Ordered the most basic thing possible, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, well done bacon, home fries and an English muffin. The eggs were murdered, like hard , dry balls covered in cheese. The bacon was greasy and you could've chipped a tooth. Home fries were obviously frozen from a bag dropped in the deep fryer-horrible. Went to Greenport for a one day trip a few days ago. Looked through a bunch of restaurants/cafes and decided on crazy beans. We were not wrong with our choice! The Hercules sandwich and lobster grilled cheese were both great and worth its value. I also ordered their marshmallow iced latte, could be a bit sweet for some but I enjoyed it. The stand-out item, when we went for breakfast, was the corned beef hash. It had a good ratio of meat-to-potato, and was prepared crisp, as requested. Other than that, everything was typical, though maybe you shouldn't go by me. The reviews, as you can see are excellent, and people line up to get in. (I'm sorry, I don't get it.) Everybody's eggs were okay, the coffee good and the service friendly and helpful. Rather than typical breakfast fare, I opted for the day's special of chicken salad on greens. Hearty breakfast options and good drinks to boot. Definitely worth a visit and you won't leave hungry. Simple foods with that home cooked feel. I had the poached eggs with toast, home fries and chicken sausage, and we also sampled the eggs and corned beef hash, omelette and french toast over the course of the weekend - the omelettes are well worth a try! Service was excellent - attentive and really friendly. Only negative comment is around the 'no outside drinks' policy - I get it but myself and a number of others were told the wait would be over 30 mins so we go grab a coffee, but no sooner have we got it than we get buzzed for our table and are then told we can't bring our coffee in. I'd suggest let the odd outside coffee slide or even better...when you let people know they have a wait, remind us they can buy a drink from you to go while we wait. In the heart of the quaint town of Greenport, Crazy Beans offers a very unique and original dining experience. The owner walks around, and is very interactive with the customers. If you are a fan of wraps, Crazy Beans is the place for you! There are not a lot to choose from, but all of them looked delicious. The wait was a little long but I think it is because they get so busy. Come early, it closes at 4pm. Breakfast/lunch only. On the menu, they share the story of the actual owner and how she built Crazy Beans. I know that isn't something to come for, but I have never seen that done before. They also have sick lattes. I got a Reeses Latte and it was gone in a second. I had the Ranch Pesto Wrap. It may sound "healthy," but it was actually so good. My fiance got the Chicken Caesar wrap and she loved it too. This is my first time in Greenport, NY and I didn't know where to go for breakfast, so I instantly went to Yelp and saw the reviews for this place and decided that we had to go and try it out. I also noticed that there were a good amount of people in this restaurant, so trying this place was a definite must. A good crowd must be a good sign, am I right?! We ended up ordering 3 lattes, which were amazing, and 4 corned beef hashes and 1 avocado wrap, and everything was good. I don't even think that there was any food left on any of the plates! The portions are small by American standards: if I'm paying $12 for a breakfast bowl at a diner, I expect it to be on the big side, and it wasn't. Usually crowded, so be prepared to wait...but no worries, they use a paging device so you can walk around the cute Greenport village, do some shopping,etc while waiting to be called. But we settled on a custom greek omelette with spinach mushrooms and feta; and one of the daily specials: a two-egg, bacon, tomato and avocado wrap with spicy hot sauce. It was so large I could only eat half. Also tried the legendary avocado fries which were "as advertised": awesome! Our service was typical of a diner/coffee shop, friendly but rushed. All the staff appeared to be in their twenties, so the place has a hip, young vibe--the kind you'd expect in Portland or Seattle. One slight negative was the bread that came with the omelet. Corn and crab chowder had good flavor but no crab that I could detect. Certainly no chunks of crab. The corn was quite plentiful. Corned beef hash was significantly more potato than corned beef. We ordered omelettes which were just okay. I like whole wheat toast, and was fine with the one slice of toast but I found it odd. Normal diners or breakfast joints serve 2 slices of toast. My hubby on the other hand likes white toast... no place we visited served white toast. Didn't live the omelette. It was kind of overdone. The hubby agreed. Big mistake arriving 9:30 am on a busy Sunday morning in Greenport. We ended up waiting approximately 45 minutes. I almost gave up and went to Bruce's across the street. Well I did not pass out and we ordered breakfast immediately and about 10 minutes later our food arrived. I think anything would have been great after waiting so long to eat but all of the items we ordered were very good. It was tough deciding what to order, so many good choices but after studying the menu for 45 minutes we all knew what we wanted. I got the neato burrito for only $7.95, 2 eggs over easy, sauteed mushrooms, carmelized onions, home fries and american cheese. This and several other items are meat free. Another yelper indicated that they have almost no vegetables. My wife had the egg white 7 grain baguette which included egg whites, tomatoes, spinach and avocado, a healthy alternative to the meaty sandwiches. My daughter had the avocado breakfast wrap. All 3 menu items were very good and filling. Excellent coffees, iced coffee and lattes served in mason jars. The lattes are popular and are more like dessert than a breakfast drink. Service was excellent. Our waitress arrived almost immediately to take our order and brought out coffee a minute later and food about 10 minutes. Considering how packed the place was they do a great job getting orders in and quickly serving hungry diners. Nice retro 1950's decor. Downside is the small size and bathroom at the back of the restaurant. There are tables right next to the bathroom door and if your unlucky some foul odors may drift over in your direction. read more

Crazy Beans is a really cute little retro spot in Greenport that's dishing up breakfast all day long and tasty lunches. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the décor, reminiscent of a 50s diner, which sets it apart from other places. We went for lunch while family was in town and we all left satisfied and happy with our choice to go here. We ended up getting their BLT (stacked with bacon and fresh LT), the lobster roll (filled to the brim with lobster salad, fries, and coleslaw), and my favorite for the day was their Cuban sandwich (pulled pork, grilled ham, fried pickles). Both the Cuban and the lobster roll were pretty big and could have been split but I wasn't mad about taking half of that glorious sandwich home with me. The prices for lunch were reasonable especially for being out East. Our server was also really nice and helpful with questions about the menu. Really don't get the hype. 45 min wait at 10 am on Saturday morning. Menu has almost no vegetables and the cook seems to be dead set on keeping obesity epidemic going. More on food: giant lobster and red pepper hash was probably 95% of potatoes with microscopic bits of lobster and pepper. Soaked in grease and burned to death. My toast was also soaked in grease and burned to death. The whole breakfast felt like munching through greasy crisps. Luckily I ordered poached eggs that are cooked in plain water. Side dish of fruit was tiny. Pancake quesadilla sounded like a very creative dish but it's huge enough for 2-3 adults. Why serve and waste so much food?? On a positive note kudos for paper straws!
