Ok, so I understand that when you go to "sell" clothes here, that they are not going to take everything. And, since this is located in Hipster Central, I feel like they are extra particular, but it's almost like there is no rhyme or reason. I had some some stuff that I definitely thought they would take back (aka, a marc by marc jacobs blouse that just didn't fit me anymore) but nope. I would have stuck around and probed as to why this was but it was busy, I was hungry and just not in the mood. Some times there are good finds here but I just decided to take my money and run. What can I say? I live on the faux-thrift store experience. The inventory is fairly good, you have to sift through the Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters clothes to get to the good stuff. Sometimes their designer stuff is a tad overpriced, I know it's designer, but if it's just a t-shirt with a pocket, you guys need to calm down. But sometimes you'll snag something with the tag still on it and the price will be awesome. In that way it's inconsistent but it's totally worth the gamble. The organization of racks are okay, though color coding looks great, I don't want to buy t-shirts so I'd rather see things organized according to the item type like shirts, blouses, sweaters, etc. Their hats and bags are okay, once in awhile I find some shoes I like (the best ones are often the crazy expensive ones behind the counter not in my size). The shoes are just often cheaper brands or really worn out Ferragamos. Their jewelery sucks though, who is the generic supplier for that stuff? They could use more donations of jewelery to provide variety. The dressing rooms could use some expansion, being in those claustrophobic chambers are really dusty and mildly depressing. And the staff is fine I guess, when it comes to shopping I never factor that in unless behavior is seriously unruly, service matters more if you're in a restaurant or car dealership. It's probably taken more personal by sellers because it's not a seller's market, it's a a buyer's market. I have sold stuff and they were kind of public about their reactions to things, so that's not the best feeling, they'll be better to you at Buffalo Exchange when they tell you why they can't buy stuff (even if you're not interested in hearing it). read more

Here with my friends while on vacation from California. The selection is sub par with 8 year old shirts from Target. And if your a minority be prepared to check your bag because the "space is narrow". Saw five white girls with backpacks, but I had to check my mini backpack because of narrow aisles while apparently they were able to manage it just fine. read more

Instead of wasting bunches of money on one item next door at Urban Outfitters, I love to come here and find hidden treasures among the racks of clothes. Once you walk in, everything is neatly organized by color and category. Newer and more trendy items are placed on their own rack and sometimes even the employees have a special picks rack. The condition that the clothes are in are what make this place stand apart. No pit stained, holy shirts here- most of the time you can find a high end designer piece at a fraction of the price. Because they are picky about what they take, it makes the selection more appealing. There are always a wide array of handbags, belts, shoes and an endless supply of denim. Pricing is reasonable for what is offered. So, instead of hitting up those pricey boutiques down the street, come here first and take a look! read more

Omg. I'm sitting here selling and the two woman behind the counter are just chatting about their lives taking their sweet time pricing (there are two people in the store). I use to be a store manager and this is something that really irritates me. It should've taken all of 5 minutes to price my one bag instead it's taking 25 and since we have to pay for parking you're really loosing money. These places don't know "trends". read more

Love the staff, love the clothes, love the prices. My only complaint is that almost every article of clothing I purchase has the price tag piercing through the actual fabric which always turns into a gaping hole once the tag is removed! I've asked in the past that the manager address this issue with the staff, but no improvement implemented to date. I'll continue to find fabulous fashion at CTC, but I encourage my fellow shoppers to be weary of potential (and completely unnecessary) fabric flaws. read more

I have yet to go wrong at this crossroads location. Each time i enter I've found nothing but unique cloths in great condition for unbelievable prices. 8 shirts and sweaters for $60. A pair of deisel jeans for $40. All a perfect fit and i continually get compliment on. Crossroads has yet to do me wrong. read more

From the selling point of view, I don't think this store is very great. I typically go to the Evanston location because it's more convenient to me. I usually bring in about 25 items and they pay me out around $100-$150. I always have a great experience there and leave very satisfied. The cashiers are incredibly friendly and help you through the process. I did not have a similar experience at the Bucktown location. I decided to go to this location and brought in a couple of Burberry shirts with Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren etc. along with many other items. All were turned down because they were "brands that don't sell well for us"? Hm... frustrating. I think I'll just go back to the Evanston location. read more

The payout if you sell clothes is extremely low, regardless if it's in style for the season. Also, their buyer is very slow but that could just be a sign of being thorough. They make you check your bags in, probably since it's a tight space to begin with. I don't recommend going here to sell your clothes, but you may be able to find a steal here read more

