Half Monster Medley breakfast hoagie, half Breakfast Hoagie with scrapple, side of bacon
    Martha C.

I use Door Dash to order from this breakfast gem! The Monster Medley hoagie has all the best foods of breakfast overflowing a yummy roll. The scrapple and bacon are perfectly cooked and the home fries are seasoned perfectly. I haven't been able to dine in the restaurant yet, but it is a goal. Highly recommend the food for a comforting breakfast. They serve lunch also.

    Eggs and turkey sausage!

We finally asked our waitress and she was surprised that we didn't get the "dinner menu". Yeah, we were surprised to find out there was more than just sandwiches for dinner. She apologized that the person who seated us just didn't give us the dinner menus even though it was just about 7pm! So she said if we wanted, they would let us order from the dinner menu and give our original food to someone else. Honestly, by that time, we were sitting there for more than 45 minutes and we were starving, so we just told her we'd take our sandwiches. I have to say she was extremely apologetic about it, and was genuine. We appreciate that, but it's still unlikely we'll return.

This is a cute spot for breakfast or brunch. We had a great time eating here. The seating is a bit…read morelimited, there are probably five tables inside and two picnic tables outside. Thankfully, we got there a bit after 10 on a Saturday and didn't have trouble getting a table outside although as mentioned, there are only two out there. There is a good spread of food and drink choices. I enjoyed my pancake platter (came with side of fruit - strawberries and blueberries - a protein, and two eggs, all for 10 bucks). The only drawback I saw apart from the limited seating is I felt like we had to ask for everything, from water to pancake syrup to napkins. There was one girl manning the counter and bringing out food and the aforementioned pancake syrup and napkins so I felt bad asking for things. I would have liked some ketchup with my eggs but as mentioned, I didn't want to ask too much since the one girl was doing a lot of the work. There's got to be a way to streamline the process so guests can access the water, condiments, cutlery, napkins etc they need. Maybe have those available somewhere inside? This place is only a 10-15 min drive from Longwood Gardens so it's a great place to grab a bite before going to the gardens.

Left waiting for the server for quite a while after we finished eating. Too little eggs in the short rib hash; one egg just doesn't work for the amount of potatoes and shirt rib. We enjoyed the French toast, the break & butter, and overall flavors of our eggs dishes. Browsing the store and plants after breakfast was nice.

We made the reservations for happy hour specifically to sit outside and listen to the live music. When we arrived, even though we had reservations for their happy hour, we were told there were no places outside and they wouldn't even honor their happy hour menu inside. They later came back after realizing they were in the wrong and said they would honor the drink prices but not the appetizers on the happy hour menu. We saw an empty high top table with no chairs outside that we would have stood at, but that wasn't even an option. Instead, we were told we could purchase drinks and walk around outside. Since we were there for a birthday (indicated on the reservation), this was upsetting. We left and found a nearby restaurant with delicious food and all-day happy hour nearby.

The food gives you that fine dining experience without the pretentiousness. The staff is warm and friendly -- shout out to Chet for his amazing service. They were also very accommodating to our son who was in between napping when we began dining, setting up a high chair for us in a way that would allow him to continue sleeping in his car seat. We started the meal off with some seared scallops that were perfectly arranged. Next, my wife had some seared tuna while I ordered the Colorado bison -- both items off of the special seasonal menu. The dishes were incredibly flavorful and the veggies that surrounded the meat added a nice complement. I also really enjoyed my California cab, as did my wife with her house Manhattan. We will definitely be back next time we are in Delaware, and highly recommend to anyone visiting the Hockessin area!

(Server rectified) The pasta carbonara was prepared using guanciale instead of bacon or pancetta. I found it too rich and almost over cooked. The duck wings appetizer my friend had were excellent. The fresh fish entree was delicious. The cheesecake dessert was a thing of beauty. I would probably try again, but it's a half an hour away. (We passed way too many other restaurants to try)
