To recap, I was…read moreusing the rower when I was told by staff that the rower will need to be used for the HIIT class which will be starting in a few minutes. I did not get off the rower since there were other rowers available for the class. I spoke with the manager and requested a rower be moved up to the second level with the other cardio machines. I primarily use the rower since it's a total body workout. When I entered the gym today, I was pleasantly surprised to see staff and the manager moving a rower upstairs, as I had requested. I felt validated and not dismissed. Having the rower upstairs is a game changer. I no longer hear the blasting music and I am actually able to focus on my workout.

She devised a plan that allowed me to strengthen the muscles I needed to making sure my back was always supported and I was comfortable with exercise. She was very aware of my firm and made sure I was doing everything g correctly. After a couple of months with her I feel infinitely more comfortable in the gym and using the equipment and I see the results. The pain in my shoulder and back have gone away. This place has everything you need and then some to hit your goals- especially with all new equipment! They have showers, free weights, squat area, treadmills, cycling, rowing machine, and more. They have things I never even used in a gym before. What more do you need? This place is where I come to get away. I feel comfortable and welcomed. I love how there are many familiar faces in the gym, where it feels like I am part of a community and not just some large corporate owned place. I've been…read moreenjoying the individual focus but pleasantly segued to a group retreat on November 10th that I would love to share about. It was quite a lovely Autumn day where a group of about 10 people arranged out mats in a large circle on her property. It was very invigorating doing the poses and meditation in the brisk clean air. But more than that it was about connection to all the people and specifically Elana's professional leadership in making people feel accepted, appreciated and cared for. The 5 hours of that afternoon flew by and at the end of the day I was enriched and inspired. These kinds of gatherings are far too few for me and I would advocate to have more of them in my life.

Making the choice to be part of Crossfit Peekskill has been one of the best decisions that I've…read moremade in many years. Always being skinny, I've had issues my entire life gaining quality weight and at 40 years old, i didn't think building muscle was a possibility. Fast forward 8 months with the training and guidance of Crossfit Peekskill I'm 15 lbs heavier, My arms, chest, back, shoulders and legs are all noticeably bigger and to my surprise, I grew a butt....never knew I could do that until now. I've been to other gyms before and its too easy to slack in your workout. Peekskill crossfit won't let you do that. Every workout will push you, sometimes to places you didn't think you could get to, but at the same time, no workout is impossible. There are always scaled versions of nearly every exercise. The coaches are always watching over you guiding you in your workout, improving your form and technique and giving encouragement. The coaches give more than I would have ever expected. Their motivation is seeing the members of crossfit peekskil grow, improve and hit their goals. They are led by head coach and new owner Jessica Manfro who has given new life and energy to CFP. Jessica is everything an owner/head coach should be. Knowledgeable, energetic, personable, and she knows how she wants to run CFP yet she listens to concerns, ideas and criticism from anyone that is a part of it. Even though i'm only a member of CFP, I feel like its my gym not just the gym I go to and I'm sure i'm not alone in that sentiment. And in your workout journey, you're not alone. The people that are a part of CFP come in all shapes and sizes, each with their own personal goals and achievements. There is nothing but support and camaraderie. No judgments and no weird cliques. Some people think Crossfit is some sort of cult, but as cheesy as it may sound, this box is more of a family. Never have I felt out of place or like I didn't belong even when I knew nothing about Crossfit. If you're thinking of joining a gym, whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned veteran of working out, Peekskill CrossFit will teach, challenge and push you towards your goals while guiding and motivating you the entire way. I came to Orca after recovering from a hernia operation. I was at the heaviest I ever been and…read morereally felt terrible about my physical condition. I started training with Sean, Ken and Cat and felt results after only one week. After a month or two the weight was coming off and all i did was attend classes and make some minor changes to my diet. After 6 months I was down 40 lbs and felt in the best shape of my life and again I only changed a few things in my diet. At the age of 50 i was able to achieve my life long dream of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa! I had given up on this dream and only when i became an Orca member did I find the new lease on life and saw the possibility of fulfilling this dream.
