You know something must be slightly askew when the tea shop next door is drawing all the local high schoolers and there is nary a soul in this wide-open ice cream shop. The weather was warm even, so it made me wonder if today's youth is more savvy about not eating ice cream after school and spoiling their appetite for dinner. Or maybe they know that the ice cream sucks. It didn't, suck that is, but it wasn't incredible either. I just felt like having something sweet after having the carb-heavy Fettuccine Wild Boar at Doppio Zero around the corner on Wolfe Road. This appeared to fit the bill. I know CREAM from their location in the Mission up in the city, and that's a lively place where hipsters dive into Chipotle-style ice cream sandwiches that are too big to eat without a spoon and a cup. This was quite the opposite, though their menu is full of decadent items like a Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich or a Cream Taco with three scoops of ice cream and two toppings. I decided to skip the waffles and the cookies and go for straight-up ice cream to see if it stands up on its own merit. I went for a Two Scoop Cup for $3.50. That struck me as a reasonable price, so it was a scoop of Rocky Road and a scoop of Coconut squeezed tightly into that cup (photo: http://bit.ly/2ophGpD). Maybe it was just because the ice cream was frozen hard, but it was challenging to enjoy without breaking a plastic spoon first. GREAT late night hang out. Or just hanging out in general. Lots of options for not only ice cream sandwiches, but drinks and shakes as well. They're ice cream flavors are pretty ordinary, but not bad. The point is more about the sheer amount of customization.I love the sheer amount of baked goods they have available for you to make into a sandwich, including the latest donuts/croissant thing, brownies, churros, and waffles. Though, I kind of mourn the lack of fruit options. I had a green tea ice cream waffle sandwich covered in chocolate chips. All the baked goods are freshly baked, and I thought it was worth the wait. The store kind of has two states of being. Extremely full, or very empty due to students kind of piling into the tea place next door (which has drink and dessert options). Actually, the first time my friend and I went over to the area, we were originally going to Cream but ended up hanging out in said tea shop. But I would recommend going there after to pick up dessert with a group of friends. On this extremely warm day, we decided to head to Cream to try their ice cream. This is the first time that I've been to this location. It's set along Stevens Creek Blvd near Miller, within walking distance to Vallco. We quickly found a spot in the adjacent parking lot. When we walked to the store, I noticed that it was a well lit, clean and extremely friendly store. The two employees were polite and smiled the entire time we were there. For three cones and two toppings, we paid $7.97. A relative treat compared to some other places. There were a couple of tables and a bench outside. They do not have indoor seating. My only issue is that they only offer one size for their scoops. With little kids, they can only eat so much before it is tossed, or it melts faster than they can eat it. I'd like to see a smaller size that is offered. The employee did say she could scoop less but still had to charge me the regular size scoop. She did offer us a tray (container) to help with the dripping. But a kid's size (priced) scoop would be nice too. Overall, we did enjoy our ice cream very much. We will be back. read more

I went back to CREAM a few days ago because it's close to my workplace and I was having a major milkshake craving. I was there early in the afternoon and it was pretty empty. The cashier took my order promptly and made the milkshake. I got the birthday cake ice cream with a brownie mixed in. The brownie or cookie mix in option is a dollar extra. The milkshake was good with the thickness of the drink sufficient and the brownie blended in well. The whipped cream and cherry on top was nice and the birthday cake ice cream was decent. Opening day and giving out free ice cream... Had to go. Rommates got their usual, chocolate chip cookie, snickerdoodle and cookies and cream. Per usually loved it. I got Green tea ice cream with snickerdoodle and white chocolate macadamia cookies. Only because I haven't seen green tea at any other location before. The green tea is subtle in the ice cream. Not as strong of a tea taste as I expected, but very soft and refreshing. Good for a summer afternoon. Snickerdoodle is always good. This was my first time trying white chocolate macadamia; it was okay. It's more like a brown butter cookie with a few nuts and chocolate bits thrown in. (it could definitely use more nuts.) Overall, staff was kind. Line moved somewhat slow, but on opening day and considering it was free... I can't complain. If this one runs anything like the others, I'm sure it will be amazing. CREAM has a decent selection of ice creams, nothing too crazy or fancy, but they do have a lot of "pun"-ny names ;) They also have a pretty good selection of cookies with which to make a ice cream cookie sandwich, though you can always opt for the traditional cone or cup instead. Ask for a sample if you'd like to try the ice cream before deciding. They also have the "do-sant" (donut + croissant), though I wasn't sure how that differed from a "cronut"? They also have other options such as milkshakes, malts, ice cream waffle/taco thingy, espresso drinks and regular pints of ice cream. We opted for the usual ice cream sandwich, where you can mix & match 2 cookies with a scoop of ice cream for $3.99. Add optional toppings for 75c each. The cookies were warm (kept heated above the oven) when we received our ice cream sandwiches, which made the ice cream melt faster, so make sure you keep up before it becomes a mess! :P Come early to avoid any crowds and overall, it's a great addition to all the selection of new stores in and around Main St. It's super popular in the summer (though with our weather, it's probably popular year-round), so be prepared for a line sometimes! read more

