For your pet's safety, DO NOT ever visit this veterinary office. I cannot stress it enough. Two years ago, I switched to Crossroads because the drive to my veterinarian of 20 years was quite far. This was an incredibly huge mistake. I have never had a good experience at Crossroads, but kept going back thinking, "maybe it was just an off day for them." Spoiler alert - it was not an off day. Last year I took him for a check up and asked for a rabies vaccination only. They ended up talking me into several unnecessary vaccines that left him sick for weeks. Since I was unable to go inside due to the pandemic, they called me and talked so quickly that I had little time to consider the options. I could kick myself now for not standing firm with what I wanted, which was ONLY a rabies vaccination. In January of 2021, I had made an appointment because my dog felt ill. They called me the day of and asked if I wanted to come in earlier, as there was a cancellation. I said no thank you and that we would be there at the originally agreed upon time. As I was leaving the house, they called me asking why I had not arrived for the earlier offered appointment time. I explained the conversation and the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about. Come to find out they had cancelled my original appointment so I was then left with no appointment. They made it seem as if I was to blame. I did not reschedule at that time. In March of 2021 I took Charlie in for a follow-up after having visited an emergency animal hospital. My dog had an ear infection and difficulty breathing. As before, I was made to wait in the car. They called and gave me a quote of roughly ~$600 for the visit. They asked to run more tests and I said okay. It then totaled out to over $1,100. I was told he had a heart murmur and a distended abdomen. They gave antibiotics for his ear infection. No one from the office ever called to follow up on his recovery. I called and asked for further clarification on their tests. They reiterated what I was previously told and told me if he has more problems I should just take him to the emergency vet again. Absolutely NO compassion or treatment plan. I decided to finally take my dog back to our old vet. She compared his previous tests with all his current symptoms and was able to suggest that these are signs of Cushing's disease. Crossroads NEVER mentioned or even considered that possibility. What incompetence and lack of knowledge. So, Dr. Cooper was content leaving me in the dark, with no diagnosis or treatment plan. What they did was leave me with an $1,100 bill with more questions than answers. They overcharge on all of their services so PLEASE BE AWARE of this. Or, better yet, avoid them altogether. Had I not returned to my old, reliable vet, my dog would have continued to suffer and I would have had no idea what to do for him. Crossroads and Dr. Cooper have no compassion and are completely incompetent. They are solely in it for the money and do the absolute bare minimum - and sometimes even less in my case. So, please, DO NOT EVER VISIT THIS OFFICE. You will be overcharged on all exams and services compared to other veterinarian offices in the east valley. You will be left in the dark and not given a treatment plan. Most importantly, your animal will not be given the proper care to live their life to the fullest. Shame on you, Crossroads. I will continue to tell everyone I know to stay light years away of the monstrosity you call a veterinarian office. read more

Dr. Jen Howard has been our saving grace for years now. She see's my three personal pups as well as any rescues we bring in. My husband and I usually only take in the hard to adopt rescues with very challenging temperaments that tend to be reactive to strangers. Dr. Howard is not only fear certified but she treats every dog (no matter the intensity of the reaction) as if they were her own kiddo. She uses her soft spoken voice, always gets to the point on what NEEDS to be done and what isn't necessary, and she does everything with compassion for our animals. I couldn't ask for a better vet to stand by my side as we have had to euthanize family members who were too sick to keep going, or to slowly build bonds with our rescue dogs who aren't so easy to handle so she can vet them out and keep them healthy, or to be so quick to answer questions and get us in for appointments when our dogs have fallen ill. We love our Dr. H and we love the crossroads team! 10/10 would recommend this vet to anyone, especially if you have a pup that isn't always happy go lucky to see the vet or new people in general. read more

My dog has had shots and nail trim from this hospital for approximately the last couple of years. I just called to schedule his next nail appointment and was informed that he must have an annual health exam, with a Dr, before he can get his nails trimmed. I inquired what they check during an annual exam and they replied "just to make sure he is healthy". Translation - you haven't paid us enough money so a Dr needs to spend 5 min ensuring my dog is healthy so we can charge you $61. Oh, and then pay for the nail trim. The front desk, the tech and Dr Martin were all wonderful and caring. The visit was very easy and no stress at all diagnosing a lump on my dog with immediate results. Like any veterinary clinic or healthcare service (especially if you don't have insurance), that's not a social services / nonprofit agency, it can be pricey depending on what procedures need to be done. I've gone to other places that have varied slightly in cost, but I have had the best experiences and feel most comfortable bringing my babies to Crossroads. read more

