Next to Stephen Anthony's, I was completely surprised when I entered this restaurant. It's bigger than I thought given the modest frontage with a well done lighted interior and Japanese decor. It even has a view of the lake. The menu offers something for everyone with sushi, tempura, teriyaki, and a few Chinese dishes. Excellent food. I had a great first visit to Crazy Stone. I'm a vegetarian so my priorities are a little different than the average person going out for sushi. The menu is very vegetarian conscious. The vegetarian menu items are plentiful and they are clearly labeled. Everything we ordered was delicious. The futomaki roll, inari sushi, sweet potato roll and veggie tempura rolls were the highlights. The service was great (even though there were only two waitresses working on a busy Saturday night), and the decor is pleasing and comfortable. The food is excellent. The seafood is fresh. I especially enjoyed the Kani (crab) salad, tuna bowl which was tuna wrapped around spicy tuna topped with seaweed salad and a delicious sauce. Here from California and decided to look for a sushi type restaurant for dinner tonight. Found Crazy Stone right next to the Wayside Country Store and had a wonderful time. We were greeted and seated right away. Menu carries a variety of delicious options. Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious and served quickly. We also ordered a bottle of wine which really put a nice spin on the evening. Just an all around great experience. Priced very reasonable for the quality and freshness you can taste. The news of a new Sushi place near Sudbury, MA spread last Fall. I think many will see this restaurant as a new hope or breath of fresh air from the sad, depressing hole that is Fugakyu Cafe... (another review for another time). My girlfriend took us to this restaurant for Thursday lunch. The location is by the water on Hager Pond, parking is easy, and it's a cute plaza with great views- both inside and outside the restaurant. My initial impression was a bit sketchy. The front door opens to a landing area which is finished but not inviting. Upon opening the second door into the actual restaurant itself, that all changed. Beautiful bright open concept with views of the pond, elegant bar, tables, with thematic decorations scattered throughout. The centerpiece: a faux cherry blossom tree garden. Cute. What really drew me in were their daily specials. Daily mini sushi boats at reasonable prices. We ended up getting a tuna roll, cucumber avocado roll, and 2 stone plates- chicken and steak. All of the food was plated and presented BEAUTIFULLY with one exception. The meat served on the stone does not come pre cut. Instead the server comes with the meat on a hot sizzling stone and offers to cut it FOR you. It becomes uncomfortable for everyone to have the server lean over the table and completely interrupt or disconnect conversation of the guests while struggling to cut a large piece of steak or chicken while its cooking on a hot stone. If the server offers to cut it, why not have it cut BEFORE it comes out? This really pissed me off. The serving of the main entree stone dish felt unplanned and disorganized- truly living up to the name "Crazy Stone." Chef- please rethink this strategy. Otherwise, the flavor of the chicken was absolutely on point. Sushi simple, delicious, & on point. Veggies & Rice aromatic, robust flavors. The steak was under-seasoned and I ended up eating my girlfriend's chicken. Besides the stone dish issue the service was great- attentive, friendly and not overbearing. Am curious to see how they may handle rush hour. I will come again hopefully to see a few improvements- this place has a lot of potential! read more

Some of the best sushi I've ever had. In town for a sports event and we wanted a good lunch before heading back on the road. It's pretty unassuming from the outside but the interior is fantastic. There is a nice cherry tree and rock garden along with some lake views from the back. The sushi is also fantastic and fresh. I got the okay roll, which was more then ok, and the perfect match roll which was also awesome. My dad got the teriyaki salmon and he said that was awesome too. What a special find. Friendly, attentive staff, fresh, excellent food, fair pricing. The hot stone is very unique and perfect for anyone picky about how their food is cooked. I am a slow, leisurely eater and the stone is perfect for warming up my meal as I move along. I have had both the steak and seafood hot stone meals. The seafood (scallops and shrimp) was exceptionally fresh and the steak was very tender. Definitely give this place a visit. read more

Went to Crazy Stone for lunch today with my daughter. I got a tuna roll and a yellowtail and scallion roll, my daughter got a salmon roll and a tuna/avocado roll. All were very good. Water view dining room that is bright and open adds a hard to find touch in the Marlboro area. No liquor license but if they made this a BYOB establishment it would be great for business. read more

So excited to have a new sushi place in town! Service was great and the food was even better! The place is decorated tastefully and not overdone like most Japanese restaurants. I got the chicken tempura as an app - cooked to perfection. The sushi/sashimi sampler was arranged beautifully and each piece was better than the last. While looking for a sushi restaurant to take my wife to for her birthday (sushi is her favorite food) other than the ones we always go to, I found the listing for Crazy Stone with some fabulous reviews. What really caught our attention were the unique rolls the chef has created. We decided to give it a try. What an experience! The place is very clean, and pleasantly decorated. We had a table overlooking the pond in back of the place which was nice. After looking through their amazing menu, we opted for some sushi and some rolls. The sushi was excellent...thick pieces that were definitely fresh and were very firm. The rolls were incredible. Best was the Tuna Lover's which actually has no rice, but is served in small bowls. Could have eaten several orders of this. We also had the Green River Roll, the Out of Control Roll and the Patriots Roll. All were amazing and different than anything we have had elsewhere. To top it off, when we told our waitress (who was wonderful) that it was my wife's birthday, she said she would bring out something. I thought she said "cake". We expected a sliver of cake or something.....but she brought out a "tempura banana roll" covered in whipped cream, sprinkles and chocolate drizzle. It was fabulous!! What a way to cap off an amazing dinner. Cannot recommend this enough to everyone looking for a unique and delicious sushi dinner. They also specialize in beef cooked on a hot stone at your table (hence the name of the place), all kinds of tempura, luncheon specials, etc. An amazing find....can't wait to go back read more
