This place has come a long way since opening and they keep getting better! Pros: The seafood and bbq taste amazing! Service is polite and helpful. Prices are reasonable for boiled seafood. The live performers are entertaining and create a nice ambiance. Cons: service is super slow all of the time. Don't expect to have a quick meal. Cajun fries (french fries with seasoning) is something else here lol so ask for french fries with seasoning on top. I still give it five stars due to the food quality and polite staff! read more

I paid my first visit today and if you don't like the food you are not a foodie. The brisket French fry's themselves was a meal for three. Good crunchy fry with way more topping on top than one would expect. I would suggest raising the price on that dish alone. Main course this day for me was the chicken sausage Gumbo which was spot on! Today I took a drive to La Porte to visit my friend Joshua Becker Wilkinsons new place Kickin' Kajun Smokehouse, he has been open only 6 days and is already the talk of the town serving up good home cooked Cajun Crawfish and Texas competition style BBQ.  BBQ has given me a chance to meet so many people and when a friend opens a place i'm proud for their success because I know what it feels to be doing what you love and putting your heart and soul to making people happy with your creations. The service was great and the employees where all excited as people began to come in for lunch right away I was welcomed and Josh showed me around telling me that he has so much more he wants to do to the place but his main focus was serving the best food that people could come and enjoy and talk about. I got to try a little of everything the menu has to offer and I must say everything was great, up first were the boudin balls and Josh put a little spin by adding cheese, next was what I thought were fries but after biting into them I found out they were fried pickles. Crawfish was also top notch and they had just enough heat and the corn and potatoes packed enough kick. I was almost full at this point when Josh came out and brought me his 3 meat platter Brisket, Ribs, and Sausage with sides of fried okra and beans. At this point I was thinking to myself how I was gonna get this all down but I dove in. First thing I tried were the ribs and after having his ribs in competitions before I wasn't disappointed and it's no wonder he has won so many awards that are all over the place in the restaurant. The sausage was also good and had the right snap when you bit into it at this point I dug into the sides and the fried okra was so good and added a southern touch and the beans were also a delight to the meal. Last thing a had was the Brisket which he calls barbacoa style it fell apart and tasted so good I just wish I had some tortillas and salsa to make tacos. When I asked him about the flavor of the brisket he let me in on a little secret that he does but if you wanna know what it is you have to go try it for yourself. Overall I think this new place is going to do just great and with the live music and  great things Josh wants to do with the place I see him being the new King of BBQ in La Porte... Went on a Sunday night. The owner was our waiter and was very friendly and attentive. The sweet tea was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. We got the fried pickles for an appetizer, both the flavor and texture were great. We shared an order of crawfish and the flavor was on point! Great flavor with not too much heat. The owner threw in a few boiled shrimp for us and those were cooked perfectly with good flavor. Overall everything we had was good. The place is normally a BBQ place, even though we didn't get any BBQ it smelled amazing and looked good on other people's plates. Good food. Server really tried hard. Ordered the shrimp boil. Everyone around us kept getting their crawfish boils but no shrimp for us. Owner came out and told us chef had gotten pepper rub in his eyes. But crawfish boils kept Vong out of the kitchen. Finally shrimp arrived but no sides. Again everyone was getting their crawfish boils and sides around us but no sides for us. 35 minutes after we ordered the sides finally arrived. Not fun eating sides by themselves as we were so hungry we had eaten the shrimp by then. No apologies from owner. I guess being from out of town he doesn't care. But I am down here every other week. Poor customer service. Waited 30+ min and our food never came while tables around us got their food. More than 1 waiter asked us what we ordered and that "it would be right out" but we suspect the young staff simply forgot. On the 3rd time being asked what we ordered, my husband asked what they showed in their system. Girl came back and read off someone else's order so we just left. Outside a heavy set fella with a beard who appeared to be the manager asked "how was everything", my husband told him "you just lost a customer" and I explained our food was never brought out . Came in to try their crawfish. I've see in other reviews that they were compared to Guidrys. We left disappointed. Crawfish didn't have flavor besides the seasoning we put on the outside. We tried an appetizer called Kickin Tailpipes, NOW that is worth coming back for. We let the waitress know about the lack of flavor and she said they were trying a new cook for the 11AM crowd but she appreciated the feed back. According to her, the guy that really knows how to cook crawfish came in at 3 or 4. May give them another try later in the season. read more