The Doctors on staff that we have worked with have been excellent (when you can actually get to them) but our experience with the current receptionist is nothing short of "no soup for you" from Seinfeld Season 7 Episode 6.. She even hung up on us when following up from a request the day prior to have a script refilled. A script that is of extreme importance for our pet (treating valley fever) as we count down the days to running out. They are SLOW at returning calls about your beloved pet. We called on a Monday and received a call back a week later for example.. When we follow up to check on the status of calling in a simple refill, the receptionist respond's with -- "Are you calling for the same thing as yesterday? We're really busy and are still working on it" and hangs up. Here we wait as days that go by with no update as we call the pharmacy daily asking if they received a call from the vet for a refill and the answer is "not yet.." The pharmacy was kind enough to recommend other vets in the area as they have had this complaint about Crossroads in the past from other patients.. read more

With a heavy heart I'm writing this review. I've been a loyal customer to this clinic for years! I've had the best experience ever until recent. I want to emphasize that Margaret and Dr Garza are amazing people who CARE about the animals. I feel as if I'm leaving them but unfortunately it's the office manager Kimberly who is a liar. I made an appointment and waited OVER 2 hours. I was quoted $750 for 2 dogs exams, blood work (including a senior panel) and 2 yearly shots of heart worm prevention. I declined a senior blood panel and expecting a $500 bill. Well 2 hours later I was advised that they cannot draw blood on my dogs. I was asked to make another appointment and drug my dogs to make it easier.... which speaking with other customers is the new trend.... give your dogs gabapentin and bring them back. Ummm what was going on for 2 hours???? I paid for the exams but was frustrated. I asked Margaret to have Kimberly to call me. She did while I was fueling my car. I asked for her to call back at least 5 minutes later... I never heard back. So today I call and speak to Kimberly who stated she called me and left messages on Aug 17. Hmmmm no calls from Crossroads on my cell or home phone. When I advised her that she was wrong she became snarky. So unless you can guarantee that you will have NO interaction from Kimberly- I'd suggest that you find another vet. Margaret and Dr Garza are and always provide exceptional customer service-- Kimberly should take a few lessons from those ladies! read more

So we had to have our Scotty "Macee" seen for a growth on one of her paw pads. They were able to get us in within a day of calling. Once we brought her in and the Dr. checked her and wasn't sure what to make of the growth we ran a blood test and it came back inconclusive. So we started her on some antibiotics to see if that would help. Our vet, the actual Dr that saw us called a few days later to check on Macee and see how she was doing. This is not the 1st time that after taking a pet in that the same person has called to check up on us and see how our pet was doing. My dog and I are SO relieved to have found this vet! My previous vet of several years has made major staff changes so appointments are now routinely 10 days out -- unacceptable when an animal is sick or injured! Last time my dog needed vet attention, the receptionist suggested that we come and sit in the waiting room to be squeezed in. My poor nervous shaking dog and I were there for FIVE hours! After this latest fiasco at our previous vet, a friend recommended we call Crossroads and I scored an appointment within an hour of my call -- an hour! I almost cried I was so happy! I'm also used to putting up with our appointments taking several hours, not because the vets are particularly diligent but because we had to wait for an exam room, wait to see the assistant, wait to see the vet, wait to see the assistant again, wait for the tests and treatments, wait for the care plan to be printed out, wait for the meds, wait to check out. We were typically there 2-3 hours each time because of all the waiting. At Crossroads, we were taken back to an exam room as soon as I checked in and we were seen right away, no sitting around waiting! The vet and her assistant were absolutely wonderful, being so empathetic to my overly nervous shaking dog, going out of their way to help her feel comfortable, and of course all of the tests and exams were done ever so gently. The vet figured out her problem quickly, offered a treatment plan, and we were on our way back home in no time. Words can't express how much this means to me, knowing that I no longer have to watch my dog suffer as we wait for care. I'm thrilled with Crossroads! read more

