For some reason, I was craving a beet salad, and the menu provided! The salad itself, though, left me wanting more. I also ordered the chips and guac, which were pretty good. Not great, but not terrible. It mostly hit the spot. Service for our large party was attentive and fast. Our server also was able to split our check up a million ways, which is always so appreciated. Every time we go wine tasting in FairPlay we always go to Creekside Cork and Brew. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. We have brought different groups of friends here and everyone always leaves saying how good the food is. My favorites are the garlic Parmesan wings. They are meaty, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The burgers are great, filling and tasty. My favorite is the Smokin hot burger. Also good is the brunch burger. Today I got the special - clam chowder which had a good quantity of clams and was very filling. My partner got the beef stew which was very flavorful. For dessert we shared the carrot cake which was home made and delicious. Angie our server was efficient, cheerful and friendly. Look forward to coming back again! read more

This used to be our favorite restaurant and we ate here twice a week. We won't ever be going back. The quality of service and food has gone down since the new owners took over. The two young girls that work there are great, but if they're not working, your service is going to be awful. The place is called cork and brew yet they know nothing about wine or beer. I had ordered an IPA and the owner come out and tell us they were out of it but they had something very similar but she didn't know the name or anything about it. I asked if she could just bring me a small taste and she kept saying it's the same - then proceeded to bring me a guava hard seltzer. Then it became apparent that they were not cleaning their tap-lines or changing out their kegs regularly. So we stopped ordering beer when we went. The quality of the existing menu plummeted but the new Mexican food they added were good so we continue to come for tacos. Recently the tacos came out, barely warm with an odd consistency and strange taste. We ended up with food poisoning after our last two visits. The first time we blamed on airport food since we had been traveling that day but now it's happened twice and there's no debating it was their tacos. read more

Creekside is one of the few dining options near Fair Play, but don't think twice about dining here. Every bite will be worth your while! The flavors and portions blew me away, and my party had plenty of food leftover the next day. We ordered the mac and cheese, celebration fries, and carnitas tacos, plus an Italian cream soda. Since all the dishes were from the appetizer menu, I was expecting smaller plates. The chef brought our order to our table (takeout only but outdoor dining allowed during COVID), and we received three large boxes of food which could've been entrees. The mac and cheese was topped with bbq pulled pork and balanced with pickled red onions. The celebration fries had lots of flavor from the bacon and jalapeños--try them with ranch dip. The tacos were loaded with carnitas, avocado crema, queso, and had a great bite to them from the slightly crispy tortillas. I got a blackberry cream soda which was refreshing and the perfect pairing to the food. Service was friendly and quick despite being busy with the dinner crowd. There is an outdoor patio upstairs and downstairs by the creek. It was fully shaded in the patio areas which made dining comfortable despite the heat. We had the tacos (1 carnitas, 1 al pastor), fish al diablo, bbq mac and cheese with steak, and Hefeweizen. Since it was a Friday night, there was a truck serving beer infused pizza. We of course had one of those too. Everything was delicious. We inhaled the pizza, despite saying we'd only eat half. The crust was light and had the right char. The tacos were well stacked and plentiful. They did not skimp on the meat. The sauce on the fish al diablo had a spicy but not overpowering kick. It balanced the light fish well. Then there was the mac and cheese with steak. Probably one of the best best mac and cheeses we've ever had. Decadent. Hearty. Smoky and comforting. Paired well with a light, refreshing Hef. It makes me feel terrible to downgrade my review, but we have been there several times and it's a pattern. We bring out of town guests here and the food is great, but there is one employee who, every time we are there, it's irritated that we are there, ordering food, or asking a question. Tonight, when she brought out our food, three was a tiny issues with the soup. No big deal. Things happen. So my husband said, "But we still have a salad coming." Not rudly, at all. (She didn't take our order, so we thought she might not know.) She snapped at him. "I'm not done bringing your food!" Our whole table was taken aback. Something like this happens every time we go in with this same employee. We have zero idea what we did to upset her. It might be an incredible Mexican place, but if you want a nice dinner, like what it used to be, it's sub par. The burgers have gotten relatively flavorless since our initial visit. Tonight, my pesto pasta was so dripping in sauce I might as well have been eating a soup. But, the flan was good, so maybe the Mexican portion is better. What baffles me, however, is why you would buy the business with a great modern California ambiance and menu and turn it into burgers and Mexican, like everything else around here. As long as they have been open, I can not recall them ever having a male manager, let alone currently. Where to start, Casey and Frank and the entire staff at Creekside are amazing, helpful, kind, and caring. My husband and I found our wedding venue just up the street and were told that there was a cafe down the way that might be available for our rehearsal dinner, so we wandered down. To our surprise we found a beautiful cafe with friendly smiles and welcoming greetings. Obviously, we ordered the Brie and fig burger and Mac n cheese and fell in love with them immediately! We asked to talk to the manager/ caterer so we could talk business and arrange a tasting and to see if we could hold our rehearsal dinner there. Such a shame. This place was fantastic, but there has been an ownership change and it didn't make it better. Let's talk about the food, then the service. One of us had the BBQ Mac & Cheese. There didn't seem to be any cheese, and the overwhelming flavor was vinegar from the pickled onions. One of us had the enchiladas. When asked how they were, she shrugged and said, "Eh ... not great." I had chicken wings, which in the past were just awesome. These? I left several behind with no desire to bring them home. Service. I placed my drink order and dinner order, asking for blue cheese dressing on the side for the wings. Wings, Beer, blue cheese dressing. Simple. I had the pleasure of repeating my order four times before she got it. On the good side, I only had to order the drink twice. When the wings came, I noticed the blue cheese dressing had spilled all over my wings and dripped into the bottom of the basket. I asked for a new side of blue cheese dressing and my waitress scampered off. About 5 minutes later she remembered me and asked me if I still needed my Ranch Dressing. It was so nice to see that this place SOMEHOW survived through COVID19. We arrived on a Saturday, around noon, along with everyone else in the place. The servers were a bit harried trying to get everyone situated, but they were professional, and kept their smiles on. We love restaurants that offer local wines! Bit, we're not as familiar with Fairplay wines as we are with Amador. So when I asked our server about a particular wine, she brought me a sample and let me decide. Both my wife and I enjoyed the Shadow Ranch Tempranillo, as it was wonderfully full-bodied. We ordered three apps, ceviche, carnitas tacos, and mac-and-cheese. I thought that they made a mistake with one dish because it was covered with meat. That turned out to be the mac-and-cheese, which was smothered with smoked pork shoulder. Everything tasted great! We had leftovers, including the ceviche. When we asked for some boxes and some ice to keep the ceviche cold, the server delivered, despite their having an ice supply issue. So food, wine, and service were on point, as was pricing. We'll be happy to return! read more

This has become our must-stop spot in Fair Play when we visit our cabin and we have loved every single item we've ordered. We have been here multiple times, and we just love this place! We are El Dorado County locals and recently bought property in Fairplay, so this cozy little hidden gem in the heart of wine country suits us just fine! Wow!...I mean WOW!!! From start to finish this place was amazing! The staff was extremely attentive, and the food was beyond incredible. My husband and I split a Western Burger and Cesar Salad for lunch. It was more than enough for both of us, and I must say, we were more than happy!!!
