first off let me start by saying croppers towing & tire is the most inhumane, disgusting, and deplorable business i have ever had the displeasure of coming across.
my husband and i were in the process of moving from CT to NC with our 3 year old autistic son, our 2 month old new born daughter, and 2 senior cats. we were in a uhaul with a tow dolly and our personal vehicle attached to the back. on I-95 a tire on the u-haul blew out and we ended up in a ditch, despite telling the equally inhumane and disgusting state troopers u-haul roadside assistance was well on their way to help up this steaming pile they call a tow company Croppers was called in anyway. after spending over an hour on the side of the interstate in 100+ degree weather that we had already been sitting on for about 45 minutes, trying to get croppers , and the troopers to understand we had the situation handled, the red headed driver who looks like something straight out of the hills have eye's agreed with not only the troopers but roadside assistance to tow the equipment to a "safe" location and let uhaul do their job, and despite doing so they brought not only the truck loaded with mine and my childrens entire lives loaded in the back, but our personal vehicle with my animals inside as well all the way to the tow yard. my children, husband, and myself were escorted there by state troopers, and upon arrival i asked for them to detach the truck and my vehicle because after the accident i needed to ensure the well-being of my animals inside my car as it was over 100 degrees, we had just been in an accident, and i was denied access by the troopers initially and told to wait until we got to the tow yard that jeff made VERY clear was a tow yard and NOT an impound lot. they proceeded to unhook my vehicles and drive them over 100ft where they then backed it into their "tow yard" that's totally not an impound lot then later claimed it was "undrivable", and barricade it in with multiple junk cars assuring that we could not physically access it even if we wanted to, this whole time my animals remained in the sweltering hot car with no water and no way to stay cool. at this point i was begging for someone to tell me how i could go about getting my vehicles where they needed to be, telling them my cats were inside my personal vehicle and needed to get gotten out and checked on, the response i got was "come any closer and im gonna spit in your face" and then told if i wanted them i needed to pay them 50$, mind you i was holding my 2 month old daughter, instead of doing the right thing and getting my cats from my car they rolled up the windows to exacerbate their suffering. they refused to let us inside so my children could cool down as we had been suffering in the over 100 degree weather for over 4 hours at this point, and when i begged for water for my son who was sobbing uncontrollably because he was so hot and thirsty and everything i had of my own to provide him was locked in the u-haul that they said they'd shoot me if i went near they wouldn't even let me get my sons shoes or pants, yes my son was pants less and barefoot this entire time, they simply laughed amongst one another and said "i cant wait to get inside to the AC and have a nice cold water. at one point it started to rain despite the heat and the guy from the hills walks by me as im struggling to cover my children and says "oh it raining? do they need their blankets" to which i cried "yes please oh my god thank you" and with the most vile twisted grin on his face he laughed at me once more and said "too bad" and walked away to laugh it up some more with his co-workers. Dumfries VA police department arrive after another 45minutes and the employees at croppers continue to dehumanize me, my partner, and my children with the help of the police, while my cats remained locked in my personal vehicle, it was not until i begged 3 officers to help my cats that anyone even cared to do something about it. when the animal crate they were housed in was dropped at my feet and i checked on my cats my 13 year old ive had since he was born was limp and was sure he was dead, then as if to rub salt in our wounds the employees at croppers offered the cops on scene water, where luckily one of them had an ounce of decency and offered it to us. despite uhaul roadside being ready and on their way to handle the situation croppers refused to do business with ME so i asked police to tell them if they wont do business with me then to please do the business that needed to be done with uhaul, yet croppers refused. Dumfries PD supervisor comes on scene and is absolutely no help at all, when i explained the situation and told them i did not have the money for the hotel they were telling me to get for the night, i only had the money for the gas to get us the rest of the way to our destination that i needed his help because my children were suffering, he looked me in my face with my screeching overheated 2 month old in m read more
