Went here last night for the first time after having dinner next door at Blaze. The atmosphere is really cool and watching them apply the nitrogen to make your ice cream was pretty fun. The ice cream itself was very good, its' extremely creamy and seems more dense too me than other ice creams I've had. I went for the Elemint shake and my fiancee had a single scoop of the cookie butter ice cream. All in all the atmosphere and the ice cream itself was very good. Now a few small downsides that prevented me from giving a higher rating. -The building itself is pretty small inside, we were really crowded in there between the line to order and the people waiting for their ice cream standing space was pretty scarce. -The wait time was pretty rough, I think we ended up waiting close to 15 minutes or more for the ice cream and that's pretty painful for dessert even though it's made to order. -The prices are pretty damn high, it's like you're paying more for the experience and the novelty than you are the actual ice cream because I could go get the largest size at Cold Stone that has more toppings on it and it's still a few bucks cheaper. Overall a good experience once but unsure if I'll go back anytime soon. read more

I've had a lot of bad ice cream in my lifetime. And by bad, I mean icy, artificial tasting,poor quality & ingredients. I experienced none of these issues at Creamistry. My husband & I arrived around 2:30 - 3 pm and there was absolutely no line. It was the perfect timing. The workers greeted us and explained the steps to us as this was our first time here. We've eaten at other similar places out of town so we were familiar with the process. Call me boring but I love vanilla with almonds. That's it, plain and simple. And that is exactly what I ordered. The regular size was plenty of ice cream. I almost couldn't finish. The texture was everything that I'd want in ice cream. The vanilla flavor was rich, but not too sweet. I don't feel like the price is too steep. Although if you add a ton of add ins it could rack up the price easily since it is $1 per item. If you want quality ice cream made fresh, you should definitely check this place out. I know I'll be visiting a lot more often to try other flavors. read more

Creamistry is a fun place to grab an ice cream with friends. And it's located in one of the best dining-centric shopping centers in town, so it's definitely the dessert spot if you're eating off of California and the 99. The menu here is standard fare for an ice cream shop, but it's the customization that's most impressive with thousands of combinations of flavors and toppings possible. But the main draw is the nitrogen ice cream spectacle itself. I'm normally not big into gimmicks, but the liquid nitrogen works: the subzero temperatures causes the ice cream to solidify into a compact consistency with firm texture which imparts a more icy flavor rather than a creamy one - a reprieve from the Bakersfield heat. I order the Nitrodole which - unsurprisingly - tastes like a Dole Whip from Disneyland. I actually prefer it over the soft-serve pineapple treat from Disneyland because the Nitrodole is served much colder and is more refreshing. Creamistry can be a bit pricey with add-ons, however. But, the quality is good, and the store is always pristine. I'll have to try their shakes next time. read more

