We were in Anderson and wanted something to eat but tired of the same ole places we're use to. I started searching google for something different and I came across Creekside BBQ. When we pulled into the parking lot I noticed that there wasn't a lot of vehicles so my immediate thought was oh no, this isn't going to be good. We walked in and there was 1 table (party of 6 or 7) so then the same thought went through my head,l again. The hostess sat us and soon after a very friendly waitress(forgot her name) walked up, greeted us, and took our drink order. I started feeling a little better about our decision to eat there. We ordered the homemade chips and ranch as our appetizer. Those came out really quick and they were delicious! We then ordered our food and there wasn't a huge wait on it but while waiting, the waitress brought us out some "bread". This wasn't just any ole bread. This was Texas toast with butter dripping off of it! She then brought us a bowl of rib sauce to pair with it and that was a game changer! The food was very delicious, the staff was VERY friendly. Visited right after the lunch rush on Mother's Day. Friendly greeting and we were seated right away. They were out of ribs so my wife ordered the pork and chicken and I ordered the brisket. Very generous portions! The pulled pork was excellent, the best of all the meats! The chicken was very good and the brisket was just ok for me, it was not as tender as I like. The Brunswick stew was not to my liking, and my wife thought the sweet potatoes were too sweet. But the slaw and mac and cheese were very good. Would definitely come back for the pork! read more

We ordered mustard bbq sauce and asked for extra. We received 0. Also ordered some hot bbq sauce, and either both were mislabeled or their "hot" has 0 heat. Brunswick stew was good, so were the baked beans, but not getting the right bbq sauces really hurts the, you know, bbq. As a former server I understand sometimes mistakes happen. The food wasn't bad, though, and had we received the correct sauces this would be a 4-star review easily. Especially since the mystery unmarked sauce was actually quite good. read more

Good food with large portion sizes but average service. The restaurant was a little busy so the service was a little slow, but still friendly. Several of us in our party ordered the special, $8 for pulled pork, 2 sides, and a drink. The portion size for the meal was huge! None of us were able to finish our food and the number of to-go boxes we walked out with made it look as if we ordered extra food to go. A party of 5 spending less than $60 for that much food is unheard of in quality restaurants. The BBQ itself was pretty good. The spicy sauce and rib sauce were both our favorites. Freaking wonderful!! So so so good. The portions are ginormous (I'm not complaining) lol. I recently moved close to the restaurant even though I've lived in Anderson for a while, but I'd never been here before. Decided to give it a try and I have no regrets. The food was amazing. I ordered a Bar-Be-Que pork sandwich plate with macncheese, fried okra, and fries. My mom ordered the same thing but with collard greens, fried okra, and Brunswick stew. We shared our meals and they were awesome, but the portions were so big we honestly could've shared one plate! Definitely allows for left overs. This was my first visit after driving past here many times. I decided to try it after reading other great Yelp reviews. This place is fantastic. The service and the food are great. I had the pork bbq plate which included three sides. It was the leanest bbq I've had in a long time. They had a nice spicy sauce to compliment the meat. Two pieces of toast and the sides was way too much food for one person. Easily shareable. The owner came to each table to check on everyone's meal while I was there. There's also ribs, chicken and lots of other things to try on the menu. Overall great experience. I highly recommend it. read more

Very decent BBQ. My wife and I went on a Saturday night, no crowds at all. Service was a little slow, but the lady seating people was also bussing tables and taking to go orders. The restaurant is a lot better than what you expect when you pull into the parking lot. The exterior is faded and seems dated but the interior is fresh and clean. Service was fantastic, we sat outside since we had our dog and the manager brought us a small togo bowl of water for our dog. The helping of fried pickles could be described as heaping and delicious. The barbecue and chicken (wings and smoked) were fantastic and delicious. Definitely look forward to coming back when we are in the area! read more

