I had the pleasure of meeting Q (Qasim) from Meineke , last friday in a rather unfortunate situation. Let me tell you, if you're looking for a mechanic- Q is the guy. I do not live in the Dumfries area, but if I did, I can tell you that I would not use anyone else if I could help it for my car maintenance needs. I have a 2018 Suburban, that hasn't given us any trouble. Traveling from out of town, my car went into shut down mode in the middle of I-95 on Friday around 5:30pm traffic. Luckily, I was able to use momentum to get off at the nearest exit where the vehicle locked out before I could properly pull into the nearest gas station. As a woman traveling alone I was obviously distressed by the situation. I tried to remedy the issue myself to no avail. I looked over and saw Meineke within walking distance, so I walked over as a last resort before calling a tow truck to see if they had a code reader, and would mind coming over. I walked in, and Q met me at the door. When I presented him with my situation he gladly offered to come over and assess the situation for me. He assured me of a couple different scenarios that could be happening, and a few options we may have. Once at the vehicle the code reader confirmed his predictions and he was able to quickly peform a reset. Poof! My vehicle was in good operating order again. If that wasn't enough, Q wanted to make sure that it was safe to continue to drive, knowing that I was traveling, so he brought it into the shop to double check a few things. He took his time explaining to me what all he was looking for, and what we would do if a problem arose. Luckily, all it needed was a reset of the battery, which we did, and it has been fine ever since. During my state of distress I hadn't paid much attention to time, just my nerves, and they weren't good. Once Q had assured me this was a fairly simple fix, and explained in detail what was going on, my anxiety about the situation dissipated, and I realized that Q was taking time after hours to help me in my unique situation. I tell this story in detail because not ony did Q quickly and efficiently get my vehicle up and running, but his attention to my state of distress, his kindness, and his desire to help me with my issue even when he would have to work late, speaks very highly of his character. I never felt like a burden, or that he was rushing through the situation. He truly cared to help a stranger in need. Q even took the time to show me in detail of another area that I should have checked out once I arrived home. I'm so thankful that I broke down near Q's shop. I truly believe that if I hadn't my situation might have been much different. Thanks to Q not only was the situation remedied quickly, but I had the opportunity to see that good people who want to help others do still exist. I will not forget Q's kindness to me, and I hope that others will try to give him their mechanical needs. It's people like Q that I want to support and see flourish in their business. I came here on a Friday at 4:30 pm to get a free break check. When I went in to request it I was basically told to come back another day because it would take 30 minutes to get to my vehicle and they closed "soon".... They close at 6. They could've gotten to my car by 5 pm. They were nonchalant about helping me, so I went 200 yards to the Jiffy Lube and they assisted me immediately. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Won't be coming back to this Meineke ever. This experience could have been improved with a willingness to work on my vehicle. read more

Always come to Meineke for exhaust work as their pricing is very competitive. Today I asked for a state inspection and was failed for front lights not being bright enough for others to see? Uh, they have LED bulbs but they say the plastic need rejuvenated and to pass its $79. 2nd issue is that my tires are from different manufacturers and they all have to match. 3rd issue is a weak engine mount for $400 to pass inspection. 4th issue, the rotors cannot have wear marks and they have to be flat causing uneven wear on brake pads. Wow, I will never come back to this Meineke ever again! This place is an upselling scam on your inspection. I recommend going anywhere else. They also tried to sell me on 4 tires saying the manufacturer has to be the same to pass inspection. I bet they get over on people everyday that just don't know about vehicles. Please go somewhere else for state inspections. read more

Terrible customer service. Made an appointment for 8am, and when I came in, I was asked to come back at 10am. Came back at 10am, and was asked to come back at 1pm. When I asked for a discount or anything for the inconvenience they completely shut me down and just said "no discounts. we don't have availability". I confirmed with him that I made an appointment and wasn't a walk-in, and he told me that he knew but he had a system restart and had to cancel my appointment. No apologies or nothing; acted as if I was an inconvenience. read more

Luke at this Meineke is AMAZING!!! He is extremely knowledgeable and helped get my oil change done as quickly as possible. He also noticed other minor problems with my car (failing ignition switch and a large covering beneath my car that was falling apart and needed reinforcement with screws) and recommended/implemented changes for improvement. He also gave me a discount on my total bill which was very helpful. Waiting area was nice 'n cool with air conditioning and video entertainment. KFC chicken is next door if you're hungry and want to grab a meal while you wait for your car to get repaired. I enjoyed my time at this Meineke and would definitely recommend this place to others. read more

Good professional people. No one tried to upsell me on any services which is a very common thing at car shops. I came in for a full synthetic oil change and they honored my 50% off coupon even though their store wasn't participating in the promotion. Dropped my car off and it was ready in an hour like promised. Fair warning that the parking lot is tight. Since there are other body shops nearby, you will find a lot of broken down cars occupying space. read more