I tried to sell a whole bin of clothing of name brand outfits fairly new after leaving it over night and coming back they offered me $1. (A spit to the face.) Then when I asked for my clothing back they asked if I would care to donate the clothes which I then asked if they had the intentions of selling the clothes. HOW IS IT YOU CANT PAY ME FOR MY CLOTHES BUT INSIST I DONATE THEM TO YOU SO YOU CAN SELL THEM? I understand not every consignment is reputable but crossroads has been around for a good bit.. I have found some great things at this shop..Most of the staff is friendly and helpful, but others are standing around with an attitude. My friend found a practically new Prada shirt for 20 bucks!! I have been to this location a few times and have had mostly pleasant experiences here. Not today. Let me explain further... For the most part, you come to a store like this to sell clothes you no longer wear for whatever reason. For me, I am a clothes hoarder and tend to hold onto things I haven't worn in a very long time or frankly, not at all. I brought in 4 bags of clothes and some pretty decent shoes (one pair still in the box and unworn) only to be told that they wouldn't be buying anything because they aren't buying for summer anymore (legit reason) and that the clothes I brought in really weren't 'stylish' enough for them (kind of legit, yet mostly rude). I did watch the girl behind the counter sort through my items to see that she BARELY unfolded any of them and spent most of her time checking customers out while going through my bags. I understand not wanting to buy a dress because summer is coming to an end, but when I asked about the never worn, brand new pair of black coated J Brand jeans (tags still on)...she rudely replied she didn't see them and I could go through my bags again if I wanted to show her. Oh yes, let me go through my bags again since you didn't seem to take the time to do your job properly. Thankfully, I don't need the money and wasn't disappointed because my visit to the store yielded no profits. I was disappointed that someone went through my items haphazardly and was mostly rude and insulting. Guess what, I'm bringing these clothes to sell because I DON'T WEAR THEM ANYMORE, hence, I know you won't find them on the pages of Vogue, but I wasn't bringing in crap. Ultimately, you don't need to insult me or the things I bring in. I took my things to Buffalo Exchange across the street where I received $80 in cash and most importantly, a much friendlier attitude. I then took the rest of my items and donated them to the Ark a bit further down Milwaukee. Point of this story-respect your customers and respect that they are the ones who keep your business open. I mean they have a good selection for a fair price but be quite careful when choosing clothes to sell to them, and get ready to leave with an anxiety attack if your clothes aren't yuppie enough for their selection. I think the girls name was Erica and wow was she a condescending bitch. read more

Absolutely love this place, I always find amazing deals! Probably my favorite wicker park thrift shop, and that's saying a lot since i love all of them so much! You really do have to dig and look through everything if you want to find the deals, but that is the best part about consignment shops! read more

I can not say enough great things about this little hole-in-the-wall find. I got pants, shirts, and a sweet jacket for super cheap. If you are into name-brand clothes mostly for the quality (GAP, JCrew, United colors of Benetton), and do not want to pay the top dollar, go here. I think I like this place better than Buffalo Exchange but that's only cus I was able to sell some items here that BE didn't take. The space is a little small and cramped though. While I actually haven't bought anything from here, it looks like there are plenty of nice finds, top name brand purses and burberry jackets for example, that is worth checking out. I will definitely be back to sell more clothes here. It does get busy during the weekends if you want to sell so expect a little bit of a wait - don't come here if you're in a rush. read more

This place is over-rated. They think they have a style but they don't. Price is so high for many things. I went to trade my clothes and there is a man working there and he never takes anything just to make us believe he has a style. I should give 2 reviews, 1 for being a shopper here, then one for being a seller: Shopper Review: I like the hunt. This is why I like places like Crossroads. I like to hunt for the deal and am so much more satisfied when I find something at Crossroads than at a normal retail store. The only thing is--sometimes I come up empty-handed. However, it is the thrill of the hunt that lures me in every time and even if I procure nothing from my effort, I know that I have not missed out on something spectacular. So, I have to go often and look meticulously. I am not a label snob, but I like it when I pick up things that I like from stores I wouldn't normally shop at. All-in-all, it's fun. LIke "one man's junk is another man's treasure." I like that idea. Seller Review: My qualm with this place is selling here. I don't have a particular style, but my friend the other day said I dress sporty-military-futuristic-English- something-or-other. Anyway, I have a heap of clothes and always have bags of them to get rid of. The thing is, I don't follow any trends. I don't know what's "in" until I see 20 people wearing the same "minimal scarf" on Milwaukee Avenue, or something like that. Or if I take a look inside the window of Urban Outfitters. The buyers only seem to take what is the latest trend, and I really don't think that everyone wants that stuff. I sure as hell don't. And I shop here. I've even brought in expensive, cool brand stuff that they haven't taken claiming that it is not the latest trend. I have to say that I have seen some of the ugliest outfits on people in here, and if that's what is "in" then forget about it! Because of this I now sell my clothes on Ebay and do pretty well, with most of it shipping off to Europe where the styles are different... read more

