Cookies & Cream
Taylor H.

Disclaimer: I'm not a big ice cream person. The restaurant is cute and stays open late so it's a great space to meet up with a friend, do a date night, or bring the kids. The staff are friendly and you don't have to wait long. I tried the cookies and cream which is one of their top sellers. The flavor was good, but the ice cream itself was very thick. We went however because they have vegan ice cream. My friend really likes their vegan ice cream and that alone might make it worth it.

When we first tried Creamistry, we wanted to see what all the talk was about with the liquid nitrogen created ice cream. Now I know. The creamy texture of the ice cream is pleasant and really serves to enhance the flavor. Even though the shop was busy, the staff was timely and courteous. The shop was lively and neat and the ice cream looked really appealing. I am terrible with narrowing down options, so was really glad the signature creations existed. Specifically the chocolate combustion, which was amazing! They really committed to the chocolate theme, with the different textures of the brownie bits, the ice cream, and the chocolate chips working together to create a great dessert. Other than just looking neat, you could tell that thought went into the name and components of each item. And there was still the options to create your own as well! Definitely a cool place in more ways than one!

This is a great dessert place nearby the Galleria mall. They have tons of ice cream flavors and toppings. Their staff was kind and patient despite it being late night and close to closing time. The restaurant is small, but offered indoor seating to escape the Houston humidity. I highly recommend Creamistry to anyone in the area.

Kind of pricey but the ice cream is really good! They make it right in front of you and you can tell is super fresh! You pick the size, flavor, and any toppings! You can even choose if you want milk, or an alternative like coconut milk. I opted for a regular milk, birthday cake ice cream with cookie dough bites. It was really good! I got the regular size and it was plenty for me.

Delicious fresh ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. Lots of customizable toppings to add.

It was one of those heat-dome days in Houston, and you know the ones where you're searching for air conditioning every time you choose to step out the door. So, what to do when you have a visitor in town and it "feels like 110" outside? Ice cream of course! We were in the area and decided to stop into this shop, enjoy their air conditioning, and try their nitro ice cream. It was new for some of us, but not my first time. It was a clever and interesting idea, especially on a hot day. I will say, however, the flavor was not quite what I expected. I felt like I was tasting the freezing component more so than the flavor I ordered. Maybe the heat affected tastebuds, but if invited back, the I'll order something else and update this review.

The taro ice cream was light and creamy. It was fluffy like marshmallow whip but sticky. Tables and chairs had smears of ice cream. The staff seemed nice.

I've been here once when they initially opened the place and haven't been back until recently! I totally forgot how amazing the ice cream is! It's such a fun experience to see the ice cream not only being made freshly just for you but also made with liquid nitrogen within minutes! As they make the ice cream, the liquid nitrogen flows out so you can kind of feel the coolness! My favorite part is just knowing that they are making the ice cream with just the base of real milk with no other additives or artificial flavors. I got the vanilla ice cream and added an Oreo mix in so it came out delicious! You can taste the whole milk in the ice cream so it feels very fresh and rich! Love it! I'll definitely be back more often now!

Fantastic Thai Tea I C !!!

I went here for the first time ever Saturday night and ordered a small size Thai Tea Ice Cream. It was good quality, very rich, dense and very delicious in a unique way too. It wasn't too sweet, but very creamy and resembled a frozen custard with that smoky, sweet-spiced, milky Thai tea flavor. It was very addictive in every bite, especially after the first two. The service was great and friendly as well.

This is a pretty dope concept If your ever in the area. Not only that, the ice cream is the bomb. The science nerd in me loves to see the nitrogen .. and the big boy in me loves eating the greatness that it makes lol. The service was great and the lady taking the orders was patient and funny. It is very clean and modern looking, almost like a lab. We got the strawberry bond, and it was just as good as it looked. Great amount for the price point. Definitely will return when I'm back in H town

Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea

I tried this for the first time and it was surprisingly delicious. Im not sure why I thought this was that hydrogen fog making ice cream or whatever, but this was creamy and good. They offer a variety of flavors and topping and you can watch them whip it together. I would recommend trying them.

Cute ice cream shop across from the Galleria! You choose ice cream flavor and toppings you would like. There is a menu with different combinations that you can pick from. It was busy on a Sunday night but service was quick. The small size in my opinion can be shared amongst two.

Ice cream tasted very good. However I ordered small cup and almost $10 is over pricing.

Ask the Community - Creamistry

How do they get the texture so creamy?

It's a combination of the ice cream base that we use, our patented machines, and freezing it very quickly using liquid nitrogen. Because the ice cream base freezes really fast, less ice particles can form resulting in a smoother, creamier ice cream…

I can tell the liquid nitrogen leaves the ice cream with a smooth, creamy consistency that is very tasty!

Coco's is located in Midtown downtown Houston. Consequently, Yelpers should not be surprised the…read moreparking is mostly in paid lots, just like in every major city in the US--Cocos does not deserve to lose a star for this as in some reviews that brought down their average. You may order online, in shop through a tablet, or with a person at the register. We used the register because we did not see the tablet and did not want to order ahead online. The ladies who helped us on our visit were very nice. You get a number and they call it when your made to order food is ready. We did not have to wait long. There was medium to low noisy ambiance. It was deserted when we arrived, but they have relatively loud background music. While we were eating it got pretty crowded. Mostly a lot of young people in the middle of the day on a Monday. The inside is small, seating both inside and outside are limited and close together. One lady was studying with her laptop, but there are no plugs. The breakfast sandwich is customizable. We got it on a croissant and with sausage. The eggs had a unique texture and the sandwich a unique flavor that we could not place, but both were very tasty. We also wanted a crepe, but we split the sandwich and it was sufficient. We also got a small mocha and a decaf, both were ok to good. We would definitely come back again and recommend that you give them a try for a crepe or sandwich. It is sad that a few Yelpers brought down their average to 3.8 stars due to petty and unjustified complaints such as having to pay for parking downtown. Other complaints are not the business' fault such as periodic homelessness--it is a downtown area in the US, other cities have far worse homelessness than Midtown Houston and we saw none on this visit. Additionally, complaints about takeout orders are mostly petty. Takeout is never as good as eating at the restaurant and so customers should adjust their expectations rather than dock the business stars. Nearly every recent Yelp review for this who ate at the restaurant gave 4-5 stars for food quality and customer service. Like most of the restaurants in this area it is a pretentious yuppy style place with specialized food. Although not usually our type of place (we like down to earth hole in the wall places with good food or taco truck type restaurants), Coco's is a solid 4 star restaurant for the type of place they are and they offered a 5 star experience on our visit. Again, recommend you give them a try if you are in the mood for crepes or sandwiches.
