Such a cute, well designed mid century diner! I really loved the cozy aesthetic. The food is prepped and cooked in an open kitchen with counter seating, or you can sit at a table. I personally love the counter seating, but it wasn't easy to sit at the counter with a 21 month old so we had to switch to a booth table. It's elevated diner food, with a menu that's more refined than your average run of the mill diner. Came here for lunch . It's always Great food and great atmosphere and location...but.. my only complaint is the service. Been here three times and It's usually slow but not to bad But yesterday was very slow and disorganized There was Not a lot of people for lunch on a weekday when we came either and it took a while for us to get seated and waitress forgot one of my orders I had to remind them of it. We attempted two other spots for brunch before finding Nookie's on Yelp. It was a Saturday morning, and we were able to get on their waitlist; and thankfully it was only a 15-20 minute wait for a party of 2. Nookies is a tiny retro diner at Silver Sands Resort. Park out front by the hotel entrance and you'll see a small sign for the diner. The space is tinnny; expect to sit elbow-to-elbow with other diners. We did counter seating and ALL THAT BREAD looked like heaven; the ladies at the griddle are making giant french toast, hash browns, pancakes, with layers of melted butter. I needed a lighter breakfast, so I got the omelette with french cheese and a side a greens salad. I believe I saw GF bread on the counter; and they do have alt-milk. Small menu of mostly well-executed moderately unique dishes. There's a miss or two on the menu, but nothing really detracted from the meal. Nookies was a wonderful breakfast and I wish I could have stayed for lunch or tried out their dinner! Everything was so fresh and the open kitchen concept was great. Our mouths definitely watered watching the fluffiest pancakes get made, but we opted to save stomach space for the homemade donut, hashbrown with tuna and sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich. Everything was super yummy and flavorful. Although the donut pictured was the sprinkles one, we actually ended up getting the berries one, which was absolutely delightful. Stayed two nights at Silver Sands and decided to stop in for breakfast on a Friday morning. The retro beach vibes of this diner are perfectly cohesive with the rest of the motel. Our server was kind and attentive and always made sure our coffee was full. We ordered the bacon French toast (omg delicious) and eggs with hashbrowns and an English muffin. They were the perfect sweet/savory combo to share. If you're in the area its totally worth a try. It's on the smaller side so I wouldn't recommend for large groups, but it is a great intimate breakfast setting for couples and small families. read more

Incredibly re-done little restaurant at the Silver Sands. Everything we ordered was 10/10. Especially enjoyed the beats, sourdough and the brothy beans fish dish. Our bartender recommended blood orange cosmos which were a hit. Overall really enjoyed the experience and will be back! read more

I took a day trip out east yesterday and stopped at the Silver Sands Motel. This newly renovated 50's-style seaside motel and beach bungalow property on the North Fork of Long Island has a modern retro chic beach vibe and is a real gem! The vibrant turquoise, coral, and pink hues, old fashioned beach umbrellas, and retro pseudo art deco beach decor are absolutely charming. We were completely captived and decided to eat brunch at their retro-like diner/restaurant, Nookies, nestled against their sandy beach that faces Shelter Island. The food was tasty and the staff was very attentive. The manager, Kimberly, was super friendly and accommodating, making our experience that much more special. I am a life long Greenporter with a lot of suspicion for the new restaurants that always seem to charge a ton and never really nail it. We just had dinner at Nookies and it was one of the best meals I've ever had- better than restaurants in NYC and beyond. We had a truly amazing salad, stunning oysters, a beautiful pasta and ridiculously good chicken livers and porchetta. We came in for a snack and just kept ordering more bc it was so good. The quality of the meat and veggies was the best of the North Fork. The prices, for the quality of this food, we're fine. Our ample compliments to the chef. We will be back. read more
