I asked if they had the carrot cake when I entered the restaurant. Of course they have it. The Dessert is one giant slice of cake and 4 forks due to the generous slice. We brought our friends here for a birthday celebration. It is a small neighborhood restaurant, delicious food and easy parking. We started off with a family sized beet salad. We also had the arancini which was 3 balls of goodness. We Also shared a crispy Brussels sprouts dish which is a must order each time I come. We ordered the crispy crusts mushroom pizza and Margherita pizza. Mushroom pappardelle sans dairy. All pastas are home made per the server. Wow did not know that! I had the bone in pork chop with mash potatoes and spinach. It was a large dish, so had a take home box. Service is excellent. I learned that they only serve beer and wine, not cocktails. I will always come back,

Great ambiance, wonderful service, and delicious food. What more could you ask for? The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, both outside and inside. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly, and seated quickly next to a window. Don't be fooled by the title, "Small Plates." These mussels were a full, satisfying meal for me.

With my partner's family, we went to Berkeley to try this delectable restaurant. Parking was quite easy to find and we were the first customers inside. The servers were all quite friendly and happy to help. We were seated and ordered a few beers, brussel sprouts, pork chop, steak, gnocchi, campanelle, and burrata. Each item was made very well and delicious. It was a very solid meal and we'd certainly want to come back. We ended the meal with fluffy panna cotta and a scoop of salted caramel gelato. So refreshing and lightly sweet! The whole restaurant quickly filled up on that Tuesday evening and it's easy to see why~

A lot of people don't know that the City of Berkeley sits on top of a number of creeks. Long before the city was built, these creeks flowed bringing vibrant life and beauty to the region. Well Creekwood is doing just that! This quaint restaurant on Sacramento Ave. brings a nice array of Italian and American cuisine. With both indoor and outdoor seating you can be fulfilled on a cold or hot day. I was very impressed w/ the Cesar Salad. Actual fresh anchovies and the perfect blend of lettuce, croutons and dressing. A great salad to at pair w/ wine and to start your pasta/mains. For me the Cameroni was the highlight. I loved the pork sausage ragu w/ touches of broccolini topped w/ pecorino and fennel. Honestly when I first saw on the menu that it was lightly topped w/ fennel seeds, I got nervous. Too much could throw off the whole dish. But that wasn't the case. I feel like you really can't go wrong with w/ any of the pizza selections. For us, the Mushroom Pizza definitely hit the spot. Truly enjoyed the delicious flavors of chantrelles w/ mozzarella, pecorino on top of a bed of marinara w/ splashes of white truffle oil. The perfect dish to share amongst friends.

Of course I had to come back here to try some new dishes since the last time we were here we enjoyed our food. We like doing brunch so this place had a good menu for brunch. We got here about an hour after opening and it wasn't that busy at all. We sat down and the waitress came by to see if we wanted some waters which we did. We ordered the meatballs appetizer and then the mimosa special which was a bottle of sparkling and a carafe of OJ for $45. A great way to start the day and for the price you can't beat it. The meatballs came out and they were just as good as I remembered. Tender, juicy, and a great marinara sauce. For our entrees we ordered the pastrami Benedict and the egg sandwhich with bacon. Our order came out pretty quick which you expect since it wasn't busy. My egg sandwhich was delicious, the bread was light, the eggs were fluffy, the bacon was cooked crispy which I like, and the potatoes were also cooked perfect crispy like I like. The eggs Benedict with pastrami had lots a flavor to it. A must try. Of course our waitress was great, she came by frequently to see if we needed anything. We were too full for dessert. Next time.

Brought my extended family here for their first time and dinner was absolute perfection! Brussel sprouts, meatballs, and beet salad to start- gnocchi, cameroni, pappardelle, and short rib entrees- and multiple desserts all round to end the meal. Everything was delicious and service was impeccable. Creekwood is always a good time!

Came for a date night on a Saturday, it was super fast to get seated! The service was amazing from then on, very attentive and suggestions were on point. We had the crab pasta, prosciutto pizza, affogato and carrot cake. All were AMAZING and we can't wait to go back

We went here for brunch one Sunday since we wanted some pizza, turned out that pizza only served at dinner. Well we came back for dinner and ordered the pizza turned out that it's only looks good on picture from Our fellow yelped. The dough was hard and the sauce was nothing to brag about. We did enjoyed their salad and pasta though so for sure we will skipped the pizza but will return for other dishes. Good service, food comes out fast and both indoor and outdoor seating are great.

