Best thing to happen to alpine! When I first moved into alpine the local bakery was just shutting down which was a bummer. When I heard of a new local bakery opening I was very excited! I've gone several times with my brother and my mom to check it out. The people are very nice and friendly and the bread and pastries are delicious! Fast and friendly, pricey and not so great. This is the third time I have tried this place hoping for improvement. I bought two slides of quiche and a croissant. It came to over $34. The quiche is extremely cheesy and not much else. The cheese is good just too much and no other flavor. I bought a slice of the tomato and a slice of broccoli. Both bland. The croissant is a disappointment. Not crispy but soggy, doesn't taste like a buttery croissant should. Taste like refrigerator dough. We drove by and could smell the bakery, so we turned around and went back and I'm so glad we did! So much to choose from. This blueberry croissant is delicious. We also got a ham and cheese croissant. The croissants are huge and flaky and buttery. Yum! I like the coffee too. The customer service is perfect! We tried this place off of recommendation from a friend. My wife and I had the Quiche and it was a disappointment, to reheat I believe they used a microwave so the crust was soggy and there was so much cheese it wouldn't hold together. The temp outside was in the 30's and the doors were wide open and the heat was off so eating inside was out of the question. We asked about that and the girl said they have to leave the doors open or nobody will know they're Open. I would recommend Janet's down the street. read more

I picked this little bakery in Alpine, California this morning for my family to try some treats! Let's just say the customer service was amazing! The owner who was working by herself helped recommend some of the best coffee and macaroons I have tried in the San Diego area. They were so flakey and delicious. The strawberry verbena and raspberry macaroons were my favorite flavors! Definitely grab a cinnamon roll while you're there and some snickerdoodle cookies. Wanted to support a small business after seeing this bakery on KUSI. The cinnamon roll and the blueberry scone that I split with my gf were both dry and average at best. The iced coffee I had was weak. Not worth the drive from Chula Vista to Alpine and no bathroom for customers that need to pee. read more

We always try to support our local businesses. When we entered we were greeted by a cheerful young lady by the name of Emily. The bakery had quite a variety of breads and pastries. The wife and I had a jalepeno cheese ham pastry and the wife had an apple turnover along with a coffee. The total came out to $16. A little expensive for the three items, but we had to try some goodies. The jalepeno ham and cheese pastry was good, but the apple turnover didn't have hardly any apple and it tasted burnt. I live in Alpine and have been to Crobean a number of times and have not had the same luck as some of the other Yelpers. I went to Crobean a few days ago and purchased two large cinnamon rolls that were sitting uncovered and exposed on top of a glass counter. It is my understanding that bakeries, donut shops, etc., cannot leave baked goods or food exposed at any time when it could be touched by customers and particularly not now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and should have known better than to order anything that is left out and sitting exposed to people. However, I purchased the two cinnamon rolls and when I brought them home, none of my family members could eat the rolls and everyone agreed that they were tasteless, dry, hard, and inedible. When we took a small piece of one of the cinnamon rolls, (approximately 3 inches), it tasted somewhat like stale bread. The cinnamon rolls were not soft or gooey and tasted like bread that was peppered with cinnamon and it was slightly burned on the top and dried out. I asked my daughter to return the two cinnamon rolls and ask to exchange them for something else. My daughter handed the bag of cinnamon rolls to Heather, one of the owners, who disputed my daughter's comments that the bread was inedible and she took the bag and squeezed the bag saying "see it's still soft, even though it's a day old." Heather told my daughter to heat the rolls and said, "you'll love it." Heather did not allow my daughter to choose from other bakery choices and said my daughter could have two croissants and embarrassed my daughter in front of other customers. I paid approximately $13.00 for the rolls; however, this isn't about the money, it is the principle of the matter and the manner in which Heather responded to my daughter's simple request to return both cinnamon rolls for something she would like. My family and I will never go back to Crobean again and it's too bad as their bread, especially the Gruyere cheese and green onion is delicious. read more

So I saw this establishment on KUSI and it looked really good on the T.V. So I took a ride out there with an open mind and an open wallet. I knew I was gonna spend a pretty penny. (That's how it goes at French Bakery's here in the states. I bought a baguette, chocolate croissant, a dozen French Macaroons and an Iced tea lemonade with lavender. The baguette was nothing special, the croissant well lets just say... Nay, no good and neither was the macaroons. 3 of the 12 macaroons were good. The others not so much, just sugar. The Ice tea had no lavender flavor at all. And all this was 48 dollars. A lot of money, yet like I said I was going with an open mind and wallet. I went back the next day and ordered another tea hoping it would be better. And I got a large tea and it was 7 dollars. 7 dollars for a tea. Way to much and again, no lavender flavor and very very sweet. But like I said, No lavender flavoring. Their Bagel's are much to big for me. I mean they are very large. They don't even look good. The cinnamon rolls also the same, looked all dried out. So for me... Not a fan. Won't be going back. Really was look forward to a good bakery. read more

Heather and her Husband rise early every day to turn out delish Breads ( multigrain, wheat, sourdough, French Baguettes, Jalapeño cheddar, artichoke & Herb, rosemary Olive, etc) as well as a multitude of croissants, scones, muffins, French pastry tarts, macaroons, cookies, pies, cinnamon rolls, savory & sweet Danish ( croissants) , zucchini bread, banana bread, etc.They also have a great menu of Hot and iced Coffee drinks ( lattes, cappuccinos, mocha's, teas and Mexican hot chocolate). We tried the Sourdough & the Jalapeño Cheddar as well as the Apple Danish , a lemon tart & a fresh berry tart. The Sourdough could use more " sourness " in the starter in our humble opinion but otherwise good and the Jalapeño cheddar was great toasted with a nice cheese crust and great heat from the Jalapeño.