This is the hardest review I have ever done... my baby was not doing well and I had to leave town to go get my daughter from Washington state to drive down and bring her home cause her dog couldn't fly... weeks before trip my baby Brooke took a turn for the worse and I was to afraid that my baby of 11+ years was being called to be with my family and god and I was selfish and not ready to take her in...luckily my lady much stronger advised me to take her in but I had no regular vet for my baby she was special had a lot of issues s born blind but strong never showed a weakness but I knew something was wrong and so did my lady so I yelped and looked for a place to take her but still couldn't but found this place and told my lady I'm not strong enough to take her in if you can when I'm gone I suggest this place ...while I flew up to get my daughter she took her into this and she called me as we drove back with reports and this place was amazing... I'm sharing to much but to some up I got back in time and was able to be by my baby's side and this vet was amazing...I have been around one other animal loss and was no emotion like a routine this place showed they cared not for me but for my baby and that was amazing... I have another baby and as I said I brought my daughter home with her dog and we will be taking our dogs here and would suggest you do the same not only for my experience but just for regular visits and checks ... read more

We have been coming to this vet for 18 years. Today I called to ask them if they could call in a pain med script for my elderly dog who fell down the stairs at my mother-in-laws home. This is a medication that our dog has been prescribed before. I asked for 8 pills (4 days worth). They flat out refused to help us and told us we needed to take our pet to a vet here. We take our dog for every checkup and her next visit isn't even due until December 2020. I am absolutely shocked to be treated this way. I will NEVER go back and I urge everyone reading this to take your precious pets somewhere else. read more

If you are a millionaire take your pet to crossroads! They take really good care of you and your pet but boy, do you pay a premium for it. When reviewing your treatment plan be sure to tell them NO if you don't want to do something. Also don't let them tell you that they feel like it's what's best so they are going to do it anyway just to be on the safe side. Be sure to check your bill before you pay it for unnecessary items like their food they force on you at $52 a bag. Spend thousands here and my dog is not better, instead they say bring him back aka give us more money!!!! The manager is very nasty and unprofessional and should not be in that position. Had the misfortune of speaking with Meghan again. Informed them my dog has an infection in his tail. Because of our interaction in the past the "only" appt was almost 3 weeks out. They really don't provide quality care or service here. The fact that Meghan and I had a negative interaction about their price gouging on medicine is now being taken out on my dog. We've been taking our animals to Crossroads for about four years now since our old vets office closed. All of our animals see Dr. Garner who is very caring and involved with the animals. She will even field your questions over the phone if you have any. We've also taken in two cats recently and they needed to be fixed and the office did a great job with the surgeries and the after care. They even make sure to call you and check up on your animal once you bring them home from surgery. Also, last year one of my weenie dogs developed back issues and Dr. Garner was very helpful when it came down to dealing with his back pain and making sure his back healed properly so that there would be no surgery required. read more

He knows his stuff, cares about his patients, is fair in pricing, and definitely is passionate about his profession and his clients! I have been with this vet clinic since it was called McQueen. They have been very competent and very nice to me and my family. I have ad to put down two dogs in the time that they have been out vet and they are very supportive to your needs and even send a condolence note signed by everyone in the clinic. You can modify the service as you deem fit. They will first present you with a statement of all the services listed and then you can choose what you feel is necessary for your particular needs. I had a dog that hated the vet and they worked with her to calm her and never rushed their services. read more

We go to Banfield across the street at PetSmart. Our dog recently received an RX for special diet. The Vet gave us two scripts for PetSmart brand foods, and another for Purina. She advised they didn't carry Purina, but that they had an arrangement with Crossroads, who did carry it, and that it was less expensive. We drove over, and they were closed. The next day I came back, and was told by the receptionist, "We only fulfill prescriptions when we have a Doctor/Client relationship with the patient." I turned around and walked out. Went back to PetSmart, and was told that the Purina Rep assured Banfield that they would fulfill prescriptions, that the Vet at Banfield had talked with Crossroads and been assured they would fulfill prescriptions. It sounds like this place is more interested in money than in the welfare of the animals they see. I went back to PetSmart and just bought the more expensive food there. It is probably better for my dog, anyhow. read more