I freaking love this shop. They have a nice mix of stable work wear, trendy tank dresses, fabulous vintage, and cheap fun. I went in to look for a dress and found the most amazing black strappy heels for under $40 EVER. I've gotten some good thrift name brand work shirts as well as fun bangly jewels and a tote bag covered in red and blue sea horses. The woman who owns/runs the shop is very nice and super helpful. It's consignment too, so if you have decent and recent fashions you don't want any more bring 'em down and get some cash. Or just peruse the shoes and find purple jellies to fall in love with. read more

I came in here to try to sell some of my clothes after going to Buffalo Exchange across the street (where they took several of my items but left me with most of my stuff) and the girl handling the buying passed over basically everything and offered me $15 cash for two or three of my most random items. Although I am undoubtedly biased in favor of my own taste, I had pretty good stuff, like perfect condition Madewell jeans, trendy floral tops, brand new expensive faux leather pants and skirts, etc. I was so annoyed that I had to lug all my stuff all the way back with me! I ended up going to the Crossroad's Trading location on N. Clark to give it another try, and the lady there bought 13 of my 20 or so items. Not sure what this girl was looking for, but judging by the clothes for sale at this location, she should take a more careful look at the clothes people bring in to sell, or brush up on what is popular. read more

I've found some unusual and cute things here, but it's not consistent and for that reason, I prefer the Brown Elephant. They have a wide selection of brands, and usually have a nice range of skirts, but their tops and pants are so-so. I have better luck with their accessories - warm scarves, quirky brooches, and sometimes a fantastic pair of shoes. Worth dropping in, although satisfaction is not always guaranteed. read more

Shoes shoes shoes shoes! This is where the good shoes are. It's almost impossible for me to walk out of there without a "new" pair of shoes. I've bought Prada sandals from here for a VERY reasonable price, and a pair of Stella McCartney nude flats for dirt cheap. Their clothes are hit or miss, they do tend to have a great selection of jeans, however. And their dresses are moreso spot on. But, SHOES. I go for the shoes, and you should too. if you are a bargain shopper or have a loaded closet of stuff you don't wear anymore, this place is for you. as a seller, i have been here three times and walked away with a nice wad of cash. they are fair and offer you credit or cash. if you go with credit, you get more bang for your buck. and it is doubtful that you won't find anything that you don't like in this store. as a buyer, it is my vintage AND contemporary dream. dressing down or up, this place offers everything from american eagle cardigans to dolce and gabbana shoes. prices are very fair and everything is color and garment type coordinated. it is clean but the quarters are tight, especially on a busy day. have patience and you will hit the jackpot everytime. read more

I want to give them more stars just for the amazing marc jacobs skirt I once bought here for a steal and have worn to death but I can't because more often than not they don't have anything I want. Also, I felt a little insulted when I tried to sell clothes here. Fine if you don't want to buy anything but do you really need to tell me that my only worn once Steve Madden blue loafers are soooo not what the neighborhood style dictates? Descent luck here. Pretty good selection of men's clothing, expect to pay between $12-25 for a men's oxford shirt. Friendly employees and clean store...Prices seem a bit steep, better to check out buffalo down the road. However this is a resale shop, so occasionally one can find designer brands for half the price. Did find a lot of H&M articles for more or less the same price as new. read more

Keep your things and give them to charity. Style divas or mavens not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The employees are not only rude when examining your things but have no sense of style. I tried them a few years ago and I thought that this time would be different. I took manolos, donna karen amongst other name brand items and was told my clothing was too conservative. B_sh@!%, this coming from the young woman with skunk hair, black on top and white on the bottom. Then when the second lady came over, she related the same thing. But yet she was attempting to rock an outdated salt-n-pepa hair style. Have you not read Marie Claire, Elle, or Instyle lately? How dare you tell a client, that their style is too conservative? Not everyone that comes there to shop is looking for skater or worn out clothing or shoes. I am sorry the Gap, H&M, and Forever 21 are things that can be purchased every day brand new, not worn over or worn out from this store. Case in point, there were shoes from BEBE's never worn that had an original price tag of $139,00 marked down by them for $14.00, what a ripoff. Never mind the fact there were in season! Another resale shop in Wicker, but this place is extremely crowded with clothes (tons to choose from)...I also love how it is organized by color. The prices were average I guess...I am not really a thrifter/ resale shopper so I don't know what is normal or not. . From my experience it was the best resale shop in the area since it had a lot to choose from, yet beware that the space is really tight. I didn't like the weird musky smell....but I guess that is normal for used clothes and tight spaces. I actually bought something here...so I can definitely see myself going back to check things out. read more

I visited at least a dozen vintage & consignment stores when I was in Chicago and this was by far my favorite. They had lots of good brands and good prices. I wound up getting 3 blouses and a skirt for $62. Two of them were from anthropologie and one was a boutique brand. I thought the selection was really good--lots of variety and lots of fun stuff to look through. I would love to come back the next time I'm in Chicago! read more