TL;DR Lorena gave our party lots of hospitality, and the best flavor we tried tonight was chocolate (IMHO). Lorena provided excellent service tonight. Our party of 8 came in seeking a sugar rush. We tried many different flavors before deciding on a scoop. I tried the green tea (too mild), very strawberry (too sweet), pistachio (too melty), salted caramel (not bad), blueberry cheesecake (too sweet), churro (not meant to be ice cream), and some others (not memorable). It seems to me that the only correct choice is Chocoholic because it's got a richness that adds extra dimensions to the flavor. The chocolate retains coldness better and doesn't melt as quickly as the others. Of course, I didn't try ALL the flavors, but you can't go wrong with chocolate. It wasn't too sweet like milk chocolate and wasn't too bitter like 90% cocoa noir, but just right in between, balanced between sweet and bitter. My visit at Cream today blew my mind. The associate Ivan had such great customer service that I had to let everyone know. He had patience and had great attitude that made this visit unforgettable. He offered me to sample any flavor of ice cream I wanted and smiled the whole time. Unlike other associates at busy dessert stores, he cares about what he was doing and didn't just "push" me out the door to get me out of his hair. Hello, Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place. As you can see from the photographs I have attached, my waffle was burnt and ice cream was too less for a place called "CREAM". Server (probably the owner) was busy training a new employee which was the cause of his lack of attention to our order. We finished the ice cream before we could finish the cookie/waffle. All this while there we only two customers at the store. Furthermore, the other server (a kind girl) who served another customer was generous with the ice cream she added to their order. While paying, we wanted to check in on yelp to claim the free topping, in spite of mentioning it, the server was quick at billing our order which meant we ended up paying for the topping we could have for free. I will give them points for their creative menu and the fact that they greet you when you enter and exit the store but my experience with the dessert I ordered was as burnt as the waffle. The cookie itself didn't seem fresh but with the ice cream it did taste nice. All in all its a place you can easily strike off of your bucket list without necessarily wasting your money on. My original plan of Postmating CREAM from the Palo Alto location was foiled due to the location undergoing some minor construction and they couldn't physically make ice cream sandwiches during that time. I went into a baby panic attack as I didn't have a backup plan so I hopped on Yelp to see which other CREAM locations I can go to & Cupertino was my next best option. I called this location and Mike (who's amazing BTW) picked up with a cheerful, "CREAM Cupertino, my name is Mike, how may I help you?" I kinda panicked and told him how I needed 15 ice cream sandwiches & a dozen cookies pronto but also needed to be reassured that it would be able to survive a 20 minute drive back to Palo Alto (thank god it was not rush hour). Mike was more than happy to accommodate, he let me know that he was the only person working at the moment but he would be able to hop on my order ASAP. Mike delivered and went above and beyond! He made me a bunch of sandwiches, varying from snickerdoodle and strawberry ice cream to sugar cookies with cookies and cream ice cream & originals like chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream. He was sooo fast that he actually finished the sandwiches long before I arrived. Upon my arrival, he cheerfully said to me "I was waiting for you!" and he went straight to the back to grab the sandwiches he had in the freezer and packed them nicely for me while keeping a great conversation with me. Mike is the epiphany of your ideal employee and ideal customer service you'd expect from any establishment. He really made my day and saved my butt. I called him back on my drive back to Palo Alto because I misplaced my receipt and he was more than happy to email me a copy. Such an amazing guy who did not let out the smallest sigh at my last minute and frantic order. Great ice cream chain in the bay area. They are known for their ice cream sandwiches but I'm more of a normal cone kind of person. That being said, their ice cream is delicious. You would think that with all the places you can get ice cream in the Bay Area that I would be tired of it. But, I'm still not. You have your likes of Bi-Rite, Smitten, Mitchell's, and Marianne's. I went to the one in Berkeley (went to Koja Kitchen and was craving something sweet). The service there sucked, but the ice cream there was good. Thankfully, the same great quality was here, but the service was exponentially better! The gals who were working there the day I went were extremely friendly. Even going to the back and looking on the list of ingredients for the oatmeal raisin cookie if there were nuts. Some people would just say, "I don't know." Anyway, I got snickerdoodle cookies with vanilla ice cream for my daughter and white chocolate chip and sugar cookies for mine with cookies and cream ice cream. Like I said, they were all delicious. I will say, however, that sometimes if the ice cream is too hard, it is a little hard to eat. The cookies are a little thin to handle the thick ice cream if you bite into it.
