I need to visit here more. The skillman has a cozy ambiance, the burgers are high quality and the Bloody Mary was too good not to have seconds - They made the Bloody Mary gods proud, you'll be surprised how many places ruined it. Our server was amazing so thank you to her ! This place is probably a neighborhood fav and I understand why

We go here sometimes for brunch or dinner. I like quiet place and food is amazing. Staffs are very nice, no rushing or pushing. Today we had brunch and everything was delicious,so we finished 3plates. Irish coffee is good as well. I love this place especially during weekends or my special day. -Irish coffee -steak & egg -breakfast flat bread -omelet for the day

One of the few places open for lunch. We opted for the lunch special, sandwich & beer. Roast beef with Swiss Cheese and a Guinness The sandwich was very tasty and came with thin French fries, crunchy and golden. I had met a friend that I had not seen in a while. A leisure lunch and a nice conversation with my friend. The place only had a couple of people by the long bar. Service was attentive.

I like their chicken salad sandwich . Roomy pub has outdoor sidewalk seating too, which is nice in this quiet tree lined neighborhood. Nice big windows make it open and appealing. I would go here for lunch when I worked in the neighborhood. I always got the chicken salad sandwich, add swiss. The fries are bangin, shoestring. Always hot and fresh. Service is quick and friendly.

Lovely place! Great drinks and a cute little backyard. The servers are incredibly nice and its pretty packed on a Thursday. I recommend the Spiked Lemonade, truly a delicious and refreshing drink for a summer night. We ordered the steak bits, which was fine. A little too much pepper on the steak + maybe some sauce would've been nice, but still a good time! Hope to come back for another trivia night, which was what drew us to this place.

    Avocado toast with poached eggs

Met up here for Saturday brunch to sit curbside (for pupper purposes) and hang out with my core group. New Yorkers have been brunching since before it was cool and the Skillman understands that. We don't always need a view with our meal, but we do need a darn good meal, and I was a very happy camper with the avocado toast - poached egg and all. The Skillman is a play on the street name but also a nod of the skill it takes to craft a good meal. And there were no bones about it, you'll be happy with whatever you find here. I don't normally order poached eggs but I do enjoy a poached egg for sure. I'm just learning how to perfect them at home, so why not order it and remind myself how it's supposed to be done. I think mine was a teensy bit overcooked, but it's still miles better than the first time I poached an egg. I ordered the mimosa with my meal- there's no bottomless option here. Another issue was the table. Our waiter insisted it was rocking because of the uneven side walk, but, the sidewalk was even where we were sitting. My friend and I had to be careful because one uncalculated move and breakfast would have easily been on either of our laps.

I came here for breakfast with my friend. We didn't plan to go here, but the one we wanted to go to open in the afternoon. We refused to wait and decided to pursue our hunger game! I ordered French Toast, and my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict. I enjoyed my French Toast that was served with some fruit. I also had it with two eggs Sunnyside up. They make French Toast the correct way by using fresh bread. Then they sprinkled the toast with fine sugar. Fantastic breakfast! I will come back for another round. My friend liked the egg benedict here too!

Montefiore's (Weiler campus) operating room & now critical care team would like to thank you and the rest of your staff for the generous food donation. Everything provided was delicious and we appreciate it very much. Many thanks again! #RestaurantsSupportFrontliners2020 #FoodFuelToFightCovid19

I haven't even gotten my food yet but this review is solely for the Bloody Mary. I usually refrain from getting a Bloody Mary at brunches because they are lackadaisical and watered down. This thing is a meal, and truly thought for. Peppery and with a lovely horseradish dab. I can't wait for my food to come.

Halloween brunch at The Skillman was fantastic! It was great to enjoy this beautiful day with great coffee and delicious Eggs Benedict & Omelet. Everyone's as dressed up they were giving away little treat boxes for the kids who were dining and candies for r everyone trick or treating in the neighborhood. Fabulous Halloween Brunch!

