Our experience from the beginning to end was nothing less than EXCELLENT! We got fast and same day appt, immediately when we walked in, we were greeted with such warm and loving energy; which we all needed because of the shock of the trauma. Even the customers waiting in the lobby were so sweet to our Brady and family! They got us back to see Brady's nurse almost immediately, the nurse was so kind and loving, and once the nurse walked out, Dr. Leigh came right in afterwards to give him the best care. Before we left we got 2 medications for our Brady and the nurse made it so easy for us by cutting up the meds into smaller sizes, then the doctor provided a can of dog food to mix the meds in with, and it worked like a charm! Our top priority was making sure our Brady gets the best care possible but I would be lying if I didn't tell you that I was not worried about the cost of his visit. But Arnold Vet made it affordable to care for our dog and they did not "up charge" us like other vet offices would have. I can't recommend this vet office enough! I wish I would have caught it sooner for me to bypass some unneeded emotional damage. Once I finally did pick up on the signs I immediately looked for a nearby vet. But on a Sunday, there aren't many open. My choices were two emergency vets that were equal distances away. As you can see, I chose this one. On my way here, I was all in my emotions and almost bypassed the building. Luckily for me, I caught it at the last minute and whipped around. When I went in there was no hesitation about being seen. They are a digital establishment. Scan the QR code, fill in your information, and wait to be seen. I sat in the waiting room for what felt like an eternity, but we all feel that way in a time of need. Finally a vet tech came to see me and ask what was going on. I started to talk and only broke down instead. I was escorted in a room and they took my cat for a set of vitals. I was at that point where I thought she was attempting to cross that rainbow bridge. Instead, after the vitals and some talking to the vet, it was decided as to what was going on. I also want to thank them for being upfront with information. I was informed that they already know what it is and a course of treatment or I could spend a lot more money to do tests and come to the same conclusion. After a good cry I came to my senses and went with their suggested treatment. This was an emotionally exhausting day. Made a bit better by a good team at this place. My cat, upon returning home, was very lethargic because of the antibiotic and pain medication given. She was out of sorts for a bit, but back to normal within the timeframe quoted by this team.

The staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty were amazing from the moment we walked in. They were extremely thorough while showing such care and concern for Duke. They explained what was happening, were transparent about the cost, and gave an honest assessment of the prognosis for our baby. Dr. S explained our options and gave us time to process everything. She answered all our questions and reassured us that there was no right or wrong way to go. Ultimately, we made the heartbreaking decision to let Duke go and she supported it, agreeing it was the kindest choice given his age, prognosis, and his current state. When I asked her what she would do for her own fur baby given the circumstances, Dr. S was transparent and told us she would do the same. That gave us a small bit of comfort that we weren't rushing into it prematurely. Dr. S gave us referrals to a few vets who could come to our home to help us with Duke's final care. We chose Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, who were equally wonderful during such a horrible time. We appreciate all of the staff at Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty, from the folks at the front desk to the nurses and doctors. There were small things that I appreciated... when they brought our baby to us, they put down a plush blanket so he could be comfortable and not laying directly on the floor. Also, right before we left, one of the nurses even came in to say goodbye to Duke and tell him he was a sweet boy. She loved on him and that small gesture will always stick with me. I thank everyone for showing such love and support during one of the most difficult times in my family's life. They truly care about not only your pet, but you as the owner and your worries, wants, needs, etc. Dr. Porteous is VERY sweet and thoughtful, my dog was fixed and she called to check on her before they closed for the day and it being my first dog, (actually child because that is how much I adore her) I was nervous and to me it seemed as if she was not feeling well and was in pain. Dr. Porteous and a staff member stayed over an hour after they had closed to wait for me to get there so she could check my dog and make sure everything was okay (which of course it was) and even gave her a little extra pain medication to make her comfortable. None of this was of any charge to me because Dr. Porteous didn't care about making money off of my anxiety, but she truly cared about MY dog. They're very quick to squeeze you in as an appointment if need be and the visits never require a long wait in the lobby/exam room. I have moved and have a vet within walking distance, but never has it crossed my mind to take my dogs elsewhere because I truly do not trust anyone besides everyone at Four Legs. Keep up the great work, Four Legs. You surely exceed many, many businesses overall!