I have taken all my 4 dogs to Dr. McComb who is very knowledgeable and works with you as far as price and times you can take your pets in. The staff is very nice and helpful every time we have our appointments. There is no other place I would have my pets. We are now seeing Dr. O and she is fantastic as well. Nice people but cost me an unnecessary $80. The front office staff did not relay information to the vet that my dog had a history of getting things stuck up his nose. I made an appointment for a Saturday and was told by the vet that there was no staff to sedate my dog and remove whatever was stuck in his nose. I was given antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory. Over a week later his symptoms persisted. I called back to see if I could have the exam fee waved and have my dog sedated and the object removed. They called back and said, "We don't have the camera scope to look up your dogs nose." Finally the truth, but it's my fault somehow. Scam artists! read more

First I will say that both Vets I have had Dr. Ontiveros, and Dr. Garner are great, Dr. Ontiveros gets down on the floor with my dog who is difficult and is very patient with her. My problem is with the staff... every time I walk in the door there is no greeting the receptionist keeps her head down like she didn't even here me walk in the door... this is your first impression of your office! You should have someone up front that is friendly and at least acts like they are glad you are here. This last time I went in the little assistant was so rude, there was a mix up in how the appointment was scheduled, which was not my fault, but even if it was I should have not been treated any differently. I was given 3 options for treatment and I wanted to know why I should choose one over the other, and she was so rude and basically said those are the options end of story. Which leads me to my other complaint, tell me what the best treatment for my dog is, I don't like the 3 different choices at different prices educate me about what you would recommend, you are the professional here! Anyhow, I'm torn if I will go back or not. I want a relationship with the people I ask to serve me and the people I pay money for their services, and my experiences in the past have shown me that the staff is to busy to care. read more

I have been taking my two cats here for about 5 years now. Even though I moved away from Gilbert, it's worth the drive to have a wonderful vet who you can tell really cares. Dr. Martin is the best but we have seen others who were also amazing. I can't imagine ever taking my animals anywhere else. They have fair and reasonable prices and they don't take advantage of us even though I'm sure they know I would pay anything for my cats. I found them off of yelp and I am so happy I did! read more

I saw the bad review posted here and was quite concerned as it may have reflected the rare bad day we are all subject to once in a while. We have taken our little poodle to Dr. McComb for about 9 years. Dr. McComb just operated on our dog's orthopedic issues in his neck. Everything went very very well, our little guy was treated in the best possible way . (The doctor even let me go in the recovery room to comfort my dog.) It was serous surgery but our dog is doing GREAT now. We do have to see Dr. Mc Comb fairly often as our dog has several issues that require frequent visits. Dr. McComb is an excellent diagnostician and a very skilled surgeon . We send many people there with confidence. Everyone we have sent there has had nothing but very good things to say. If you get the right Vet ..you save money because the malady is identified and treated sooner and the animal suffers alot less. Our experience at Crossroads Clinic has been very good and very consistent . Please give another chance to someone who might have had a bad day or maybe is not feeling well on that day. At least do it for your pet. read more

We take our dog here for all his health and grooming needs. Everyone we have dealt with is very friendly and knowledgeable. They always are able to get us in with little notice (for emergency visits) and their prices are very reasonable / low compared to Banfield. The grooming is a little more expensive than PetSmart but it doesn't take all day like PetSmart - and in my book, that is totally worth the extra $10 or so. read more

I scheduled my dog for grooming and I was a little nervous, because this was the first time I had taken her to Crossroads Veterinary Hospital. But all doubt was erased when the groomer arrived and it was Scott, the dog trainer. He taught the canine obedience classes that we took with our puppy. I immediately knew that my dog was in good hands. Scott listened to my concerns about my dog's sensitive skin and assured me he would use the oatmeal shampoo. When I picked up my dog she was all smiles, sparkling clean and super soft. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place is really clean. I will definitely be back. read more

Even when we were out of town and our dog got sick at the place we were boarding her (Gilbert dogs 24/7 - another great place), she took great care of our dog and called us several times to keep us updated. Staff and Vets are friendly and nice but it seems very expensive. Recently brought in my dog and was given prescription meds. Came back to get a refill and was stunned by the price. Later saw the same medication online for about half the price. Don't understand how they can get away with charging that much. read more
