Since I love trying new ice cream places I decided to give this one a shot . I went for a Honeycomb with toffee which was one of their summer specials . The chocolate fudge with waffle bowl combo was delicious . The honeycomb was crunchy and fresh as an ice cream . And the waffle was crispy too . All together it went well. I was really excited to see the nitrogen effect, but the ambiance in there is dead and awkward. We walked in, there were about 4 workers behind the counter, no greeting. The boards were pretty intuitive, but the workers continued to just stare at us with blank stares or ignore us. When we did order, the cashier acted like we interrupted her afternoon daydreaming. No music playing or anything, just dead quiet and stares, we decided to take it to go because it would be so awkward with them being able to hear every word we said and blankly staring at us. Agree the ice cream was really expensive. Even the FIRST topping is $1. Seems like a bit much for 1 small shake of cereal and $1 for half a crushed Oreo on my husbands. The actual ice cream tasted good, though! Also, there was someone cleaning the place while we were in there at 3pm on a Saturday. Sweeping all around us with us having to move back and forth to dodge the sweep, then the same with the mopping...twice, all while just trying to read the menu board while the staff stared at us. I read the previous reviews and was apprehensive about this place, yet I wanted to check it out. To my surprise the staff was really nice, I went there 5 minutes before they were closing. They were cleaning up the store but the server who took my order was really nice. He even added a complimentary fudge topping to my icecream and extra freezed the jce cream for to go. As for the ice cream, I ordered the basic Madagascar vanilla bean and it was one of the creamiest ice cream I have ever had, not sure if it was the nitrogen acting or the ingredients but the ice cream was really nice. Some people have mwntioned about the over priced items on the menu. But to me it seems like its at par with any other ice cream store in Austin/ Round Rock area and on top of that you get to see your ice cream being made from liquid to solid, which I feel definitely has to have a premium. They also have a rewards program, which is always something I look forward to in a store. I would definitely recommend this place. I just wish they remained open till midnight. read more

I came here to post a review but Tom B nailed it. It was $25 for 3 of the smallest ice creams, the wait was far too long and it wasn't even busy. To top it off, I watched one of the workers pull out her cell phone from her back pocket and keep on making ice cream without putting on a new pair of gloves. DISCLAIMER: This review is for the nitro-shakes only. I originally gave them one star, but my husband insisted I give them 2 because the customer service was good. My husband and I were craving some ice cream shakes, and decided to try out this spot. We were kind of thrown off by how pricey they were ($8/each), but we thought it may be worth it considering the concept of nitrogen ice cream. I ordered the birthday cake shake with a coconut base + strawberries (+$1), and he ordered a chocolate shake a coconut milk base + M&Ms (+$1). They were a decent size (about 16oz) and looked decent. HOWEVER. They were...warm. They both tasted like straight up warm cream. It's unfortunate we decided to taste it once we got home, and not while we were still around. The cup was cool so we didn't think twice, but upon sipping the shakes, they were both distinctly warm and didn't even taste good. My husband's chocolate shake tasted NOTHING like chocolate. My shake tasted like warm vanilla cream with TONS of sprinkles. I never thought I would say this, but they should have used WAY less sprinkles! On a related note, $1 for ~2 tbsp of toppings is ridiculous. We feel like we were ripped off BIG time. read more

It was sooo expensive. I heard from friends who'd already been that it was pricey but I wasn't expecting over $7 for the smallest size. Price aside, the ice cream itself is pretty good. It's creamy and the ingredients are well mixed. I shared a small with my friend. We just had dinner and came for dessert. I had fruity pebbles flavored ice cream with strawberries on top. Considering the price, I think they skimp a bit on the toppings. The seating is a bit limited as well, imo. If you're willing to pay for the wow factor of nitrogen and the slightly more creamy than average ice cream, it's worth trying out. read more

I gave this place 3 stars not because it was bad ice cream, but because it is way overpriced. I got a regular ice cream with Nutella sauce & Reese's cups and it cost me over $10. If this was the best ice cream I'd ever had, I'd pay that. But it was average. It didn't taste any fresher or better than Maggie Moos or Cold Stone....and those two are 1/2 the price! I'd say save your money and go to Maggie Moos for the same thing but that frankly has better ice cream. read more