Service was good, friendly staff! But everything was mediocre, nothing impressive. The best part of the food was the fries & the beer. We got wings & a burger. We wanted the burger medium done but it was more towards well. We wouldn't go back unless we have to, this place wouldn't be our first pick.

The Skillman. Croissant with prosciutto eggs and cheese. And a side of arugula salad.

I saw her greet and hug multiple regulars like old friends -- it's clear she knows everyone and they adore her. She's only behind the bar Monday through Friday, so make sure you stop by when she's there! And I'm sure the weekends are great too! Actual neighborhood pubs are few and far between in Long Island City, especially around Hunters Point, so this place is a breath of fresh air. PJ's has been around for a while and it shows -- it's well-established, locally owned, and run by someone who truly knows what makes a great bar. The menu is massive and everything is priced like happy hour all the time -- no need for one because it's already that affordable. (Sadly I did not get any photos of my food because I engulfed them immediately!) The French onion soup is one of the best I've ever had, and the fish and chips are excellent. Regulars rave about the shepherd's pie, turkey dinners (and the fresh turkey and turkey sandwich -- real turkey, not deli slices!), and wings, so those are next on my list. They also run great daily specials: * Prime rib with potato and vegetable for just $27 (Sun-Thurs) * Burger and a beer for $12 (Mon-Wed) * Irish specials on Tuesdays ($13.95 for shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, or fish and chips) It's right off the 7 train at Vernon Blvd-Jackson Ave -- super convenient for a quick drink or bite before heading home, or to stay for the day. Come to PJ's -- you won't be disappointed! PS the music is soooo good and perfect volume on with Bridget's playlist.

Despite it being a hot day, the soup wasn't scorching hot so it hit the spot, and the grilled cheese was great. We felt bad for the one bartender having to work with so many people during a busy World Cup afternoon, but she did a great job. I had a wagon with me because I went to pick up a donation for my dance school. I figured it was perfect to sit outside. I opened the door and two women turned around and looked at me with blank stares. I asked if they were open. They responded yes. I asked if they were serving on the patio. They said, "Yeah, "you can go out there. " (Awkward) I sat outside. I waited at least 10 minutes before one of them came out and yelled from the door as she walked towards me, "Are you going to choose something? " (Even more awkward) I said yes with my back to her waiting for her to walk over to me to take my order. She stands beside me and takes my order then proceeds to tell me that she needs my credit card for the order. She worded it a little strangely. I questioned her reason as I wasn't drinking alcohol. She repeated the same strange reason which for me was code for: WE DON'T TRUST YOU. YOU MIGHT RUN OFF WITHOUT PAYING! I told her no thank you and I got up and left. She quickly said okay and went back inside. I was a little angry. I tossed the paper coaster on the floor. My experience today. Not a good feeling about that restaurant. I wished there were others there so I coukd ask if she required that they leave a card to eat on the patio also. I've never been asked that before. Chime in! I'm at a different place enjoying crepes on the patio. #Woodbines SN: A friend just informed me that he ate at this same place once and got terrible food poisoning. OMG! I am a sucker for this famous British/Irish deep fried goodness. Well, I can say without a doubt that this version is excellent (8.5/10) as described. The dish comes with three pieces that are crispy and tender. However, they gotta make a better tartar sauce than the ones they served in packets. Also, we switched out chips for onion rings. They were fantastic! I also really enjoyed their French Onion Soup (8/10) and the Shepherds Pie (7.5/10). The soup was flavorful without being too salty like most restaurants, while the pie had relatively fluffy mash potato with tasty ground beef mixture. The only item that was a slight letdown was the Chicken Pot Pie (6/10). The puff pastry was decent and so was the cream sauce. The problem was the overcooked and dry chicken breast meat. Our server was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. Btw, even though the space was basically a dive bar, the energetic 60's and 70's music was definitely a plus. Therefore, I gave it a slightly higher score for decor. All in all, this was a great experience.