Pros: awesome show to watch em make it, vegan options, open good hours, ample parking, easy to find, clean, greeted on entering Cons: the hot fudge was just chocolate syrup, toppings are sparse and high priced, the ice cream sucked, the waffle cone was gross, chain store I just threw out a $15 dollar ice cream because it was so gross. My kid liked her birthday cake with cheescake toping but it was just vanilla sprinkles with like 4 little cheesecake bites. That single scoop cost me $9 bucks sans tax. She is only 10 so the bar for flavor is pretty low when it comes to sugar. I got coconut peanut butter ice cream. It just tasted like sugared coconut. Not any indication of peanut butter. I paid an extra buck for vegan flavor and it was terrible. Asked for some hot fudge and that is a chocolate syrup drizzle that is also extra. The waffle cone was so nasty. I hate wasting money but splurge ever so often and get kids rosemarys or moo creamery. I feel like the small business gods are punishing me. This was the most expensive and worst ice cream I have ever eaten. It was cool to watch the cloud of smoke it is not worth it. Go to a small shop and stay away from this place. 28 dollars for 2 scoops of ice cream. I can buy my whole family a legit meal for 30 bucks. As soon as we left we drove through taco bell because everyone was hungry. I gave them a few stars because staff was nice and the poor guys are working on black friday. Why is this place rated under 4 stars on Yelp?! My eyes lit up as soon as we walked inside. I wanted everything... the limited special ice cream pies, the affogato, the Captain's Breakfast creation....literally everything. My boyfriend ordered the ice cream apple pie so that checked one item off my list. I wanted something unique so I decided to create my own, which turned out to be something I could probably order at other places. I picked the cookie butter flavor with premium base, mixed in oreos, and topped with bananas and mochi, in a waffle cone bowl. There were just so many darn options I was so lost and after we sat down, I looked at the menu and came up with at least 3 other better combos. We'll have to come back so I can try the French Toast Crunch ice cream...or the Thai Tea... or the Matcha.... But anyway, my order today was really good. It's crazy how thick the ice cream gets when it's made nitrogen-style! The "small" scoop is not very small so if you aren't big on desserts, I recommend sharing. The ice cream apple pie was also really good but hard to scoop the pie crust with the thick ice cream. Our total was $18 after everything since each topping on my scoop was $1 each so this place is definitely on the pricier side, but it's a cool experience designing your own cup and watching them make it and seeing the nitrogen fill up the store. read more

We finally went to check out this place for the first time with our son's friends and their family after his birthday celebration at the bowling alley. I didn't make my own... I tend to overthink things so when I am given so much choices, my brain can't handle it especially if I have to make a choice in such a short period of time. LOL! It's just me... anytime I go to a "create your own" food place, I go for the "creations" already put together when it's available. So yeah, I ordered the Captain's Breakfast. I love the fruits in my ice cream. That was 5 stars from me! I just noticed from our recent visit that they have Affogato... something I'd love to try on my next visit! The ice cream is delicious, at least the ice cream I've made is/was. Just a few easy steps to get started on making the best you've ever eaten. First you pick your bowl size and ice cream base (signature premium/organic/ sorbet/coconut), then the flavor(any cereal/cookie/cake/fruit/nut/coffee/tea) you would like your ice cream to be, and lastly the toppings (all the toppings are the same as the flavors plus sauces and candies) and upgrades (waffle bowl/brownie bowl/chocolate bowl) if you want them. After you put your order in you watch the creamists(made that word up, not really sure what they call themselves, but they look like chemists or ice cream baristas), you watch them make freezing cold magic. I got the signature premium base, pistachio flavor with strawberry topping in a single scoop bowl, not too much. The ice cream was so rich and creamy, very tasty; good thing I got a small because I would not have been able to eat anything more. I really like the idea of basically making any flavored ice cream you could dream of, the only problem is that you have to watch how many toppings and flavors you throw in there because you can end up with a very expensive bowl of ice cream. My lovely girlfriend and I enjoyed a delicious Saturday night dinner at Rubio's on California Avenue last week, and decided to venture across the parking lot to Creamistry for desert. This place has been open for a few months and there has always been a tremendous line but on this particular evening it did not seem too crowded so we decided to see what the hype was all about. Upon entering the line, my date and I noticed there's something like four different options for your base ice cream, two of which are $5.95 and the other two are $6.95 (these are for the regular sizes, there's an even higher cost for the larger size). Our server of course upsold us to the more expensive coconut ice cream base. We then learned that flavors cost another dollar, and toppings were one additional dollar. I ordered a regular-sized mint chip coconut ice cream, and my date ordered a regular-sized vanilla bean coconut ice cream with sprinkles. Imagine my surprise when I realized I paid just over $17 for two scoops of ice cream. We waited about five minutes or so for the employees to "make" our ice creams. This involved putting the coconut ice cream, some sort of green mint substance, and the chocolate chips into a Kitchenaid stand up mixer, and then hitting it with what looked like an upside down bottle of compressed air to make a big cloud of cold "nitro" freeze it all together. The result? It tasted like plastic and had the consistency of chewed gum that sticks to the roof of your mouth after you drink a cold glass of water. This is the worst, most expensive ice cream I've ever had. I won't be back. read more

