The chicken is very tasty and sides like rice, beans, plantains, sweet potato fries, and mashed potatoes certainly ensure there is: something for everyone. The sauces are also delicious! Why do people lie on these reviews. First time ordering from this establishment today through DoorDash. The chicken smell good but that's about it. The middle of my chicken was cold I mean cold and most of the breast was red. The rice was old and the black beans were so watered down. They were leaking from the lid of the container. FIRST AND LAST DAMN time I will order from this place. Good thing DoorDash will be refunding my money after I sent pics of the chicken and a very detailed reason on why I wanted a refund. This store is located in a very good shopping center. The area is across the street from the red line subway Metro line too. This was my first time eating here for breakfast. The order process is by machine. Although, I wanted my egg sandwich to be fried hard, they already had an egg mixture that they used. I didn't want the cheese or salt added. I'm glad they didn't add cheese to the mixture but there was slightly amount of salt in the mixture. It was a good egg sandwich but i wished they could have fried it instead. Overall, the value for this combo meal, which included coffee and orange juice, was very good. read more

I love trying all the different Peruvian chicken places across the dmv and this one was probably the most disappointing one I've had. The positives would be that primavera rice was stellar just a smaller portion than you'd expect from a place like this. The negatives would be, the chicken while standard was a bit saltier than other places. The yuca was a weird gray color and flavorless (I always get yuca at these places and this was the first time it didn't feel fresh or properly cooked). Then there's the sauce. I got, yellow. red(spicy version of yellow) and green (jalepeno). Green was fine, but yellow and red felt....spoiled? Very thin, bland and a really strange aftertaste. I usually split my typical order into two lunches because it's so good I want it for more than one meal, but this is the first time where I not only didn't finish my food, but tossed the rest in the trash. If I hadn't had a 50% coupon from uber, this would have been an even bigger disappointment. Probably won't choose CNJ over more reliable choices like El Pollo Rico or Super Pollo again. read more

We ordered the family meal- whole chicken, with sides of salad, yucca, and rice and beans. Our favorite thing was the sauce - it was absolutely delicious but not even close to enough for the meal. I'd say we needed double what we were given to have enough. The Caesar salad was decent size, but wasn't anything but cheese, lettuce and dressing. The white meat of the chicken was dry, though the dark meat was good. The rice and beans were ok. The fried yucca was by far the best tasting food we had. Unfortunately, overall we were underwhelmed. This place is a running joke in our family. The realastate person I bought our first home was all about Peruvian Chicken. We gave it a try, it was like $50 for a huge platter of food, wanted to celebrate in our now Condo (Mind you this was in 2014 so maybe much better now). There was nothing to write home to Mom about. How can something be both Crisp and Juicy? It's like one of those oxymorons because it can't be both, right? Wrong - check it out dawg - somehow they got it. And it's not burned or soggy?!?! If it was burned or soggy I think peeps would call this place Pissed and Poopy. Or something else that doesn't have to really rhyme with it - I just thought for a second that I could pull it off. But I'm not going to delete it because I'm straight up. I don't lie. I like a lot of food but I hate more food than I like. Peruvian Chicken is pretty good - especially when it is both Crisp and Juicy (and they tell you that when you walk in so you're all ready to judge but they know that you'll probably Rule in their Flavor - see what I did there? I love Crisp and Juicy. Been coming here since 2015 on a regular basis, but they really need to stop using harsh bleach solutions to mop their floors, especially when customers are eating inside. It makes the whole place smell awful like ammonia. read more

The food was mediocre and the order was missing items I paid for. When I tried to call the restaurant, staff would not answer the phone so I could not work toward a resolution. 2. The restaurant steers you to use their web ordering platform as providing perks like points and supposedly lower prices, but there is no way to contact them should their be a problem with your order, and messages sent to their online contact email go unacknowledged and unanswered. 3. When you do order from their platform, they included undisclosed fees (in violation of DC Law) 4. As for the food, the yucca wasn't fully cooked. 5. The chicken was just okay, I recommend ordering from El Pollo Sabroso in Columbia Heights--the food is much better. Or Chicken and Whiskey on 14th street. read more

Unsuspecting goodness! I was quite surprised as to how GOOD and flavorful the food was at this little shop tucked away near American Uni. The chicken was really fresh and flavorful throughout, not just the skin. The Yucca was the best - I don't know where else I could find authentic yucca like this besides East Africa! I ordered the $30 family platter which had two whole chickens and two large sides. They gave the two tiny white sauces for it ( their like little teaspoons.) For me the white sauce makes the meal. The next day I was driving in the area so I swung by and politely asked them to give more, and no longer skimp their customers. They proceeded to charged me 50 cents for every new one they gave me. I've been a customer of Crisp and Juicy in Tenleytown since this place first opened, and I won't be returning after today. I placed an order for pickup, and proceeded to the store to get my order. When I entered the store, there was no one near the counter - it looked like the place was abandoned. I was soon greeted by a surly employee who mumbled something completely incomprehensible. I had no idea what he said. I asked, "excuse me?" and he mumbled incomprehensibly again. I have trouble hearing sometimes, but I don't even think that was the issue. He was just mumbling in a surly tone. When asking what he said once again he addressed me in an aggressive, rude way. The guy just seemed like he hated working there and projects his anger onto customers. Reading the other reviews, it seems this guy has a habit of being rude to customers. It's really a shame. This establishment should look into hiring more friendly, accommodating staff. I've worked in the customer service area in the past for 5+ years, and this level of disrespect and bitterness towards customers would never be tolerated. These types of employees leave a bad taste in the mouth of their customers. Many establishments don't realize it, but one bad customer service experience is enough to lose a loyal customer for life - as is now the case with me. I certainly won't be spending money here again as there are a number of food options in the area that preferable in terms of quality, taste, price, and customer service. If you want some Peruvian chicken without the extra, unnecessary spice from customer service, I'd recommend the famous chain, which is located just a couple of blocks down the same street. read more

Typically we receive excellent tasting and moist chicken. On occasion we have gotten one that is too dry, but not enough times to stop ordering from there. Service is pretty fast. We haven't eaten inside so can't really speak to the ambiance. read more
