Delighful and funny is not how I would normally describe mechanic guys but aside from being that these guys are really terrific. Our 11 year old truck was having some overdrive difficulties and we were fearing the worst with the transmission...I took it to one place and they were great wont mention who but gave us a quote between $750-$2800 the $750 was just to drop the pan and take a look and that price would go toward to total fix of the trannie. They thought it would be at least a soft rebuild of the trannie...my 4th gear was non existent...ouch! I decided to get a second opinion and had a referral from a neighbor too. Took the truck to CRC and Craig had his guy drive it and said its likely the snap ring (which is what I was hoping after trying to diagnose the problem myself) but said they would call me if it looked like there were any other shenanigans going on in there after they dropped the pan. He quoted me a much fairer price and I went for it...left them the car for the day. I was sweating bullets and then I checked in and they were just finishing up said the truck would be ready about 3:30 I drove out of there having the problem fixed and not being taken advantage of. Amazing!!! Good guys and my #1 go to for trannie issues. I will recommend these guys to everyone who needs it. read more

Let my preface this by saying that I haven't actually used CRC's services directly; to put it simply they haven't worked on any of my cars, period. That said I just wanted to take a moment to thank Craig for sharing his Sage wisdom with me. I have a beater that's on its last legs and it's acting up, another shop suggested I speak to transmission guru Craig over at CRC and he was happy enough to spend the better part of 15 minutes giving me tips and some things I might try to eek out a little more life from this dying machine. He didn't make any money off of me, in fact he lost money by letting me tie him up on the phone. Craig is a transmission guru. Years back I had a problem with my Pathfinder, I took it to Paul's transmission and those scoundrels said it was toast and I would have to replace it, for $2700. I called Craig looking for a second opinion, he figured out over the phone that the filter was clogged, I checked it, he was right. I changed it and saved $2700. I had it serviced by EZ Lube twice, both times they swore they changed the filter, they didn't and it almost destroyed it. I'll NEVER go back to those crooks again for anything. Craig is one of the best. Brought my car in on Monday before July 4th and on July 3rd he had it done. I was grateful for the quick service seeing it was a week before the 4th. Small shop. Very trustworthy is the feel I got from the place. Didn't try to sell me anything extra, just tried to help me with my transmission problem and do it right. They gave me some options after they did some extra research on my quirky transmission problem. They didn't pressure me to buy this or that. Ford was trying to screw me and Todd the owner was telling me how to try and get my issue resolved so that it doesn't cost me any money. That's unusual when a potential client who's trying to give you business gets told how to go somewhere else. That right away made me want to do business with these guys. I show up, they threw my truck on the rack, immediately told me what the problem was and told me a basic price. (It needed to be confirmed). They said they'd call me the next day and tell me what it was, which they did AND beat Fords price, with Fords part, by $300. This appears to be a solid company built on integrity. I will never go back to Ford for transmission problems and neither should you with these guys around. read more

I can't recommend CRC more highly. Brought my Mustang in for a throwout bearing replacement and clutch job. Craig quoted me a price that was more than reasonable and got to work immediately. I figured I'd be without my car for at least a week. Much to my delight, he called me two days later with the car complete. When I came in to pick up the car, the bill was significantly lower than the price of the estimate. WOW! When does that ever happen? Steve rebuilt the tranny in my 95 Impala SS and overall was a great experience. Although pricey for a bench rebuild, I feel comfortable recommending them as experts at domestic transmissions. The people that have given Craig glowing reviews either work there or they are friends of his. I'm mechanical, if you describe a repair to me I know what to expect, I got anything but what was described. Craig was not at all honest with me and then charged me to put a seal in that, as it turned out, should have been replaced with the clutch. Up front Craig said that they replaced all, push in seals, my vehicle leaked when I got it back and he said it was not a push in seal. It was, he then said they only inspect seals when the truth came out after I paid him to fix his mistake. My advice to anyone that goes to CRC is, "get it in writing". read more

Car repair shops sometimes have a bad rap, so when you find an honest one that also has a reputation for excellent work, you stick with it. The transmission on my 2009 Lexus seemed to be slipping two weeks ago, and lights on the dash came on with two icons: 1. slippage and 2. get it to a shop ASAP. I called my mechanic of 20 years to see if he could handle this and he said absolutely not. It had to be done by a transmission shop. He highly recommended CRC Transmissions in Thousand Oaks. I arranged for my car to be towed. It was about 30 miles from the shop, so I had to wait for Lexus to tow it for free instead of AAA, where I don't have extended towing. My car arrived after-hours but Craig, of CRC, said no problem, just put the keys through the slot and he'd call me with his diagnosis in the morning. The next morning Craig called to tell me nothing came up on his diagnostic machine, even after driving it around for 20 minutes. Not convinced, I ask him to drive it around some more, possibly in the hills. I didn't want to get stuck on Kanan Road in the heat. One of his guys drove it around during lunch and up and down hills for about 45 minutes. Still no lights came up on my dash nor did transmission failure registered on the machine. He explained how my computer could have conveyed some wrong info that showed up on my dash. I thanked him, said I'd be in to pick it up and asked how much I owed him for the hour+ he and his guys had spent working on my seemingly healthy car. He said no charge. He hadn't found anything wrong and would therefore not charge me anything. What? He could have easily charged me $50-100 and I wouldn't have batted an eye. When and if I need tranny help in the future, you can be sure I'll be headed here. I'm actually not that surprised. I knew they had to be good if my long-time mechanic swore by them. I had also talked to Todd in my calls to the shop and he was as friendly and as helpful as Craig had been. If you're looking for an honest operation, this is the place. read more

I brought my car in to have my transmission serviced. I thought something was going out because it was very sluggish when shifting .MY transmission just needed to have the fluids changed and some adjustments made. Being a woman I thought i would be taken advantage of. On the contrary, I had never been treated better with such honestly. Took my Jeep CRC because my 3-4 gear was sticking per engine light code, they told me it was a valve body so they replaced it for $900. After getting it back 2 days later i had the same issue I was having before. They just told me to shut off the engine to reset the computer in the tranny. It ran fine for a couple of days then the issue came back, I had to do this 4 times so far. Engine light came back today I took it to Leon's transmission they said no way its the valve-body since the engine light code read issues w/ 4th gear in the tranny! so it wasn't the valve-body so I went back to CRC long story short, they were not willing to give me my money back or partial and the shop guy who works on the tranny said I told him i took it to another transmission shop and I told him it was the valve body...Funny thing i never took it to another tranny place BEFORE i took it to CRC, at that point i knew they were full of it so I left and now taking my car who knows how to diagnosis the issue which is now Leon's. read more
