Small town restaurant feel. Seems like the staff have worked there for decades. Always a smile when they interact with customers, but the smile usually drops a soon as the head turns. Finally I found a place better than ihop (and more reasonably priced since ihop's prices are going up). But this is a cute and well established family business. They specialize in breakfast and they sure deliver on their specialty. They serve lunch too, but I came in around noon and the place was full so it must be good. The place was busy, but I was impressed how quickly I was able to order and get my food considering how busy it was. And best of all the staff was very very very friendly. They joke around with you like you are family and I thought it was awesome! I'm certainly coming back just for that touch of charm alone. But last but not least the food was incredible. Stopped in early on a Friday morning when I was in Ogden for work for the weekend. Saw all the positive reviews on this place and decided to give it a try. I went with the 'Toms Breakfast' (one massive pancake, bacon and eggs), coffee and a scone. Let's just say this was a TON of yummy breakfast goodness. The pancake was literally pan-sized and filled the whole plate. Bacon was the perfect crispness and eggs spot on. To complete the ensemble, the scone was the biggest scone ever. Food was average, hash browns were terrible, I substituted a pancake for hash browns and got hash browns anyway. Waitress needs to get better organized when juggling multiple tables, I did want more coffee but you never came back and asked once, I asked other employees. My chicken fried steak was soft and soggy, this was the first time in my life my CFS wasn't crispy/hot. The scones are huge and taste fairly good. Maybe offer some honey with those scones, it'll go well with it along with that butter. My parents have lived in S.Ogden forever & Im so sad I only just found this local gem! Hands down best waite staff in all of Utah - quick, genuine, no wait time & filled coffee within seconds! The famous scone does not disappoint! Steak & eggs breakfast made with perfection! Im from Vegas and super picky when it comes to steak & eggs & breakfast. This spot is amazing! The food here is the perfect breakfast food. Just simple and done well. We tried a few different plates and each of us left with the intent to come back VERY SOON to try some more! More specifically, a cinnamon roll! We saw one come out as we were leaving and now it's something I MUST have. The staff is friendly and the establishment is clean. My only two complaints are trivial, so they shouldn't be taken too much to heart. However, they are enough to keep me from offering 5 stars. First, the place is incredibly small, so the wait can be quite long, especially on a Saturday morning. The next is that they choose to be closed on Sundays. I respect their decision and the ability to do so but it forces alot of lost income for their staff, revenue for the business, and disappointment for those of us who can only get out for a treat on Sunday mornings read more

Bacon on chzburger was the fresh just cooked thick strip variety, and all toppings on the side were fresh and tasty including the thick crinkle cut pickle chips. Nice dinner roll bun. However, I'm not a fan of shredded iceberg lettuce- especially for a dress it yourself sandwich, whole leaf preferred for me. The fries are hand cut, and unlike 5 Guys and Nate's East Coast Grill, they are crispy! I am not a fan of fries to begin, so when I get an order of limp, oily, soggy fries it feels like such a waste to the meal and the wallet. I haven't tried breakfast but will be sure to come back. Stopped in for lunch with my family. This was my first time here. Place is mainly a breakfast house, although they serve lunch too. Had the steak sandwich. Very good. Meat was tender and chewable. Some places you have to chew and chew to get it down. I had french fries with mine because sister told me they were like the kind mom made when we were kids. Not! They were undercooked and greasy. So the food here is average, for sure. Good old greasy, not healthy, American diner breakfast. It's located in what looks like an old, run down Chinese restaurant with a lot of booth seating and plenty of parking. What made our visit worth it was the speed and service. We seated ourselves per the sign when we walked in and were greeted and getting waters in 30 seconds or less. The two gals serving and bussing (and running the cash register) were awesome. Friendly, and helpful with our toddler. A lot of these reviews say their scones are the best, but in my opinion (husband is less picky) it was over-proofed. Tasted super yeast-y and the crumb was just really large. I enjoyed my omlette. The sweet roll was really good! And CHEAP for being frigging enormous! I think it was $4 and change. Criddles has been a staple for us since they opened! My brother had eaten there so took a few of us, then we started going regularly and posting about it -- so many of my friends now call it their favorite breakfast place as well. The food is fresh and they don't make a fuss if you request a few tweaks to it when you order to make it how you like it. Their scones are delicious, my daughter's favorite. By far the most standout