Possibly the worst brisket I've ever had. I ordered moist brisket as it's titled on the menu. I prefer the point/fattier portion of a brisket. The food came and it was clearly meat from the flat. It was dry, lacked flavor and was not what I ordered. I mentioned to the waitress that I ordered moist and she insisted that what I was served was considered "moist". It was downright horrible. I usually always place a Togo order on the phone but today I had to come in around 3 to place a to go order because the phones were down & I waited about 5 mins without anyone saying anything to me. 2 other couples came in after me & your staff said they'd be with me after they seat them & clean their tables off, but WHY are they taking care of customers who came in after me before me? Sweet baby Jesus swaddled in the manger!!! So far this the BEST crawfish I have EVER had! Cooked to perfection...I've been there 3 times in 2 weeks...guys this is the first time I eat crawfish and I don't mess my nails up and have only 1 dos XX perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned with extra melted butter on the side YuMmY!!!I don't care how much edema I wake up with the next day..it's soooo worth it! Okay now let me tell y'all about the boudin balls..they take this rice with all its goodness and ball it around cheese, yes cheese/mozzarella cheese, and deep fry them! Get there early because they only make so many. This place is a must...On the "not so great side" I tried the cheese sticks and I'm not their numero uno fan probably won't order them again...I'll have 2 orders of boudin balls instead! Well I wanted to see what all the hype was about the crawfish so I went ahead and tried it veeribg away from my normal places that I usually eat crawfish at. Well that's all it was, just hype. This is the worst crawfish I have eaten. I ordered 3lbs and only ate 1lb because it was really awful. I ordered extra Spicy and this crawfish was just nasty. It had no flavor and it was really dry. The crawfish were even mushy like they were over cooked but yet taken out of the pot to soon before that could get some kind of juice or spice. The sausage was also some of the nastiest I've ever had. The only thing worth eating was the corn and potatoes. I threw away about 2lbs because they were just awful. I will never eat there again. I should have know better because when some people think something is really better than other places that have a name for themselves then you know it's to good to be true. I'll stick to my regular places. The extra Spicy wasn't even that spicy. What a waste of money, and I mean literally a waste of money since I threw out 2lbs out of 3. People don't believe the hype and if you do you will regret wasting money here. Stay away if you are going to order crawfish. Maybe their other dishes are good, but I wouldn't know I only had the crawfish. Never ever again. read more

Kickin Kajun Smokehouse #2. If I could give more stars I would! Went for dinner and made a night of it. I'll start with the food because it's the real reason we went. The boudin ball appetizer comes with 2 giant boudin balls that are golden fried to perfection with an added bonus of cheese in the middle. Best boudin balls I've ever had. Our friends ordered the Chicken Parmesan wings and they came out dripping in buttery Parmesan goodness and were so delicious. For my entree, I ordered the steamed snow crab legs. They were fresh and seasoned with just enough spice and served with melted butter. Yum! My husband and friends each ordered one of the specialty burgers and they were piled high with brisket, jumbo shrimp, crawfish, boneless pork rib, and the cheese and sauce of your choice, all this is served with a side. The night just got better when the one man show of Seth Keiffer stepped on the stage. He sang so many classics, took requests, and is an American that loves his country and all those that have served it. He sang for 2 hours straight with no breaks, took requests and engaged the audience. It was so much fun! I highly recommend and can't wait to go back. read more

Tried this place out since I wanted a home cooked hamburger and figured, hey what could I loose. My first impression almost made me leave at first do to the staff not helping me. I was getting ready to walkout when one of the servers said I could just have a seat. I waited a few with and wasn't asked if I wanted a drink or told that someone would be with me. I was getting ready to leave again but a server named Josh asked if anyone had taken my drink order and I said no. He asked what I would like and promptly brought it to the table and then brought me a menu. From there everything turned out much better because he performed exceptionally. I ordered a burger topped with brisket and it was cooked to perfection and was more burger than I could handle. Josh continued his excellent treatment without being too bothersome but maintaining my table. So thank you Josh and thanks to the cook who prepared the burger. We paid our first visit here today. Best ribs ever and boudin balls are delicious too. Josh & Kaleb are Business partners and both stopped by our table to say hi. They are really nice guys who are clearly committed to serving high quality food. Our sweet server was really attentive and helpful. I brought half of my TipsyTexas Burger home with me as it's huge but soooo good, next time I plan to try the brisket nachos and banana pudding. Sorry but I had to update my original review. Not sure what happened but the last few times I have visited after Covid the food and facility has taken a turn for the worse. I know times have been tough but not sure why that's made the brisket tougher. The crawfish are being soaked too long which is making them tough to eat. It's very dirty outside and very warm inside. Service isn't bad but something is missing and it's a shame. They had such promise at the beginning of this year. Also, they constantly take to Facebook to defend themselves which I can only assume comes from in-restaurant complaints and it's just a bad look on them. Good restaurants listen and grow from mistakes, not take to Facebook in defense. read more

