I left a poor previous review, but removed it after giving them a second chance. Staying locally, I gave Creekside a visit to pick up some streamers and any tips/advice for some upcoming trips to Idaho. Attentive service, personal experience recommendations on what might work well, and an insight on how to approach camping in the area were offered by the friendly staff on duty. I have not spent better time anywhere learning angling from more passionate people. I can't recommend them enough.

I booked a class for my daughter and me. Paid several weeks in advance. Never received any info or communication from the shop, so I called. The guy on the phone could have been having a bad day because he was prickly and a touch too condescending for my taste. Long story short, we were no longer eligible to attend because we missed the first class. The troll on the phone said I should've known and that he could only refund the class if I drove a credit card to him. Boo this man. read more

Whether I need it or not, anytime I am looking for anything fly fishing related, Creekside is my first stop. Throughout the years I have been coming to the shop, they have helped set me up to go swing flies in Alaska, fish the local rivers all around the PNW and MT, and latest help set me up for my first trip to Baja to throw big flies inshore and bluewater. The staff is extremely knowledgable and have been more than open to answer any and all of my questions, no matter how amateurish they may be :). When doing roadtrips, they have been really open in sharing their experiences where they had luck in the past, good shops in the area, or a good place to get food. I consider Creekside my local Cheers, no matter if I need anything or not, when I go in they are happy to chat away with me. That is the thing that for me separates it from other shops, they can be busy and they have struggled to hire staff like most stores in this market, but they have always treated me as a regular, busy or not, when I am next in line, they are not rushing me out the door, they will have a conversation with me. It's the local, neighborhood feeling that is missing from a lot of places today. read more

I've wanted to learn how to fly fish for quite some time, but just never got around to it. An friend suggested contacting them regarding taking some lessons. I called and was told that the had a class the next evening (Thursday) and that there was still a spot open if I was interested. I decided to go for it. The class ran a little over two and a half hours, and was really informative. I had no idea how little I knew about it. Sunday morning we all met in Fall City where we practiced casting. Jacob also talked about reading the river and gave us a lot of other very usable information. He obviously love fly fishing. (You should see the ease with which he casts) It cost $100 and I highly recommend it for anyone wishing to learn how to fly fish. read more

Creekside has been my go-to shop for years and years. Granted, I've been "going to" a little bit less frequently in the last few years as job and family have demanded more time, and many of the old-time staffers I knew on a first-name basis have moved on, but I still love this place. Everyone who walks through the doors here is greeted like family. The guys who work in the shop deliver consistently awesome service and advice. You expect to pay a little bit of a premium in a fly shop over the Amazons and Cabela's of the world, but bringing your business to independent shops like this is an investment in our sport. And the quality of goods on offer, plus the expert guidance on selecting exactly the right items for your needs, make the overall value outstanding. Oh, and selection. Let's talk about selection. If you want it, they have it. Period. And if you want something they don't have, there is probably something way better that they do have. I would submit that the only exception I've discovered to this rule is the little pinch-on foam indicators I love to use for nymphing (call me a redneck, I don't care). Apparently these are no longer manufactured, though, so hard to blame the shop for not carrying them. I'll just continue to steal from my buddy who ordered a lifetime supply from an online shop when he found out they were discontinued. Anyway, Creekside: Go there, spend some money, catch more fish. Creekside has been an Issaquah institution for many years. I began fly fishing at the age of 16. My first experiences at Creekside were amazing. The original crew Pete, Seth, James and eventually Brett, shared everything they knew that I wanted to...I soaked up info like a sponge. It was their wealth of knowledge that led me extremely successful fly fishing trips. Today, many years since my high school days, I still buy leaders and fly tying materials from the Creekside crew. They know what's going on, they have helped me find unique fly fishing opportunities. I truely feel like I owe Creekside for my passion for the sport. Thanks crew!
