SEVERE FOOD POISONING, from eating their Mongolian beef and broccoli. The meat was bad and not cooked properly; the restaurant had a strange smell to it as well. Since I was already there, I thought I would try it, since I had put the order in, even though I had a strong instinct to leave. SEVERE FOOD POISONING, I would not recommend this place; it has an unsanitary feel to the establishment. Saw the reviews for this place and decided to give it a try. It's great! We ordered Kung Pao chicken, pork with garlic sauce, orange chicken and combo lo mein. I thinks it's the best orange chicken I've had in New Orleans. The pork was very flavorful and the king pao had lots of veggies. Nothing was over sauced and the veggies were not over cooked like a lot of places do. The lo mein noodles were a little over but it had great flavor. This little place is a keeper!! I go here about once a week. I think the price is fair and the couple things that I normally get are delicious. I usually call it in for lunch, they get a nice lunch rush going almost every day. My go order is always the General Tso and I like to add a wonton soup, I also get the large wonton egg drop and Rangoons when I feel like spending a couple more bucks. Hong Kong Kitchen is a good, fast, Chinese food spot. I've had Hong Kong Kitchen about 4 times so far, since writing this, and it hasn't disappointed me. The service is fast, as soon as you come in you are acknowledged/greeted and out the door within a second if your order is ready. I've literally ordered food while on the way there and it was ready, HOT, when I got there in about 10 minutes or so. I was skeptical of the rice because I normally don't like the yellow looking fried rice, but it's good!!! I get it all the time! I don't think the place is a "dine in" place I don't remember if there were any tables or not maybe 2-4 if there are. They're on Door Dash for convenience but you can also go in to order or pickup. Omg, why did you Yelpers do this to me? The ratings proved to be spot on. This place has some seriously delicious food, seasoned lightly and not too heavy on the MSG. As we sat in our truck and waited for our order, there was a constant revolving door of customers. Now I see why. When we got our food, the bag was super heavy and the servings were plenteous. That made me happy because I love to feel my money's worth lol. So we ordered house fried rice, Mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken, chicken lo mein and two orders of chicken wings. Obviously this was my cheat day. Okay more like my splurge day LOL!! In all fairness, we did not eat all of this food in one setting and in fact, two days later, we still hadn't eaten it all. I forgot to take pics but I'll add some next time. Yes, there will be a next time for sure. The only bittersweet part of my review is that I live too far to be a regular. I went back to this restaurant about a month ago to try another dish. I believe it was a Friday evening. I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp meal which I very rarely order. The food tasted so much better this visit. It was actually very good. Maybe there was a different chef. I was vacationing in New Orleans and stopped at this place around 9PM. The young guy working the window was awesome. He was very nice and explained the menu. The food was fantastic and they give you big portions. I recommend their sesame chicken. Inside is small and has 4 tables. We were able to dine in and the restaurant was clean. My go-to spot for chinese if my family wants it for dinner! Ordered from here a handful of times and they are always well prepared and flavorful. Dining area is small with 3 tables, but I rarely see anybody sit and eat, but i'm sure people sit and eat for lunch time. Service is always friendly and fast which somebody is always at the front. For parties, I usually get the party tray of lo mein which I find to be the most flavorful out of other chinese restaurants i've been to. Definitely recommend this spot if you are near by and want chinese food! read more

To go service was fast and friendly! I got the General chicken lunch special with shrimp fried rice. Large portion for lunch and perfect amount of spice on the chicken! There were also lots of large shrimp in the rice. And the crab rangoons were stuffed full and crispy and delicious. The sweet and sour dipping sauce was a perfect pairing. After 3 months..we came back to dine out and I dont think it's because we missed them. But WAO...the sauces were thicker, the beer extra tender and the hot drop soup ..extra delicious. Best sesame chicken, for sure. Combo plates are generous potions and come with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Pan-fried Dumplings are made in house and have sweet, tangy sauce, not plain soy sauce. Crab Rangoon which seems standard triangle shaped , as good as anywhere. read more

Hole in the wall place with very good standard Chinese fair. Its my kiddos favorite lomein & orange chicken. And probably the best lomein Ive had. The fried rice on the other hand none of us liked and lacks flavor. But we've tried a few other dishes and all were super delicious. We really enjoyed our dinner tonight!!!! We haven't been able to find a GOOD Chinese restaurant (on the East or West Bank of the river) in a long time, but that may have just changed..... There was more than enough food remaining for us to have (and enjoy) lunch tomorrow We ordered the No. 2 Special (for 4 people). Our order consisted of a quart of Hot and Sour Soup, a quart of Shrimp Fried Rice, 3 entrees: Kung Pao Chicken, General Tso's Chicken and Shrimp with Cashew Nuts. To that we added an order of Shrimp Mai Fun Noodles and Fried Sweet Donuts for dessert. Overall, it was a very nice dinner! I was also really impressed with the kindness of the lady who took my order. She was very sweet and helpful, both on the phone and in person. There were 3 men preparing the food in the back and they appeared to be working really hard! I got the lunch special sesame chicken that comes with fried rice and egg roll. Really good deal for $5.99. Good portion and good taste. The fried rice is superb. In these trying times of social distancing, there exists a beacon of cuisine that has stood the test of time. Hong Kong Kitchen was the first restaurant I ate from when moved here for residency at the young age of 26. Now many eons later I'm almost 30 and this restaurant still stands providing the masses with virus-free food. Their restaurant is currently takeout only and the glass window at the counter opens only enough to pass words, money, and food. It's a little hard to find since it's tucked away behind a Shell gas station but it's worth the journey. I got the orange chicken combo and the large beef lo mein for $17.47. They have a whole bunch of utensils and sauces available but I didn't need any of that. I got these two massive containers of food stuffed to the brim, a pork egg roll, and two fortune cookies. The orange chicken comes with pork fried rice and you can taste the real orange that they use in the cooking. I strongly disagree with the menu which says the orange chicken is spicy but that's ok I don't really expect it to be spicy. The fried rice isn't going to win any awards but there's a good mix of quality ingredients. The beef lo mein is a treasure, I love the thick saucy noodles. The egg roll was similar to the fried rice, nothing special, but a nice addition. They didn't even package the egg roll in the orange chicken combo container, they put it in a separate wrapper so that they could make sure your container is full of orange chicken. All in all, I ate about a third of each container, enjoyed it, and was stuffed. This will last me a couple days and greatly contribute to me not getting coronavirus. I'm really surprised this Yelp page only has about 80 something reviews. It's truly a hidden gem for solid, plentiful, cheap Chinese food. read more

Halfway through my meal I felt compelled to write a review. The food was definitely 5 star takeout. I ordered general Tso chicken, it came with fried rice and an egg roll for $8.25; I upgraded to shrimp fried rice for an additional $1.10. The food was very fresh and had a good flavor. The general tso chicken wasn't spicy at all, so if you like spicy you may want to add some spice to it. The order was enough for 2 servings. I can't comment on the inside of the building; due to Covid you cannot enter the restaurant instead you walk up to the window and pick up your order. I will be returning in the future when I want some Chinese food and I would recommend this place to others. read more