Landed here in our search for blue cheese and pear pizza BUT we missed it by like six months. The pizza they're offering now is the blue cheese and PEACH pizza. Anyway, we felt it was a well crafted pizza.. rich smell of blue cheese.. the peach slice flavors also really popped when I ate them individually. If I do have to nitpick, the pancetta was a toss up. I felt it was too dry and crunchy; my wife loved it because of the texture. Highly recommend this pizza though! I ordered the speck pizza. I'm not too impressed with this one because I'm not getting consistent flavors with every bite. The smoked prosciutto usually disappear from the first bite leaving you with nothing else.

Super cute spot with great food! We shared the Brussels sprouts, gnocchi, & sausage pizza. All the food was delicious but the gnocchi was my favorite with a very rich & smooth pesto sauce. Came on a Thursday night & there was no wait. Highly recommend coming here!

Came here for dinner with three friends on a Saturday evening. Staff and Service: - Staff was friendly and we had a couple of different people making sure we had a good experience Food: Based on the service, I wanted to like this place more. There wasn't anything memorable about the dishes. - House Salad: this dish was basically a pile of spinach with limited dressing. - Little Gems Salad: this one was better and had more flavor - Wild Boar Sugo: the noodles were good, but this dish was salty overall - I appreciate that they had a few nonalcoholic drinks as well. The Bellini Peach Soda was tasty Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via local street parking - Reservations available - Heated outdoor seating available - Overall, a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad, but not great either.

    Ask the Community - Creekwood

Are mimosas available both Saturdays and Sundays?

    Yes!

Is pizza available at lunchtime or it just the brunch menu (where I don't see pizza)?

    What are the vegan options?

Roasted beet salad Crispy Brussels can be made vegan…

Is patio seating available for brunch on the weekends?

Yes- we have our covered patio with heaters available for brunch in the weekends

    Is there gluten free pasta?

We have gluten-free pizza- not pasta at this time

Parking situation- safe and easy or not ? Thanks! I don't live in Berkeley so not sure at night ...

There is street parking. I'd be surprised if you had any issues during the time you dine, but it's not the best neighborhood. Just be aware of your surroundings and don't leave valuables in the car.

Is there a corkage fee? If so, how much? Thanks!

Yes it is $18. We waive a corkage fee for every bottle purchased off our list.

Do you ever have a seafood entree on the menu (branzino or salmon, for instance)?

We have not yet so far, but it is something we have talked about for the future.

Any details on the beer options?

We have four on tap. Currently pouring Faction IPA, Magnolia Kolsch, Almanac Hazy IPA, and Scrimshaw Pilsner

Aside from beef, does any of the meat come from pasture-based operations?

Yes! Our chicken is Rocky Jr free range. The lamb is Superior Farms (sustainably raised American lamb)

Is the beef/meat free range and grass-fed?

Hi Alanna... no the beef is not grass fed, we prefer the flavor of non-grass fed. To my knowledge there isn't any designation for free range beef

We called to get a quote and had a discussion. After we gave the owner all of our information, she told us she wouldn't give us a quote unless we came in person (?!) Which is weird because this isn't how restaurants work. Typically for events restaurants will give you a quote via phone or email for the sake of convenience. We had gotten 3 quotes already from other restaurants via phone. Making us drive 45 mins just to get a quote is a total waste of time. Especially if we can't afford it. So my daughter called again, left a VM explaining we couldn't come in person due to time constraints, and again asked for a quote. No reply. We waited a few days and called again. No reply. Finally we got a voicemail from the owner saying that she didn't like my daughter's attitude ?!!! Apparently you're not allowed to ask this restaurant how much they charge for events unless you're face to face. This lady has absolutely no idea how to run a restaurant. Such great offerings but when I'm getting my hair done, I'm in a rush to go back home/work. I finally made the time to visit Etoile! My sister was in town and getting her hair done. She needed a ride to the salon so off we went! We had an almond milk latte and a regular latte. We ordered it for here, so we asked to have them served in mugs. The lattes were delicious! There a good mix of students studying here. And some people working. It was a pretty quiet group when we were there. My sister and I sat at the counter and chatted very quietly. Nicely decorated inside. I love independently owned cafes like these! We also got a breakfast sandwich, but they are made to order and it took awhile, so we had it packed it up to go because she didn't want to be late to her hair appointment. Sandwich was great! Service was great! I'd love to go back and order from their lunch menu!