So good! Stopped here driving from Pensacola to NJ. So glad we did. Possibly the best BBQ we have had. My son ordered the chicken platter which came with your choice of three large sides all for $11.95. He got the stew, fries and Mac and cheese. All good stuff. Fall off the bone chicken was great with the sweet BBQ sauce. I got the BBQ brisket which was perfectly smoked as well. I ordered the slaw, Mac and cheese and a huge loaded baked potato. Mine was $13.95. My 9 year old ordered the kids chicken fingers and fries. She didn't even touch her chicken fingers because the BBQ and baked potato was so good. My wife shared with all of us and we still had a full plate of leftovers! All of the waitresses were hurrying around serving the whole restaurant and even the owner walked around, greeted every table and was working as well! Our waitress was 36 weeks pregnant! Came in tonight, service ignored us before even greeting us. Sat us at a dirty table that smelled sour, had to ask for it to be cleaned again. Took over 50 minutes to get BBQ plates with macaroni and beans. This place use to be great but we will not be back again. The fact that I had to put only 1 star saddens me. My family has been eating at this location for around 15 years now and before the owner passed away the staff and the food were amazing! Yesterday, that all changed. We live over an hour away and by the time we got there we knew they would be a little busy so when we got there the hostess (super nice young lady) told us it would be a few minutes before we got a table. Once we got seated a few waitresses came by our table but nobody stopped to take our order. Several minutes had passed and at one time a very young girl kept giving us very mean looks and at one time got into an argument with the hostess telling the hostess to wait on us instead of her. A couple of minutes later the hostess asked if anyone had approached us to order and we said no but hearing what we heard from the young waitress my husband said he did not want her waiting on us that we would prefer the hostess waiting on us because of the rudeness that young waitress was giving us. As we were saying that to the hostess the young waitress passed by and said something very rude but said it so low that we could not hear her. At that point we made a decision to not eat there and asked for a manager. When the manager came out we informed her of what happened and as we got our things to leave the young waitress came up in my face and confronted me. That was uncalled for!!! I reminded her that she needed to show some respect for her elders. I'm only 41 but still. Kurt, the owner who passed away, would have never had that happen. It's sad to know that the place we loved to come to for some great food is not the same as it used to be. read more

This is the best barbecue in town. When I was away for college, I craved their sweet sauce. They always have friendly service and great wait staff. Before the owner passed away, he always made a point to come to each customers table. There wasn't a time that we visited that he didn't come by. My wife proclaimed this her new favorite BBQ restaurant before the meal was over. The food and service was very good. The restaurant is very clean. We started with BBQ nachos (fantastic) and each had pulled pork plates that come with 3 sides. In all, the food (fries, coleslaw, load baked potato, sweet potato casserole, house salad, Texas toast, which I proclaimed. The best) was very good. My daughter didn't care for the Mac n cheese, which she said was over cooked. For 4, we spent $50 and had plenty of leftovers for a 2nd meal. Would definitely stop again and order half as much if passing through the area. I took 1 star away for moldy bread on my daughter's kids meal, which they promptly corrected. Excellent food and service. As I was coming in, I noticed the owner was having a serious conversation with either a customer or an employee, and it seemed to not look well for the owner, but I did not allow that to faze me in the least bit. Went inside, was greeted warmly, was seated, and after placing my order, received a basket of Texas Toast to nibble on. The bread was very good, tasted fresh. The bread also allowed me to try some of the sauces on the table. I will say I did not care for the mild sauce that was on the table. When I placed my order, my server asked if I'd like the rib sauce. I said "yes", and when my order came out, she gave me this generous amount of some of the best sauce I'd ever had. The meat itself was very tender, had just the right amount of bark and meat. The macaroni and cheese was just top-notch. Wasn't too dry, wasn't too bland, and had just the right amount of cheese. The baked beans weren't all that great, but I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to beans. The fries were excellent, but I got too full on the sandwich and the macaroni to eat any fries. While I was eating, the owner came around to chat with me, and I told him if I ever had to go back up to Anderson for work, which was why I was there, I'd be returning to him. He seemed very friendly, very open to concerns or comments from his customers. Very rarely do you find this kind of service in any restaurant, chain or private. My family we traveling through and wanted to stop at a good barbecue restaurant that uses a real smoker for good tender meat. The atmosphere was clean, the food was great and the service was excellent! The amount of food they give for a plate was more than enough for my husband and I as we shared a plate and had some to take home. Not to mention they gave us six peaces of buttered Texas toast while we waited for our meal.I used that to test the three different flavors of barbecue they had on the table. My favorite sauce was the sweet sauce the kept in the kitchen while my husband really liked the hot and mustard sauces, his thoughts were," it had a good hickory flavor on its own". We ordered the pork/ brisket it came with three sides they were pork -n- beans, fries, and mac and cheese. My 4 year old and six year old split the pork basket with a side of mac and cheese and they couldn't finish it all.. While my 12 year old daughter ordered ribs that that qas on the kids menu she ate everything,and left the bones dry.. she had nothing to bring home :) I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a southern style Barbecue. I had heard good things about Creekside BBQ and this raised my expectations too high. The service was good and atmosphere was about as plain as you can get. Now for the food. I ordered the rib basket and I agree with some of the other reviews about the ribs being average. The flavor was good but it was not fall off the bone tender/moist. Maybe a little dried out. Tried this place for lunch with my wife last Sunday, and I have no complaints. Great food and service. I could do without Pepsi products, but they have great Sweet tea. The primary thing we eat at any BBQ joint is the pork. We were disappointed that we didn't find that the meat had a smoked flavor to it, hence the average rating. However, we requested the "burnt ends" for an appetizer and they were wonderful. Crispy and charred, served with fries and a sweet dipping sauce. Turned out that the sauce is the sweet rib sauce. I highly recommend it as an alternative to either the mustard (very vinegary) or the red sauce. As sides, we had baked bean (good) and brunswick stew (average). Four tasty slices of Texas toast and sweet tea rounded out the meal. read more