It was Christmas Eve and both Dewar's and Rosemary's were closed, so we decided to try this newer ice cream place. Apparently, the gimmick is that the fresh ice cream ingredients are blended upon receipt of your order and then flash frozen w nitrogen. We ordered: banana and peppermint; vanilla bean and pumpkin. We wanted toppings on each scoop but the menu forces you to make separate cups for that scenario(?). No double scoop sundae options at this place. We were happy to head home w our treats, despite the 28$ total! Unfortunately, in the end, they were completely disappointing. Cannot even come close to a Dewar's black and white for 17$. Way less flavorful despite the "fresh blended ingredients". In the end, creamistry ice cream is much more gimmick than substance. read more

Love the idea of ice cream made on order with choices of base of either organic, regular cream, coconut milk, etc. The texture of the ice cream is different - stringy due to its stickiness. Great experience especially when the vapors from the nitrogen gushes out towards you as they are making your ice cream. No problem there. Now the annoyance of this place. THEIR SEATING! Firstly, why in the world would you close off so many tables when you have a load of people coming in????? It gets worse. Then workers readjust the traffic ropes and all of the sudden your table is the center of traffic. With still having those tables closed off. You guys seriously need to chill and let people come in and enjoy their ice cream. If you don't want people to sit, then remove all he tables you have closed off. I've stopped by Creamistry a couple times now. It seems to generate mixed reviews based on a couple of factors: speed of service and price. Let's be clear, this is part performance art, part scoop shop. The liquid nitrogen fog generated with each batch of ice cream elicits oohs and ahhs on every visit. The price for an ice cream can easily hit $10 with multiple toppings or mixing, but I think that's a relatively fair reflection of the novelty factor and increased labor needed to make each ice cream. As for speed of service, on subsequent visits I've found things to move much more efficiently. Compared to my first visit, I've noticed far more staff working, and I think their efforts to improve on this is paying off. This past week we received our order in about 3 minutes. Finally, flavor. Creamistry's flash freeze concept produces almost a gelato type creaminess. I personally enjoy that, but the real star are mix-ins of the crunchy variety. They don't get soggy! It's something that can't be found with regular ice cream. So when I'm craving vanilla with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, you can bet I'll come here. The shop itself has been spotless on each visit. Flavors are constantly refreshed- on our most recent visit they were featuring a black sesame variety. Staff has been friendly each time I've been, and in fact appears to have gotten better with each visit. It's a fun concept and makes for a tasty treat. read more

As for some people that may complain about the price, cleanliness, how long the line is or how long it takes to get your creation ... go somewhere else then where it's ready to be scooped from a bucket. It takes no longer here or costs any more than it does Cold Stone Creamery. If parents would pick up after their children the place may be a bit cleaner. It's loud bcuz this is the place to be and everyone in there is enjoying the ice cream and their company. The employees have always been friendly and in sync whenever it comes to the "Hi! Welcome!". What a cool place.. I am out here in Bakersfield on a work trip and had a craving for ice cream. We don't have a Creamistry in Sacramento or anything like it that I am aware of so I had to give this place a try. First impression was the restaurant was super clean and decorated very modern. The menu and steps to creating your magical ice cream creation are all listed on light up digital screens making it easy to see and understand how this shop works. I was shocked that the staff was all young boys.. you don't see that often in an ice cream shop.. but they all were kind, efficient and fun to watch as they mixed up my creation. I ordered the Nutella and Banana and I gotta say that might have been the best ice cream I have ever had. They make it fresh on the spot and that might have something to do with it.. Your options are really endless with all the different flavors and toppings you can get. I will for sure be stopping by here when ever I am in town. read more

I would go to Creamistry a lot when I lived in LA so I was stoked to find out there was one in Bakersfield! My favorite is the fruity pebbles! I must admit it's pretty pricy but sometimes on the back of the receipt is a coupon, so you can save $$$.