Nice idea, kinda, but once you've seen one ice cream/milkshake frozen with liquid nitrogen, you've seen them all. Not many people want to wait 20 minutes (and that's when they weren't busy) to pay $9 for an ice cream when there are plenty of good alternatives around. As I was waiting I thought to myself, what's the point in this? Service; good, choice/selection; good, ice cream/milkshakes; pretty good but not better than anywhere else. I hope I'm proven wrong but I don't see this place lasting more than a year - busy at first but once the novelty value wears off for people (after 1 visit), they'll probably revert back to Andy's Custard, Freddy's or whatever their go to place is, unless Creamistry dramatically lowers its prices and speeds up the service which I can't see happening. read more

Cool concept. Quality ice cream. Unfortunately when you compare it to it's other premium ice cream competitors like Amy's or Maggie Moos,it doesn't stack up. Service was very slow, ice cream overpriced in comparison to its competitors and you can't even get any flavor pint (unlike at Amy's). Fun to do once if you have time to burn. I do really like their cookie butter flavor though so may come back on occasion for that till I find it reliably elsewhere. Updated review to add a star. Wow! Such rich, flavorful ice cream! We had Madagascar vanilla, matcha tea and a salted caramel cup. We were all very happy with our treats! Creamistry vanilla reminded of ice cream from by gone days- everything is real, not artificial. Also, the ice cream stayed cooled and did not melt on the drive home. It was a 'one time, exciting to my son' experience in my opinion. Way over priced. I agree with the other post regarding topping price gouging. Silly. It was good. Not amazing. This is very sad for me. This used to be my favorite place in the entire world (no, seriously I love ice cream more than almost anything else). Captain's Breakfast used to be the GOAT. Picture on the left is what I was expecting because it's what I've always ordered here. Today the picture on the right is what I got. Note: That has one spoonful taken out. The ice cream wasn't frozen so I was basically eating milk and cereal. They didn't mix the Captain Crunch into the ice cream which is usually the main appeal of this creation... Eat the best cereal without having to cut your mouth open to enjoy it. Additionally, this usually has the most amazing nutella swirls throughout every bite and the amount of fruit inside makes the produce aisle of HEB look puny in comparison. Today they didn't even fill the cup to the top--this is a $9 ice cream! For that price the photo on the left is what I should have got. Before I had signed it, I told them they had charged me the wrong amount. Someone else came over to see and she said they couldn't refund according to the sign that says " No refunds after ice cream is made". The ice cream had not been started yet. She said she still couldn't do anything. I asked for a certificate for $5 next time and she said no. She said she might have something but has to have time to find it. By the time I got my sorbet, she gave me a 25% off coupon that would expire by the end of the month. And to top it all off, the sorbet had a bad aftertaste. One word: WOW! The creaminess of this ice cream is incredible!! It compares to cold stone creamery but even better, and I didn't think there could be anything better than cold stone! I love that it's made before your eyes and with fresh ingredients! You can even pick dairy or non-dairy without sacrificing the flavor you want! False advertising. Theres pictures of these tall, layered, delicious looking cups of ice cream with cookies and brownies in it for $10. Then you get it and there is just some ice cream in a small cup with some cookie dust. The portions are ridiculous for the size and the toppings were almost laughable. I'll start with I absolutely love their ice cream. Their ice cream is beyond creamy and have fun flavors like taro, birthday cake and Thai tea. However, it is frustrating to go into a corporate establishment to pay $15 for two small ice creams and to be treated like a bother the entire visit. I wouldn't mind paying the price if I was greeted when we walked in or was thanked for visiting. The tables are consistently dirty and the workers always retreat to the back ignoring the mess in the front. This is our fourth visit and we have yet to receive a smile from any worker. We have been here twice and will probably not go again. I thought the ice cream making process was cool and my kids liked watching it however, just as everyone said, the service was terrible. No one bothered to ask if it was our first time or even explain the very confusing steps. We went again thinking maybe they were just new and figuring it out but yet again, the service was poor. The amount you pay for a bad experience is a major turn off. We went to another frozen yogurt place with a bountiful selection of toppings and my kids had a blast. I don't really see a reason to go back to Creamistry unless you're having too good of a day and need a bad experience to balance it out.
