Great breakfast food and generous portions. Chicken fried steak with pork gravy was divine!

Have been to Super Moon Buffet several times over the years. The latest visit was last weekend, on…read moreMother's Day and I think it was the busiest I have seen it. We had a later lunch and by the time we left, there was still a long line to get in. It has a nice variety of dishes to select from. One of our favorite parts of the buffet is the hibachi area - my husband, our older son and I all had our own selection of ingredients stir fried for noodle dishes. There are many tables available for seating and the servers are nice but super busy.

Tried Super Moon Buffet this evening and I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the $150 was…read morefor... because it definitely wasn't the food or the experience. Let's start with the obvious: it's a buffet. We're getting our own plates, our own refills, doing the whole "DIY dining" thing. Fine. But for that price, you'd expect at least decent food. Instead, it was bland, forgettable, and sitting somewhere between lukewarm and questionable. Now the part that really sealed it: as we were literally getting up to leave, an employee approached us and demanded a tip. Not suggested. Not politely mentioned. Demanded. Then another staff member came over, pointed at the receipt, and told me I needed to tip. I'm actually a generous tipper, happily so, when it's earned. But being confronted like that? That's not service, that's pressure with a side of audacity. I even tried to clarify, thinking maybe gratuity wasn't included and I misunderstood. I was told, "No, service is completely separate." Okay... then maybe make that crystal clear somewhere? A sign, a note, literally anything. I would have gladly run to my car to grab cash and come back if it had been handled respectfully. But after being cornered and told I had to tip? Absolutely not. If your business model relies on tipping, act like it. Don't ambush customers on their way out like they're skipping out on a bill. Between the overpriced, underwhelming food and the aggressive tipping situation, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while.

We tried the double sided noodles with chicken and kung pao beef, both excellent choices in my opinion! The beef was expertly seasoned and cooked with fresh not frozen pea pods and onions. The double sided noodles were not expected as they seemed dry but then once marinated in the sauce from the chicken it was fabulous! We also had to obviously have egg rolls and some potstickers. My friend had to have her prerequisite hot and sour soup that I didn't take a picture of, but they were happy with it. Try this restaurant out, the staff was super friendly without constantly dropping by, just enough to refill water glasses and c h deck in on us.

We tried the Szechuan dumplings in chili oil, cream cheese wontons, and the kung pao chicken. There was a lot on the menu that caught my eye, especially the orange beef - but unfortunately, they do not sell that dish anymore. The dumplings were mostly warm, but some were cold. The flavor was impeccable, so I didn't mind the mixed temperature. That's something that could be improved. I haven't ever ordered kung pao chicken, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it was amazing. Seasoned well and served with a little heat. The amount of chicken you get is impressive. It is served with a side of rice. The wontons were some of the hottest/freshest wontons I've ever eaten. Steam was coming out of my mouth! It definitely was a fresh order due to them originally forgetting that part of our order. I was pleasantly surprised by this experience, although the dumplings were cold, and an order of wontons was served late, everything was unique and cooked well. The flavors are amazing. Will definitely be back.

Madras curry is spot on, and I can't believe I m saying this but the sambar is better than most South Indian restaurants in Minneapolis area. Hope they keep up with the quality. Food is great and flavorful, but the front of house kills the experience. You'll get better service at Karim's in Old Delhi. Seems same owner group, was really hoping for a better experience. They charge 4% for use of a credit card. In today's experience, we walked in at 1:42. Note I am on crutches and have a large knee brace on. We waited at the cashier stand for 2 minutes. Then a server tired to guide us to a booth. With my knee that is a no go. Had to talk him into placing us at a table. He then can back twice with a pitcher of water (no glasses mind you). Then he asked if we wanted the buffet or al cart. We asked for menus and that seemed to confuse him. Then waited 5 minutes for him to bring out the menus (and he finally brought the glasses for water). We then waited another 17 minutes for him to take our order. Now this would be acceptable if the place was busy. We were one of 5 tables. And all but us were doing the buffet and of the 4 doing the buffet, 3 were done and just conversing. When he did come to take our order he brought the handheld POS, but did not enter anything. Had to come back twice to verify our order. Food was delivered by food runners. Never say our server again until he came and tried to collect the check. Had to ask for water, to go containers and the receipt. He left to grab the containers and then proceeded to hover awaiting for the payment. He almost seemed insistent to take the CC, but I paid cash. As I realize this is a huge overhead for smaller restaurants. But at a 4% charge for using a CC, this is the highest I have seen in the TC area. So pretty sure it not a pass thru of their fees, but a mark up. He also tied to say the cash amount was $30 and the CC amount was $32.56. This latter amount is the tax amount. So actual bill is $32.56. While the food was great, the service will keep us from going back. Which is the same reason we never went back to Nalas.
