Split a BLT with daughter and while I am not a fan of BLTs (it was daughter's choice today), I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of ingredients and especially the meatiness and crispness of the bacon. There are GF options as well! New Moon has a plethora of fun drinks both alcoholic and non. I grabbed an alcoholic kombucha to go with it and it hit the spot. These are absolutely divine sandwiches. I ended up coming back a second time during a recent visit to Truckee. This place is very crowded with long wait times, but they are upfront with the customers about the wait time to properly manage expectations. Both times I went, it was more than a 20 minute wait for the sandwich. I got the Maggie's farm vegan veggie sandwich the first time and the Cosmic Charlie the second time, both were excellent. Would definitely come here again if I am back in the area. read more

This is why I like Yelp. Apparently not a lot of places in Truckee are open for lunch on Mondays, and Yelp helped me learn about the deli in the health food store. So so so yummy. They have a variety of sandwiches, I chose the Spanish caravan - delicious salami with a perfect fig jam compliment. You can also pick up a smoothie or juice across the room, and of course any other side from the precooked section. So many delicious options! read more

If you want to have one of the freshest, most delicious sandwiches you've ever had in your life, come to this place. We stopped here on our way to Tahoe and it was love at first bite. We had to stop again on the way home! I got the wild horses sandwich. You do have to go into new moon grocery store FYI. Tucked away in the corner of the grocery store, this little gem pumps out some absolutely delicious sandwiches! I was craving a vegan sandwich while in Truckee and am so glad I gave this place a try. Everything about the sandwich was perfect. The pesto was bright in flavor, the balsamic onions were savory and had the perfect kick. The veggies were crisp and fresh. The bread was crunch and had a great chew. My GF loved her tuna sandwich as well. She said it was a high quality product. This place is what a deli sandwich should be. This place is the best! The food is amazing, the staff is super helpful, and it has great healthy options. My favorite is the Maggie's Farm...IT'S INCREDIBLE. There is outdoor seating in the summer which is lovely, though I wish there was more seating inside. Great sandwich counter inside New Moon Natural Foods. The sandwiches are bomb, and there are a few excellent vegetarian/vegan options. I got the Revival Wrap, which is hummus, avocado, sprouts, etc. wrap in whole wheat tortilla -- made me feel very healthy. Two of my companions got the Jesse's Girl with tempeh instead of pastrami - basically a vegetarian reuben. I had a bite and it was delicious and I somewhat regretted not getting one myself. Don't have sandwich FOMO, order the Jesse's Girl! (Unless you feel like eating a very healthy-feeling wrap like the Revival, which was also tasty and fresh.) Folks who worked at the counter and throughout the store were very friendly and nice. There's a great selection of beverages, and also freshly made juices and smoothies, plus kombucha on tap, at the juice bar right next to the sandwich counter. The food is delicious! I especially love their sandwiches! The menu changes often so you never know what will be available to tantalize your cravings.
