Fireplace keeps exploding... We purchased our fireplace at Creative Energy about 2 years ago. The house and fireplace fills up with gas but doesn't ignite and once there is a little spark it internally explodes making a big scary boom. The decorative glass pieces inside somehow get out and spread everywhere. Needless to say that it is scary. They mention a fabrication default and that they no longer carry that particular fireplace for that reason. I asked for the fireplace to be changed on multiple occasion, they came and inspected it but never followed up or provided a solution. I keep trying to call and left MANY messages to DAVID KASTEN but nobody gets back to me. BAD customer service and putting customers at risk in their homes. Don't spend your money there. read more

We recently had a hot tub installed in our deck at our home in Marin. Cole from Creative was our salesperson. We hired a contractor to work with Creative Energy on installing the hot tub in the deck while we were at our other home out of state - so one would step down into the hot tub from the deck surface. Despite clear instructions on how this was to work there were multiple levels of failure involved on the part of Creative Energy in the delivery, installation and activation of the spa at our home. To begin with - the wrong spa was delivered. Delivery to our home involved removing an entire gate and its structure to get the hot tub through. When it was through and on the deck - it was discovered it was the incorrect hot tub. So my contractor had to have them return to pick up the spa and then wait another 24 hours to have it re-delivered. He also had to rebuild the gate and its support structure, twice, so deer didn't get onto the property while waiting for the new one to arrive. Then, after the correct spa was delivered, it was discovered it wasn't correctly fitted for saltwater. So another group of people had to come to fix this problem. Before the installation I'd told my contractor exactly how I wanted the spa to fit into the deck - which direction it should face etc... After installation I discovered it had been installed in the opposite direction of what I requested. My contractor told me the owner of Creative advised him to ignore my instructions and install it how HE wanted it installed. Nonetheless, this infuriated me and conflicted with some specific panels I'd had installed to make servicing the spa easy. I called Creative and spoke with David, the owner. He promised to refund me $1000 and to provide 3 years worth of free salt cartridges to make up for what happened. 4 months later and none of this has been provided. I would not use this company again and would advise anyone considering using them to go to Paradise Valley or another hot tub distributor. read more

Outstanding business. On our third spa. The first one may have been some 30 years ago- I cannot recall. The owner comes out personally to look at the site and to ensure everything is right. We bought this latest one at the tail end of Covid. Our salesperson, Cole, was great. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, and focused on meeting our needs. The only little hiccup we ever had over three spas was a little problem with one spa cover, and they went to bat for us and got us a new one. The products and customer service are great, and they know their business. The pricing seemed very fair and reasonable. There are so many options that unless you are an expert, it is hard to tell if you are getting good value. We shopped around a little before getting our third spa, and it finally came down to deciding to do business with people we trusted. I'm very upset our 2nd Hot tub cover has failed in less than 5 years. The first one failed with all the thread coming out and the seam fell apart. The 2nd one now has cracks all over it and water seeps in and I can barely lift it. The company wants $ 600 plus to replace it yet again. If I were giving this review a couple of months ago it would have been at least 4 stars on the basis of the good installation job they did on my gas fire place insert. However, after making at least 8 phone calls to get into contact with their service folks about a problem I was having with replacing certain batteries in the insert -- over the course of about 5 weeks -- and still not getting anyone from the service team to call me, I would give them zero stars now if I could. At first the excuse was that they were getting inundated with calls after the first "atmospheric river", which was completely understandable. But as the weeks went by, they stopped using that excuse and I do think there's more to the story than the storm, namely poor management. I say that because the farthest I got on this issue was when one sympathetic employee said that she was going to have a certain technician contact me, their "best guy". He didn't call, so I tried back and got the same assurance that he'd call me ASAP. Then more silence. But after hearing this technician's name, I happened to recall that he was the same nice, knowledgeable guy who installed my unit in the first place. As such, I suspect that the only person qualified to answer basic service questions -- about how to replace batteries -- is this same person. Hopefully, that person gets some help soon and this business's customer service improves as a result, but they've lost my business and have forced me to go to another fireplace insert company in the area. read more