I don't recommend this place the service is really bad. I walked in for an oil change but they refused to do it and said that I need to make an appointment which I did for next day. So as I assumed, the folks at Meineke didn't want to take time and do the quality of work necessary to resolve my issue. I've had the procedure done for the last few years without immediate failure of the work, but Meineke couldn't fix the issue after two attempts. I decided to take my SUV to a tire shop directly across the street and the same issue was resolved in an hour, that Meineke didn't resolve after more than half a day. The store manager even became disgruntled that I asked if they had performed a quality check before returning my car the initial time and not resolving the problem. Went in with an exhaust leak and they fixed it. Great customer service! My Virginia state inspection failed because of an exhaust leak, took it to this maineke location. The manager Asim was very helpful and precise on explaining where the leak was located, how the work was going to be done and the estimate for the job. Everything about the experience was excellent. I will continue to do business with that location and will recommend it to all family and friends. read more

I had a scheduled appointment for brake services. Walked in and wasn't helped for almost 10mins, which is fine -- I could see that they're busy. From the moment I mentioned what my appointment was this guy was immediately pushing for me to leave. They don't honor your appointment times. I could care less about the time it takes to do the service, but what's the point of an appointment if it's not honored? His whole demeanor changed from the second I said "brakes" and he was quite impolite. When I asked why my appointment time wasn't being honored he couldn't answer it and when I asked when my car would go in it was "hours from now". Totally unacceptable and no business should ever try to push a paying customer out of the door like he did. I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

Like a previous commenter, I also came here for brand loyalty. It seems every time I dome here, something is found that costs me a great deal to fix. Example #1: I got rear brakes done to pass VA state annual vehicle inspection - but discovered a problem during the next year's inspection. On one side, the rear brakes were worn very unevenly (one of the two was below specs, the other barely worn) - I was told by the first mechanic (who didn't know where I had it done) that it was initially done incorrectly. I took it back to this Meineke, and was told there were other issues that weren't caught before - bill to fix: over $600. I took it to another mechanic who fixed the issue for less than $200 - including my annual inspection. Example #2; Got front brakes done on an older vehicle. They told me there that they noticed issues with the back brakes which were going to cause me problems soon. After a $700 total estimate, I told them to perform the work. Front brakes worked fine, but the newly 'fixed' back brakes began jerking and gripping during braking. I took it back after 1 week, they fixed it again (no charge). Same problem recurred - I drove it to Stafford's Meineke (the next closest one!) for an evaluation - they told me there were multiple things missed which will run much more cash! I don't know enough to evaluate their competence, but is seems that I have more problems crop up than get fixed when I come here. read more

Mark and Jason are the best! My alternator went out recently and proved to be quite the handful as it turned out to be full of rust and difficult to remove to get the new one in it's place. The guys at the shop were patient and considerate throughout the ordeal and worked tirelessly to get the job done so I could head back home, about 40 miles north. Great customer service! read more

This location is our go-to. They give us accurate estimates and stick to them, the work is top-notch, and they don't jerk you around. Their prices are super-competitive, and the people working here go above and beyond. We've had work done on two different vehicles (a Toyota and a Hyundai), and they've worked on exhaust, A/C, and brakes at various points. We've had uniformly excellent service. I can't speak to oil changes, as we've never had them done here. read more

Friend strongly recommended them for changing my transmission fluid. Not only did they see me immediately, my car was on the lift in less than 5 minutes. They overcame a couple unexpected curve balls including a broken dip stick and got the job done. The owner and all 3 employees I worked with were great. I will drive the extra mile to go get good service. In my case I drove from SW DC because I couldn't find a good shop locally. This is worst shop in Dumfries, my review was removed. This shop is dishonest and attempts to stand on it. They will never own up to anything they do incorrect. Example is brakes; they are quick to sell you brakes even knowing they are not good at installing them. Had my brakes done and the calibers seized in one week, took it back and same results. Took it to a different shop and no issues. They will damage your car while in their possession and lie about it. Pay close attention to your receipt prior to service and after, as they will attempt to note something was broken on the updated receipt hoping you will sign. Bottom line, I advise you to avoid this place and keep your money and peace. read more

I was in Prince William County and I noticed a terrible sound from my car. There was a pipe hanging down underneath. I took it right over to this Meineke and they not only fit me in same day, but they provided me with excellent service. Once the car was lifted, the manager brought me out to see the damage and carefully explained my options. Instead of buying a whole new muffler (dealership quoted me some outrageous price), they were able to make a simple, custom repair (I did not need a whole new muffler) and it saved me hundreds of dollars. The whole thing took two hours and I was back on the road for my evening meeting. I will definitely go back to this location for future services! read more