The workers and the owner were all very kind and welcoming. I got there a little after they opened in the morning. As for the food, I ordered the kimchi fried rice along with the chicken and croffle. The fried chicken tasted a bit interesting. I'm not sure if the frying temperature was off or if it had something to do with the condition of the oil, but the texture of the breading wasn't quite right. I used to work at a fried chicken shop in Korea, so it was a texture I recognized--the coating was fully cooked and wasn't necessarily soggy, but there was no real crunch. Instead of being crispy, the breading was soft and kind of gave way when you bit into it. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue eating it. I'd give the chicken a 2/5. As for the kimchi fried rice, I liked the addition of cilantro and beets, which gave it a refreshing touch. My only issue was that the kimchi itself was way too sour for kimchi fried rice. I don't mind fermented or sour kimchi, but in this case, the sourness overpowered the rest of the dish. Overall, the cafe itself is cute and the people working there were genuinely very kind. I just wish the food had been a little better, especially the fried chicken. Will be back next time to try out the coffee!! It is a cafe after all.

We tried going to another cafe that wasn't even that busy and they told us it would be a 20 mins wait with several 4 tops empty. We arrived here and every table was packed with a small waitlist. We both left happy, and the birthday boy was more than satisfied! I pass by Cafe M almost weekly and always notice how busy it is. The last time I dined in was pre-pandemic, so I was looking forward to coming back. Since we came on a holiday afternoon, it was quite busy. Luckily, we snagged one of the last tables outside, where we sat with the pup. They have a decent amount of outdoor and indoor seating, but wait times can vary depending on what time you arrive. The service was fine but not the most attentive. They seemed a bit frazzled and were juggling a lot, but our food came out quite fast My companion got the Homemade Corned Beef Hash, and I got the Delmar Crepe. He is pretty picky with his corned beef, and he gave theirs two thumbs up. This was also the first place he didn't finish his corned beef, so you know the portions are generous! I got the Delmar Crepe, which was an intriguing combination of crab cakes plus other ingredients in a crepe. The crepe was crispy, with a generous amount of tasty crab cake, plus good stuff like avocado and spinach. The potatoes were delicious as well. I could only eat half my plate, but I'd recommend it! For folks in the Berkeley area, I highly recommend Cafe M for brunch. It's a Berkeley staple with classic and specialty brunch items, and I'm looking forward to coming back! Find them off Fourth Street with street and lot parking.

My friend who rarely insists on eating at specific places insisted we come, a previous girlfriend was in the food industry and they have this place bookmarked for awhile. They described it as "healthy california food". We came on a Friday morning around 9:20 am and it was pretty crowded. You can't park right in front but there was plenty of street parking on the weekdays. Inside, its intimate and cozy and there is also a nice seating area outside with lots of dog-owners hanging out. Everything we had was great quality with choice ingredients where you could actually taste the difference. Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich: herb butter, roasted seasonal vegetables and onions, soft-cooked egg, and greens. Surprisingly filling, we were trying to share a bunch of little bites but ended up getting one each of these. It's fine as a stand alone mini breakfast! Frittata: pastured eggs, assorted vegetables, caramelized onions. WAY too good! we all love this one. Herb-Dijon Biscuit: Excellent savory biscuit, you can taste the high quality butter used.

It was pretty hard to pick from the menu items, but I settled on the Frittata with a side of Fennel Sausage, sourdough toast and a Arnold Palmer. Although the seating was full, thank goodness out food came out just as some seats were emptying out. It was a chilly day and the outside seating was full too. The service was without any complaints. They did their best to accommodate all patrons despite it being very crowded and crazy busy. Overall I would come back here, probably right as the doors open to be guaranteed a place to seat and not have to wait and hope for a seat. Oh the music was on point!! Put it on your list, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

It's also one of those places that makes you want to stay. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and generous. Every time I come here, I tell myself I'll pace myself... and every time I fail because it's just that good. The burgers are loaded and perfectly balanced, the fries are always crisp (never soggy, which is rare), and everything tastes high-quality and made to order. You have to try the chicken and waffles. The waffle batter tastes homemade and the butter takes it to another level... it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. I'll even DoorDash it all the way to Jingletown. The patio setup is really well done... there's a mix of larger tables for groups and higher bar-style seating for smaller hangs. The wooden furniture and cushioned benches make it comfortable, and they've got heaters for colder days and umbrellas when it's sunny, so you can usually pick your ideal spot. You order at the window and then just hang out while you wait... it's a relaxed flow and the food comes out pretty quickly. The staff are always kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a relaxed, homey vibe with really good music. Highly recommend... just come hungry.