Do NOT buy your hot tub from this company. Their customer service is horrible and they cannot be trusted to assist you when needed. I have had a broken side panel of my hot tub since January and they have done nothing to try and fix it. They claim that certain products are on backorder and that there is nothing they can do to fix my hot tub. They never communicate with me on what's going. If I do not call them and check on the status of my claim, there is just total silence on their part. Only excuses every time I talk to them. My mom and I found Ivan Berry particularly helpful as he patiently walked us through how to care for the hot tub that we finally decided to take on maintaining ourselves. We have had an excellent experience from Creative Energy from the beginning, almost 3 years ago, until today. They were very good in helping a choose a hot tub. We love the salt water system because it is so easy to maintain. Their installers did everything right. We had a problem after 1 1/2 years and they had someone here the next day to fix it. There was no charge for the labor or the part. Every year when the time comes to drain and fill the tub I call them to obtain their latest thinking on the best way to do it. Whenever I have a question they are there to answer it. Most recently an issue arose with our cover and one of their employees came by our house on his way home. He understood the problem. Unfortunately the winter storms caused some damage so we will need to replace it but he did a temporary fix so we will be able to use it until the new one comes in. read more

I signed up over a year ago. They said they would give me a new thermostat, which they did. They also said they would send me a cover for my outside air conditioner. I have called three times and still haven't received It. They charged me $3000 to put reflective aluminum sheets in my attic stating it would make my air conditioner more effective. It didn't ! They were supposed to do check-ups every six months and haven't done any. I would advise anyone considering using this company in So. Cal. don't, they have given me a horrendous time. Years ago we had a hot springs hot tub purchased from creative energy. Whenever we had issues we could call for reliable service. It was more than 20 years old when I moved and was still working fine. So I bought a new hot springs tub from them for my new home now almost 10 years ago. We've had problems on and off for past 5 years and creative energy has been terrible about service. When my wife and I decided to get a tub we were expecting to have to wait for months and months. That is what we were reading and hearing from other stores. But Creative Energy was able to get us a tub in just weeks! We really appreciated the low pressure sales approach from our rep Cole. He is knowledgable, efficient and responded quickly to all our questions. The installation team was super fast and got the job done without any problems at all. The store was great, with the wet test room we were really able to understand what we were purchasing and seeing all the tubs next to each other really helped us decide. They also helped us find really great folks to help prepare the space in the yard for the tub. Both a concrete slab and electric for the tub, and decking to go over the concrete. We were exploring a fireplace insert with Creative Energy. We were told that in order for someone to come out and measure we would need to give them a refundable $500 deposit. We were assured that if we didn't want to proceed with the insert, our $500 would be refunded. After measuring and looking at the insert options, we decided not to move forward. We didn't like the way they looked. We talked to our rep, Cole, and asked about glass fronts w/o the insert. He gave us some options, but all had too much framing and not enough glass, so we want to explore another company. We've left a message with Creative Energy requesting the refund but did not get a call back. I also emailed Cole on May 10 and again on June 2 but he has not responded. I called again this week and talked to a rep. He said he was new, couldn't help, but would have someone call me back w/i the hour - we have received no call back. It is clear to me that Creative Energy does not want to give us our $500 deposit. Beware of this company. When you request a refund 4xs and you get no response, something is very wrong. I recently purchased my third Hot Springs hot tub, I have enjoyed using these products over the last 30 years. I could not recommend Hot Springs hot tubs more highly. I am in the trades and see a lot of different brands. What I like most about the Hot Springs tub is the ease of maintenance and how quiet the system is. I don't like the loud pump motors. While the other experiences a creative energy have always been positive my most recent experience, with Cole, has been the best yet. Cole had amazing product knowledge and helped me pick the right tub for our application. I also had scheduling needs that were challenging to say the least. Cole was professional and accommodated all of the scheduling needs and got my tub in for me on time as promised. He even made a follow up visit to see how it all looks. I'm very happy with my choice with my price point. Everyone who works there has been there quite awhile and they all seem to know each other in the different locations. Walking into the showroom in San Rafael you are greeted with some really good music and a cute little dog. Purchased a new spa from CE in mid 2017. One of the back massagers stopped working recently. Requested a site visit to repair and was charged $85 site visit. Called to request explanation - refund based on the equipment failure and was told the Manufacturer "authorizes" them to charge this. Called the Manufacturer who said it's in the warranty agreement. Well maybe so but I don't feel after paying $10k for a Spa that I should have to pay anything for them fix a defect. Poor approach to customer service on both Mfg and their local dealer. read more