I asked for a brake flush. The guy comes back saying I need him to replace a long list of parts one of which being new brake pads and such. I had just gotten new brake pads a few weeks earlier so I paid for the flush and left. It was also not very busy and took a really long time almost 3 hours. read more

Could not tell me what was fully wrong with my car. Wanted me to pay $909 for repairs. That still wouldn't guarantee my check engine light would go off. Came in for a emissions diagnostic. Still charged me $117 without a full diagnostic. They checked everything else except what I asked. I wouldn't go here for a diagnostic again. read more

I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy, I made an appt to get my light bulbs changed on my very basic car. Which only had to take out 2 bolts and there was the lightbulb; they charged me labor time as if I was getting breaks done. I was charged more than what an oil change cost. $48.00 in labor alone to change out 3 lights in the back of my car. I called corporate and I was advised that is the shops pricing and there isn't anything they can do about it. Iv lived in the area for over 9 years and had used them in the past without any issues but now they think its ok to rip people off for basic work. When they were inputting information into the computer they weren't even talking English, as if they knew they were being shady and trying to get over on me. When it was time to pay he didn't even say the price out loud as he did with the customer before me, just laid the paper on the counter and as he knew I would say something for paying $65.00 to change 3 light in the back. I will NEVER go and I hope you rethink making an appointment with people who don't price fair and want to get over on you because they think they can. read more

The Meineke store # 950 17422 Jefferson Davis Highway, Dumfries, VA 22026-2200 off of 234 and route one had performed a service of replacing my front/ rear brake calipers, front and rear brake pads, front and rear rotors, and performed a brake flush in January and 6 months later I notice my truck had a grinding noise. I called the meineke store and spoke to one of the managers about bringing in the vehicle to check out what was going on. The manager I had spoke with Mr. Mike told me to bring the the vehicle in next business day. I brought the truck in and spoke with the white manager and had asked him if the grinding noise I heard were due to the brake pads would they be warrantied since it had only been 6 months, he said yes. The manager then told me I would have to leave the vehicle for a couple of hours to I did. I had received a call stating that my truck wouldn't done that day and they would call and let me know when they got to my vehicle. The next day I received a call from an employee stating that my brake hoses collapsed causing the brake calipers to apply the brake pads consistently to the rotors which caused my brake pads to wear down metal to metal. I told the employee on the phone to keep my truck in the air and that I would be there in a few. Once getting there another manager Qaism I didn't speak with previous was trying to tell me that the brake hoses were the cause of the problem. I told him to break down how the brake system works and it's components. After he explained it and I asked why didn't technician recommend brake hoses if All brake pads, rotors, and calipers were replaced including a brake flush. The manager stated that he doesn't recommend parts that he doesn't see anything wrong with them. I told the manager and explained that he could not guarantee that the hoses were the cause of the problem so the technician did not keep the customers safety in mind when he performed the initial inspection. After arguing with the manager the owner Rafi came out and wanted me to stop cursing and arguing. The arguing went on for an hour of back and forth about how why and when is it a good time to replace a component that is an immediate sub component to a major part of a system that is needed not only for safety reasons but for all VA state inspection. After another ten to fifteen minutes I was fed up and told the owner to disconnect the caliper from the brake hose to verify their claim of the brake hoses being collapsed. I told the manager that he didn't know what he was talking about and explained that I was a technician around the area and the manager said so was he and that he has his degree in the automotive field and he knew what he was talking about. I told the manager that then he was a crappy technician and so was his technicians. Once the owner and I walked out to my truck and the owner told the technician to disconnect the brake hoses from the caliper to see if the brake hoses had collapsed, the owner and I began arguing about the common sense factor and the safety aspect that the technician did not posses or did not think about. I told the owner the he had scammers as employees and that I know for a fact that they don't even torque down bolts or any parts that require a torque specification. Once we were called to see the brake hoses and the technician had a bucket to catch the brake fluid if any that spilled, the technician un-clamped the brake hose on the right front first and there was a constant flow of brake fluid flowing into the bucket I told the owner that i'm recording this because that this is evidence that his technicians didn't even check and I even explained to the owner prior to the disconnecting of the brake hoses that I know the technician didn't check the brake hoses because there was no physical sign of fluid or residual on the caliper where it was disconnected prior to me getting to that shop. The owner, technician and I moved to the other side where the brake hose clamp was removed and again a constant flow of brake fluid came out and I told the owner that a constant flow of brake fluid wasn't the sign of a collapsed hose once again. At this point the owner and I walked outside and asked me what I wanted to happen and I told him that I wanted my truck fixed and that they would have to eat the parts price and labor. The owner said no and I told him I have no problem calling the police, the news and the BBB to file a complaint. The owner walked off and created a document wanted me to sign stating I declined the replacing of the front and rear brake pads, rotors, and calipers. I told him I didn't want the brake hoses replaced I just wanted my truck fixed so I could leave. When they received the parts they took forever to get the job half way complete. I find out that the technician only replaced the Front brake pads, rotors, calipers, right rear pads, rotors, and caliper, and only did nothing to my right rear. Great service. The mechanic dropped me off and picked me up at my nearby house. Worked was done in a reasonable time not to mentioned the cost to replaced brake pads and resurfaced the rotor. The mechanic even show me the work being done in the garage. read more

