I've been curious about this place since it was built and every time I'm in town I think I want to test it out and tonight was finally that night! They have soft dough based cones (almost like a horn shape) that are fresh baked and rolled in cinnamon. They have limited time special selections of tlother flavors too (like golden Oreo - I was so tempted on that but wanted to try th OG). The you select a different soft serve flavor, vanilla, chocolate, swirl or a lilited time flavor. Honestly they could have 2 or 3 more options of soft serve - 3 isn't a lot. Then you select a swirl in the cone like Nutella, cookie butter or peanut butter and 1-4 toppings and a drizzle. They carefully fill your cone with the swirl and a little topping on the bottom, fill half the cone with soft serve and top it, then do the top and add toppings and drizzle it. The soft serve was good but unremarkable. The topping were good but again, just average froyo stuff . I though it was good, but then I got to the cone! That's the star of the show. The cone was delicious. I wish it was bigger and maybe even less ice cream. It's worth trying, it's fun and different. They had fruit filled cones and seems like they change things up frequently. Crispy Cones is a fun dessert shop that serves hand-rolled dough cones grilled rotisserie-style and coated in cinnamon sugar or specialty flavors. To be honest, I couldn't tell much difference between that and the regular cinnamon sugar coating. It was also a lot more messy eating that--there were crumbs all over the table and on my pants (be careful if you're wearing nice clothing!). It was yummy though! The cone was warm, soft, and slightly crispy on the outside since they make them fresh. It did make my ice cream melt very fast though. As for the ice cream, I didn't find it anything extraordinary. I think they focus more on the cone than the ice cream, but I think they should invest a little more in the ice cream and make it creamier. It's definitely a unique dessert experience. The shop was clean and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Prices are a bit on the higher side--around $8 for a cone with ice cream and toppings. My 1 and a half year old daughter loved this place! We got the specialty cone of the month which had Oreos on it. We got it spread with cookie butter, chocolate ice cream and topped with peanut butter cups and drizzled with cookie butter. It was fantastic. It was just super messy though. If he hadn't checked out over 30 years ago, I would really enjoy listening to his hot takes on Bidenomics. In any case, my only actual criticism is that I wish they used more premium ice cream. My chief complaint about Cold Stone is that they use mediocre ice cream propped up by excessive mix-ins and though the ice cream here isn't as low end as Cold Stone's, it would be cool if it were more at the level of Ben & Jerry's. Super clean with the black on white theming and very high tech with their ordering system* and their touchless water station. We really wanted to like this place. It's a unique idea and something we were excited to try. The cone itself isn't bad, but you have to get through so much low quality soft serve to get to it that you are kind of over the whole experience before you get to the cone. I would suggest asking for half the ice cream, which is not good anyway, and just eating the cone with a little ice cream on the side. Giving them one star for the order process - I like the self ordering system and another star because the staff was friendly. The cones take FOREVER to make. We waited almost 30 minutes and there were only a few people ahead of us. At first, I thought they were just understaffed, but after 30 minute of observing their processes, it's pretty clear that this is just a time consuming task. It is not scalable, and if they are successful in attracting crowds, the wait is going to be a huge problem for them. I hope they are able to figure out a way to scale the operation and find a better soft-serve supplier. So excited about the newest ice cream shop in town! Crispy cones is clean, upscale and in a great location. There is plenty of parking but they could use more seating inside. You walk in and order at a self pay kiosk where you can easily see all the menu options. We were surprised to see that the cone was over $8 (after tax) but we had high hopes! We tried the huckleberry (weekly flavor) in a regular cone with strawberries on top. We also got the chocolate cone (monthly special) with Nutella spread, chocolate ice cream and cookie dough topping. The ice cream itself was delicious! You can tell it's a higher quality soft serve. The toppings were tasty but kind of sparse and I wished there were more. Definitely get a spread for your cone. It totally elevates the experience! The cones themselves were soft and yummy; especially the chocolate one!! Surprisingly this ice cream shop is not kid friendly. The cups the cones come in are super small so all they do is catch the drip on the bottom, but then the cone is top heavy and there's nowhere for the rest of the