item on their menu is their cinnamon roll -- they are HUGE! And covered with a ton of frosting and butter. Buy one and share it with five people, there's plenty!! This is breakfast heaven! Nothing fancy but everything done so well! The French toast was buttery and not too sweet, the egg perfectly over easy, the bacon crispy just as I requested! This place is the business! My husband and I come here all the time and it's amazing every time. The pancakes are the size of a whole plate so only order one to start with, you may only need one! The french toast tastes just like my grandma makes! The pièce de résistance are the scone bites! I get those more than anything else. They come with an amazing honey butter but I like mine with syrup! The over easy eggs came hard cooked. Hard. The ingredients used are very obviously the cheapest they can buy, therefore no taste. Sourdough toast had no flavor, coffee was not worth drinking even though the water was good. We didn't get the famous scone, but I think that must be what others are giving more stars for. I feel bad writing a bad review because it's a cute little place. But food is mediocre, it's really loud, and they made a few food decisions that finally made me feel like I won't be returning. I have been to Criddle's a couple of times - and I won't fail to mention that the scones are good - but the rest of the food is mediocre. A friend at our table got scrambled eggs with "cheese". We were shocked that there were two slices of (what seemed to be) Kraft American Singles place over her eggs - rubbery and orange (and barely melted... because those things don't really melt). I also thought it was strange that honey was not offered with their scones and we had to pay extra for a small container of it. It was also really loud and not really a great ambiance. It's overpriced which granted is common for breakfast - but all I can say is that I regretted choosing Criddle's. It's a busy spot at lunch time. When we went there were no open tables, but it was just a small wait until one was available. The omelette I got was huge and delicious! I'm a firm believer that everyone needs a greasy breakfast place nearby home to indulge in every now and then. Criddle's Cafe definitely fills this need. The service is incredible. I went in with three friends on a busy Saturday morning and we were immediately seated. Our waitress was efficient and attentive for our entire visit. The prices are comparable any breakfast diner. I think the sticky tables, kitchen clatter, and cheesy decor are completely necessary for a dive breakfast joint so the atmosphere was perfect for this type of restaurant. The menu had a decent variety. They offer all traditional American breakfast items in a variety of ways. I know that 99.9% of "greasy breakfast diner" goers are not thinking about calories but I personally would have appreciated a few lower calorie options. Instead, I ordered off of the kids menu with no problem. The food was exactly the same as larger plates but the portions are much smaller. The signature items are scones and cinnamon rolls that are as large as your plate. My friends ordered these and they were impressive and delicious. For service, atmosphere, and variety I would give Criddle's 4-5 stars. The food, in my opinion, was nothing spectacular. It is comparable to any American breakfast diner. With that being said, I was not disappointed with the food. I just wasn't blown away. The only original or outstanding menu options seemed to be the enormous scones and cinnamon rolls. The only difference I could spot between Criddle's and similar Diner's, like; Granny Annie's, or Sill's was that Criddle's had Oatmeal on their breakfast menu. Otherwise, it was the same, same, same. Run-down building, with matching interior (the booth we sat in had duct tape covering holes in the upholstery). Huge portions of artery-clogging food. And a less-than-quiet atmosphere. To their credit, our server was on top of her game. And our food arrived at the table, piping-hot and with lightning-fast speed. That part of the meal was impressive. The oatmeal was pretty good. It was topped with dried cranberries and apples. My kids shared an order of chicken strips, and had a (Utah-version) Scone. My husband had biscuits and gravy, and said it wasn't the worst he's ever had. He also ordered a Raspberry-fritter. We didn't really know what to expect with the Raspberry Fritter? I assumed that it would be similar to a Rasberry Fritter donut. But at Criddle's, it wasn't. It was a (again, Utah Version- fry-bread) scone that was pumped full of, and drenched in a raspbery syrup. My husband didn't like it, at all. I didn't think it was too bad. So, would I go back? Probably not. There are better breakfast places in the area (Piccolino's) that don't leave me feeling like I need to go work out for hours-on-end to burn off the meal I just consumed. read more

They look pre-cooked and just warmed up - are a bit soggy and could do with another minute on the grill. The spicy gravy is perfect on the side for me. It would have been too much on the plate. The bacon is lovely and crispy. The egg was fresh and cooked perfectly. The scone... well, there are no words to describe it... not your typical scone is probably the only way.
