular hamburger. The bun was toasted and didn't get soggy but was light and had a great flavor. Good amount of pickles but hardly any lettuce and the lettuce that was there was not fresh looking at all. I would have liked maybe a tomato slice on it as well. I asked for the chicken sauce in the side and really glad I did and they listened. I tried it on my finger, a little bit on the burger, and on a fry...not for me. It's like a mix of mustardy, smokey, sweet, and also tangy. Fries- 3/5 maybe I just got unlucky today or maybe from having to travel to my house but the coating on them was a little too thick and had too much resistance to them. However seasoning was good. Banana pudding - 5/5 delicious but pricey. You do get to keep the mason jar so that's cool, but you really don't get a lot for $9 Overall, it's a solid place to eat and I would recommend.