drips/mess to go! Our table was kind of a disaster and the napkins were not very absorbent. I also didn't see any high chairs. My recommendations for the new shop would be to add more seating inside and out, including a few high chairs, get more absorbent napkins, and maybe decrease the price of the cones by a dollar. Got a great chance to go to Crispy cones today with a friend. The inside of the building was nicely clean and looked great. Customer service was spectacular. Very nice and caring about making sure that our crispy cones were really made done well. I ordered the vanilla with caramel sauce my friend ordered chocolate with Nutella filling and Nutella sauce on top with white chocolate chip. They were both really well done. The cone was delicious. A fresh, handmade, soft bread cone, is dipped and cinnamon and sugar or their flavor of the week. Ice cream flavors are pretty classic, they always have vanilla, chocolate, swirl and flavor of the week. The menu is simple, pick your cone, pick a filling that they spread inside the cone (my favorite is peanut or cookie butter), pick your soft serve, add a topping...that's it. The place is fairly small, and depending on the day or week it may be standing room only. Service is great and if you'd prefer to order at your leisure they have self ordering stations, good for large groups. Plan to wait a few minutes because each cone is made to order. It's on the pricier side, a basic cone will be around $8, so not a bad place for a cheap date, but may be more expensive for a large family. They have free water which is great because ice cream always makes me thirsty. My favorite combination is their cinnamon sugar cone, with cookie butter, vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. The fun part is watching the process of how they cook and prepare the bread. To add to the visual presentation, pieces of fruit nuts, chocolate or whatever you have selected is placed on the ice cream, itself, which just enhances the taste and experience. The staff was very kind and informative when you had questions. The service was a little slow, but that is always expected when you're opening a new location and getting everyone up to speed on the logistics. We visited this restaurant this week and I thought they would have more allergy friendly options or maybe even have a larger variety of flavors but they don't. It's super basic. I have dietary restrictions and so there was nothing I could even try. (Dairy free and gluten free.) They have a sign at the front as an allergy warning that basically everything could be an allergy. My husband ordered a cone with twist soft serve, Biscoff, cookie butter. The soft serve was the same you can get anywhere so the only unique part is the bread cone which was a bit undercooked but he rated it overall a 4/10. We don't think it's worth the hype. However if you just want some ice cream give it a try and see for yourself. As for me I won't be back. We stopped in around 9:40 pm on a Saturday evening. The business is new, so it's not surprising that it was so busy. We were able to order quickly at an iPad kiosk...and then we waited for more than 25 minutes to get our single cone. We finally got a text saying our cone was done, and we went to the counter to get it, only to see them throw it away because they had made a mistake. But since they had marked it done, they immediately forgot about our order and then proceeded to make others. We eventually had to remind them to make ours. As others have said, there's not enough space to sit (at least on a weekend night), so the place is full of people standing around for, again, 20+ minutes waiting for their $8 soft serve cone. When it finally came, we were surprised to see that ordering a strawberry topping meant exactly seven small pieces of strawberry dotting the sides. It was about 1.5 small strawberries. And the amount of Nutella sauce on the outside of the cone was nothing like the pictures that are on the video monitors throughout the store. Obviously, there's some advertising at play, but plenty of other similar dessert concepts have the decency to make what they hand you look a lot more like what's on the screen. How did it taste? Pretty good. But it's just about the messiest dessert I've ever had. The container is barely enough for the cone and then the ice cream towers above it. Every single person in there was clearly having trouble figuring out how to eat it. We ended up dumping the soft serve into a larger water cup and then trying to eat what was left in the little cup...where there was melted ice cream that kept spurting out according to Archimedes's principle. Both of us ended up with ice cream spraying into our laps. If I were to go back, I'd probably get just the cone without the ice cream. But that would still cost more than $6.50, and that seems like a huge expense when I can go to Rockwell, get served a lot faster, and not get dirty afterward. Plus, they won't charge me a $0.13 "convenience fee" on the iPad or try to force me into tipping before anyone has done anything for me yet.
