I really enjoyed my first experience at Crema Coffee. I met up with a girlfriend and it was the perfect environment. There is art from local artists on the walls for sale and several tables to enjoy your beverage and talk or work. I ordered a kiwi strawberry iced tea and blueberry scone and loved both. I am so impressed with this place. My iced vanilla cinnamon latte was the most delicious one I've had yet in Tucson. The decaf espresso is very smooth and delicious which isn't always the case with decaf. The interior is unassuming but the service and coffee are fantastic. Let me start by saying I love small businesses and take any chance I can to support small, local coffee shops. That being said this place is just meh. Coffee meh. Ambience meh. Service double meh sub meh with an extra shot of meh. I had a meeting with one of my employees and thought we'd stop here and have a cup of coffee before starting the day. When I went in on a Wednesday morning, it was me and one other person. She left pretty quickly, so it was just me left. After I placed my order, the only worker in the place which I assume was the owner placed my order at the counter, rather than bringing it over to me where I was sitting at the table. He walked over to me to tell me it was ready...but didn't bring it over. Weird. The cortado didn't taste like much, and the ambience feels kind of like a dorm room dressed up like a coffee shop. Similar to another review, I really wanted to like this place as it seems to nail the community element. However, the coffee was memorably bad. When I say that it was the worst coffee i can remember having, I'm not joking, my friend mixed two of their sweeteners and it was undrinkable- managing to be both cloyingly sweet and just sour in a way that coffee shouldn't be. I'm a black coffee drinker and a bit of a snob; if you prefer creamy coffee or teas, you may have a better experience. I enjoyed seeing art and local chotchkies, and didn't have any issues with the service. However, the coffee was bad enough that I won't give it a second chance. read more

Super cute little place! Sat down in here for 3ish hours to get some work done and had the most delicious cranberry herbal tea! They filled it to the brim too so I got a huge deal :) Atmosphere was great (and that's all you can really ask for as a college student who struggles with finding a balance between too much distraction and not enough distraction). Since moving to Tuscon I've sampled a few different coffee shops but I was really wowed by Crema. I'm totally hooked on the cold brew. Yes it's strong but it's got great flavor, and I just add some milk and it's absolutely delicious. PLUS, they use that single large (Manhattan-style) ice cube, which melts more slowly than traditional ice cubes, so you're even more certain that it won't get watered down - and it doesn't. It retains its flavor all the way to the bottom. And they offer simple syrup. And the owner/proprietor and staff are very personable and helpful. They also offer a few breakfast items. And they open early (there was one day this week they weren't open for some reason but the normal opening time is 5 AM which is great if you're up early). Will definitely return. Finally, a family owned coffee shop around this part of town! As others have mentioned, this place has a number of great qualities worth mentioning: 1. It's family owned. Enough said. 2. Quality beans. I got an iced latte and it was on point. It wasn't unnaturally sweet like Starbucks and other chains, and you could actually taste the beans. 3. Cocktail-style ice cubes. You know, the large 2-inch square ones. It keeps your drink cooler and doesn't water it down as fast as multiple smaller ice cubes. Besides, who doesn't like looking at a massive chunk of ice in their BPA-free tumbler, right? 4. Chill ambiance. Natural lighting, two sofas, and some square tables spread around the cafe. The volume of the background music was perfect, in my option. It was loud enough where you could hear it and quiet enough where if you wanted to listen to your own music, you wouldn't have to blow your ears out to drown out the background music. 5. A simple and straightforward menu. Personally, I hope they keep their menu the way it is. You want to come here for coffee after all, right (or tea, I suppose)? If you want an iced caramel macchiato with two dabs of pumpkin spice powder and blue sprinkles on top, you can get that somewhere else. 6. Local art. The wall has art from local artists. We went here on the day of its grand opening and one time a week after. Its directly next to Bookmans so a collaboration between the two would be a fantastic idea. Maybe spend $20 at Bookman's get a free coffee at Crema or make a small library inside of Crema because the place is brand new and doesn't have any decor. We really believe the price of the beverages is great. If they add more food options along with music, board games, maybe a stage for open mic, spice it up a bit it will be a great addition for that side of town. I love that they have a tea of the day; I appreciate that so much more than the shop presenting you with a list of all their teas and then you deciding. I don't always know what tea will be good iced! Also, the ice is so interesting here. Very large! At first I was kind of turned off by it, but the more I drank my tea, the more I liked this giant ice cube. There are tables throughout, and it's pretty quiet so it'd be a good place to get some work done. My wife loved hers and the latte was probably the best I have ever had, but just a warning, it was chocolate-milk sweet. It was what I was looking for but some might not like it. The interior is clean, sparse, and surprisingly spacious given this is a strip mall location. There are around 6 large tables and good natural lighting. The owners, a husband-wife duo (pretty sure), are welcoming and you can tell they appreciate quality. The prices are the best part. My wife's tea was $2 for 16 ounces as the tea of the day, and it was really unique and fresh. No sweetener necessary. My 12 ounce iced latte with mocha added was $4. Sorry Starbucks.
