We hired Crazy Aaron to rip out a very large area of primrose jasmine bushes that had been growing unmaintained for years prior to when we moved in. It was actually quite a large job duke to the sheer volume of bushes which took up about 900 square feet of land on the hill between our house and the street. To us, it was a bit of an eyesore because it had grown so out of hand. To even trim/maintain it, our regular lawn service company said it would cost at least a couple hundred dollars because of the sheer size of it all. Finally, we decided to just go through with doing it right and clearing out the majority of the bushes to reclaim a very large chunk of our side yard. Aaron was one of three people that we got bids from. His bid landed in the middle to do all the the bush removal and dirt/sod replacement, but I liked that he was also a licensed irrigator so I didn't have to worry about coordinating this work with separate sprinkler company for the new watering zone that would be required for the newly laid sod. Prior to laying the sod, he double-checked with us to make sure we were happy with the line of bushes that remained so that we'd be confident in the finished product. He also fixed a leak that we'd had in one of our old sprinkler zones and did a check of the sprinkler system to make sure it was in total working order. The job was completed within a week after I hired him, and I've got to say, it looks better than I envisioned it. Our neighbors have also told us how impressed they were with the work. The best part is we've got our so much more usable yard now, and we can actually see the bottom of the trunks of the oak trees that had been growing in the middle of those bushes. All in all, I have no complaints and am extremely happy we went with Crazy Aaron to do this job. read more

Crazy Aaron's was hired by my property manager to mow a little spot of grass. He sent a 2 man crew for the job. When they arrived, apparently one of them had to pee. We have 2 porta potties on the property, but instead of asking for a key he decided to just go behind a container. We are a restaurant so to have someone pee in the yard is completely disgusting and unacceptable. We are on a very busy intersection with a house behind the container. I called him, left a voice mail. I Sent him an email. He has never replied to either. I will never use him. And I will tell all my friends not to as well. read more

We used Crazy Aaron's services for many years and were very happy. He did both mowing and yard clean up and he was punctual, respectful and he and his crew worked very hard. If there was a problem (and with a large crew there can be), Aaron always bent over backwards to rectify it. Sadly he doesn't do our area anymore though we often wish he would. We hired Crazy Aaron because he gave us the best price. You know the saying you get what you paid for? Well we got exactly that. His crew did quick work of laying sod in our backyard and then they were gone. Now we had a great looking lawn, but had zero information on how to maintain it. The only communication we had was via email. We would write an email asking questions on how to maintain our yard and we were given one word responses, including the last correspondence which was "contact scotts". So if you want a quick fix, ie. a lawn that looks great until any sort of maintenance is required, this is the place for you. If you are looking more long term, don't waste your time. Pay a little more and get actual customer service. read more

On of the employees threw a bunch of trash out of the window of the company vehicle off of Westgate this week. I would be hesitant to hire someone to do my lawn when they litter in this beautiful city. If they don't care about trashing this city, I doubt they would be conscientious workers. read more

Crazy Aaron gave a written quote for lawn service. When he sent the invoice it was 30% larger than the original quote. He said it was for "extras". When I get a professional quote, I expect it to be reliable. I will use another lawn service since there are many to choose from in the 78704 area who are more reliable. read more

I used Aaron last year to install sod and do extensive landscaping/plantings and was disappointed with both the quality of his work and his customer service so I found someone else to maintain things. As things get started again this Spring I'm even more disappointed with what he did and feel compelled to write. I had a similar experience as one of the other reviews -- he was just beyond rude and inconsiderate, especially to my pets when he would leave the gate open every single time he came by and acted like it was my fault. The plants he suggested have almost all done very poorly and most are dead (he installed irrigation too which isn't sufficient for the plants.) The plants that are doing well are overgrown and not planted in a space that was appropriate for them. I don't think he knows what he's doing. I spent several thousand dollars on him and wish I had spent a couple thousand more on someone that does a good job and treats people well. His work fits completely within "you get what you pay for". There are much better alternatives in Austin. No question. read more

I don't have a contract or even use them as a regular service, only when the need arises. What I do have is a relationship and when I need them, they appear and get the job done. I was not notified ahead of time about the amount it would be. I have stopped using the service as a result of the failure to give me fair warning about how much he would charge for leaf removal. read more

We have used Crazy Aaron for over 9 years. He has cut down trees, built fences, planted trees, picked up fallen branches after a storm and a myriad of other jobs. He has always done accurate bidding and has left our property better than when he found it. He does nice things like blowing the leaves off of areas he wasn't even working at. I have an old house that needed a new yard. We had Crazy Aaron give us a bid. He was not the most expensive or the least expensive. His bid was reasonable and we really liked him so we hired him. He put in an irrigation system, new sod, beds and plants, and a small fence between our house and the street. We could not be happier! He did any amazing job. Who or what is Crazy Aaron? He's crazy good, crazy affordable, and friendly and professional to boot. I hired him to patch up a lawn (the 2009 drought just killed about a third of my lawn) and to repair our wooden fence (damaged boards) and he came in an finished both repairs in no time. Now, he did overlook repairing one board the the first time around, but after a call, he came over the very next morning and fixed the problem. We hired Aaron to take care of our yard while we were out of town for four months. Big mistake, since it included the entire summer. We lost most of our hardy, antique roses we had had for years, apparently due to the fact that he never bothered to show up to at least oversee the maintenance and watering. He told us when we hired him that he did the work himself, so we painstakingly showed him everything that needed to be done. Well, it turns out that he just sent a couple of guys over every week with extremely loud leaf blowers - something we despise, btw - who never watered anything. We heard this from our next door neighbors. Luckily, we had soaker hoses on timers for most of our front yard, which has no grass, just Asian jasmine and other easy to care for greenery. After we returned home he still had his guys coming with the blowers, even after I emailed him to stop sending them. Then he had the gall to send us a bill for those two appearances by his men, who didn't do anything because we told them to stop. We never heard from him again after we sent him a bill for our dead rose bushes. Crazy Aaron, indeed. read more

My experience was bad. He was unprofessional and actually rude. He gave us a price and the bill was larger than he quoted. If it were just his workers and not him I think we would be happier. We went into the experience needing help and walked away with a bad experience. I wouldn't recommend him to a future client. I've done business with Aaron for over 4 years. He maintains the lawn at my parents' house in return for storage space in the side yard. I've also had him trim trees and put in a flower bed at my parents' house. Most recently, I had him trim the 12 mature elm trees that surround my house. He quoted the job at $1200 for two days' work. It turned out to take 3 days--the trees were very overgrown. I told him to charge what it was worth and he billed me for $1500. Two guys, three days, thats about $31 per hour billable. If you ask me, I wouldn't climb a tree with a chain saw for $20-25 per hour. And I bill at $50 per hour for my sewing services. So I think I got a good deal, and some well trimmed trees. It's really tough to estimate how much time a project will take. I appreciate his responsiveness and dependability. I don't expect horticultural advice, I expect him to get the job done.
