Drive around for 30 minutes looking for the place. Tried calling twice with no answer. Will consider more stars if the info gets updated.

Josh is an outstanding coach -- approachable, personable, and genuinely passionate about helping others succeed. One of the instructors there recommended Field Fitness, and I've loved what I have found. I've mostly been taking classes with Josh and he's so motivating and supportive. I've got an arm injury and he's been great about providing alternatives for some exercises while keeping the flow of the class going for all. So impressive. There is no 'hard sell' at this place - which I really appreciate, and their endurance as a studio is there because they offer great programming and great product via the classes that they have. If your schedule means that you can only do infrequent or irregular classes, through to dedicated multi-times-a-week practice for strength, core, upper body and lower body work, you can do via the classes at this gym - so check it out!

I like that they are firm on start time and don't compromise the work out for late comers. Specifically, do not ever take a class with the owner (Peter) if you have an injury and require a substitution for a specific movement. For example, I have a severe knee injury. The only thing that relieves my knee pain is the circular motion of riding a bike combined with the analgesic relief that cardio from bike riding has been proven to provide. Meanwhile, one morning, Peter refused to let me ride the gym's erg bike as a substitute for one of the standard movements, which happened to be Jumping rope. After he continued to refuse to let me substitute bike riding for jumping rope, I said out loud to him, "Peter. This is my body. My choice." And yet he still refused to let me ride the erg bike. So I walked out. And I asked via email for my membership to end Sept 18. Then I had a discussion with other coaches who would let me use the bike whenever I felt like it. They convinced me to stay on as a member. But Peter refused to let me keep my membership unless I agreed to do whatever substitutions Peter deemed appropriate. Peter also gave a long lecture to his staff that week, insisting no coach should let me use the erg bike when I ask for it. And then on the morning of August 4, I realized Peter had canceled my membership early because the app was trying to charge me a "drop in" price just to sign up for that morning's classes. When I asked him to reinstate my membership, even if it was just until the date I had originally requested of Sept 18, he refused. He said I could only stay a member if I had a meeting with him and agreed to comply with whatever terms and conditions HE so chooses. He hides behind the guise of his "specific training program backed by science". But that's such a joke. And he knows he's a joke. He knows most of the members hate him. It's obvious by the low attendance for classes that he coaches. And he's taking out his issues on me simply because he can. It's so infuriating because it's so obvious to me he's suffering from severe control issues brought on by his behavioral and severe personality disorders. If he really wanted to give me a proper substitute and cared about my longevity he'd perhaps suggest I throw a d-ball up against the wall and catch it. Or something to that effect. But instead he gives me BS moves like calf raises, while refusing to let me ride the erg bike. Meanwhile the other trainers are courteous and respectful and gracious and allow me to make whatever substitutions I want. The only problem is a lot of the coaches quit working here because Peter's behavior drives them away. So there's always someone "in training". He also wastes members' time and staff's time with long lectures before or after classes. And he refuses to change his ways--often arguing with members. He's disrespectful when he insists that a coach knows a members' needs better than the members does. I've noticed he also tries to train his younger staff with this same methodology: "a coach knows better about a member's body than the members". For me, that breaks a moral boundary. There's another incident where a member did not want to box because of her elbow injury. But he insisted she box. Of course, she then reinjured her elbow. And that to me is sickening. The workouts themselves can be somewhat good. But nothing makes up for Peter's terrible management style and the nonsense policies he tries to enforce. In summary, this gym is a disaster. And the owner is a disgrace to this franchise. Edit in response to Peter's comment on my review: Peter's talking about himself in the third person because he was the trainer that day. Also, Peter, that's obviously just cut-and-paste lip service. You're obviously grasping at straws to protect your bottom line. You absolutely do NOT care about your members whatsoever. And you do NOT wish me well in my health journey. You make it obvious you only care about one things: having ultimate control of your franchise and its members. And if you can't control them, then you cancel their membership. If you actually cared, you would not have cancelled my membership before I asked for it to end. The fact that you effectively kicked me out of your club before I wanted to quit simply because I wanted to use the erg bike as a substitute for whatever movement I so chose just goes to show how severely warped your behavioral and personality issues really are.

