We were hungry, happened to stumble upon this cozy little spot, and I'm so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by Jaime, who was working behind the bar. Right away, I told my wife, "She looks like she owns the joint." Turns out--I was right! We asked Jaime for her recommendations, and she suggested the tri-tip tacos. We went with those along with the chicken caprese sandwich and truffle fries. The kitchen happened to be having an issue with the oven that day, so the food took a little longer than Jaime wanted. But my wife and I honestly didn't mind one bit. We were enjoying some rare time alone away from the kids, having a great conversation, and chatting with Jaime. She was incredibly personable and made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. Then the food started arriving. First up were the tri-tip tacos, and they were absolutely scrumptious. The meat was flavorful and tender, with just the right balance of zest and saltiness. They disappeared pretty quickly! Next came the chicken caprese sandwich, and WOW. The chicken was tender, the fresh mozzarella paired perfectly with the spinach, and everything came together beautifully. It was an amazing sandwich. But for me, the unexpected star of the show was the truffle fries topped with cheese. Crispy, piping hot, cheesy, and ready to be devoured. I could have easily eaten another order by myself. My wife enjoyed a refreshing glass of white wine, while I was the responsible driver for the day and stuck with a near beer. Then came the biggest surprise. When I pulled out my credit card to pay, Jaime told us that our entire meal and drinks were on the house because of the delay. We were genuinely shocked. The funny thing is, we weren't upset about the wait at all. We had enjoyed every minute of our lunch. But that gesture told us everything we needed to know about Jaime and the way she runs her business. She truly takes pride in Vine EDH and genuinely cares about making sure every person who walks through the door has an amazing experience. Great food will bring you into a restaurant, but hospitality like that is what makes you remember it and want to come back. We will absolutely be returning the next time we're in El Dorado Hills. Except next time, I'm making sure we bring some cash so we can leave a BIG tip for the amazing bartender who just happens to be the owner too! When we first walked in, we were impressed. Cute little conversation nooks with comfy furniture in little corners, a decent wine and beer list, and some appetizers. The menu says all beers are $5 on Thursday all day. We figured it was perfect for what we needed. We settled into a corner that was near the salon, as there was no other seating inside. Did I mention the comfortable furniture? Well, it's a good thing it was comfortable. We sat for nearly an hour, waiting to have our order taken. The first two of us to arrive we're given some water to drink, but myself, and the other straggler were never offered water. During this time we got to experience the...ahem... aroma of the salon next-door. Peroxide and other hair products don't usually lead to an appetite. We decided to wait it out. And wait we did. After nearly an hour, the one employee who appeared to be working today, came to take our order. My friend ordered a glass of wine and she told him that they were out of that one, so he chose another option. I then ordered a beer, and she started to leave the table. Somehow she hadn't seen that there were 4 of us? Friend who had been ignored quickly said , 'and I'LL HAVE ..." to get the server's attention, and then ordered a glass of wine, while our final friend ordered a beer. There was a buffalo cauliflower appetizer on the menu, and we ordered it for the table. The server arrived after a few minutes with one glass of wine, which she sat in front of me, and a beer which she placed in front of my friend. We assumed that she had just mixed up the two of us, so we traded, and I took a sip of my beer. She then came back with another glass of wine. She started to leave and told us to let her know if there was anything else we needed, so we reminded her that we had another beer and an appetizer coming. This is when she told me that the beer that I had ordered was one that they were out of. I held up the one in my hand and said oh, is this not mine? Since we had already waited an hour, my friend just took the beer that I had sipped from, and I waited while she went to get me my new order. When we were nearly done with our drinks, our appetizer finally arrived. It was all we could do to keep from laughing out loud. That was the smallest possible plate with the smallest possible amount of cauliflower on it. A handful, but not an adult handful. Well, maybe Bernadette from Big Bang Theory, but not an average sized adult hand. For four people. You would think she would have told us that it was small and we might want more than one for the table. Honestly, I would've wanted more than one for just myself. To their credit, the cauliflower did taste good. Good thing the salon smells had ruined our appetite. We waited again and finally got our check. They had charged us for one glass of wine, the overpriced $12 handful of cauliflower, and two beers. However, the advertised five dollar happy hour price for the beer was not reflected on the check. She had charged us seven dollars each for the beers. We called this to her attention when we went to the counter to pay, as well as the fact that she had not charged us for one of our glasses of wine. She said "oh yeah. I did that to make up for the beer. We're not doing that anymore. We don't have happy hour on Thursday anymore." It seemed to have escaped her that you can't list something on the menu at a certain price and then charge a different price. Overall, they get one star for comfy couches. We won't be back.
