Paid 40 plus dollars for old food, fried fish batter was morbidly soft, no crispiness what so ever, batter on fish and shrimp slid off and flopped as if it was the skin, sweet potato fries were limp and cold, mac and cheese had hard old pasta and a cheap flavor on top of also being cold, burger was decent but catfish house has better all around food for better prices. I paid 40 plus dollars and got the quality of a 5 dollar meal. When I let the manager know she said everything is fresh to order and they cant prep fries, if this was fresh they need to throw the chef away, all manager said is that she is sorry and will let the kitchen staff know. This place is the best thing to happen to Crestview in 30 years. Great food. If you are looking for heat. I highly recommend The Don's Burn Notice Wings. Went on a Saturday night and they had a pretty good crowd. Able to get a table pretty quick though. Menus is mainly hamburger variations with a couple of other sandwiches. My wife got a dish with a blackened chicken breast over brown rice with a cream sauce drizzled on top, said it was really good but the side of broccoli was meh. I got a cheeseburger, it was solid would eat it again. Nice to have a new option to eat at, Hope they will continue to tweak their menu. read more

We tried the Crooked Tale Gastro Pub today for a late lunch with our 10 year old. When we arrived there were about 5 people at the bar and 4 other tables seated. The atmosphere is laid back and the service, even with so few customers was EXTREMELY slow... I would hate to go in during peak hours for food.. The burgers were Ok, typical burgers, the fries were home cut but not crispy at all (soggy). The Pretzel appetizer was very good. The prices are a tad high... The waiter was friendly... I cannot find anything to complain about when it comes to this restaurant, honestly my favorite in Crestview.

I have a diabetic girlfriend and we waited so long that the food almost sent her into a serious Low and the food Was so salty it was inedible on top of that we waited an hour and a half for a $40 tab at all we got was a hamburger a plate of hot wings and two cokes which is ridiculous for it to A: cost $40 and B: for it to take an hour and a half I will not be returning I suggest you don't either save your money and go elsewhere read more

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I should have taken them not answering the phone when my husband and I both called ten times before heading in for dinner as a sign to stay away. We arrived and were told it would be a ten minute wait for our party, which we were fine with. We told the hostess we called ten times to which she responded, "I don't know why no one answered, our phone lines are working. Can you try calling?" My husband called, and she responded by saying "yeah our phones are working, we just have the phone set to silent that's why we didn't answer" ?????? Her nonchalant attitude about it was really was alarming. We called ten times? Anyways, we were seated almost immediately and ordered our drinks. It took twenty minutes to get three beers and wine to the table. WHY? It should not take twenty minutes to get drinks. I don't care how new this restaurant is. This was ridiculous. Not to mention that the wine came in a TINY stemless wine glass that was almost filled to the rim. That is not how wine should be served. Next, the food. Everything about the service was sloppy. The restaurant was way too busy for them to only have two servers. There was a point where we counted twenty plates at the window waiting to go to their tables and it sat there for a good for a good for to five minutes. Our food arrived before our appetizers. When we brought this to our servers attention she said "your appetizers will arrive after your meal and they're on us" Again, WHAT??!! My daughters Mac and cheese was super cold, my burger was not cooked to well done- it was medium and my bread was burned pretty bad. They plated it with the burnt side down so I couldn't tell until I bit into it. I love a nicely toasted bun, but this was burnt and the taste was horrible and overpowered the burger. We were not asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks or if we even wanted dessert. But I'm sure by that point our disappointment was written all over our faces. When we got the check we noticed they only took one appetizer off not the other two, but at that point we didn't care and didn't want to wait forever for them to fix it. I get a new place working out it's kinks, but this was ridiculous and not enjoyable at all. I was really looking forward to having good food and a good dining experience since I don't eat fast food and that's all there seems to be around here, but my family and I will not be really returning. read more

This place is horrible. I had family visiting from out of town and was embarrassed i took them to this place. Took 20 mins to get beer, they were out of 3 items on the menu and the food came out cold. The kitchen was pumping out food but the servers had no idea what they were doing. I feel bad to give them a bad rating. I usually just let it go but this place is shameful. Also they have an "on tap" beer menu of maybe 20 different types of beer but no description of what kind of beer they are. When i asked about one of the beers i was told "its like a bud lite"... who drinks bud lite from a tap? Lol anyways, place is trash, the people next to us weren't very happy either. Went for early lunch. Just one other table occupied. The food was slow in coming out. It appears that kitchen was understaffed. Not a fast in and out for lunch situation. So don't go if you have limited time for lunch. Our sandwiches were good. There was a good amount of toppings on them. A little pricey, but ok. The vegetables as a side were really flavorful, not your typical dry veggie. Must try for the food/carb/calorie conscious. Fries came out a bit too cold. Waitress tried really hard and was as attentive as possible. Will go again for update and hopefully award more stars. I would actually give it another half star for now.... read more

My mother's 85th birthday was New Year's Eve and I ordered 40 wings of five different flavors from the Crooked Tale to help feed our guests. The managers (Bobbie and Megan) went above and beyond to make sure our order was sufficient for the quest and the compliments we received by the quests were outstanding! Sorry Crooked Tale, I won't be back. Understandably things happen but we had a group of 18 - we had 2 servers taking care of us. Drinks came out fine but when it came to the food...that's another story. They would yell out what the dish was for people to claim. The restaurant was not busy - we were the majority of customers in the place. We arrived at Crooked Tale at 615 pm and by 8 pm, 1 in our group still had not been served. Initially he was given the side salad (which leaves a lot to be desired - it was merely a small plate with the toppings for a burger). They brought out 3 wrong dishes (wrong kind of burger; fish tacos, & fish & chips) and by that I mean completely not what was ordered. Of course, everyone in the group had finished their meal and the server, who was apologetic, asked if he still wanted his BURGER and he said no just forget it. Well, it was brought out anyway in a to-go box. Then the check arrives...and we were charged full price for the meal. When it was brought to her attention that he didn't get to eat with everyone, she took it and came back with a $2 discount!! Great customer service!! Not a good way to start business. Do you think I'll recommend Crooked Tale? Not so much :( read more