Earlier this year we adopted three kittens and decided to try 4 Legs since they are local to Davidsonville. So many amazing things to say. 1 it's a small practice with a family atmosphere. From the front desk staff to the technicians to Dr Kiely. They all care and provide great customer service. 2. It's really easy to get an appointment. No waiting for weeks to be seen - this team makes room for you. 3. They don't push you into services you don't need. I never felt pressured to do lab work or unnecessary services. 4. Their prices were way more competitive than our last vet - they even accepted a new client discount coupon we received in the mail! 5. They have sent me electronic reminders to set up my cats follow on appointments. Overall I'm thrilled that we found them and that we are able to support a local small owned business near our home! It's been about a month since our experience with Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Hospital, and…read moreI've been wanting to share this. Our anxious 9-year-old dog, Bubba, had been sick for about a day and a half--vomiting, not eating, and not drinking water. At one point, he seemed to be improving, but around 5 a.m. on Easter morning, he was panting and pacing. We knew we had to take him to the ER. We were especially anxious because of our past traumatic vet visits, but we called ahead and were told they were still working through overnight patients and to bring him in so they could monitor him. Despite how weak he was--we had been carrying him up and down three flights of stairs--he insisted on walking into the ER himself. They took him to triage right away, and after a few hours (less than we expected), we were brought back to a room. Dr. Fleury came in, asked thoughtful questions, and recommended additional testing. We shared our past experiences and anxiety, and she was incredibly empathetic and reassuring. She made it clear that she wanted this experience to be different from the negative ones we had before--and she truly followed through on that. She suggested we go home while tests were being run. A couple of hours later, she called with an update: while most results looked normal, they found fluid in his abdomen and a mass near his trachea. She explained that an ultrasound could provide more clarity, but it wouldn't be available until the next day. We could either bring him home or admit him overnight. Although we had never left him before, we chose to admit him so he could be monitored and asked if we could see him again first. She immediately said yes. When we returned, the hospital was much busier, but we were brought fairly quickly to a quiet, private room that seemed away from the noise of other dogs. Dr. Fleury reviewed the X-rays with us, and it was clear things were serious. When she brought Bubba in, we could see he had declined--his belly was distended, his eyes were glazed, and he seemed uncomfortable and restless. Dr. Fleury stayed with us, explaining that even after consulting with colleagues, they couldn't determine the exact cause without more testing. She also understood our concern about leaving him overnight, especially if his condition worsened. We were both overwhelmed, and she handled the situation with incredible compassion. After spending time with Bubba, we came to the heartbreaking realization that he was suffering, and the dog we knew wasn't really there anymore. It was the hardest decision we've ever had to make, but we knew it was time. We spoke with Dr. Fleury again and asked her to be honest about his chances. She explained that while more testing was possible, there were no guarantees, and he could continue to decline. Through tears, we told her we didn't want him to suffer any longer. She gently agreed it was likely the best decision and supported us fully. From there, everything was handled with such care. The staff gave us time, space, blankets, and quiet guidance through the process. When the time came, Dr. Fleury and a vet tech sat with us on the floor. My wife held Bubba, and we were both there with him in his final moments. It was peaceful, and we were able to say goodbye with dignity and love. Afterward, we were given as much time as we needed and were able to leave quietly through a side door. Later, we received a handwritten condolence card from Dr. Fleury, which meant so much to us. Losing Bubba was devastating, but the compassion, patience, and humanity shown by Dr. Fleury and the entire team made an unbearable experience feel as gentle as it possibly could have been. She set out to ensure this would not be another traumatic vet experience for us--and despite the heartbreaking outcome, she did exactly that. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We are deeply grateful we ended up here. While we hope we don't need emergency care again anytime soon, we know exactly where we would go and who we would trust.

We only…read morehad to wait a few moments when she came back to advise we should seek medical attention for our 8mo old miniature dachshund for ingesting a cob of corn. She did tell us it was a busy night (when we got there--it was overwhelming to see the various cases they were dealing with), and said even if we don't decide to wait at their facility we should take her to be seen. We decided to visit this emergency clinic anyway, and I'm very glad they handled her with so much caution and care. The vet assistant who triaged us came back multiple times with updates after our puppy was taken back (~1hr) and thanked us for our patience. It's important to note that while we were waiting with (and for) our puppy, multiple dogs came in on stretchers. Dr. McCullen was incredibly thorough and reassuring, while also being practical and rational.. we appreciated the extra step in providing an estimate for our services to that point. Albeit our case was not as severe or life-threatening as the others we saw, we still feel like we made the right decision coming in that night and I'm thankful our puppy was in the care of the right members of staff. I know they did their best with what they were dealt with and I'm very appreciative for their kindness and compassion. Our puppy is doing just great now.

Bel Air Animal Hospital likely killed my dog…read more Owen was brought in because he was coughing, struggling to breathe, vomiting, lethargic, and rapidly deteriorating from an apparent allergic reaction to meds given by this vet. Per their notes, they administered something for nausea, then sent him home. Six hours later, the emergency hospital ;(a different facility) diagnosed him with pneumonia. Less than 24 hours after leaving Bel Air Animal Hospital, he was dead. I can't help but question how such a serious condition was missed. Owen's care fell far below the standard I expected, and I will always wonder whether recognizing his pneumonia sooner could have saved his life. If your pet is clearly getting worse and your instincts tell you something is wrong, don't hesitate to get a second opinion. I only wish we had. I love you Owen, rest easy my boy.

He was so incredibly kind and supportive as Bear went through surgery and post surgery. Within two months he was walking again (thank you VOSM - Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine). As a result, because Dr Murphy practiced at Belair Veterinary Hospital, I began bringing Bear to Belair. For the first year, service was great because Dr Murphy was our vet. Then, sadly, he left and with it, good service. Since then, it has been a series of miscommunications, poor care, poor management and in the end, a veterinary hospital chain more concerned with its bottom line than good veterinary care. DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG! Please note the comment below from their manager Peter. This is the kind of unprofessional lack of accountability typical of this business at this point. I was not abusive with anyone on their staff. Sadly, asking questions that seek to explain their business practices leads to agitated incomplete answers, deflection and combativeness.