There is never judgment from the staff or the people who work out. I love them all. I am proud to call this gym my gym and I'm so happy to be part of this community. Are the equipments best in class? No. But I will come here because of the people and honestly - to be fit all you need are free weights, cardio equipment, and a little help from your friends. The trainers are always so helpful and the manager, Nico is so fun and friendly. For training I recommend Edwin. He has the most transformative training I've ever seen. I have seen his clients transform to their goal body. He takes his job seriously, corrects you while training and understands that proper form is key. He's given me tips and has also helped me transition my training to something suited and better for me and I've seen changes in the way my body respond! So- kudos to Edwin! The front desk staff from Chloe, Mayra, Lance, Andy, and Rishi are so approachable and always there with a smiling face. Jose Luis - the trainer's manager is also super helpful! Sometimes- it isn't about the equipment - it is about the people you surround yourself with that genuinely roots for you that makes a place a second home. Yes, this is my second home. I am here daily and lose days twice a day.

But it kinda stops there…read more Minuses: I am an older guy, so I really don't enjoy loud rap at 7AM with the f-word and other bad language and sexual or violent stuff in it. Just sounds like profanity and people banging on garbage cans. Every early morning that I go, the music is too loud, even overwhelming the noise cancellation feature in my Air Pods. I look around, and EVERYONE is wearing ear pods or headphones. And yet the front desk tells me that they are getting requests to turn the volume up. Which I truly doubt. Strangely, this is not an issue at the San Jose location. Just Sunnyvale. In the mornings, there can be HITT classes and the instructors play the music painfully loud on their own portable sound system. Normally, there is a separate, walled room for this (San Jose Crunch), but not in Sunnyvale. So we all suffer from the ear-banging. There is an overabundance of treadmills which I have never seen full, but only one cable machine for shoulder workout, which is either broken or full-time occupied. Only two free-weight bench press benches, typically full. Only two portable benches in the weight area, typically full. For about two years, I have asked to have the men's shower controls repaired; you set the temperature handle, and it slowly drifts to scalding. A plumber could fix this in about 10 minutes. At least two conversations with the manager about this, and no repairs. Also, one or both shower soap dispensers is typically empty or broken. The worst is when I get attitude from the front desk staff. I ask for something (like non-rap music) and I get lots of reasons why I can't have it. And that kind of smile that really says "screw you, you can't make me do it." I don't know if the budgets are zero here, or if the management just doesn't care, but something really is not right. Almost every other club I have been to is more positive, helpful, clean, functional, and courteous. And at other clubs, I typically have no problem getting in contact with the manager. Here, it has been a challenge.

Unfortunately, F45 Sunnyvale feels like a major outlier -- and not in a good way. I'm genuinely surprised this studio is still operating under the F45 name, because the experience here doesn't reflect the same standards I've come to expect. Trainers at this location don't demonstrate exercises live, they just mirror the video playlist from an iPad onto the TV screen and leave it at that. One coach in particular gave off the impression of being completely new to the F45 environment -- they didn't look or carry themselves like a trainer at all, and there was no engagement or technique correction throughout the session. It made the class feel unstructured and even unsafe at times. The equipment and studio upkeep also leave a lot to be desired. The space feels gritty and worn down, lacking the clean, energized environment that most F45s provide. I couldn't help but compare it to F45 Branham Park or F45 Mountain View, which are both far superior in terms of coaching, energy, and maintenance -- and they're priced similarly. If you're thinking of trying F45, do yourself a favor and explore one of the other nearby studios. Sunnyvale's location simply doesn't deliver on the brand promise, and I walked away feeling like I wasted both my time and money.