Ate here on March 29th ordered shrimp and crawfish 20 lb it was so overcooked it was mush. They forgot my shrimp my bill with tip was over 100 dollars. today is April 16th I have spoken with someone on Facebook messenger several times stating they refunded me and that they did talk to the cook and he did overcook them. I have yet to get my money back for this meal. I didn't even get to eat because I had to throw them away because the crawfish meat just deteriorated as you tried to pull it from the tail. I have never left any review for anyone, but this place and the people there deserve an awesome SHOUT OUT for the food, their hospitality and the laid back atmosphere that they have created. Came with family for a bday dinner and everything was delish. From the crawfish, to the surf 'n' turf burger that my daughter got...and and ate all of...(which she never finishes a full burger), to the Not Yo Mommas Banana Puddin. And the mushrooms in the crawfish were to die for. I could eat a whole bowl of those by themselves. I can't wait for it to get warmer so we can sit outside and play games and listen to music. Oh so many things to say about this place. What a disapointment it has been lately. When they first open I believe there were two owners, one of the owners was always on the floor visiting with customers making sure everyone was happy with their food and enjoyed the place, the Outside area was clean the flow of the restaurant was smooth and the food was amazing, Now I believe this owner maybe has sold his part or is no longer onsite but the place has gone down hill, the outside area is disgusting from what you have to walk through on the ground and what you have to smell by the area they cook crawfish. The sitting area outside is over grown and the wood picnic tables have not been clean in prob forever. Its just nasty, also the walkway to what they consider the front door has wood and tools always laid out due to work being done, the Crawfish is Horrible (no its not the suppliers fault) they tried to preboil and hope no one would notice, now I will say they did at the beginning try to fix those problems now all you get is its everyone else fault and not theirs, the servers are ran ragged with no management help what so ever, I have been in the restaurant bussiness in the past and I know there should be a manager on hand to step in when needed, oh and by the way the air conditioner is out, its hot and they dont seem to do anything to try and make it better. I really hope this place makes it its close to home and is BYOB but I cant see spending money here when I can go somewhere nicer and enjoy my visit. We went in to the La Porte location tonight with a party of 10 after trying the Bacliff location previously. Understood that it's a little more stressful with a larger party. The service from the waitstaff was great. Very attentive, and was continually asking how things were going. But, they cannot control what comes out of the kitchen. To start, they were out of brisket. When 1/2 to 3/4's of your menu involves brisket maybe you should shut down when you're out. 6 of the 10 orders were incorrect, with 2 not being able to be fixed. BBQ was great, Chicken Fried Steaks were kids meal small, not seasoned and tough. Fried Okra was undercooked by at least 1 minute and slimy. KaJin Taters were fresh out of the crawfish pot. If I wanted crawfish, I would have ordered them. 5 of the 10 meals were delivered 20 minutes after the first 5. Should have just brought them in to go boxes. Would have liked to have tried the Cajun gravy that was supposed to be served with my dinner. Asked twice, it never appeared though the regular cream gravy was good. Unfortunately the best part of our meal was when we left. We will return to the Bacliff location as the food is far superior to the La Porte location. read more

This is absolutely the WORST place I've been to. I would not feed this food to my dog. My stomach hurts from trying to digest that garbage. The atmosphere was terrible (no music, no decorations), the waitress was not at all attentive. The food tasted like they had toddlers back there experimenting with new ingredients. They also almost killed my friend by frying her fries in the same oil as shrimp (she's allergic) which should have been disclosed at the beginning of our visit if not on the menu itself. The owner was also very rude. When I gave my review on their mobile payment, he/she contacted me and told me not to come back!! That's no way to treat a paying customer. The proper response would have been "what can we do to improve your next visit?" or "what can we do to make this right?". We should not have been met with such hostility. You can bet your ass I won't be back! I was contemplating telling the guests in the restaurant to leave and not waste their money! So much for supporting local businesses during this time!