I've been a customer at this location for several years and I keep coming back because of the way I get treated every time which is great. The staff is top notch and you can't beat the service and cost. If anybody asks me where they can find a good mechanic I always tell them to go to Meineke in Dumfries. I had my Chevy Trailblazer here when it broke down in a parking lot. The initial service I thought was good -- replaced the alternator, battery, and recommended front brake replacement. A week later the check engine light came back on and I took it back. They told me it was an emissions leak but couldn't tell me where because the nozzle to hook it to the emissions machine was broken and to fix that they would have to replace my entire fuel line. This seemed questionable to me so I took the vehicle to a dealership for a second opinion. They saw no such broken nozzle and fixed the gas cap for free! Now I wonder if I really did need new brakes! read more

I came here because of brand loyalty. I'd used the Meineke that was further north on Route 1 and loved their service. Since that one has closed I decided to give this location a try. Well, though I wasn't completely disappointed, I probably won't return. My appointment was at 8:00 form an oil change. I openly admit I didn't arrive until 8:07 however, they didn't actually start servicing my vehicle until about 8:30/8:40. The service took almost an hour and a half. I'm not super experienced in oil changes but the ones I've had in the past didn't take THAT long. Once they finished they called me to the counter for payment and to return my keys. Well instead of removing that small key tag by unlooping the string the attendant yanked it trying to snap the string which resulted in my keyless entry remote breaking. There was no apology or anything just an "Oh, was that already broken?" Wellllllllll no it wasn't already broken off the ring hence the reason you heard that loud POP when you yanked it off! Now I have to pay $50 to replace the remote all because baby hulk hogan wanted to get all diesel with the key tag string. Ugh. No recommendations for this location. I just wish the other one would reopen. They were great. read more

I came here to get my brakes fixed and they told me the same crap that I read other customers have said that I need the front ones too. Then quoted me $987! I told them I came just to get the rear brakes fixed and didn't come here to spend $1000! They told me some crap about my rotors are uneven and that my brakes make a sound when pressed. That's a lie. Good thing my father was there and told me they were full of it. If you want to get ripped off then I recommend this place. I had my check engine light on and he was able to tell me in very bad English what the fault codes were and cleared them. That was the only good thing about this place. They fixed my rear brakes for a little over $300. Still my brakes make no sound or doesn't shake when pressed like they said. I didn't appreciate being lied to get more money out of me. I used to like this location now it just has foreigners working there who can't speak English very well. My parents are immigrants so I have nothing against them btw. Never going back. read more

I took my truck to Meineke because my SUV would vibrate when it got to 50MPH and when applying the brakes. Also, a loud sound was coming from the left rear tire. Meineke told me I needed rear brakes, rotors, tires, oil change and I had to purchase a new wheel lock. The total cost for repair was $1347.00. However, my SUV drove worst than before it did when I took it to them. I took it back the following weekend and they reinstalled the same brakes and rotor. Again, it was worse then before. I took it back a 3rd time and they installed a new brand of brakes. The issue still wasn't resolved and after the 3rd attempt I couldn't drive the truck because the left rear tire was louder and the vibration when braking was unbearable. I missed days out of work because I could not drive the drive truck on my 60 mile commute to work and back. So, after Meineke failed at fixing my truck I took it to another local mechanic that I was referred to and after test driving my SUV he immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed the truck. He discovered that the left rear caliper had seized onto the brake. Meineke's mechanics had to have seen this because they replaced the brakes and would have had to FORCE the brake rotor into the caliper. I'm extremely upset because from the beginning the issue was a seized caliper and Meineka ignore that. I paid $1347 for repairs and tires I didn't need. I ended up paying the other mechanic $535.00 to replace the caliper. I cannot believe that Meineke pulled the rear tires off 3 times and replaced the breaks 3 times and would force the brake rotors into the caliper. Had I continued drive my truck like that I would have ruined my transmission. I had new brakes, rotors and tires put on October 2016. However, I trusted Meineke and thought I needed those items replaced. I need my vehicle to get to work so I paid their inflated price and didn't have a clue that I was being taken advantage us. I hope they don't do this to anyone else. read more

I went to have my flex pipe fixed, as soon as I got the car back I noticed that my car was running through fuel, I took the car back and they told me they did nothing wrong and that my fuel pump was bad, so I took my car to another shop and they discovered that when Meineke fixed my flex pipe they brunt my o2 sensor, now I am out an additional 400 plus. I will never go back or recommend them to anyone. read more
