I recently moved in during early June. I've been asked multiple times to write a review, but I…read morewanted to actually experience this place first. I also hadn't read the older reviews until now, and I've noticed some things that may have changed while other issues remain.
DOGS: Some neighbors do not use leashes, and enforcement seems inconsistent. They also don't clean up after their dogs and there are also areas with many flies that it's an eye sore. I can't believe other people aren't phased by it. It makes me wonder how the inside of their homes look.
I walk my small senior dog consistently. By Building C, someone opened their door and unleashed a large dog that immediately launched toward my dog. The same happened with two little dogs at Building B. By Building A, I've repeatedly seen a large dog loose.
I honestly feel like some people own these huge dogs because they feel the need to have something "bigger than them." But what's the point if you can't control the dog? Does the dog own the person at that point? I honestly think so. You can't humanize an animal.
In that same Building A area, I saw a cat torn in half. A coyote may have taken that cat for food, but a loose dog with an irresponsible owner leaves everyone else dealing with the consequences. I hope that cat is resting easy now. She was very sweet and friendly. She probably trusted the dog.
CARS/SECURITY: Within my first couple of weeks, I experienced an attempted car break-in. My partner's car was also keyed, and I've noticed other vehicles with similar damage. I called the police and made a report.
There are currently no cameras that I'm aware of unless residents have their own. Management told us they're looking into getting cameras next year, and I hope that's true. I think cameras would keep most people in line and help hold the bad seeds accountable. Police presence has also become more noticeable, thankfully, and I hope it continues.
PARKING: Each unit gets one assigned parking space. You can request a temporary pass for 3-4 days or get on a waitlist if additional parking is unavailable. You have to stay on top of it. I've seen people park down the street or at Family Dollar just to avoid getting towed.
HOMELESSNESS/DUMPING: Unhoused people frequently gather near the "closed" gate. The mess left behind can become an issue. I still see it to this day. If you're at your lowest, don't make the environment around you suffer too.
Neighbors also dump things in common areas. A bed frame was left on the grass with exposed wires and metal, and I saw a child playing near it. If you care about your kids, reconsider your stay.
FALSE PROMISES: You may be told something will be removed, fixed, or handled, only to see the same problem the next day. HOWEVER, I want to be fair: most of my complaints have actually been taken seriously and into account. That has been helpful.
ROACHES: Yes, there are roaches. Big and small. No matter how clean you are, they seem to come back. Pest control came out, and that same day I saw a tiny roach crawling out of the floor.
NEIGHBORS: Some are extremely inconsiderate. On my first day, three police cars were outside the leasing office dealing with a domestic disturbance. I've also had to call the police twice and courtesy patrol once because of neighbors banging on walls, hooting and hollering. It honestly sounded like they were on a bad drug trip. I feel bad that management has to deal with adult babies. For some people, this really is as good as it's going to get, and it shows.
MAINTENANCE: My garbage disposal leaked the first time I used the sink. I eventually found the problem myself: the rubber piece was upside down. Maintenance does get things done when you ask.
ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN: I also experienced my first apartment break-in attempt. A homeless woman came to my door, tried opening it, then knocked like she owned the place. I immediately called the police. They did their due diligence, and thankfully I haven't seen her since.
THE GOOD: Honestly, I think this is a good place for someone getting their first apartment, especially if you're just starting out. Management was communicative and helpful throughout my move-in process.
I really want to thank Raymond for his hard work and due diligence. It makes me feel better knowing management is actually trying to make this area better. That's a challenge in itself, but they are tackling it and it's not an easy battle.
The issue here isn't management as much as I originally thought. A large part of it is the neighbors who refuse to follow the rules and regulations placed upon them. Some people genuinely believe they are bigger than the program when they really aren't. I appreciate management for not ignoring complaints.
I hope my neighbors read this because they deserve to be told the truth about their behavior and how others view them. Everyone needs a reality check.
